The fastest way to lose your thankfulness is to focus on what you want that you don't have.

The easiest way to find your thankfulness is to focus on what you need that God has provided.

One of the best scriptures to preach at this time of year is where the Israelites got tired of mana and demanded meat.

Finally came home from work.....blah.  Worked long so I wouldn't have to run to town again....   I'll have to go Friday and get rid of Thanksgiving crud, but won't have to have another day at least.....

Wal-Mart is the bane of my existence.  They just ruined my day...blah.  I HATE having to deal with managers in there.....or anybody in there for that matter, because NOBODY in the place KNOWS ANYTHING.  They won't talk to you, they walk away while you try to talk to them, no one takes responsibility for anything and they all tell you someone else is who you need to talk to, and it's absolutely pathetic.

Anyways.

I am extremely underemployed.

I need a job that doesn't involve working with any humans.  Or anything living for that matter....though I like working with animals, it can be burdensome and worrisome dealing with their matters of life and death.

I need to be a geologist or archaeologist dealing only with inanimate or long dead things. :P

Try being a cook at a restaurant.  You won't have to deal with the customers, that's the waiters' jobs.

NOT! I was a cook for 6 years and had my fair share of dealing with stupidity. Both of the patrons and fellow coworkers. Blech.

Well we sure had an interesting midweek service! Pastor decided we would have a good ole fashioned testimony service, and this one guy, GREEN with the Holy Ghost and brimming over with the Love of Jesus, said that God told him to sing this song for us, so he did. It was a rap. A real live honest to goodness beat box fo shizzle my nizzle RAP. I thought pastor was gonna FALL OUT! It was great! He threw down for several minutes before he stopped and it was all on the fly! You could tell he made it up as he went along! It was so awesome! Young babies in Christ are so cool. I wish I would have that kind of zeal again. He was just lovin on Jesus tonight.

Several others got up to speak, and others that tried to preach. We sure had a unique mix of it tonight. But the Holy Ghost was there in an awesome way, and it was truly a service to be thankful for! :)

I'm afraid that would still involve plenty of people.

Try being a telemarketer then.  The computer does most of the talking, playing that recorded sales pitch.  All you have to talk to are the 1 out of 10,000 that actually punch 9 to buy whatever it is you're selling.

New Petition. Yayyyy. That'll take a whole 15 minutes maybe. I should be kinda busy today hopefully.

I'm making my grandma's mac n cheese tomorrow and I'm kinda scared I'm gonna ruin it. Not sure if I bought enough cheese..not sure how much macaroni to use..not sure how much milk she used..

She never measured anything when she cooked and it always came out awesome. Just wish I was more like her and my mom.

Guess I gotta wing it. Mom will help some but all she said was "use elbow macaroni, colby cheese and milk. Put enough milk to make it like grandma used to."

Verrrrrry helpful.

Ok now I have a little more to go on for the mac n cheese.

I reeeeeally hope it all turns out the way I want it to. I'm gonna try boiling the sweet potatoes before peeling and cutting them so I don't have to break my hand trying to cut them.

I did that last year and it worked alright.

Ugh. Someone apparently threw a rock and busted one of our windows out here in the apartment. It must have happened when we were at church last night cause we didn't hear anything and Furby would have been going crazy.

So now I'm cleaning up this pig sty so Pastor can be informed and come in here to see for himself.

Did I say something a while ago about a boring week off?  Silly me.

Preached at the nursing home (fill-in for pastor, who usually does that) then got to the church just in time to help them cart all the food over to the city hall where we were serving Thanksgiving lunch.  Just got the dishes done at church, came home and now I'm going to lie down before church tonight.

MUCH better than being bored for a week.  :D

I got a pack of crackers, some BBQ chips, and a Pepsi for thanksgiving dinner. Mamaw moved dinner time so my sister could have her 2nd meal of the day which was conveniently at the exact same time I had to be to work to do kennels. So I've decided next year I'm going to Mel's (or whomever will have me).

We had plenty, and I already informed my family that you will be attending next year. So there you go. You are on the guest list. Don't stand me up! ;)

I am DONE. After a full lunch and then games, dessert, chill time, games, more food and games after that, I am DONE.

Truthfully I think I overdid it today. I'm supposed to be RESTING and taking it easy, but MAN! we had some fun and food! So I'm off to bed.

No shopping for us tomorrow. It's breakfast and then wound care. Then home to chill. The guys have to come fix the window tomorrow too.

I have no money to buy any BF deals, and there's no deals on anything I'd want if I did have...and I wouldn't want to wade into that crowd of loons if I had money or did want anything they have to offer....oy.

I'm going to work tomorrow, and I hope everybody is already back home and sleeping for the day by then.  I'll just be in dollar stores and grocery stores so it shouldn't be anyplace that it's a real
big deal anyways, thank God.  But still.

Exactly my thoughts on the matter.

I don't venture into stores on black friday. It's rediculious in my opinion.

I don't need anything THAT bad.

Definitely staying home.

I went to Target last night for "Black Thursday" haha...it started at 9. We got there about 8:30. Target was SUPER organized. They only let people in 25 at a time. So the store wasn't ridiculously over-packed. And they had stuff sectioned off, and Target "police" all over the place lol...it was VERY organized and functional. I was impressed.

I got a waffle maker, coffee maker and a toaster for $8/each, and Christmas pajama's to wrap and put under my new tree next weekend!!!

My brother and sil got a 32" LCD Apex tv for $149, so we took my brother home after we were done at Target..then my SIL and I got to Kohl's about 10:35pm, to wait for Kohl's sale at midnight. That one was kinda a bust...I got a purse, but my SIL didn't get anything. She was disappointed.

I don't mind the "midnight" sales on Thursday. But I don't think I'd ever do the Black Friday "4am" sales. lol

Lou had to work that madhouse known as "Black Thursday". She said every buggy they had was being used and old women were fussing with each other over bath towels, for heaven's sake. She said from 8:30 ish until 11:40 last night it was a zoo.
She got home around 12:30 this morning and had to be back at the madhouse at 7... :sadbounce:

Chey and I are up and my back feels a little better. After I get the house straightened up some, I'm  going to see if I can get the Studebaker started for the first time in three years..

Well, today was a productive day.

Tomorrow I'll be at the church.  A family wants to use it for a memorial service, and needs someone who knows where everything is in the kitchen and how to run the sound board in the sanctuary.  I never thought a memorial service was that complicated... counting the 2 hours early to set up and the 2 hours after to clean up, it's a full 8 hour shift.

Fortunately there's my little USB clip modem.  And my Linux install is on a flash drive that I can boot on the computer in the sound booth.  I'll be good to go. :D

*HUGS* Ruby AND Mel

I'm not sure I can go anywhere. Got home today (after 5 nights of pet/house-sitting for a girl at work) and Mike (B's dad) told me I wasn't allowed to that again. He missed me too much. Said it was like one of his kids were missing.

Working kennels in the am then to my patents to get my few remaining possessions (including my cat) and we're supposedly done. Just to make the story short and to the point, my sister is the kid that wanted and I was the accident they got stuck with :(

:-\ That's horrid. But I'm really glad B's dad seems to love you a lot. It must make for a MUCH more peaceful living environment.

Isaac, depending how big the memorial service is... ugh. Yeah, they can be wretchedly complicated. I hope it goes well, and that you don't get stuck in family drama. Seems like wedding and funerals/memorial services can bring out the worst in everyone.

Aye, me too - especially as nobody here knows any of them from Adam's house cat.  The person who died was the father of the girlfriend of the friend of a former church member.  All we really know about them is they cremated the deceased, they all come from some place we've never heard of, they want to use the church and they're bringing everything needed for the memorial with them.

Or so they said... then last Wednesday they asked us to supply food.  I just hope there are no other last minute surprises.

Man, now I sound grumpy.  And feel grumpy.  I think it's time to start thinking about going to bed.

So sweet.  Heather you are surely loved.  Jesus fills in the gaps.

Thanksgiving was awesome.  Lunch with the Porters was fantastic!  We could easily have visited longer.  Nathan said as we were leaving that we need to just come for a visit so we're not all so exhausted and short on time.  And he wants to meet Roscoe.  Chel should come too and do a photoshoot of the guys.  I already have an idea.  They could be "working on cutting a tree down" Nathan and Jeremy working the 2 person saw and Roscoe underneath with an ax and an ornery grin.  LOL  Oh and they should do a human triangle!  hahahaha If you guys did that, you could make it the GP Christmas card to send out that year.

Today my great Uncle passed away.  So I'll be heading up north to Iowa soon.  It's only been a few years since my G'ma passed away right after Thanksgiving and it was a bit hard last night to not get choked up for a minute so today I'm kinda feeling a mess.  Such is life, I know.

We're supposed to go get a tree today but on the way home from OKLAHOMA there was a deer in the middle of the road already dead and by time we seen it we couldn't swerve. I'm sure it was left there for someone to take home for Thanksgiving but they should really consider us city folk.   :hypocrite:  Nathan said it knocked something on the underside of the car. So he had to take it in this morning.

I think I'll fill out Christmas cards!  (:

Now that I'm on my laptop I can really type out what's been on my mind for years and I feel as though was confirmed through a dream I had the other night.

I was the result of a teenage pregnancy. Abortion was an option but mom went through with having me, marrying my father, and consequently passing me around to whomever would raise me until I was 4 years old. So pretty much I wasn't wanted. I wasn't planned. I was just consequences that were now part of their lifes. At age 6 my parents had matured, taken to at least keeping me during the week [I was spending ALOT of weekends with my aunt and uncle who had raised me for 3 years when I was younger whom I still love dearly], and decided to have another child. One they had planned on. One that they raised themselves while still shipping me off to random family and friends houses for the weekends and summers. Even back then my sister and I were treated differently. Now that we are older it's all about the fact that Paige is in college and 'doing something with her life'. I too would have went through college had it not been for my father's suicide attempt, mom having to care for him once he was out of the nuthouse, and me dropping out of school to work full-time, pick up a 2nd job, and put food on our table and pay the bills. No one in my family seems to remember that time of our lifes. It's like they have all chosen to ignore it.

Mom tried fighting with me yesterday. I told her sadly the situation is what it is at this point. Her retort was 'well you are what you are'. My reply 'what chances did I have?'

So now all my things are moved [including the Toph man who is currently kitty dancing on my feet] and as soon as I change over cell phones to Brandon's plan my family will have 1 month to change the AT&T account to their name or I'm turning all their phones off. [All 4 cell phones and dad's internet card are in my name because at the time the account was started I was the only one with good credit. I will admit I've thought to be mean and have them all turned off, but I'll give them a chance.]

Sorry to write a book. Just thought I'd give some backstory to the situation. This time I'm truly at peace about the situation. I will no longer let my family dictate my life. They have been a constant roadblock in my walk with God and how I live my life. From today on, no more. I've apologized to all of them and they chose to be mad at me for their own actions. So be it.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful Saturday morning!

In other random sharing...
Chris and I finally hung up some art/framed stuffs on our walls - a year and a half after our wedding. *lol* We also rearranged the living room earlier this week, and both of us are REALLY liking the new arrangement. It's finally starting to feel more like a HOME.

"You wake up in an empty room, with a throbbing headache and no idea where you are.  The moonlight, what little there is, filters through a window with bars across it.  "Man, that must have been some party" you think to yourself, then you remember you don't go to that kind of party.

Looking around, you see a note pinned to the wall.  It says "Get out if you want to live" and the words glow with a faint, pulsating light.  As you watch, the words slowly start swirling and fading until finally there is nothing left but a blank piece of paper.

You shrug and head toward the door.  Time to figure out where you are and how to get back to the comfort of your own home.  As you go out the door, the hallway goes left and right.

To go left, turn to page 22.
To go right, turn to page 47.
"

Well the headache part is true at least.  I woke up with a sinus headache that I'm hoping will shut up and go away before church.  Aside from that, life is good.

Nathan's been fighting a headache off and on for a few days now.  No fun at all.

No one may remember me asking for prayer for my uncle who had left his church and then I learned it was in seeking for something more from God and not rebellion or craziness.  Things have been tense between him and his sister, my aunt who goes to said church.  Abstractly, it's all very interesting.  Both "sides" can be right and wrong.  My uncle could have left under approval of God but still is vulnerable to develope a bitter spirit, ruining the whole precedent for leaving.  He could have left preemptively but seeking God with such integrity that it causes it to work out by grace.  My aunt and her husband, (not saying uncle again, so as not to confuse yas... lol) could have a wrong perspective on my uncle leaving but show grace and such a great testimony that our extended backslidden family so desperately needs to see.  Or be ok with him leaving but kind of cut him off persay.   There is humanity in it all and so it can be complicated.

Thus far both families have expressed tension to me.  However, Thanksgiving was Peaceful!  It was a good visit and I'm so excited at the potential of this maturity.  For them and for the future of many family members watching how it plays out.

Must be the day of headaches. I've been fighting one since about 2:30pm. Got worse, got a little better, got real worse again towards end of the preaching, got better when I had to sing for alter call. Now it's slight but ok.

Fav mini post this week about Heather darlin! Really would love for melbs, Chel and heather to all come down and stay in my new apartment soon!!!!!

Am I am random people?! *waves back*

My head is thumping now too. Been that way for a few hours.

I would LOVE to come visit, Jenn. But as with everything else...time and money. :smirk2: Doesn't look so promising getting to OR for Christmas this year either. *shrug*

Feeling a bit down tonight. I'm still in some pain. Can't be helped. Dad won't let me go to the dr I'm supposed to follow up with cause the first visit is $150.00 and then they would have to drain the cyst on another visit, and no telling how much that would cost. So I'll just deal with it until it ruptures and I get put in the hospital. Then what? Sheesh.

Plus we are supposed to go to the house tomorrow and work there. That always puts me in a great mood.

I'm over it. I honestly just want to go to sleep and not wake up some days. Too much stuff is riding on me day in and day out and I'm just done. I dont care anymore.

At least at the moment I don't. Doesn't seem to be getting any better at all and I just feel DONE.

Anyway. Sorry for a mini-rant. Just being honest tonight. I'm tired of hiding behind smiles. Some days I just CAN'T.

:hi:

Mel, considering you have no (paying) job, and considering your house was flooded out, and considering all the other stuffs going on this year for you... wouldn't you be able to easily get on your state health plan, where you wouldn't have to pay ANYthing? Then your dad couldn't squawk about the money, and I wouldn't have to worry about you getting hospitalized. :-\ (And yes, you're a random people.) ;)

Someone at church (who hasn't been there but a few occasional services lately FINALLY "noticed" I'm pregnant. No, really?!? I'm big as a barn, people (never mind the waddle), and you're just NOW noticing?? Wow. *lol* I couldn't help but laugh. People are funny.

Prolly not. I am a dependent of Dads, and both he and mom get a check. His for Disability and she gets a Social Security check. We were unable to file for any kind of government assistance because they make too much money for three adults. So no section 8, no welfare, no health (except dads is fully covered) and mom and dad can't get foodstamps. I get $200 for myself since I am unemployed, but I can't claim them cause they have a source of income.

I could go have a couple of children and get some assistance I suppose. :smirk2:

And speaking of...preggy pics would be nice before you actually have this baby! :P

SippinTea:  I would be that guy.  If you were listening to a good song I would notice it.  If you had a new laptop I would ask how much RAM it has.  If it's something that doesn't fall in my field of expertise, I wouldn't notice it until... uh... probably until someone else mentions it.

Grandma put a painting in my office at church, on the wall right by the monitor.  I didn't notice it until the pastor's son mentioned it.  Well, how was I supposed to notice it?  It didn't have even a single microchip! :P

Okay, so I'm not seriously big as a barn. It's just that with how short I am, those 16 pounds or so really do show. However........ I just posted a family pic on FB. And delightfully, I managed to NOT look hugely pregnant for the photos. *lol* (Chris's mom has been asking for a photo so she can see how big the boys are getting, and I've been dragging my feet for months. All four of us HATE getting our picture taken. So I decided rather than make it a huge production, I'd just take my camera to church one Sunday and have mom snap a few.) Photos with this family are INSANE. Chris is forever talking in the middle of the picture being taken, Sean doesn't like his smile (so grimaces/smirks instead), and Jason loves being ornery and giving bunny ears or making squinty faces. *siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

*LOL* Oh well. Memories in the making, right? ;)

Must be. I had a headache yesterday and I saw flashes of light the day before. Yesterday my hubby took me to Urgent Care I had vertigo so bad and my ears were hurting. They had to clean out my ears, but the doctor said excess earwax wasn't the thing causing the vertigo. So now I am referred to a vertigo specialist. We missed Sunday School but did get to listen to the sermon.

Had nightmares all night. I think it's stress related. :smirk2:

Got up, went to breakfast, got the homeless ppl, went to the house an got quite a bit done today. Then came home, and went to WM to get some stuff to make hamburgers for supper. YUM! :fork:

Was able to retrieve a few more stuffed animials today...they are washing now to see if I can get the mold smell out before I discount them completely. I had to throw away a lot of my childhood things today. But did salvage my preaching tapes, and my Duckie Christmas ornaments. :)

Win some, lose some. *sigh*

Oh. My. Lord.  Lou brought in a large piece of cake a couple days ago from a friend who bakes. The friend had left it in the oven a bit longe and overcooked the crust and didn't want it. I looked at it and decided there were better things to eat...
Fast forward to today. I'm all outta sweets and have a gnawing pain for them, so the cake meets its match. I figured at least it would be sweet. I cut the overcooked part off, bit into it- and the heavens parted. I have no idea what she calls this, or what she makes it out of, but it tastes like Thinmints.  :o :fork: :fork: ThinMints in a pound cake.  :o :fork: :fork:

First night of "School of Scriptures" w/ Lee Stoneking tonight.  It's Mon-Fri 7-10pm.  It was $100/ person and Nathan and I could not both go, plus as big as my kids are, I'm not comfortable with them being home 3hrs alone every night, at that time of night.  I REALLY hope Nathan explains the syllabus he'll get.  It's no wonder Solomon said he couldn't find a good woman and scarcely a good man. (Ecc 7:28) Men get to go do all this spiritual stuff... lol  Ok, I'm done whining.   I know that is the life of a woman.

I'm going to try and have dinner ready early this week every day.  So far so good..  :teeth:  Stir Fry, Kung Pow Chicken?, pot stickers, and egg rolls & strawberry salad desert.  I'm already beat and it's not even six o'clock yet.. lol  I cleaned the church today and grocery shopped.

Personally, im glad you didnt taste it on Thanksgiving.  I can see the headline now:

"SHORT COP GOES BERSERK OVER THIN MINT CAKE: 14 INJURED AT THANKSGIVING"

I mean, I was riding with you when suddenly, you let out a shriek, pull through 5 lanes of traffic, over a curb and through a flowerbed, do a 180 in a parking lot, and jump out screaming.  I was out the other side of the car screaming and 4 blocks away before I realized I had 2 dozen girl scouts and 8 den mothers running beside me.  One den mom had a girl under each arm and was yelling "NEVER MIND ABOUT THE COOKIES!  JES GET OUTTA MY WAY!!!!" as she run by me.  She out run me in flip flops!  It was at that point I noticed you were not with me.  We found you later in the ER, nearly OD on ThinMints.  Total cost of thin mints?  $489.29.  Total cost of flower bed?  $1234.63.  I have no idea what the ER bill was, let alone the lawyer and 2 dozen lawsuits.

So, I am glad you didnt discover it on thanksgiving.

On a very serious note, when you pray, pray for rain for my great state.  We are in the midst of one of the worst droughts in history.  Seriously, it is dust bowl bad in some parts of the state.  And now, with all the fall foliage about gone, and very dry conditions, we are about to have a bad bad BAD fire season.

I forgot to mention today that we had yet another death in our church family. This Brother was in his 70s at least, maybe 80s, and had cancer. He was taken for emergency surgery Sunday, they opened him up, saw a huge tumor that they could not remove, closed him up again and told the family he would be gone within 24 hours. He died at 2:50am today.

Funeral is Thursday.

God answered our prayers though. Last wednesday we had special prayer for him. That God would heal him completely or just take him cause he was in so much pain and the cancer was so severe. So God answered and took him in less than a week. Thank you Jesus for ending his suffering.

Please say a prayer for the Crocker family. Thanks.

Oh & I seen an 80% dark cholate candybar @ the store & wondered if it'd be good?  I didn't try it though, too much for a candybar.

So now I'm contemplating getting a coffee & going home until praise team practice...

About the 80% chocolate - too strong for most people.  Kick down to 70%, which most dark chocolate lovers enjoy.  If you like it, maybe try 80%, but there are very, very few people who actually enjoy anything above 70%.

Today I'm drinking tea though.  Coconut-Almond-Macadamia tea.  It's pretty good.

Oh my lord. Seth, Thanks to that comment I can just see that little purple critter in Fuzzy's avatar with an open trench coat on.. :laughhard:
And Meller, I am teaching a class that our state requires police to be taught yearly- Racial Profiling and why it's wrong, also known as Bias Based Policing... trying something new. Traditionally, we have one instructor to do it and make third shift and second shift stay over or come in early for the class. It's something I always hated when I worked shift work. Not only is the class mind-numbingly boring,we have it every year and it is repetive junk. No way to spice it up, and when you add officers that have been up all night....not good.
As one of the instructors, I spoke with the chief and offered to teach third shift on their time if two of the other instructors would teach first and second during their normal hours. He was pleased with the idea, since it will minimize the amount of comp time being paid and the schedule shuffling.
And if third shift doesn't appreciate it, next year I'll make 'em come in to my shift for the class.

Long day. I'm tired. Long day again tomorrow. Dialysis, prep food for funeral, pick dad up from dialysis, funeral, feed family of deceased,  clean up, then church in the evening.

Plus, my friend Krissy is being induced tomorrow at 7am. So yeah. Throw a baby in that long day and there ya go.

we just spent 40 minutes looking for $62 that Brandon promised he had given Mike and Mike swearing he didn't have. sure enough Mike gets up to go to the restroom and the $62 was in his pocket  How did these men survive 6 years out here by themselves?!?!?

My mom called today asking if I would go to the Christmas parade with her next thursday. It was an old family tradition that was just a me and her thing. I'm still undecided if I want to or not.

Just one more day dealing with co-employees. Not only would their lifes be easier if they weren't lazy, it would also be better if they could alphabetize

For those that don't know...my friend Jolene who I went to see yesterday, lost the baby last night. She had her in the morning, and because of a birth defect, she didn't live very long. Please say a prayer for the Gould family. Baby Hope was precious.

Then my friend Krissy had her baby girl today. Natural labor, no complications, and the baby is completely perfect and healthy. So far she has not been given a name. We are just calling her Lil Toe cause their last name is Toehay.

The contrast between the experiences I have had the past two days is really hard to swallow. Two sweet baby girls. Two lives. So innocent. But one gone and the other spared. My whole world has seemed to slam into fast forward, and I'm riding a roller coaster of emotions. It's been crazy.

I'm happy for my friends who have their child. And my heart is ripped in pieces over the loss of the other child. Such pain and joy doesn't seem possible to feel at the same time, but that's where I am finding myself at.

So anyway. Here I am. Trying to get back into my normal routine. Without breaking down or losing it.

The Lord giveth and He taketh away. BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD.

Fixing to go to church.

probably black mold or carbon dioxide...

Since when does carbon dioxide inhabit a building and make your nose snotty?  :-?  ???

It could be mold....though I don't smell any moldy smell there...  But my sister told me there is a lawsuit over the construction of the building because the way some stuff was done HAS caused leaks and mold and stuff in some places....

About a tenth of a mile from home, going a good 40 mph, I hit a deer.  Do they watch for you to come and intentionally run out in the road?  Took out a turn signal, but the bumper has no dents, nothing but a bit of fur and a dirty deer smell (at least I assume that's what it is.)

Second deer I've hit on the road I live on.  Apparently it's true what they say about Fords being tough.

School lunches are an irritation for me.  It costs $2.15/day for Andrew to eat lunch at school.  I can make him lunch for FAR cheaper but not necessarily a cold lunch he can take to school.  Bread, cheese, lunch meat and whatever else to actually put enough in a growing 14 yr. old's tummy is a challenge.  But man oh man.  About $43/mo on just his school lunch is ridiculous.

Mel, my heart breaks for the family that lost that precious little one.  And like you, I rejoice with the family that welcomed a new life.

I wish I knew why God allowed somethings to happen the way he does.  I do believe that we will know at some point, until then, its like waiting for a present.  We know we got something, but we are not allowed to peek.  Then one day, it falls in place and we see the picture.

I guess what I am saying is this:  Ill pray for not just peace and comfort for the family that's reeling from the loss, but for understanding.

YOu must have had a nice school.   Andrew has chicken nearly every day.  They rarely ever have beef, the "fresh" produces is always soft/brown and the salads are basically lettuce w/ a random tomato.  Not cool.  They don't have the yucky cliché school foods though of unidentifiable slop.  Some days though, it's worthless.  Like nachos.  Literally, cheese and chips.

In 6-7 grade, I went to an old country school where the Elementary/Middle/High schools were all one BIG school. The food there was fresh and yummy every day.

Once we moved to DFW - the JR high and HS food wasn't the "best" health wise but it was yummy! lol
Chicken basket w/fries and gravy....the biscuit and gravy for breakfast in the morning....YUM.
In HS, you had a "chicken" line which had chicken nuggets/fries/gravy, or spicy chicken bites/fries/gravy...
you had a "Mexican" line which had these taquito type deals with beans and rice SO GOOD...
you had a "sandwich" line - for subs/chips etc.
then you had an "Italian" line for pizza, mozzarella sticks and something else I can't remember....
then you had a "random" food line - for like I guess the daily special lol

Been out of HS almost 10 years and I still remember all that...sad LOL

They are.  The things they count for food now.  My friend who works in the school system said a popcycle counts as a serving of fruit.

I remember always being hungry after school but Andrew is starving.  But he's growing too.  I can give him a snack after school and he's still ready for dinner 2 hrs later.

In local news, people sure were uptight last night at work.  The boss said the 17th might be our last day before the big, loooooong christmas vacation instead of working through the 21st.  That means a lot less money, which has a lot of people concerned.  So yeah, there were very few people in anything close to a good mood last night.

Maybe they'll be happier tonight.  Maybe they will have adjusted to it and accepted it.  Yeah.

Maybe I should bring a chocolate pudding cake as a mood adjuster.

The extra vacation time IS my worry.  I ran the numbers and I'll have enough money - not a lot, but enough - but all that time with nothing to do...

Oh well, I thought that about Thanksgiving week off and I wound up busy.  Maybe it'll happen again.  But I don't think it will - nobody ever does anything the two weeks after Christmas.

We have a library, but it ain't all that good.  Small town library doesn't have the budget for a large selection.  And I don't have a wife.

There's always music - I still have a lot of records and cassettes to transcribe, not to mention this soundtrack for "Lovely noise."

If'n I were not a government employee, and didn't hang around here so much, drink would not be a battle for me.  :laughhard: And for the record, I have always went way overboard with every habit/hobby I have. Moderation is NOT one of my virtues. If I was gonna drink, I'd be like Otis from the Andy Griffith show.... :laughhard:

We have a library, but it ain't all that good.  Small town library doesn't have the budget for a large selection.  And I don't have a wife.

There's always music - I still have a lot of records and cassettes to transcribe, not to mention this soundtrack for "Lovely noise."

does your library offer an exchange [I think that's what our library calls it]? if Bristol doesn't have the book they can search a couple different branches in the area and have it sent here so you could check it out. really handy. especially with 3 local colleges libraries also available.

speaking of reading I'm rereading The Refiners Fire [I think it's called that] series by Lynn Austin. I have finally found them all so I can reread them whenever. YAY!!!

The chocolate pudding cake I took to work was different from the last one I made, and the next one will be another kind of different.  But if I had people over here to eat up the trials it would go a lot faster.  I can only eat so much without becoming a diabetic really fast.

Bah Humbug! They need to just flip the switch, turn the lights on and lock the building. But, no, we've got to make a big deal outta it. Morons.

I'm so tired.

I have so much on my mind right now, but really don't know how to express myself.

Went to the flea market today with dad. First time he's been since his amputation. He was so happy. Zooming around in his chair. I was ready to leave a long time before he was. It was a beautiful day and he was happy, so I kept my mouth closed and didn't tell him how bad I was hurting. Now I'm paying dearly for that. But I can't tell him. He would feel bad, and after a happy day like today, I can't do that.

I did find something for Melodya at the flea market. I took a pic. I need to upload it to PB.

But people who smoke can't really tell.  They don't even notice it.

My cousin was a smoker, but she had quit.  Two weeks after she quit she was going to Wal-Mart with Grandma for something, and they passed someone who smelled of cigarette smoke.  She whispered to Grandma, "They stink!"

I didn't say "So did you a while ago" but I was a-thinkin' it.

Brandon and his dad are both smokers. As we've been cleaning they've realized how stained and nasty the house is due to their smoking. They've both said they were either going to quit and then backed up to say only smoke outside and then they both just kept on puffin away. Thankfully I imposed a no smoking in the bedroom or bathroom rule.

I HATE THIS DOG!!!

I get up and go to the bathroom in the dark. Not fully awake, planning on laying back down for about 30 mins before I HAVE to get up, and I walk right into a pile of poo.

Really?!

So I woke mom up. Told her that her dumb dog pooped in the bathroom and I stepped in it (in my bare feet, no socks) and she said "I cleaned all that up! There isn't any poop in there!" we'll then what did I step in? And there is more in front of the sink that I mananaged not to step in. But she swears there isn't any.

I washed my foot with her washcloth, and came to my room. Now I need to go back in there and get my shower and get ready. I hope she got up and cleaned up the mess cause otherwise there is gonna be more arguments this morning.

What a great start to my already hard morning. :smirk2:

*deep breath*

God is still good. I am still blessed. Even with poop on my foot. *sigh*

I hear ya...we had to actually run our air conditioner the past couple nights.  Supposed to be 77 here for a high.  Next week, it will probably be -55 and woolly mammoths will be migrating.

Suppose to get up to 57 here in Wisconsin. I want snow. I remember the FIRST time we didn't get snow in December were I am from, and that was when I was a senoir in high school back in 1997. I remember a lot of snow back in the 80s. I want that back.

Thanks, I think?

Anyway...thanks for the prayers. He thinks it went well; however, we still have to get through the hardest part next.

I don't really say EXACTLY what's going on because it's hard to explain and enough people judge :)

Well, we have a small fiberoptic tree. It's pretty. :) But, every year, we keep getting new ornaments from people or the kids and room is running out. Would like to get a real tree, but afraid of fires.

Ruby-Due to increased drama causing by my ex I have chosen to leave that church. Also something has shifted there. I'm not sure what but no one prays with people anymore (unless its the pastor's daughter who comes forward). There's a contentment I'm not thrilled with. It's odd. Idk if I'm explaining it right.

Work today. It's too warm for December. If it doesn't get cold soon we're gonna have MAJOR flea issues again. Sigh.

Fire?  Do you have lights from the 1960s or something?  Nowadays everything is made anti flamable. We've been getting a real tree for 7? Yrs now, never an issue.  The tree is still so green.

Okay, you bunch of hooligans, I can actually sit and share a bit now.

The weekend was fantastic.  While it meant Nathan missing the last night of class w/ L.Stoneking and his Sunday's sermon, it was worth it.  We went to our friends' pastor's church in the am and then to their church for their afternoon service. Both were good.  I'm so excited for our friends.  You can feel revival stirring even with their handful of people.  They have such a passion for souls, it's inspiring. God moved, there was tongues/interpretation.  Seems a rare service that ever goes by where the gifts aren't in operation anymore these days.  I remember when it was such a isolated thing.

ack, landlord is here to fix the water heater that was out when we got back.  Perks of renting, for Nathan.

ROFL no lights from the 60s. I'm not sure why I think the tree will catch on fire other that the fact if we let it thirst. I'm paranoid. Would rather have a real tree like you; the smell is awesome.

Roscoe, we need snow. This is a major drought situation here.

27 was a good year after a few bumps in the road.

Well, at least enjoying the day. It smells like spring out there! WOW.

Yep Jenn, just turned 33.  I'm loving my 30's thus far.  So much more fun than any other decade yet.  I told Nathan even Jesus got perfume when He was 33.  He reminded me that He died shortly thereafter.  LOL  hmph.  Sometimes that boy is too witty for me to keep up with.

Last year after the Great Chocolate Gravy War of '11 I received my first ever (white flag surrender) peace-offering packet of choc. gravy mix.   So with keeping with tradition... and yes Seth, we are glad you made it through.  Through the long hard trials and tribulations of sickness, through the valley of the shadow of death, we thank the Lord this day that you persevered and are still with us, though there may be dreary days behind and yet still ahead, you mustered enough tenacity to survive along life's dim lit paths of uncertainty,  we hold dear the presence of our beloved friend, who leaves us an example of determination to keep on keepin' on, enduring the struggles of ailing and aging physical indispositions that wreak havoc with infirmities, we are ever grateful to the healer and giver of eupepsia, who by His grace has kept your continance impregnable, and though we oft take for granted your inestimable alembication, we fail not to hallow the laurels our sovereign Lord has thus dispensed.  Amen.

For anyone who may not have seen it on FB....

Latest craziness from the Ringo house...
Jason: (sighing dramatically) Alas! It's the last day of freedom. School in the morning. (Another dramatic sigh)
Me: (pretending to be sympathetic) I know. If only you didn't have such a mean teacher this year...
Jason: Well, it's just that it's HORRIBLE to have to be LOCKED UP inside when you'd rather...
(Gets cut off by Chris roaring with laughter, and me squawking "Whatever!! What!! Ever!!")
Jason: (sounding sheepish) Well, I didn't mean I'd be outside. I meant I'd rather be reading. Or playing Legos. Or something.

This from my son who nearly has to be forced to play outside. Sorry, but trying to use the logic of "locked up inside" just won't cut it.

Another death.

Everybody stay away from Mel-Mel if you want to live....

I went to work.  Some things were rather harrowing.  But I survived.  Got groceries after.  Came home, shut up the fowl and such, showered.  I'm eating a salad.

Hang in there, it'll start improving in a few weeks.

I try not to make eye contact with or walk to close to or acknowledge the SA bell ringers unless I have to.  They intimidate me.  I can't give money to everything in the world.  :P

Work was bleh. Slow though so that was good. Starting really super crummy again near the end of the day. I feel like something is swelling up in my throat area. Got my headache back. Told Brandon he may be taking me to the doctor tomorrow.

Went after work and bought both of us new shoes. Merry Christmas to us!! He hadn't had new, good work shoes in over a year. His older ones burst at the seams [literally] and he bought some cheap-o shoes at Walmart a few months ago.

Emotions are crazy for me lately. The least little thing starts me up again. But it's ok. That's how He created us. It's part of the grief and healing process.

Some of them I'm making. The biggest project is a quilt I'm trying to get finished for Jason. He loves the fleece hat I made him last year, and he tends to run cold. So I'm making a quilt out of upcycled t-shirt knit (greens and browns) and backing it with green fleece. I'm figuring he can curl up with his book(s) and his fuzzy blanket and stay warmer. :) Sean... he's tougher to please. I'm thinking I may take an old (beloved) t-shirt that he outgrew and make him a throw pillow for his bed. He'd asked me to do that earlier this year, but then I got busy with orders and it somehow didn't happen yet. So I may try to do that after the quilt gets finished.

A knitted bassinet?? Was it kind of like a Moses' Basket?

I went to a middle school concert tonight that some of my Youth group kids were performing in, and I know I've watched too much NCIS and Criminal Minds when Im in a crowded public place and my mind wonders who all in the room is a murderer. Seriously, I was watching people and trying to figure out things about them. If they were acting sneaky or whatever. Trying to profile everyone in the room. There were over 500 people there. Yeah. I need a life.

On the way home, the truck randomly just died. I had to quickly turn the key off and restart. When I looked at the trip odometer, it was at 66.6

:o Kinda freaky.

LOL   I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I wonder if that makes us more discerning or paranoid?

I have the urge to go clean the multicultural-missions storage stuff at the church but it's not always the easiest for Hannah to study at the church.  She's good for a while and then gets spacey cause it's so quiet and peaceful.  Perhaps I'll do it tonight with Nathan.

We're singing Christmas Medley

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZ-AgAeVPGw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZ-AgAeVPGw)

and "I worship the One" by Eddie James.  Which I can't find a decent youtube of... LOL

Anyway, what songs are you all singing for your Christmas service(s)?

*Leaves Hugs for all the GP gals*

I had bought a Marie Callenders breakfast anytime casserole thing last week. It had potatoes an sausage, cheese and eggs in a frozen deal. I made that this morning with toast and coffee and surprised the parents with it.

It was really tasty. For a frozen premade job. Marie callenders is always pretty good quality stuff though.

the "grains" in cereal are stripped, the vitamins they have to put back IN are synthetic/lab made.

But I love me some BooBerry cereal.   :fork:

Marie Calender stuff IS so good, rich and flavorful.  But it's also about the worst premade stuff you can get.  The sodium can kill a person.  Literally.

That's what makes it so hard to be healthy sometimes.  They made the bad stuff taste so very good and label it with decieving stuff.  Most the time I try to really be healthy, but some days I just throw my hands up and eat unhealthy stuff.  Pizza is a big weakness of mine.  I could make it healthy and homemade but really, good grief, I cannot always make EVERYTHING homemade just cause I'm a SAHM.  Some days I do feel like that's all I do is premake/cook/clean up from cooking.  Wears a gal out.

So I'm trying a new thing.  I read several places that you can restore the fluffiness of your towels by washing in HOT water with white vinegar and then in HOT water again with baking soda.  So I'm trying it.  My towels have felt a bit rough lately.  I didn't even realize it until I had to buy a few and they were amazingly soft.  lol
