Melodya, the birds need the prayers...I asked the Lord to help keep things safe myself, cause everytime I am ill, some tragedy seems to befall....  I'm supposed to not lift over 5 pounds for 4 weeks....that's gonna make it really hard to run a bird farm.....holy crud....

Well, yesterday was stinky....  I was super nervous, but things went okay as far as that goes...  The worst of the pain that I have is from having air in my abdomen, that's still not gone....makes it hurt up in my shoulder, and etc.  The incisions and stuff are sore, but the other stuff HURTS....  And my sugar is sky high....  I ended up trying to call the hospital to ask a question about that last night.  There is NO ONE in the whole hospital that can answer a post-surgery question for you like that.  I find that to be totally pitiful....you'd think a surgery department nurse or something should be able to answer simple questions people have....  So I called and had the doctor paged.  He said the high sugar was just a physiological stress response to having had surgery.  Which makes sense I guess...your body has experienced trauma so it's trying to provide "energy" or whatever to itself...I dunno if that's the deal or what...  He disagreed with my description of "sky high" and said to him that would be like 400.  Mine was 198 at one point last night.  To ME that IS sky high....  he said unless it was 250, 300, etc. it gives him no cause for concern.  So hopefully that will just level back out normal as I recuperate with no probs.

He seemed a bit miffed, or something so to speak, that I hadn't discussed my hypoglycemic history with him directly before....I see his point on one hand, BUT, that also aggravates me because if he'd read my chart he should see all that.  That should all be on my record from when I was admitted to the hospital last month and everything cause they ask all that stuff on admission...  It's not my fault if he doesn't pay attention to that I don't think....  I told nurses back then.  I told the preop nurse the other day, and the nurses yesterday.  And everyone of them acted like that was no problem at all to be able to monitor me and make sure everything was okay.  I told the anesthesiologist because he would be the one monitoring my vitals, he acted like that was no problem at all as well.  That they could monitor it, give me something if it was low or anything (which turned out to NOT be the issue at all....none of them ever mentioned the whole stress response making it go high to me either, looks like they would've)....

Anyways, when I woke up in recovery, after I came to a bit, I asked the nurse if she could check it cause I wondered if it was okay.

And what answer do you think I get?

No.  I don't have an order for that.

:getangry:

I said then why has everybody else told me you could check it!?

That aggravated me.  They all said they could, and then when I asked...no.

After that I got mad, I think perhaps aided by the meds I'd been given....  My sister has had that response after being put under anesthesia before too, being madder than fire after we come back to ourselves. lol  (Makes me wonder if I would be a mean drunk if I was a drinker. lol)

Then in the second stage of recovery the nurse was trying to run me out faster than I wanted to go.  I took my sweet time about it and let her just kiss my behind because I didn't feel like moving the way she wanted me to.

Anyways....I lived...so far. lol

Blah.

Don't ever have appendicitis, it's not worth it!!!!!!

Well some lady called from the hospital to check up on me today, and I told her about the issue with them saying they'd monitor my sugar and then not doing it when I asked for it.  SHE herself again told me, that's just a very simple test, they can do it with no big deal, and even if the nurse hadn't had an order for it, she could have easily got one.

Lord.

Makes me wonder if the doc had read my stuff and specifically not signed for that or something....cause he made a statement to me when I talked to him yesterday about sometimes doctors don't give you certain tests because something something something....  I don't know if that was in reference to him knowing I had asked about that or what.

But oh well.  That lady said she'd ask that nurse why she said no.  lol

Chseeads

I forgot to mention the nurse trying to run me out quicker than I felt like getting up.  She said she put me back in the call list for a checkup call again tomorrow, if I don't forget then I can gripe them out about that too.  lol

Looks scrumptious Sarah!  How did it turn out?

Sounds like a bunch of borks, Seth.  Sorry you have to deal with them.

I had a headache like no other yesterday, Nathan does today.  The kind that make you nauseaus. blech.

Also, something cute... There is a boy at church that Hannah is friends with.  He likes her and she likes him but they are not allowed to have more than a crush of course, they're NINE.  Well after church on Sunday he told Hannah very casually, "I like you." to which she replied, "I like you too."  That was it, just simple sharing, they just continued hanging out with the kids that were there.  Children's innocense is so sweet.  This boy's dad is kind of short and so he is taken aback by Nathan's heighth...lol  He said he was scared of Hannah's dad cause he's so big.  lol  It's hilarious, it's a friendly scared... we went out for ice cream on Sun. night and Nathan put his frosty on the table by the boy for a minute and looked at him saying, "Touch it and die."  hahaha, the boy just stared kinda shocked at him.

Have you slapped that one dude from Indiana with a pie in the face today?

Seth---do you know for certain the dr took out your appendix?  I mean--he didn't read your chart obviously.  Maybe he removed your kidney or something  :P

Chseeads

Well, there is a sore spot in the region where my appendix should be, so hopefully that means that's what's gone. lol  They make the incisions on the left side though instead of the right....that was surprising.

Oh...but...um....that's better than what the anesthesiologist said he was there for when he came in to see me, just joking to break the ice or whatever.....then he made another crack about it when I got in the operating room.  :ignore:

Howdy y'all.  Beautiful day out, cloudy, wet, cold, clammy... perfect day for long naps.  Like I (yawn) said, beautiful day.  :)
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

My day went from horrible to productive.   Dylan had a really bad morning.  Truly it isn't fair that a 10 year old has so much fear and anxiety because he is starting a new routine after school.  The joys of Aspergers.    Anyway.  When I left the principal was being "tough" on him and making him get his act together and eat breakfast.

I lost my debit card yesterday before church so today I had to look for it.  Ended up cleaning out my bedroom but found my debit card.  It slipped behind my cedar chest when I laid my coat on it and the card fell out of my pocket.  It was lurking in the shadows but I never "saw" it until my room was torn up and then cleaned back up...lol

Almost time to pick up my heathens.  Hoping Dyl is in a much better mood!

I totally understand the joy of Aspergers...Roomie and Baby Roomie both have it...hers is more mild...his is pretty intense, not sure if it's just the child part and some of it he might outgrow...

the older he gets the better he gets. Or seems to anyway.    The teen years bring a new dynamic so Im hoping its not too rough!

It was great!  I grabbed a differnt type of taco seasoning this time and so it was a bit much...but normally when I make it I use McCormicks low sodium.   I like it best.  I also used a little less sour cream.   I kind of just dolloped a bit on and then spread it into the layer below it.  Eric doesn't like sour cream and he didn't fuss about it so it was a success.   Chase won't eat it because of the black beans but he's the pickiest person alive.  Clint went back for 2nds and the boys had polished it off.

Chseeads

Well I'm afraid Eric and Chase are defective if they don't like sour cream or black beans.  :frownshake:

myhaloisintheshop

Chase won't eat beans unless its baked beans    He is super super picky.  He does LOVE sour cream.

Eric will eat just about anything.  Not really crazy about sour cream though.

tonight there won't be a single complaint--oven fried chicken.  :fork:

Lynx

It's not a total loss... Neither one of them dislikes both things.  One likes sour cream and one likes black beans.

But yeah, they'd still starve if they were at your place Seth.  :P

I've got ribs in the crock pot with BBQ sauce, and gonna have yellow rice and okra to go with it.

And I may go to the ER shortly.

Chseeads

You might as well Mel-Mel and maybe you can get over whatever this crud is.

MelodyB

Everytime I make up my mind to go, I feel better. I don't want to get there and have to lie to them that I'm in pain when I'm not! It's not NEAR as bad as Saturday evening when I went with dad and was crying in the van. But it's a real dull pain right now. And it's even better now than it was just an hour ago.

I hate this coming and going mess. Makes me not know what to do about anything.

I know what you mean...you hate to go if you're getting better...but you hate to not go if it's just the ebb and flow and it'll be back again.... :tearhair:
