Mustard has vinegar in it, it calms down the heat. I've been using it for years...but unless you are fond of mustard, I don't recommend it. Its not my favorite, so I only resort to that when the burning is unbearable. It cools it right down.
I learned that trick from a lady at my very first job. I had burning heartburn, she suggested the mustard, I tried it, it worked, and I've used it ever since.
I wouldnt doubt if it was an ulcer. But I don't have money for Drs. So if it is, it will just have to kill me I suppose. Gotta die of something! :)

My point exactly, mustard has vinegar in it, ACID. :freaky:
But vinegar helps acid reflux. Can't explain it. It just does.
Gross either way. lol
I don't see how that would help mine, I'd think it'd make it worse..... But anyhoo...
For the record, I was right on both accounts about toilet brush color...there are 2 brushes....one is gold, one is aqua....or thereabouts.

Nobody has mentioned it yet, so I will - yet another school shooting, this one at an elementary school. Even little kids are not precious to some these days.
It just makes me heart hurt. :(
Oh, I forgot to mention: While I was gadding about yesterday, I stopped by an indoor flea market and found a stall with a LOT of old records. I only looked through 2 of the 6 boxes of christian music before I ran out of time. The guy who runs it had a record player, and while he's there he uses it to sort through records he has just got in. He let me listen to some of them where I wasn't familiar with the group and wanted to hear before buying. Cool.
And I found a song that has been plaguing me from childhood - couldn't remember the singer or song title, just the bridge. It was Steve Camp, "Ambassador in chains."
"Carry on, Timothy my brother
Be my mouthpiece when I'm gone
Show His love to another
Don't walk shy because you're young
You'll grow strong in the righteous one
Mending broken hearts in this troubled land
You could be mending broken hearts with the Savior's hand"
Lunch was GREAT. Hard to stick to my diet (which I guess *technically* I didn't) but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I'll be glad when I don't gain 100 lbs. from overeating :)
Done with work for the day. Trying to figure out what else to do.
I just saw that on FB, Isaac. *sigh* So many hurting people in the world this holiday season. Makes me so sad.

I tried to post from my phone but it didn't go through. We heard on the radio on the way to Costco. In Conneticut, a town they touted as being the safest place in America. A 24yr old guy, killed someone at home, went to the school, went to the class his mother teaches? killed her and all the little 25 1st graders, then himself. Hannah and I just cried and prayed. All those babies not coming home today. It makes a heart so very heavy. :cry2:
The kids had to hide in closets and then buddy up and keep their eyes closed while they were led out of the building.
Andrew's school had a lock down not too long ago. Nothing came of it but still. We try and make it a point every morning to pray over his school, to keep it safe, to remove any unsafe person or thing that might be there.

I am crushed. It's bad enough someone going nuts and killing adults, but at least they had a chance to defend themselves. Those babies didn't have a chance...
Makes me want to go get my baby and just sit and hold her tight. God help those parents that watched their little one run out the door this moment for the last time. And coming from a law enforcement standpoint, God help those officers and paramedics that responded. I know from personal experience those scenes will live forever in their minds, along with the haunting question "Is there something I could've done?"
And for you other parents- make sure that you've talked with your kids about how to react in a situation like this. Don't let them be sitting ducks....
Roscoe, what would you tell them? They are little and have no control. What should you tell them to help them not be sitting ducks?
A few flippant replied immediately spring to mind... but... I don't think this is really the right time for flip remarks. :-\
What CAN a parent say to help a kid face something like that?
I'm not a parent, but unfortunately, it's the times we're in.
I think once the child is old enough to understand conversations such as that, that the conversation DOES need to be had. Simply because IT IS the times we're in. :sadbounce:
Yes, but WHAT do you say?? How can you prepare someone for HOW to handle a situation that is so unexpected, so frightening, so volatile?? Especially at those ages?? Roscoe, I'm with Sandra. I'd really like to know how you, as a cop, would recommend talking to kids about stuff like this.
Melodya - I'm actually using Saxon Math with Sean this year. Saxon works for some kids, and is positively horrid for others. (I'm one of the ones who hated Saxon - and used it for a number of years.) If you're needing to supplement, I would highly recommend checking out khanacademy online, instead of trying to supplement with a separate curriculum. Khan Academy lets you track your progress - regardless of how much or little you use them - and is VERY user-friendly for both the student and the parents.

Roscoe, what would you tell them? They are little and have no control. What should you tell them to help them not be sitting ducks?
At that age, I'd want them to know that at the very first sign of trouble they are to get down behind any object that they can. Unfortunantly, as young as they are, there is no real way for them to defend themselves, but just by taking action to automatically make themselves as invisible as possible might save them. If they panic and began screaming and running, it's likely they would draw the killers attention and make it more likely that they become a target. If the children can default to what they have been taught and remain even a little in control of themselves, it might make a little difference.
If the killer is just "spraying" his ammo, he might not hit everyone. He's going to shoot in the direction of the people he SEES. If he is determined to kill them, he will go to each child individually, but this takes time and these morons want to get in an afflict maximum damage as quickly as they can.
I know that I would be in the minority on this, but I think EVERY teacher should be trained in the use of handguns and should be REQUIRED to have one in their classroom, preferably on their person. If the teacher had, perhaps one shot might have made the difference for these kids.
Unfortunantly, I see this incident and others that have taken place become an example for gun control. People can't get it around their mind that making something illegal does not cause it to cease to exist.
Chey and I have already began conversations about this and she will be going to the range with me in the next couple of years. She
will know how to defend herself as she grows up.
I will try to have more in a bit. This is just off the top of my head.
And while we are on this unfortunant heart rending subject- your church needs to have a plan on how to handle a threat situation such as this. Nowadays, the House of God is no longer sacred to these types of people, and many of the people that do this kind of act have one thing in mind- to become famous. To have everyone talking about them, even if they are dead. Killing their family and themselves won't do it- but a mall, a church, someplace like that equals sitting ducks and more casualities, therefore it accomplishes their goals.
I strongly believe in God's protection, but I want to do my part in minimizing the pain inflicted on my congregation by someone like this. I may die in my pulpit while shooting at someone, but God willing, they won't injure my family and church.
Totally agree about teachers needing to be both armed and highly trained to USE weapons. And thanks for the ideas. I'll look forward to more of what you have to say later. And the people on FB right now going off about how gun control might have prevented this situation.... MY FOOT!! If someone wants to inflict harm or kill someone, a choice of weapon is really the least of the worries. *sigh* ANYTHING can (and has) been used as a weapon. Gun control just means you're limiting law-abiding citizens - not the people who are actually out to hurt and harm.
Maybe I should just stop right there.

As I've said before, moset of the time I have a concealed weapon on me in church. I do have the advantage of being a police officer, therefore I am not limited by the concealed carry laws banning weapons in church. The thing that bothers me is, Lou likes to sit up front...if I'm not on the platform, I try to be in a back corner seat of the building. That way, if they come in my church, the only doors they could possibly come in presents me with an open shot....it is sad that we must think of things like this, but it is the times in which we live.
Many times, the pastor has a concealed carry piece as well as a couple other men in the church, although they mostly leave theirs in the car..
Our church doesn't currently have anyone carrying (that I know of) - wish we did. But I do know of at least a couple churches where the pastor knows on any given Sunday morning he has at least 3 or 4 armed men sitting in his audience. And yes, it's horrible that we even have to think that way, but it's the world we're in. And much as I trust God to take care of us, I appreciate knowing men and women who use weapons for GOOD.
By the way, Roscoe... thanks. I'm proud to have men like you among my friends.

I have not covered much if anything on what do in the situation besides, "No, your karate chop isn't going to immobilize a bad guy. Even if you do it like that. Yes I know you're strong." I have told them to pray and hide. It's been in the context of a burglar. We seem to be over confident in my cast iron skillets. I have taken it for granted that God will always protect them. I've asked when Jesus encouraged fighting or defense for His disciples and have not gotten much of an answer. He rebuked Peter for using a sword. I don't know. I just don't know.
We also have a number of guys that carry at church, during service. We have a little elder that teaches gun safety and self defense. I can't begin to afford it for our family.
Jesus told Peter to put up his sword because it was time for Jesus to die, he was not building a kingdom in this world at the time, otherwise He said then we'd fight for it.
QuoteThough it may sound contradictory, drinking vinegar can help relieve heartburn, according to "The Healing Powers of Vinegar," by Cal Orey. In fact, having too little acid in your stomach can cause acid reflux, so by drinking vinegar, which is highly acidic, you can restore some of that acid and calm heartburn.

So there! :P
QuoteMustard can work as a heartburn remedy because it contains vinegar, a strong stimulant of saliva. Try adding it to your cooking and you may find that you avoid heartburn altogether.
Since it is vinegar and not mustard seed that reduces heartburn symptoms, be sure to use real mustard and not mustard seed. Some flavored mustards may have less vinegar than traditional mustard, so be sure to check the ingredients list.

In news from this locale, we are done with work at the factory for the rest of the year. Come back January 2nd. "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here."
There are three people from 2nd shift who ran 3rd shift this week, for one week only. Last night at our supper break, one of them showed up to chit-chat... because he had nothing better to do and was bored. The night before that, when he was supposed to start 3rd shift at 10:30pm, he showed up somewhere around 9pm for the same reason - bored. One of the other guys predicted that while we were all out of work, there would be a break-in report at the factory, and the cops would find him just walking the aisles, looking around wistfully.
In the meantime I have 2.5 weeks of no work, and a few stacks of old records and cassettes to transcribe.
Oh yeah, and GRANDMA'S COMING HOME TODAY! About time!
I wish I had 2.5 weeks of no work. :smirk2: It has turned into a decently pretty day of around 70 degrees with a bit of sun. Chey and I are about to go wander around the dirt roads in Rusty for a bit. thought about mixing up some dough and making some breakfast calzone/ hot pockets for the work week, but Lou has got the counters full of no bake cookies that she mixed up this a.m and is letting them set...
So no baking today. And I am out of money to work on things. Bah. Once again I wish I were wildly wealthy....
Bah. The laptop with the best sounding soundcard input, that I use to record audio from old records and cassettes, is more buggy than a New York low-rent high-rise. It has Windows XP, but it's the Vista downgrade to XP, which is just as unstable as Vista. Might just wipe everything out and install Linux.

Roscoe: What are you doing (besides your job) that is keeping you busy? I could pop down and give you a hand. I'm not a picky eater (just don't try to feed me fast food) and I don't eat a lot. :teeth:
I know I'm late on the vinegar/heart burn subject but I know it to be successful. I've had friends with it and I have suggested they take about 2T of apple cider vinegar in a tall glass of water and it's worked every time, sometimes by the time they are done with the glass of water. I don't know the difference between acv vs. white, if there is any. I know acv helps restore the balance of your digestion. It has a ton of other applications too. ick, I still cringe at the thought of the taste & smell of it though.
I don't know the chemistry of it which helps me suggest things to people who are suspect of "all natural" remedies. So I looked it up!
Heartburn and acid indigestion are very common, affecting more than half of all Americans at least once a month. Most people choose to ease their suffering with various over-the-counter antacids, the worst treatment for heartburn or acid indigestion.
If the body is producing too much stomach acid, the body is having trouble digesting food. Neutralizing or decreasing the stomach acid will cause the body to pass partially digested food through the digestive system where it will rot and feed parasites and yeast, causing long-term, serious health repercussions. A study in Holland showed that people using acid suppressing drugs were four times more likely to develop pneumonia when compared to people who did not use those drugs.
Antacids are never good for your health (and the calcium antacids are a terrible source of calcium). There are easy, natural alternative treatments that work and work fast.
Common Causes of Heartburn
Chronic heartburn is a sign of poor health, which is a result of poor diet. When coffee, soda, dairy, fried foods, or refined foods like cereal or bread cause heartburn, your body is telling you to stop eating these foods.
Obesity can cause heartburn by causing the stomach and/or the esophagus to be squeezed out of its proper position, a condition called hiatal hernia. Pregnancy can also cause displacement.
Smoking and overeating are also causal factors. Symptoms increase if you lie down immediately after a meal.
If you have chronic heartburn or acid indigestion, you need to change your lifestyle. Start with a healthy diet. Lose weight. Avoid trigger foods. Stop overeating. Stop smoking. Don't lie down right after you eat. And don't practice yoga handstands on a full tummy either!
Why Does Apple Cider Vinegar Cure Heartburn?
Though vinegar is acidic, apple cider vinegar is alkaline-forming. It is an alkaline-ash food, which means if burned it would leave ash with an alkaline Ph. Though food is not "burned" within the body, alkaline-ash foods are generally alkaline forming.
The acid in apple cider vinegar is acetic acid, a weak acid. When it meets stomach acid (which is hydrochloric acid, a strong acid), the overall acidity of the stomach is reduced but not rendered too alkaline to digest most foods. And since the apple cider vinegar is alkaline forming, it has an overall alkalizing effect on the body, which most people need due to our modern, acid forming diets.
Other Natural Acid Reflux Treatments
While apple cider vinegar is the fastest and best natural treatment for heartburn, there are other choices as well.
Aloe Vera and Coconut Water
Aloe Vera and coconut water are both natural acid neutralizers. Depending on the severity of the heartburn, coconut water or aloe vera can bring immediate, soothing relief. Drink as much as you need.
so, I learned something!

I have been missing my dad something fierce. I don't know if it's cause of Roscoe's post the other day or the holidays or something more. My dad is a such a loner, we talk a couple times a month, maybe. I couldn't get ahold of him the other day and seriously wondered if something was wrong. Finally he called back. He's going to be laid off over the holiday. I looked up flights to see if we could squeeze a trip for him here. Nope. about $500. I can't pull that off. You'd think that since I went 10yrs, then 14yrs w/o seeing him that I would be fine, but some days I just want one more hug from my dad.
He'll more than likely get depressed over the holiday, become completely wasted and sit alone. All while we're running around seeing family, reading the Christmas story, watching old Christmas movies, presents, food, etc. baah.
Went to my moms today for a family gathering.
It's 15:30. They said Grandma would be home by 15:30. Where's my Grandma?! :demand:
Nah, I'm not worried - Uncle Ray is driving, he's cool. Just wish they'd get here.
Currently I'm listening to an old Steve Camp album. :)
Old Steve Camp was a merry old champ, and a merry old champ was he....
:smirk2:
Aye, that he were, in sooth.
This is nuts! These Steve Camp albums my mother played when I was a kid. I haven't heard them in more than 20 years. I remember almost all the words to all the songs on two albums...
I can't decide if this is good (I have a good memory) or bad (I'm a hopeless music nerd.)
I woke up humming an old Evie song the other morning. And it was FIRMLY stuck in my head, so I'd apparently been dreaming in song, too. *lol* Like you said, it was one of those from an old record I'd heard as a little girl, and I still knew almost all the words. And since I don't really have a good memory, I'm assuming I'm just a hopeless music nerd. :P
:beret:
There's a fun game for music nerds I played once. The referee declares a word and the teams go back and forth singing a line of a song that has that word. We played it both for general and church songs. The last one to have a song line gets the point. It got hilarious!
*sigh* I am trying to build my dad's side of my family tree and pretty much to little avail. Since he was an orphan, we have virtually no information. When promising info seems to come up, I don't know whether it's accurate or not. I'm on ancestry.com but to get much info I have to pay and that is not in the budget. My mother's sister had her DNA tested by them and it came back that she was 97% from the British Isles and 3% other. Some ethnicity doesn't want to register their blood so they can't disclose what the "other" is. So my mom's side is SUPER white... lol I might get mine done except if the "other" is native American then I'm not going to get very far. :( There are SO many tribes.
I wonder if it is Native Americans, why they don't want people to be able to trace their heritage to them? Unless it reveals where the natives really came from before America?
My travelers are on the way home! :D
MellowYellow: There is a board game called Symphony with that. You roll dice, move your marker, draw a card that is the color of the square you land on, and think of every song you can that has that word in it. 8 words minimum per song, or it doesn't count. We played it in 8th grade music class.
I have been a music nerd since waaaaay back... everyone wanted me on their team. The hard part was, the teacher kept having to say "Okay Isaac, that's enough" because I'd want to sing the whole verse and a chorus. She kept having to cut me off. :-\ "What? It's a great song!"
w2cch, yadda yadda.
Random observation on something I read about the school shootings....
I read one article about one of the teachers that hid her class in a bathroom....
She said she thought they were all going to die. One of the quotes mentioned that she told the kids that if they believed in prayer, to pray, and if they didn't to think happy thoughts.
Now, I don't know what exactly was going through her mind in that statement, but when I read that, it bugs me that we have to be sooooooooooooooo politically correct that even while we are hiding and fearing our imminent death at the hands of crazed killer, we have to not offend someone's sensibilities religiously.
Dear Lord, if I was in that case, I'm afraid I'd have to just say, "pray kids!" and leave it at that, whether anybody liked it or not.
If she had only told the kids "pray," and not made a disclaimer for those that didn't believe in it, it would not surprise me one bit if before the victims of this horrible crime were even in the grave, that some knit wit parent, who should be thanking God their child made it out alive, would be crying lawsuit because of the mention of prayer.....
It just troubles me that this nation is so stupid about that kind of thing.
It just makes me wonder if that need to be politically correct was so ingrained in the teacher that that was just the first thing to pop out of her mouth, or what....
I dunno. That just bugs me.
And I wanted to share with you all. :P
Merry Christmas.
Good rant, Cheesy. Really good rant.
After watching my brother going to school for his teaching degree, I'd venture to agree with your guess - that it was completely ingrained in her and she she would have responded that way out of habit. But even so.... yeah, how silly. I'd be with you... "pray, kids, PRAY!" and never mind what may or may not be said to me later.
:beret:
Ugh.. Dear God, it is morning. :pound:
Monday through Friday I work second shift. Saturday I am off. These six days of the week I don't even need an alarm clock. But that last day of the week... sometimes it's a battle not to send it through the wall. POW!
For the record, V8 Fusion smoothies are pretty good. V8 Fusion is blech - sweetened with sucralose. V8 smoothies are just fruit (and veggies) and they finally got it right.
I found some at the salvage grocery and stocked up. Think I'll try some oats blended in for a health shake breakfast. :teeth:
I made some iced coffee to sip on during sunday school. It is GOOD.
My babies are here. :)
checking in. still alive. trying to decide if i want to try to venture out of my drive way to church. they are logging in the woods behind the house and they have tore UP our driveway. i'm having brake issues and it's been told to me not to use my 4 wheel drive due to a boot issue on my one wheel. i may just do it anyway and see what happens.
Mike won't quit watching coverage on the CT shooting. It just really hurts my heart to keep going over it again and again. I've been walking around with my ipod and earbuds ALOT. Plus now Teresa is using the boys [Brandon's nephews] to manipulate Mike into giving her money. I want to punch that woman in the face....
made the decision. i am going to church tonight. i can't stay in this house all day.
Well of course not. After a few hours, even good earbuds can start hurting. Then it's a choice between going or staying and listening to continuing coverage.
Excellent point Seth. I listened the day of and not really since. An acquaintance posted a really good point and I quickly had a better focus.
The shooting in Ct absolutely horrendous. Heart goes out to families. But then I read about a man in China who attacked an elementary school kids w a knife and injured 20. Many critically. Then I read about a young woman kept as a sex slave in a trailer in Lebanon, MO for 6 years. She was a minor when it began. Then u read about how over 10,000 kids have become "orphans" or homeless w/o parents to care for them in eastern Kentucky due to abuse and overdose of prescription drugs. Read about a 19 yr old who raped an 11 yr old girl and molested another boy. The tragedies of this world are all around us. There is only one answer to it all. But too many have already rejected the answer before I can say it. But the answer is a surrendered heart to Jesus. It's too much to take in with out Him.
It's horrible, of it's own, and if it causes people to stop and take a step towards better things then the attention is not in vain. I just wish people got this upset over the millions of abortions or all the other things just as horrible but not as sensationalized.
Today was a lovely day. Started out as incredibly foggy. Fog seems to make the world a little quieter I think.
The kids' Christmas program was both sweet and entertaining. There's a few pictures on FB of Hannah who played a librarian, her first major speaking part. She did well. The choir/praise team did great, I absolutely love the camaraderie, it's so precious. Pastor preached a 15 min. sermon that was so very good. It is a blessing beyond words to hear from God, to be learning to recognize the voice of God. Ya realize God is always speaking, teaching, etc.
Our OK friends came up to see family and we all went to eat afterward. Good food, great fellowship! The gals decided we needed another girls spa night. We had one a few yrs. ago. We made various homemade beauty recipes and tried them. It was pretty hilarious.
Went to church this morning, came home. My sister asked me to go help her clean that apartment building, went with her and did that. Came home and then went to church at Bro. Goddard's at Columbus. Came home. Eating a salad.
:smirk2:
Sure am glad they chose THIS week to start the 2.5 weeks of no work. Everyone is doing stuff this week. The only day I won't have anything to do is... uh...
Hmm...
Thursday of next week, December 27th. :D That is, unless something comes up for that day before it gets here.
Back at work. If I can make it through today and three more.....another weekend. Had good church last night. Have had a situation in the teen class I sometimes teach that has been somewhat difficult. Without a lot of details, one of the boys is dating a girl from another faith, very much against the desires of his family and me, and I have had to be VERY careful to avoid offending and driving her off. Been rough on me, but I felt the Spirit check me....yesterday, we veered off the lesson at her instigation and I was able to address the "once saved always saved" issue, as well as some others that needed addressing, such as Acts 2:38. And then when preaching time came, Bro Papa preached nearly the same words I'd use- right down to the scripture. :biglaugh:

Happens to the best of us, man.
In an effort to resync to normal people's days for the long vacation, I got little sleep Saturday night, ran on caffeine Sunday and got to bed at the astonishingly early hour of about 11pm. So I woke up about 6am, ready to go. And Ann and Ray (visiting family from Texas) and Grandma, who went to bed before I did, are still asleep. It feels so weird being up before daylight, before everyone else.
We don't call you a weirdo for nothing.

Good Morning. :)

Can't wait 'til next Monday! Gonna make some delicious (sounding) pumpkin muffins that don't have any starch or sugar. Yum!
Gonna go get a salad in a minute. I like to get it early so that the chicken isn't super cold

She's confused. lol
I have a recipe for pumpkin muffins that just call for a cake mix and a can of pumpkin and that's all.
Hmm thinking I might make some tonight.
:P Not confused. Instead of using flour or something like that, you use almond flour (no starch).
Ingredients:
Muffin mix:
1 1/2 Cups almond flour
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp ground cloves
2 Tbsp Butter or coconut oil
1/2 Cup Truvia or stevia
3 large eggs
1 cup canned or fresh mashed pumpkin
Doesn't pumpkin have some starch?
And Truvia is no replacement for Stevia. Grandma picked up some Truvia last night. One packet of Truvia sweetens a glass of tea. If you put that much pure Stevia in it would be enough to sweeten five or six gallons of tea.
Isaac, I think they have a cup for cup type stevia. I'm not sure what the filler is. Maybe it depends what brand?
http://www.intheraw.com/products/faqs/stevia-in-the-raw (http://www.intheraw.com/products/faqs/stevia-in-the-raw)
"In our cup-for-cup Bakers Bag product, pure stevia leaf extract is co-dried with maltodextrin, a natural carbohydrate derived from corn."
Pumpkin does have starch, but it's a good starch. Guess I should have said "no added starch, sugar free".
;)
Hello people.
I'm currently talking to Sis Mom. I'm on hold though. He son called and she's talking to him.
I dunno about maltodextrin. Is it anything like maltitol? If you eat too much maltitol you can get the worst case of gas you've ever had. Same with sorbitol, which causes some problems these days in the U.K. because sorbitol is what they use a lot in sugar free gum. And they call Chicago the windy city... :biglaugh:
Truvia uses erythritol, which I don't know anything about. I could probably google it up though. But given how strong I know pure stevia to be, and how big these packets of Truvia are, there can't be more than 7% stevia in there.
I like Truvia more than Stevia..though Truvia doesn't mix very well sometimes.

Mustard is awesome for light burns on your skin as well. A pastor's wife whose husband runs the concession stand at camp let me in on that secret one night when molten nacho cheese got on my hand. Worked like a charm! :)
MJJ: That happened to me once. I ended up being friends with the looney girlfriend from our texting back and forth that day, LOL. Granted.. I tore back when she tore into me.. not too meanly of course. :) We were friends for a while.. even a double date! HAHA..

haha well I didn't reply. I just called the guy today and chewed him out. Poor guy...apparently it was a drama-filled weekend for him. Because of said girl supposedly. He couldn't tell me the whole story when we were on the phone. He didn't even know I texted him either, or that she texted back. He was mad at that.

Didn't make it to church. My driveway wouldn't allow it.
Work wasn't too atrocious. Of course if the Mayans were right I don't have to have another Monday again :thumbsup2:
With the upcoming holiday I have somehow ended up with a 4 day weekend. Woot!

I'm giggling at the pumpkin/starch conversation. ;) Glad Kkay was able to clarify for all you dense peoples. :hypocrite:
Roscoe... that whole "I'm innocent" thing just doesn't work around here. Ask Sir John. *grin*
Sandra - how were the cinnamon rolls?
Do you suppose the boys would protest if I sent them to bed at 6? *grin* I need to work on a Christmas present, and I have to wait until they're in bed.
:beret:
Went to church, cooked a lot, went to Uncle Brent's for a family supper, ate a lot, talked a lot, came home.
Gonna be at the church at 8am to fire up for the city hall christmas lunch. People around here sure like my pastor's cooking.
If anyone wants some sourdough bread, come over here around Thursday afternoon. I'll be baking about 20 loaves for Sunday - After the Christmas program I have a habit of giving bread to certain people who have a history of appreciating it.
*randomly HUGS Ruby*
Made a lemon-raspberry cheesecake (from scratch Isaac) and prepped a pork tenderloin with herbs and lemon for my girlfriend date tomorrow night. Also making mashed potatoes and green beans as well.
Can't wait!

So the folks from Texas, who brought Grandma back Saturday, have departed early this morning. Before they left I learned something - capes are not as odd as you might think. The topic came up when Aunt Lisa gave Grandma a waist-length black cape with grey (faux) fur edging. They said a lot of people wear them down in Houston, guys and gals. Men don't wear capes like Grandma's though, they wear more of an opera style cape. And it's for formal, not casual wear.
Glad to know I'm ahead of the game. Again. :thumbsup2:

Yeah, if I could order a cape it would kinda go against all I've been mentioning about being a bit short on money because of a 2.5 week vacation.
I'd rather have been kidding about the long vacation, frankly...
And for future reference, I'm only serious about 3% of the time.
3% huh? I'm only onrey 3% of the time also. :P
Phew! Cleaning the church is exhausting. I know some of you can relate. And I only do a part of it. I say I need to work out but 4-5hrs of cleaning twice a week is a work out. That should count, right? lol It does help me be more ambidextrous though. It gets old washing glass doors with mostly one arm.
Partly out of curiosity and partly cause my tummy was very... gurgly, yesterday I drank a glass of the apple cider vinegar water to see what it'd do. It was awful. But not as awful as I thought. I used a straw and put it as far back as I could. My tummy did stop but I don't know if it would have done that if I'd just drank a full plain glass of water.
Should have went with the mustard.
Did the group run at the gym today. I hadn't ran in oh 14ish years. But I did decent enough.
Just got done eating dinner and now I'm gonna try a Pinterest recipe for cake batter fudge.
I saw that one...let me know how it turns out.
My pork loin, mashed potatos and green beans were scrumptious!
The lemon-raspberry cheesecake was even better!
Way to go!
*sigh*

Howdy everyone. Have a blesses day.
Got stuff to do today, got to get ready for this winter storm we are going to get tonight and tomorrow. Gotta get some food and water.
Morning, folks :hi:
Christmas is getting closer and closer. Glad my holiday shopping will be done as of today! I just have to get 2 more things.
Hope everyone has a good day :)
Looks like the Grinch is getting an early start. Somebody stole a bunch of Christmas care packages that were supposed to go to troops in Afghanistan.
This just in: The Mayan calendar predicts the end of the world on December 21st. The Aztec calendar doesn't. And the Oreo cookie says we'll be okay. http://www.cybersalt.org/funny-pictures/mayan-calendar-correction

I am a tad grumpy today. My detective skills are failing me because SOMEONE ( Mel and Chel) refuse to assist the police in an investigation.
It all started a couple of weeks ago when I received a random text from one of the aforementioned ladies, wanting to know my t shirt size. :eyebrow: I obliged, wanting to know why, and got no response other than an airy "wait and see".... :pound:.
Then a few days later I go to the mailbox and find a package that has no return address, and my address printed in block lettering, obviously to avoid any chance of me comparing signatures. Inside was a new white t-shirt in my size, with the saying "Short people: God only lets things grow until they are perfect, and some of us didn't take as long as others".
I immediately assumed it was the askee of the "your size" question, but they swear it is not them....and refuse to give me any other information, even after being advised that it is a crime to withhold information from law enforcement, and that she could be charged with Interferring with Governmental Operations... :nono: (I'm just trying to keep my friend from getting into trouble :hypocrite:)
But, NO, she remains a criminal and outlaw and will NOT assist the police, even though it is her duty as a citizen to do so.
I then tried to appeal to a dear sweet kind lady whose hobbies include amauter detective work. But no, it appears the aforementioned criminal/information withholder/ outlaw has infected her as well, and she too refused assistance, and went so far as to come on this very thread and accuse ME of wrongdoing. :sadbounce: How twisted and sad.......
So- as it stands today, I have two criminal/outlaw/snitches that refuse to give me the information I need to protect them and this board. I am giving thought to pursueing charges against the scofflaws- they were warned, but continued down the outlaw trail, dancing merrily behind our resident herb grower.... :nono:
And I have a Christmas gift of which I have no clue of the giver, other than the postmark, which if I remember right was from Mississippi.....and yes, I ran that lead to the ground too. So if you (the sender) are on here hiding- Thank You. The present touched my hardened chunk of coal like heart and made the holidays better for me. I'd wear it with pride, if I could get it back from my wife. :laughhard:
And outlaws- I AM watching. I WILL catch you, and you WILL pay for your transgressions. :pound: :pound:
I am innocent!
...where is Missippi? I never heard of it.

Christmas is gonna be a real challenge for me. I have SO many recipes for desserts and other things that I CAN have though...maybe I won't think about what I CAN'T have. lol I have a good recipe for a chocolate dessert that's within my diet but I also plan to make "apple pie" without the crust. You just cut up an apple into small pieces (however small you want it), then sprinkle a mixture of ground cinnamon and truvia/stevia, then bake at 450 for 15 minutes. Tastes just like the filling of an apple pie (without all the creaminess).

Me too, Roscoe...but this recipe is muuuuuch better for you :) lol
Some stupid kid here at Bloomington High School South supposedly said he had plans to break the Sandy Hook record on the 21st.
I think we should have him publicly flogged on the town square.
Truvia is not Stevia. Truvia is mostly erythritol.
http://www.amazon.com/Kal-Pure-Stevia-Extract-Powder/dp/B000VRSR84/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355941234&sr=8-1&keywords=stevia
Careful how you use that stuff. A teaspoon is about the same as a cup of sugar.
Seth: Set your rooster after him. Put a little fear in the dude. :freaky2:
I can have truvia on my diet though. You can use truvia or stevia and still be alright.
I'd put my weight on here if I was at my goal :)
IT'S TOO QUIET IN HERE!!!
Bleh. I'm only .5 of a week into this 2.5 week thing. One can only run so many records before going crazy. -er.
Someone post something.
Something.
In sharing news: last week I don't know if I shared, but pastor said we could have a fridge and stove from the fellowship hall. So that was moved and hooked up. The guys came and replaced the window that had been busted out a few weeks ago, and dad bought us a Diswasher on Friday, and me a new mattress on Saturday for my birthday. Today, the guys finished the windo and hooked up the dishwasher!! And they moved the chairs and stuff (that belong to the church) out of the front room so our apartment has more living space.
At this moment, one of the guys is switching the handles around on the fridge so it opens from the left instead of the right.
Things are coming together, the diswasher is humming and it sounds great! ;)
Sandra: *HUG*
Mel: my cake batter fudge tastes good but has a weird consistency. as in you need to eat it with a spoon.
Tonight is the Christmas party for the smaller church in Damascus I go to. Brandon asked if he could go along with me. I think he'll really like Bro Moore and I know Bro Moore will insist on doing a bible study with him. So I see it as a win-win.
A cat got ahold of me at work. I just wanted to take him out of his carrier and weigh him. Vincent [the cat] them proceeded to latch onto my wrist with his front claws and take a chunk out of the back of my hand. He got a caution sticker put in his chart. Stupid cat.
In other news our driveway is now so bad due to the loggers and the rain that I can no longer get my car up the hill. I have to park down by the burn pile and hike up.
can you put it over something or dip stuff in it Heather?
Will the loggers fix your driveway when they're done?
It amuses me up how much we agree on food, Isaac... lol
Nathan weighs about 250 just to make you guys feel better. More than Jeremy, I'm sure. I'm in trouble if we were in some crazy emergency where I had to carry or drag him... lol An angel better show up!
Dieting during the holidays is difficult but a strong person can do it! Good for you, Kkay. 2yrs ago I had to go 3mo. w/o sugar, wheat, and dairy, from Oct. till the New Year. It was harder than fasting by a LONG shot.
The loggers are supposed to grade it when their done but buying gravel to go over it is gonna break us.
Even with going to the gym I'm staying around the same weight I always am. I have lost a bit around the middle but I'm gaining more muscle in my arms/back and legs. I stay around the 155 mark. B weighs in at 235 last he told me.
Maybe that's where my extra weight came from. I started wearing toe shoes in April of last year, and since then my legs have reached the muscular level they were designed for (as opposed to the currently "normal" level of atrophy in those who wear shoes with thicker heels.)
Yeah. My extra weight is all muscle. :)
I should weigh around what Weird Cat does....and used to at one point..... Unfortunately I currently weigh what him and Roscoe combined do.
:P
Vetclinicgirl, is it timber that belongs to somebody else that they are cutting?
His dad owns a few acres cut out from the Henson family land. So it's Brandon' grandma's land they are logging. She lives next door but way up closer to the road on her property. Our house sits waaayyy back on the back end of our property. So we have the long driveway with closest access to her trees.
The party was quite lovely and Brandon had a good time.
I am so sick of Christmas. I really am. We are not wanted at anyones house for the meal this year. We were just told they are having family only...well the last time I checked, we were family. And how come my other aunt and uncle from out of town AND two other not immediate family are invited?
We can't afford to buy the fixins for a dinner worthy of Christmas for just the three of us. It's be a waste. Plus I am SO STINKING SICK OF BEING TRAPPED WITH JIST MY PARENTS ALL THE TIME! It's been 8 months for crying out loud! If I don't get out of here soon I'm honestly gonna have a nervous breakdown. I'm sick of being with them 24/7!
Christmas has always been a big joke in our family. No real gifts, no real celebration...why am I getting upset this year? It's typical for us.
And I'm just sick of the whole thing. I hate it.
I think we should celebrate the birth of Christ, I'm not saying that. But with my family. Who really cares? It's just a day for arguing and attitude. Why did I have hopes for this year? Why do I even try. It's stupid of me to think that it would be any different.
I'm upset.
/rant
You have a standing invitation here. And no doubt at a few other places. Your family too, if you can stand to bring them along.

Ok. I'm better now. I took a drive. Went to WM. walked around.
I feel a bit better about the situation. Hurt some still. But some better.
Thanks for the invite. I'm sure there really are plenty of places we would be welcome. We did get invited to BOTH of my Brothers houses. But with one 4 hours away, and the other 6 hours away, and dad being stuck here cause of dialysis, we can't go away that far for just one day. And it would have to be one day cause he has to be on the machine both Monday and Wednesday. So Christmas day is all we would be free, and thats too far of a trip and too much money just for lunch.
Idk what our plans are now. We will see.

I'm not sure whether to suggest we put you in a home due to the fact that you go to Wal-Mart to feel better, because WM is a horrid, twisted place to make you feel better.....
Or if I should say, "Ah, yes, a good old trip to WM and seeing how many people there are that are horrifically worse than yourself will brighten anybody right up..."
If it was a grocery I could understand it. I love to just go to the grocery and walk around.
But Walmart?! No way!
It's windy like crazy here! Storm and/or cold fronts blowing in!
I'm afraid my balcony is gonna take flight. Lol it's already kinda hoaky!
For the record I was walking around the grocery section. Lol
both, Seth. LOL
I'm sorry, Mel. They probably can't get away with just inviting you and not your parents. I thought you all were just supposed to be staying there a little while, and only if the dog didn't soil inside the house? Or ... I can't remember now. Have your parents worn out their welcome? Is there any sign of moving?
I doubt it's you. If your parents drive you up the wall that much, they probably aren't the most popular with others either.
One thing is for certain. You are a strong lady, and I admire you for trying to help take care of your parents.
And another thing. God moved you there for a certain season of purpose. Remember how quickly he did it and it was a challenging transition both leading up to and during? God always has wonderful things in store for you and they can happen quickly. He's done it before, He can do it again. God is aware and cares. Plus, we care!
*leaves big hugs for Mel*

Quite the contrary, Melodya. Pastor came to us and asked us to stay. We are NOT going to be moving for awhile now. Maybe a year or two. That's why they put a fridge and stove in here. So we can stay.
Hello, my Friday. It's so good to see you. I thought you'd never come.....Now if I can make it through the day without getting blown away- the wind is atrocious.
Seth-Put it this way, Granny Henson is a (enter bad word here). When Papaw Henson was alive he'd give you the shirt off his back. Granny Henson would take it back and find a way to get your pants and shoes too. She finally fessed up a couple years ago to keeping thousands of dollars the church had taken up for Brandon's family when his sister passed away.

It snowed a few inches. School & Nathan's work is cancelled. No fun.

Well come up to Tennessee, where the good life is. I'll even let you get a snowball and take a free shot at... my brother, yeah.
Um... it's been barely two hours and this bread is rising like crazy. I've been doing whole wheat for so long, I forgot how fast white bread rises. It's supposed to take at least three hours.
In the meantime, while waiting for it to rise I stepped out to the mennonite store and stocked up on cheeses. Amish butter cheese, havarti, some really good colby, muenster, a bit of sharp cheddar for Grandma...
What? No, we all hate cheese. Nasty stuff, can't stand it. :P

Isaac, do you buy gouda cheese? Do you buy your cheeses as from cow's milk or goat's? I'm doing a new recipe that calls for gouda and Costco has both cow's and goat's and I don't know which I should choose.
Also, have you ever made a lamb roast? Or do you ever marinade your meat in yogurt? It's more a middle eastern thing but it's the same concept of buttermilk I think.
Gouda is a favorite of mine. :bigcheese: Anything goat cheese is a lot stronger tasting. I love it. Chris - not so much. *shrug*

Unfortunantly, Lou's store is full to the brim with idiots, in every stage of its operations. :smirk2: They're all a buch of morons, a fact I am reminded of everytime I shop. I had to threaten one of the managers recently by telling him if they didn't honor their advertised oil change price, he would need to call my friends AND an ambulance, because when I left he would too....only he would be horizontal. ( He got smart with me and the pre-2010 Roscoe came out to play)

And the only thing edible from the goat I've ever had was the goat itself.....bbq'd. It was a pet- until my Daddy caught it giving its rendition of "The Nutcracker Ballet" on the top of his beloved orange and white '71 chevy truck. No kidding- we ate cabrito that night. Tasty, as I recall. :P

I love it. It's one of my favorite things. It's not tangy like cow's yogurt, it's more like pudding. I like the just vanilla or honey flavor.
I am wide awake. I still have too many things to do. Why am I still on the computer? Communicating with family, who are actually having a real blizzard right now, and going over recipes for tomorrow and Christmas dinner.
I think I'll go shower now and then finish wrapping presents.
I'm so thankful for heat. I don't know how the settlers/Indians did it. It'll be 11° tonight and I'll be warm and dandy. Thank you Jesus.

I would agree...except someone would point out they hired my wife and then would go and tattle on me, saying I called her an incompetent boob. So I'd better steer clear of that grenade. :P
Good call.
In unrelated news, tomorrow morning we will be at the church cooking, then at a factory serving lunch, then at the church cleaning up, then I am going my separate way to plow through four boxes full of old christian records at an indoor flea market. So y'all won't have to put up with me until late tomorrow afternoon. Unless I get lost in the music, in which case you might never hear from me again.
I'll have Internet. And my phone. So :thumbsup2:

Yeah, gross. Golden Corral has much better food. No offense to Cracker Barrel - they really do try to put on an down-home atmosphere - but for a real southern boy their food is strictly mass produced.
Morning, everyone :hi:
Last night could have been worse, I suppose. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. This morning wasn't as bad either. Just gotta figure out what the best thing is to get someone who has to stand out in the cold for 8 hours a day. Already got "long johns", underarmour shirt, t-shirt, gloves, hand/feet warmers (the things that heat up and stay warm for 6 hours), hat, face mask, extra socks.
Is there anything else I could get? I was thinking about more shirts but I don't know how he could wear any more.
I for one despise cracker barrel. :ugly: And Roscoe, the next meat-up we have will not be at golden corral...it will be at a different buffet that is even better in Ft. Smith.
Second: Mel, that is great news (I think...).
Third: Merning everyone.
I woke up this morning with a off the wall song stuck in my head.
Morning. :waving: Headed to have breakfast with a bunch of OTHER cranky old coots, then after a quick run up town, it'll be back home with a pot roast in the crockpot and cleaning. Then they come out to close on our refinance of the house, and if I am lucky I will get to go put the Corvette together since I got the new computer in for it yesterday. Everything in me wants to blow off the chores and go straight to the 'vette, but I would be crucified by my loving, understanding, longsuffering wife.... :sadbounce:

I've never really eaten anything there other than breakfast. That's usually why we go, so we can get breakfast at night and not have to go to IHOP. lol
It's kind of snowy here today. My car was covered, at least. Good thing the ground is still warm enough to melt it :)

Nathan works outdoors the entire time. Is it only standing outside? You said "extra socks," do you mean the "specially made" socks for cold weather that also keep their feet dry? I got Nathan some of those and he likes them for the days he isn't as active.
Other things that he has liked are: sports mp3 player that doesn't inhibit his work, quality shoes, serious grade manly moisturizer- winter time is killer on guys hands/elbows/knees/face, and then other things that Nathan has still liked are grilling tools. I don't know about you all but cold weather doesn't deter people up here from grilling... lol Stuff for his truck. There is a spray window de-icer that is Awesome. I got Nathan a quality XL thermos one year, about 10 yrs ago. He still uses it.
I would check Eddie Bauer. They have not only things I wouldn't otherwise think of but also good quality things that last. Hope that helps!
Ok, it's after 9 so I am going to hit up these stores and see how much off my list I can get done. Des Moines is supposed to have gotten 12in. of snow last night and that's our half way mark for traveling. High winds are going to make our travels tonight exciting because it blows the snow like it's sand all over the road making it hard to see where the road/lanes begin and end... lol We should get to the stinkin' hotel at about midnight. I'm SO glad to be coming back home for Christmas though, I'm well over being at hotels at Christmas. bleh.
How much snow did you get Seth?
That does help! I just bought him some thick socks - he layers them. Puts on long socks, then ankle socks. He has company issued boots. He just stands outside all day pretty much. Makes sure no one does anything fishy. I do need to get him some more regular socks though. I only got the ankle ones. I might get him a thermos 'cause he's been wanting to eat soup for lunch rather than a sandwich. Good tips! I'm also thinking about getting more of the hand/feet warmers. They have 40 at Wal Mart for around $15, which is MUCH better than where I went yesterday.
smh. It would at least be entertaining to read/hear all the silliness about the Mayan calendar if it actually said the world was ending. It doesn't. So it just makes people sound stupid for getting riled for or against something that isn't even claimed.
I've heard so many different things about today. Some people say they've found another part of the Mayan calendar. Others say there's a different calendar we should be paying attention to. It's all rubbish. Mom and I both agree that God isn't a liar (duh) and he said no one will know when He's coming back. I guess unless you just believe the world will cease to exist (without God coming back), then it doesn't make a bit of sense.
Yay! I found some heavyweight socks at Wal Mart, of all places. Well, it says they sell them at the store I'm going to. Gonna go after work to pick some up. Now I just have to wait to see if the face mask and hand warmers worked at all today.

Ain't that a kick in the pants?!? Been waiting for over a month to be able to afford the part I need for the Corvette. I finally bought it, installed it, and the 'vette runs better than ever. While it's idling, I tighten things up- and hear a noise. I popped the hood just in time to see the dryrotted accessory belt self destruct..... Waiting time again... I swear this thing don't want me to drive it.. :biglaugh:
I am finally HOME! Long day today, but a fun one, where I got many things done that I wanted to get done. The factory Christmas lunch we were serving went off without a hitch. One of the church ladies had made a banana split cake, and while we were at the factory serving the food I spent the whole time complaining (in a teasing way) that she was putting out too many slices of it, I wouldn't get a piece. She knew I was just picking - it has pineapple, which I don't like. But it was fun. The boss's wife was there and chipped in, getting a second piece of banana split cake, taking two pieces home (it really was VERY good... if you like pineapple) and making a big deal of it every time she got a piece. "Uh oh Isaac, I'm getting another piece... oh look, this piece has THREE cherries on it!"
In sadder news, two girls I pick up on the church bus route will be leaving to move to Baltimore - permanently - tomorrow. ONE STINKING DAY before the church Christmas program, their gifts, etc. the family has to move to Baltimore. They got their gifts Wednesday night because of this but it's not going to be the same... Bus route won't be the same, Children's Church won't be the same. :-\
Woo-Hoo! I want to shout! As I made reference to earlier, we closed on a refinance of our home. They had told us to be prepared to pay nearly $700 tonight in assorted fees, so we skrimped and saved to have the money....lady just left our house after signing the papers. The fees? Just under $240. That, my friends, is a $400+ blessing just when we needed it most. AND- we expected payment to be due in January- nope- February. That's another large financial blessing, just when I was wondering where we would get the money for new tires for my work truck.....
SWEET!! Love it when God works out nice surprises like that, Roscoe!
In sharing which will interest none of the guys, and only a few of the gals....
I just got done converting a pair of maternity pants into a skirt. The pants were brown corduroy, so I added patchwork panels with varying shades of brown/tan corduroy, and even a smidge of a floral corduroy. I like the patchwork look, but I'm not completely thrilled with how it turned out as a whole. I may tinker with it next week a little more. I dunno. Or I might just wear it and be glad to have a skirt that actually FITS me right now. ;) (I'm attaching a pic of both the front and back views, just in case anyone wants to see.)

Even if God did come back today, it wouldn't actually be the end of the world.....there's a lot of things left to transpire before the actual end and destruction of this world. It would not be a good place to be, but, it would still be here.
Roscoe: :D
SippinTea: I'm a guy, but I do have a sense of style, and that looks nice. Now make yourself a brown cape for winter. They're nice and warm.
ST-I really like the patchwork on the back, but something with the patchwork on the front just seems....off. I don't know how to put it. But overall I like it
I don't have to go back to work til Wednesday! Woot! I pack up to go house sit tomorrow through Christmas morning. My family has decided to have Christmas at my parents sunday then I'll be traveling to Morristown on Christmas for extended family day. Yes these are the same family who were horrible to me on Thanksgiving. I made mom promise to fill up my gas tank so I can take my car and leave whenever I wanted/needed.
What is "off" about it is, the patchwork looks shifted to the left. Personally I like it, but it will probably subconsciously irritate most people, because it looks out of balance. Put a light colored patch at the bottom right.
Actually, Heather, you're on the right track. The original patchwork piece I did for the front looked better. But I'd made the piece too wide, and had to narrow it up a bit. That's one of the things I'm not thrilled with. When I had to make it narrower, it lost some of the design I'd wanted in there. :-? Ah well.
Isaac, I have a poncho - does that count? *grin*

I keep trying to get pictures of all these cars with huge piles of snow on them. But it's dark. There's an inch of ice on the road intermentantly. No worries Rosco, to know how to drive in this is to be a true northerner.

Went to church, came home.
Went over to granny's to help her over to my aunt's house, cause her furnace has went out. She's been sick the last couple days and didn't go to church. Wanted me to come over and help her over to my aunt's (next door) cause she was afraid they would both fall if my aunt tried to help her. I just had her get in the car and drove her up next to the porch.
Anyhoo....
I said the same thing on FB awhile ago!
Lol
Why don't you just run a zip line from your granny's to your aunts houses? Be faster.
Yes, I'm sure that there'd be less likelihood of breaking a hip on a zip line..... :P
I've been going for so long that if I stopped, I don't think I'd ever get started again.
After the wedding I went home, ate a rather large turkey, ham and cheese sandwich, and went back to church for christmas play practice. And, as it turned out, children's church music practice, and sign team practice, and typing the bulletin, and finding out the people who were supposed to clean the church didn't, so the pastor, wife and I vacuumed it real quick. Then I set some eggs boiling and Grandma said she'd take them off when they were hard-boiled, then I went to Wal-Mart for a few things...
Now I just have to make the hard-boiled eggs into deviled eggs, pick up the church bus for tomorrow, and I'm done.
This week has been MUCH better than I thought it would be. Busier, but much better.
Back at work. One more day, then it's five glorious days off....
:hi:
Went to church, went to Sis. Mildred's (who hasn't been able to get out lately) house, came home....
Messed the computer up at church and cannot fix it....*sigh*
Had a preacher today and he just came back from Brazil and had a slideshow of a few pictures. I could've probably opened it in Powerpoint if I'd had sense, but I didn't try that, just opened it straight off his file, and it wouldn't play the slideshow on the screen, it would only play it on the monitor side...
So I switched the Nvidia option thingy to which screen was default or whatever, and got it to play...but then trying to get it switched back, it just got all balled up and then now it won't recognize the monitor, and when I try to open windows they're opening on what is supposed to be the monitor, but I can't find them to drag them back to where I can see them because nothing is showing up on the monitor....
I can start the computer in safe mode and it comes up on the monitor fine, but it won't acknowledge the projector in safe mode or let me reset the video options etc., that I can figure out....
I'm at a horrible loss and don't know what to do to it.
I JUST WANT IT BACK LIKE IT WAS! :reaction:
:headrub:
I am of no help here. My solution involves this... :uzi: and this... :fire:.... and this.... :2pistol: followed by this.... :tank:
Then go buy a new one. :P
And totally unrelated, my love of old country musicians that sing gospel and ebay are gonna get me killed. I found a Gene Watson gospel cd......yes, it would make Ruby and Jenn barf, but it will do quite well for me to sing loudly along with while driving in to work or driving Rusty. So I bought it. :P Now to 1) beat Lou home and get the mail every day for the next week 2) Copy the cd for Bro Papa and 3) slip into the music collection where it will lay hopefully unnoticed for a while. That way, when Lou sees it and asks about it I can truthfully say " Oh, I've had that for a while". :P Lands. If it was a froo-froo "Jesus is my boyfiend" album I wouldn't have to resort to such measures. :pound:
Roscoe: Froo froo? And did you intend to spell it boyfiend, or was that a Freudian slip?
Seth have you tried unplugging all monitors and projectors except the one you want to use? If it is the only monitor connected, the computer should default to it. Then go into nVidia and make sure to set it as the default. Then reconnect the projector and reset it as the secondary display, then open PowerPoint or whatever you use for in-service displays and make sure it is using the projector again.
I remember when the computers at McDonald's went out in a power outage, and when they came back up the order display out front was showing what should have been showing back in the office. And the boss didn't know anything about BIOS, and couldn't see what she was doing if she had known... I had to stand out there where the screen was and yell back to her to hit the arrow key over, over, enter, down three... Finally got it working again, but man what a headache!

No, I couldn't find any way to do it.....I looked around for it and couldn't find anything....
And, what I need to be able to see when I open a new window opens up on the monitor screen that is not showing anything up.
I unplugged the projector cord from the comp at one point. I don't think I restarted while I had it unplugged....but just unplugging it alone didn't help me any.
I don't know how it got screwed up so bad.... Oy.

Maybe.
30 more mins on this bus. Whew doggie. Don't know if I can even walk after riding this long.
Went to church, ate lunch at church, came home, helped Grandma with (yet another round of) candy/cookie making, went to church for one last christmas play practice, had the church christmas program, went to a restaurant with family, came home, fell over.
Grandma has become a candy making machine. Chocolate oatmeal cookies, peanut butter fudge, chocolate truffles, sugar free chocolate truffles... she's doing this instead of presents this year for most people. She was making the stuff almost all day yesterday and after church today. I help her when I'm here, but I've been a bit busy.
I got rid of all the sourdough bread while they were handing out presents at the end of the church christmas program. Some of them were watching me to make sure I didn't run out before I got to them, and a couple families must have got a bit nervous because they started asking where theirs was before I even got there.
Today has been hectic, but a lot of fun.
In sadder news, funeral tomorrow for the eldest son of a good friend of our church. We'll be up there cooking bright and early, because this is the south and we find comfort food useful at funerals. I can't even imagine what it would be like to have to bury a family member on christmas eve. :-\

You may wait on the bus when you try to get off the bus!
I used the church folks for gineau pigs today. I tried a new deviled egg idea, mixing cream cheese, plain yogurt, mustard and lemon juice in the egg yolks. I boiled 30 eggs, that's 60 halves, and they were all eaten, so I guess it was a success. Should have thought of cream cheese long ago.
That sounds really yummy, Isaac.
Had a potluck today. I took potato soup in the crockpot, and cranberry clusters. The soup was GONE, with people asking for more. And what was left of the cranberry clusters I sent home with one of my favorite people - an older man who has adopted me and Chris as his kids/grandkids. He 'specially likes them, and it's been a horrid week for him (lost a family member) so sending home the rest of the cranberry clusters with him made me feel like I was putting at least a small smile back into his life.
Seems like so many people are really hurting this Christmas.

Sorry to hear that SippinTea.
On our side, my sister is duking it out with cancer. The mass is putting pressure on one of her kidneys - the good one, that used to be taking up the slack for the bad one - and they couldn't put a stent in. They got it stabilized eventually though, and she's continuing chemo. Right now they're talking about treating it long-term as a chronic illness, and speaking in terms of her maybe lasting a few more years.
I don't usually like to talk about negatives, but there it is.

Apparently my uncle Fred really likes deviled eggs. In our family we have a finger-food family supper on Christmas eve and he has asked me more than once if I'm going to make deviled eggs.
Gone to chu'ch, ciao for now.
:waving:
Just checking in :hi:
Wow. I slept like a brick!
I don't think I've slept that soundly in a LONG time. I went to sleep after 1, and woke up about 10:30. I vaguely remember waking up and going potty once. I usually sleep fitfully and am up and down all night long, but I actually rested! I feel so much better already.
Even with Jessica (17) in the other bed snoring and snorting like a pig...she's all sick and congested. (I'm gonna get me some airborne stuff today so I don't get sick while sharing a room with her.
Thank you Jesus for this time away and a great nights sleep!
Broadcasting live from the church sound booth. This funeral seems a bit better planned than the last one we did here.
Gonna be a looooooooooong day. And in sharp contrast to all last week, this doesn't look like a fun one. I feel sorry for these people. Christmas time is going to be marred for a long time to come for them. And there's nothing I can do about it.
Merry Christmas!
Yes, it does appear it will be a merry one. May you have a merry one as well.
I got a buttermilk pie! :D :D :D
I love it when there are leftovers at church.
Currently tucked in bed eating leftover Japanese and watching Firefly. It's my last day/night housesitting then it's off to Morristown tomorrow. We had our Christmas yesterday. Mom bought me some really nice clothes and lots of cheesey Green Bay Packers gear (official Cheesehead included). I asked her if this meant next year I was getting a trip to Lambeau Field.
Also mom gave me awesome gel stuff for my neck and its finally bearable.
Hope everyone has an awesome, blessed Christmas tomorrow!!
Now I am disgruntled. There is no more boiled custard at the store. They got three cases in this morning, and now they are out again, and that's it for the whole year.
But I happened to see something I had never before seen on the store shelves - Borden's dutch chocolate milk - and I recall a friend saying it was very good, so I tried it. And it was.
Poor Isaac. I wish there had been more boiled custard so you could be gruntled. :P
I made it through my day....now I'm off 'til Sunday. :clap2: On a not so positive note, they are predicting up to 5 inches of snow tomorrow and tomorrow night. If we've gotta get that nasty white stuff, why can't it come on a work day and give me a reason to call in?!? It ain't fair to come in on my day off. :fire:
Talk about exactly wrong on the timing- and it ain't gonna get here until the evening time, so I can't even use it for an excuse to avoid the in-laws. :pound:
I have waited all day to annoy you, and you never texted me... :ugly:
Ready to get Christmas over with. *sigh*
Roscoe: You don't like your in-laws?
Your comment about the snow reminds me of a Calvin & Hobbes comic where Calvin was sick in the summer. "But I'm not getting to miss any school, I can't be sick on summer vacation... Somebody owes me big for this!"
Quite the opposite, Isaac. I'm just a weirdo....I get VERY uncomfortable around more than just a handful of people. Never have a problem around church, but in close quarters I am as uncomfortable as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
My inlaws are terrific people, but I don't have alot in common with most of them- if you don't talk NASCAR, hunting, or dirt track racing, you are out of the conversation, and I don't hunt, dirt track and hate Nascar....
Between these two reasons, I'd much rather be at home. :smirk2:
I found the secret to that kind of thing. I just sit and listen. Nobody notices, as they are intent on their own conversations, and I can pick up a lot of useful, or sometimes useless, information.
Or sometimes I just sit and think my own thoughts and let the conversation flow on around me. But don't tell them that. :P
:sing: Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas! :sing:
I was going to say just sit and don't say anything, it's what I do. :smirk2: What I did at my nephew's today.
Home from there after the bit of running about.
Dad acted like he was going to go till time to go, then said he wasn't. That it was too late to go. It was a little before noon when we left home. 1:30 when we got up there. My sister and niece and her husband didn't even get up there till like 3. Poor dad is just a strange old soul.
Merry Christmas, everyone!!! :)
:beret:
Looks like a quiet Christmas day here. We're not having the family Christmas get-together until New Year's day because some of my family has the flu, and my uncle's mother is in the hospital. Grandma says she could use a quiet day to rest. After the last nine days, so could I. But it's been a lot of fun.
What *I'm* looking forward to is tomorrow. :D I can get twice as much Delacre and Royal Dansk when it's half price.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! I hope it is wonderful for all of you.
My sister is coming over in a few minutes and we are goig to have a big Christmas breakfast. She's promised to teach me how to make my Mama's Buttermilk biscuits, which is something I have never mastered. I can't wait!
Buttermilk biscuits, ham, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy with tons of sausage, hash browns....mmmm. And as an extra treat, my mama's homemade "chocolate biscuits". :clap2:
No, the biscuit itself is not chocolate. It is something my mama created long ago for us kids and the family loved them. She took biscuit dough-homemade of course- spread it out a bit, put a mixture of cocoa and sugar on it, and folded it on itself, and dabbed the top with a bit of butter. Baked it like normal. They come out hot and golden with a chocolaty river inside. We had bags of these in the fridge all the time when I was a wee lad- they were our snack. I've never saw anyone else make them and long for them all the time...
Made it to my families. At least they've fed me breakfast this time. 1 meal is better than none!! They are all currently fawning over Paige and her boyfriend. Ugh.
Anyway, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!
It's Christmas. Yay. :smirk2:
It's (munch) Christmas. Yay! (burp)
We didn't have a traditional family Christmas, but we did have breakfast up at uncle Fred's, and Sis. Jackson came. I got a head start - since a bit after 6am I've been munching on the dark chocolate/oatmeal cookies Grandma made me for Christmas.

Let me know when you have a bag of them in your fridge...its only a mere 3 hours 15 minutes over to your place.
Why drive? Just have him ship them over. :P
I'd prefer the visit. :hypocrite:
And something is wrong. I ordered sunny and 70 degree weather. Instead it's hoovering around or below freezing, and the wind is blowing nonestop. The Weather service just advised that my area- Central Arkansas, NOT North Dakota- is under a flowerin' BLIZZARD warning, and to expect from 6 inches up to a FOOT of snow. I am not amused.
And figuring it would be, as usual, a none-event, I didn't buy any propane. If the power goes out, I'll be cuddling under blankets.
Could be worse. Chel reports snow, ice and tornado... and she's at work. I questioned that - snow and ice usually go together, but I'm not accustomed to seeing "tornado" in conjunction with those. Yahoo news just had a report about it too.
Tornadoes? On Christmas day?
Snowing like crazy here in DFW!!! So excited!
Just got done eating lunch.
I'm stuffed!
Well.....so much for the trip to Lou's mama's house. It had just started sleeting when we left....six miles later, we were sliding sideways. It is pure dee slick as snot out there in a space of about thirty minutes. Had the Caddy all over the road. Told Lou and chey we were going back home, and did so. And as far as the tornados and snow- well, we had loud thundering and sleet/snow a few ago, and I've never heard of that.....
Good thing it WAS a Caddy. Them things are built like a brick. If you had run into anything, the Caddy would probably have won the argument.
Which is one of the main reasons we chose it a few years ago. One of the main selling points for me (rear wheel drive) is a liability in slick icy weather though....
My nephew wanted me to come get him 40 miles away in the mountains. He'd rode his motorcycle there and said it was too slick to ride any farther. Hate to be him and hate seeming cold hearted but I don't have anything that will make it there.... :(
Glad you're getting a white Christmas Jenn. My Aunt and Uncle live in FLower Mound.
I can hardly believe we're getting snow. We NEVER get snow, especially this time of year and it's actually trying to stick.
It is blowing 100 miles a hour here, but the snow stopped. *sigh*
I wish we would get several feet of snow.

I'm dreaming of a white christmas
With tons of snow piled all around
When the family's here for dinner
It would sure be a winner
For them to be stuck here, and safe, and sound! :)

Just because you hate snow, weather, people and everything else in the world does not mean everyone shares all or any of your opinions.
Several feet of snow is only fun to look at in a picture.
Has anyone heard from Roscoe since after that storm went through? It was spitting tornadoes in Arkansas.
He's too heavy and low-to-the-ground to be bothered by a tornado.
Yes, of course, and you could just get your chickens to fly you to safety.
Seriously, has anyone heard from him?
We are fine. Just being blessed with an overabundance of snow. I've not heard of any tornados around here, just alot of wind, snow and ice.
Well it's too late to send it over here, the family left for their respective homes. No snowing them in here tonight.
And if it snows us in too bad for me to get to Wal-Mart tomorrow morning I am going to be very, extremely ticked. :demand:
I have had the best day ever!
It was so nice to have Christmas without all the usual junk that I'm accustomed to being christmas for us. It was great being away.
Headed to bed now. :D
Howdy! Worked the winter storm practically by mysef at the radio stations, and now I'll need to be polite for the next week or two while people ask me if I had a good Christmas.
Newsman I regret to inform you that "Howdy" is copyrighted by the state of Tennessee. Only natives may use it freely. All foreigners must apply for a permit. :nono: This also applies to "y'all" and it is to ensure that y'all foreigners know how to use the terms properly before ya use them.
I have a little canker sore, or something, at the base of my uvula.
:sadbounce:
:reaction:
It's thunder snowing.
Unlike Roscoe, I have heard that before.
So much going on around here! I went to mom's for the holidays. Got to watch our classic Christmas movie :)
My nephews are soooo ungrateful! They looked at their presents and said "why's there only 2?" lol Little brats.
Part 1 of my diet is done  Just 1 part left then maintain a healthy lifestyle. Gonna try to make some pumpkin muffins next week with coconut flour. Hopefully they turn out ok
I hate snow. :reaction:
I do too. Mom's getting 3-12 inches today. We're supposed to have a little but more windy than anything.
We got it! And I love it!
The only thing I hate about it is Texan's are so DUMB when it comes to driving in it.
They don't know how to drive in it....like today on the way in. There is NO snow on the roads, or about 90% of them are snow/ice free. Some of them, there is literally NO condensation at all on them. Yet people are still putt putting along....
Bro Papa said he got over a foot....we got around 6 to 8 inches just north of him. I'm listening to the police radio and just heard a trooper friend tell dispatch he'd been rearended while parked on the side of the road with another stranded motorist. a few minutes later- "Dispatch, someone just rearended the car that hit me, it hit me again and now my car has rolled down into the ditch." :P
Glad I'm not out there in that mess...
Kinda the same here - only in reverse. People think they know how to drive on snowy/icy roads so they just drive however they want. No wrecks this morning on my way though.
Here they usually drive either too fast or too slow. I think I'd rather them go slow than think they can fly and then slide into you.
Ah, I hope you all are enjoying your white Christmas! lol
Ours is nearly gone in KC.
Nathan is off till the 3rd and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Yesterday's Christmas dinner went great. The new gouda corn casserole turned out well and so did the lamb roast. My SIL got me a large jar of cold pressed organic coconut oil. :thumbsup2:
We had a friend over yesterday and she was feeling the same way. She said she wanted to try and read a Shakespeare piece this coming year so we got her a comedic one that has the modern translation on the facing page. She got teary eyed that we listen to her random ramblings... lol
God is good, I'm so thankful for sweet sweet people.
We got a Furby for Hannah. It may not live long... It changes personality based on how much attention it receives. Little attention= rude bratty Furby. Hmmmm....
Grandma got one of those jars, and has no idea what to do with it. All we can figure out is the Ice Cube chocolates I like, the first ingredient is coconut oil. Hmm...
OH my goodness. Cold pressed? It's practically liquid gold, Isaac. Which is why it's so expensive. Health wise it helps your digestion, it helps you burn bad fat.
It's antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial. So you can use it on cuts, rashes, etc. It's the only? oil that doesn't clog your pores but is absorbed right into your skin with direct nutrients. Which makes it an absolutely amazing lotion. A little goes a looong way. It stays fresh as long as the lid is on tight, for a long time.
It heals your hair ends w/o making hair greasy.
It helps balance your mouth flora which toothpaste and mouthwash destroy causing cavaties, bad breath and discoloration.
You can fry with it, you can replace any oil/butter with it. It's packed of vitamins. You can whip into a whipped cream.

Here is one photo of our snow.

Mmmm...coconut oil! I use it with just about everything. I make a pretty mean chocolate treat with it :) It's good for cooking meat too.
3 more hours to go! Then grocery shopping (yay).

Whoever wants snow, come and get all you want. Bring a freight train and load er up. Somewhere around a foot to spare.
Same here. Looks like it's supposed to snow all day :smirk2: Even BEFORE I get off work. Thought it was supposed to start after :sadbounce:
Oh well, still going to the grocery store. Anyone know of a really good digital camera that doesn't cost too much? (Like..under $40)
Um... "really good" and "under $40" are mutually contradictory for cameras. But basic consumer cameras are going out of style now - everyone uses smartphones for pics.
My best bet would be go to amazon, cameras, sort by lowest price first, then look through until you find one with good customer reviews.
Boom.
http://www.amazon.com/Kodak-DC215-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B00004TH2Y/ref=sr_1_7?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1356546344&sr=1-7&keywords=digital+camera
Only has 2X optical zoom though.
Here's a list.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_72_0?rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A%21493964%2Cn%3A502394%2Ck%3Adigital+camera%2Cn%3A281052%2Cp_72%3A1248879011&bbn=281052&sort=price&keywords=digital+camera&ie=UTF8&qid=1356546325&rnid=1248877011
Sorted by lowest price first, only 4 star and higher reviews. Just be wary of the ones with only one review, that is 5 stars... look at the ones that have five reviews or more.
Yes, being a nerd can come in handy. :D
Thanks! I just need one with good zoom. I found one at Meijer but it's $80...then Wal Mart but it's $60. I just need it for one time use pretty much so I don't really wanna spend tooooo much.

Talia & family is in Mississippi with Ben's family. I don't know if they got snow. They won't be back here until the 1st and I'm sure it will all be gone by then. I do wish she could see it. :(
All we've gotten is lots and lots and lots of rain thus far. Our snow is supposed to start tonight and go into tomorrow. I hope it's up to my bum!
Paige gave me her cold for Christmas. She's such a sweet sister  I'm going to medicate and lay down. Won't be for long though. I have to blow my nose about every 30 seconds...
It was 9 inches or so here. Puke.
It's such a pain.
But it was humorous to see a goose slide down a hill on it's belly like a sled though.
I'm interested to see how my dog does in the snow. She's only a year and half old and hasn't really seen any.
I potentially see an upside to the snow. I didn't have to have a sermon prepared for the night, as we cancelled services due to the mess. Just like a blanket of forgiveness, it covered my slothfulness. :laughhard:
I've spent all day lounging around, mainly in my recliner. It started with a good book, but according to the drool marks on the pages, I only got about three pages in....
No snow here still, so we're still having church. Fortunately God gave me a sermon days ago.
Roscoe I've found when a sermon or lesson just won't jell, it usually means you won't get to preach it anyway, you just haven't found out about the cancellation yet. It has happened many times with Children's Church, usually because nobody told me we wouldn't be having Children's Church that night.
This is the second day in a row that I have spent the entire day inside and not set one foot outside all day long!
It's cold and wet, we have a TON of food, and the family and friends have been pouring in and out of the house...there is no reason to leave the house!
I'm on vacation!! And it is GREAT!
We had a lovely white Christmas here, too. :) And I am TOTALLY with Mini... I absolutely love it when we have more than a foot of snow. :bigcheese: Hasn't been that deep in quite a while though.
:beret:
We had a wet Christmas, but it wasn't a white one. We're still having our Christmas family celebration at New Year's though, so maybe it'll be white by then.
T'is the season for leftovers in every corner of the fridge. I am having difficulty deciding what to eat for supper.
Saw this in news and it reminded me of what y'all were talking about a few days ago.
http://autos.yahoo.com/news/delays-litter-long-road-vehicle-rearview-rules-102153265--finance.html
Spent the entire evening in the ER. The little mama that comes over a couple of times a week for a glass of tea and usually a meal had an aneurysm. There's a lot of bleeding on the brain, her brain is swollen because of it and her blood pressure was 600 at some point. She went into some kind of coma and now they have been into her head trying to drain some of the blood so she's in a med. induced coma. They said she'd probably be in the hospital a good few weeks and then physical therapy depending on how much brain damage she has. They expect it to be a significant amount of work for her recovery. They are right now going into her head and putting tubes or coils or something. If that doesn't do the trick, she has to have even more major brain surgery at some point.
She's 50 something, diabetic, overweight. It's suspected, since she doesn't eat right like she is supposed to that her blood sugar got out of whack, made her sick. We know it gave her a horrible headache. She was vomiting, etc so fiercely that it cause the already stressed blood vessel to burst. Me and another person were amused at the idea of this little feisty mama being stuck in a hospital bed getting after people because she is such a choleric. We adore her regardless... lol
And then we agreed, one good thing is that she will be on a diabetic diet for the month or so that she is there. It shouldn't take such drastic measures to get a person in a position to eat right but I'm convinced there is a real lust about food that at least some people deal with. People don't want to give up or even just minimize and balance out, what is literally killing them.
I'm exhausted.
Dear me.
My sister asked me to clean the apartment building tomorrow morning.... Other than that I need to tend fowl and clean the walks off at church....
I still have to do cards...I suppose I'll aim for that Friday and Saturday at this point..... Changeover from Christmas to Valentines Day. Lord.
Well, 'y'all' may have it copyrighgted in Tennessee, but we'uns ain't IN Tennessee! :)

MellowYellow: I have a theory that the best way to start a new diet lifestyle is to move to a different part of the country where you don't HAVE the familiar foods you love. Or very many familiar foods at all, for that matter. I know if I moved to the north, where they don't have fried catfish, buttermilk pie, pan-fried chicken livers, etc. I'd probably find it easier to "reset" my tastes to healthier things.
Morning everyone :hi:
We got around 4-6 inches of snow here. Roads weren't bad but there were plenty of accidents. Someone in front of me slid off the road and almost caused a 3-4 car wreck.
Everyone made it to work safe and sound, thank goodness.

I completely agree with this. I think we all do this. We think we can sacrifice other things, other habits that cause us to stumble, but we never think that food is also a cause. We eat what we want, when we want without a care for how it's effecting our bodies now, and in the long-run. It's HARD....hard to change your eating habits. Hard to change your portion sizes (because ANY restaurant gives you 2-3 times more food than a normal portion). This topic convicts me....it's a spiritual thing for me...I think God intended it to be, but we don't see it that way. Not saying I'm perfect in anyway in this area, because I eat too much, and the wrong things at times too. But...I dunno....
:hi: I'm at work.
I'm at home, listening to the halleluia chorus from Handel's Messiah. Found the record at a flea market.
I, too, am at home. List of things I need to do, including a trip to town that may wait until this evening. Managed to pay a bill off.
Oh, and Bank of America's internal communications, uh, inhale strongly and rapidly, with a great amount of suction. We closed on our loan last thursday- we had our mortgage with Bank of America, and refinanced with the SAME company. They call me this morning wanting me to pay a late payment.....the only payment we've ever been late on was this last month, which we were told not to make and use to close the new loan, by their people.
I explained the situation. The lady's response " So, can we bring this current by you making a payment today? " No. I am not giving you $650 for you to draw interest off of for a month or how ever long before you decide to refund it to me. She wanted to warn me it "could adversely affect your credit" Lady, for God's sake, I refinanced WITH YOUR COMPANY. I DIDN'T MISS A PAYMENT!
Morons. Stupidity reigns supreme. So help me Lord, if my credit score takes a hit, they will too........And that's my morning rant.
I've got the post Christmas blues. At least it will snow tonight and tomorrow. That will help as well as going to the mall to be around people.
Going to the mall usually puts me in a worse mood lol I don't like being around all those people and most are rude.
Trying to figure out what to make for dinner. I guess he could eat leftovers and I can just eat a piece of chicken like I did last night. I kinda liked the cheese on top of the chicken. I shouldn't have put cheese on both sides though :smirk2: lol This time I think I'll season it up then wait until it's almost done to put a little cheese on top.
I'm sick.
I'm tired.
I'm beyond frustrated.
I shall leave today at that.
Isaac, we do have fried catfish. Both the big crunchiness and with corn breading. I wouldn't consider that unhealthy if it was in a good oil, a heartier breading, in moderation, and in conjunction with some nutritious veggies. I have never seen buttermilk pie but a good buttermilk is healthy so I don't know about that one. I think before all the processed foods, those things were actually all healthy and so it got passed down from generations but people chose cheaper/convenient other ways
to make it, and some also got out of balance till it is void of nutrition and sustanance.
Did you know that your stomach has... oh what was it, like 7 different type of sensory cells. They read different things that tell us whether we should continue to eat or stop. Some measure fat content, some measure actually volume, some measure nutrition, some measure viable energy burning substance, and so on. If our food is void of much to keep us going, our bodies will still feel hungry.
From what I'm learning, there are many foods that just need a bit tweaked and balanced using whole foods (or less processed), to make it a healthy or healthier choice.
Jenn, I was just talking to someone about Luke 12:23. How the world propagates food practically like sex. We're bombarded from all over the place to eat larger portions, excess "treat" things in sugars and fats, and to crave and urge for it even when we don't need it. It's kinda crazy. Jesus didn't want us to focus to much on food, but they lived in a day where whole foods weren't an issue. What and when God provided is not the same context as someone gives you a box of twinkies and that's God's provision. LOL What God made is enough. By eating to pacify our flesh instead of just to sustain us, food becomes a huge focus. Eat garbage today and be diabetic/heart problems tomorrow where you have to think about everything you eat for the rest of your life. So now, I find there is a focus to be put on food for the purpose of people getting a right perspective about it so we can move forward and go on with our lives w/o being oppressed by our health. Then we can truly not worry about food at all. As much as I talk about food, I actually crave less and care less about eating in general. But I believe it's cause God is teaching me some sense in what I eat so that it's not causing me issues later. I get excited about feeding my family decently and knowing that it's going to sustain them. I get excited about others being better stewards and feeling better in their life so that their thoughts and energy can go to bigger and better things!
It's always a work in progress though and much easier to say than do. Thank God for His grace. At the end of the day how we treat this temple is less about the physical and more about how we feel about God and what He's given us anyway. Just like standards and anything else. I think the understanding gets a little lost when we see spiritual people who care so little about their bodies that we think it's irrelevant. I think our generation is learning it is relevant and is connected to our spirituality. Also, people like Joy Haney and Vesta Mangun have taught later in their years the importance of taking care of how we go about denying our flesh, to do it wisely. Those are women I greatly admire.

Worked on Nathan's family tree on ancestry.com. It's his mom's side but it's pretty neat. This was a good emotional holiday for him. His mom talked about his bio-dad in private and it allowed Nathan to be able to release the emotions he's had all these years about it all. It's almost like he is able to truly grieve now that it's ok for him to accept openly about what he never had and also lost. I wonder if that is kind of how my dad feels since he was an orphan. I look forward to the day when he finds Jesus and can be healed in that subject. Now we are allowed to speak of it in the open as well. No more reminding the kids that we are going to see one side of the family and not to speak of it when we go directly over to see the other side... lol
The only thing I don't like about the genealogy websites is that it costs so much to have access to information. So we are going to pay for a month sometime soon and try and diligently work on it and then not be a paid subscriber for awhile. It's too time consuming to do every month and costs too much to pay and not use it... lol
We went out and used up some gift cards. Thank the Lord, brown dress shoes are on sale at Target for Hannah. The girl is going through sizes again like she's a giant.
People are generally pleasant and nice in these parts, God's country, but if they are rude, it cheers me up to be nice to them back. I like to do that. Well, we went to Walmart instead which was nice. Then we went to the post office and then to the library. Back home now.
Roscoe - Sorry. :/ You couldn't PAY me to deal with BofA, and that's a fact. We used them in one of the corporation I worked for in my former life, and... let's just say I would NEVER want to use them for banking needs.
Heather.... *HUG*

Yeah. That. :)
Christmas break is already starting to get to me. *wry grin* I'm about ready to send two boys to the zoo. Or maybe CheeseHead's BirdBrain Farm. He could use two slaves, right? :bigcheese: It's amazing how much more NORMAL teen boys can act when they're busy doing productive things. Give them time off, and they turn into animals. :-\ Annoying, under foot, loud, and very pesky. LOL!! But I still love them to pieces. ;)

:o
That's all I'm going to say about that....
Went to work for my sister today, did a couple errands and cleaned off the walk at church, came home, went to church, came home. I got back up the driveway in 2 tries. Go, little Toyota go!
My Trailblazer won't start....I think it must be a bad ignition switch...it's had a few bouts of trouble lately, it seems to be shorted somehow.... I'll have to figure that out and get the stupid thing fixed somehow. Bah.
Roscoe, I'm blessing you for your hateful statements toward the moronicity of Bank of America. It sounds like something I would say. I'm proud.
And Shrewby, yes, send them on. :freaky2:
Took Grandma to pay the phone bill, get gas, go to Wal-Mart, and while we were out I went to get eggs. The last time I went there to get eggs I wiped out their field gate with my minivan - didn't put a scratch on my van, but it sure mangled the gate. They still hadn't called me back about how much it would be for a new one, so I asked while I was there. It was much less than I had feared for a big metal gate.
Today has been a lazy day... the first one since my vacation started almost two weeks ago. That trip was the single only productive thing I did all day, unless you count "proofreading" and editing a few albums. And tomorrow has even less to do, because we already went to the store today so we don't really need to even do that tomorrow.
It's actually kind of nice. :)
It's times like these that I'm glad you don't get eggs from me. :freaky:
Howdy!
I'm still enjoying my time away!
It's been really nice to just chill and have fun. I learned to play rummikub, and I love it! And I won a game of Phase 10 tonight.
Tomorrow, Bubba has to work, so we won't have a vehicle...so it's another day of doing nothing, and that's fine by me!
I blessed you for that, Cheesy.
Mel! Look at you! You found time for ol' friends, even in the middle of a vacation! *sniff* I'm so proud of you.
*yawn* Is it bedtime yet?
:beret:
Morning, everyone :hi:
Glad today's Friday. I gave up looking for a camera. I have one but it got washed and the picture is kinda blurry now. Battery doesn't last very long either, BUT I was just thinking about charging the battery all night tonight and all day tomorrow and hoping and praying it lasts for when I need it. It's a decent camera..we just won't get the best pictures out of it due to the screen.
Morning. Hooray for Friday and another 4 day weekend. :)
Maybe I'll go to Best Buy after work today and look for a camera...
MelodyB: That's actually somewhat impressive. It takes a good long while to win a whole Phase 10 game.
Seth: It was an honest mistake that could happen to anyone. I plain couldn't see the gate from where I was. But I wouldn't buy eggs from you anyway, the commute would be too expensive. :P
In other news, I was very disappointed when I woke up this morning. I was dreaming Chel had dropped by for a visit. She was for some reason reorganizing the silverware drawer when I woke up and realized she wasn't really here. Talk about your letdowns...
I had a dream that my mom was buying ... illegal substances ... from someone down the street :smirk2: Not for herself, but for a friend. I told her shame shame this morning.
I didn't dream last night. I don't dream much.
I'm tired.
Usually when I dream I'm either pregnant (yeah right!) or it has my dad in it. Mom has been in my last couple dreams. Dad was in the one last night too but he looked different.
My pastor's wife is always in my dreams. Not sure why. lol
That's a good thing! One of my last dreams was a 2-in-1 bonus. Mom worked down the hall from my doctor, who was doing an ultrasound because I was pregnant :smirk2: I think I've been dreaming about being pregnant so much lately because I'm about to turn 27 and I've been thinking more and more about having children. (Not now, but soon)
Gee, I had weird reoccuring dreams last night, dreams that aren't attainable to this day. I also dreamt of flying over the world. The other night I dreamt of all my hair cut to my chin! :o Aweful, simply awful dream. Was glad I woke up and found all my hair there uncut and safe. I used to be a hairstylist in a salon before I became apostolic back in 1998-2002 and people used to hack my hair that short.
It's snowing! It looks so fluffy. Suppose to get up to 4 inches or so.
I'm back at home. Got a large roast in the crockpot with onions and bbq sauce for dinner tonight. Plan on repeating yesterday- that is, not doing much of anything.
And Isaac, I apologize for the next sharing title, well, kinda. In a really not sincere way....unless you are offended, in which case the apology is totally sincere. LOL. The title rhymed.
I also am not doing much of anything today. And the thread title is amusing. But still no more bread for you. :P
ladyshep I heard if you dream you're flying, you are optimistic about the future. If you can't control where you fly you're cautiously optimistic. If you can control where you fly you're very optimistic.
I have won at Phase 10 lots of times. My score last night was 60, but my all time best was 5.
We have a score book we write in and don't throw away. So we can go back and look when we played and who won...we also write little notes in it, we've been keeping it since 2004 and it is downright hilarious to read!

Meanie. You should not hold ought against thy brother... :hypocrite: And what if you dream you are falling from a great height??
not sure if I do control, I think I do in all my flying dreams. But I only fly all over the US and even down to Hawaii. LOL
Mel slipped in there and I didn't notice it. I haven't played Phase 10 in forever. It used to be my favorite game...
Falling? Beats me. I do know that if you dream your teeth are rotting and falling out, it means you're apprehensive about something. If you dream you need to go to the bathroom it means you're feeling pressure about a situation. Or you may really need to use the bathroom. Or you may already have.
So the main system we use at work hasn't worked since last night :smirk2:
I just keep sitting here...and sitting here...
Still leaving at my usual time though. SR called already to tease us about how we just have to sit here and he's at home. lol
What they won't let you read a book or play video games or something?
I'd have brought my laptop and done music stuff. :D
Nah, we can do all that. I just didn't expect it to be down so I didn't bring anything. lol I've just been surfing the internet and trying to do as much work as I can which basically only includes returning voicemails.
*cricket*
Still nothing :smirk2:
Not that I mind not having to work...but it's the end of the month AND year...and all this goes toward our monthly audit scores, which in turn plays a role into how much of a raise we get. *sigh*
Just got back from lunch. Hubby brought me some fried catfish.
House smells good, like bbq'ing meat. :fork: I've washed the dishes, so that's my good hubby move for the day. And I called Bank of America to beller loudly at the person I was most familiar with through the refinance process. She was out of the office for the holidays- smart woman- but I managed to talk to a real live human, who was very sweet and assured me that they would not slam my credit report, ect, and then checked on the status of having the loan resolved.
Turns out I had three days to bail on them and they couldn't do anything until yesterday when that time was up. She told me I might receive another call, but to please have them call her in a conference call and she would resolve it. She even called me "dear"- something I was not expecting from an Ohio yankee. :o
I am pleased. For now. *I reserve the right to fire bomb. ect, if said matter winds up not being resolved* ( Mel, I'll pay for your trip to do the actual fire related activities since I know how much you love fire. And Ohio and Indiana isn't that far apart so you can flee to Cheese's) :laughhard:
Unfortunately the :laughhard: showed up normal size, totally giving it away... :P

Oops. Maybe I shouldn't have laughed.
Weirdos.
You called? :)
John :waving:
Oh you dirty scoundrel. :pound:
