Sorry Mel. I felt that way when we ran a church campground for 3 years. We lived in a cabin during the summer months. There was no stove. I had a microwave and a grill. I learned to grill.
Though Hannah is recovering from the poison ivy, she got it so terribly that she still looks pretty rough. The itchiness is gone for the most part and it's been almost a week. I think that is doing well. However, I may keep her home tomorrow. She does look like a burn victim still. I believe most, if not all has shown itself. Which reveals she thoroughly "washed" with the poison ivy on her arms and face. She also is sounding like she is getting a cold, which is rare. I wonder if the poison ivy has made her a little weaker? Idk how or if it even affects the immune system.
I have a rant though it's not nearly as rough as others. I was cleaning the church today and just about when I was finished, a baby shower was gearing up. A family comes into the narthex, little one carrying a 1 liter of pop, drops it and it explodes. I wasn't right there but Andrew was and someone asked him if he'd clean it up. Of course he did. At first he came to tell me about it and I told him to show them where the mop was. When he returned, he had mopped it up. I told him to go rinse the mop and go over it one more time quickly and then we would head out. Now, mind you, when people have baby or wedding showers or whatever at the church, they are responsible for cleaning up after themselves. This is understood. But this happened RIGHT in the entry way doors. I went back later to make sure everything was presentable for Sunday and low and behold, there is sticky pop sprayed all over the glass doors. Now, I'm trying to wrap my head around a parent not cleaning up after their child, the person heading up the event not making sure things were cleaned back up since the cleaners had already been there and done, and how everyone exited out of those doors and it still not get addressed. I know I'm a cleaning lady. But good grief, I don't go and let my kids dump out the salt and pepper shakers at the restaurant simply because the bus boy gets paid to clean the tables, or leave new clothes all over the floors in the dressing rooms simply because it's someone's job to keep it tidy! And it may have nothing to do with taking advantage of the cleaning people but even the idea that it's ok to not clean up after your child. I don't understand that at all.
Ok. I'm done. I'm not even moody, just still kind of shocked.
Most people that have never helped clean a church or business have NO clue. They don't even think about it.
Before I ever cleaned a church, I still cleaned up after my child if they made some sort of a mess. Other's homes, stores, even outside if applicable. And from the GET GO my kids have been expected to help clean up anything they've contributed to. Even as toddlers, they were to help clean up toys when playing at someone's house before we left. How can they not think about their child making a mess and leaving it? I seriously cannot comprehend it. I would think they would have to purposely ignore it.
For a different perspective, drive the church bus for a while. Some parents honestly don't notice. Some of the kids I pick up on the church bus live in houses with cockroaches EVERYWHERE, filthy carpets and walls, and the parents don't seem to be bothered by it.
Odd you should mention this tonight... I just got back home from two hours of vacuuming the church. It didn't take two hours because it was a big mess, it's just a big church.
That brings up a good reminder. I'm only frustrated when my expectations aren't met. I quite possibly have too high of expectations at times and not enough grace. These people are leadership people. Clean, put together, pleasant. I think I fall into a rut of having more fruit of the Spirit for visitors, new converts, very poor, and children than with saints that have been around awhile.
I understand Isaac. It takes me at least 3hrs. 4 hallways and the sanctuary. The sanctuary aisles and platform aren't bad, but we have theater seats and vacuuming each row is tedious. Our sanctuary only seats 700 but boy it's hard to get around the legs of each chair. Really, it's only rough when there is something that has to be really cleaned, like gum/tar in the carpet, or since our sanctuary runs slightly downhill, when someone spills something, it runs down about 10 rows.
It is what it is. I'm thankful for the job.
We do have an industrial vac' for some of it! I love that thing. lol

Yes! Come up in choir practice and had her in a bag tucked under her arm! I jokingly said "Whats in there? A puppy?" and she said "YES! Shhhh!" and I was like :o
Then we tried to hide her in the apartment, but Furby was going nuts, so we took her to our SS class and during church Kimber hid her in the broom closet in the kitchen. Lol so no one could hear her cry or yip. Then she took her home. It was quite the scandal, but she couldn't leave her in the car! Only a few people know about our puppy experience today, so don't tell! ;)
I hope the poor dog bit whomever put that sweater on him. It's like a tin can on the tail of a dog's self respect. :demand:
Haha. It was actually a hoodie made from a sock! It was cute, but kinda tight.
My sister and her boyfriend decided to buy a puppy. Only to discover that she is allergic!
So the puppy ended up staying in my room with me all night, then when I was about to leave for church my sister was begging me to help out because she would not be home all day, I could not just leave the poor thing...
So here I am not sure what to do, and then this brilliant idea strikes, "Let's just take her with us!".
I put it in one of my empty purses, she slept all the way, but practice woke her so she started trying to play, I had to take her outside for thirty minutes. I was so glad that it was cool in the car!
Then I became a ninja and took her to Sunday School and she continued to sleep, so I did not even disrupt the class.
The only problem was the main service! I was faced with a very hard decision, so I put her in a tote and locked the broom closet with a key and then hid the key so no one would mess with her... She was sleeping when I went to get her! She did so good..
I've had her all day, when my sister finally gets home tonight I hope she comes up with a plan, because I have work in the morning and I can't really afford to purchase a dog right now.
Oh and the sock/hoodie was my sisters doings... The dog was cold and so my sister apparently thinks she is Martha Stewart and can make anything.... In my opinion she butchered a perfectly good sock!

They told my sister the dogs eight weeks but I don't think that is right.
I got it to use the paper and outside... It only took me almost 48 hours to get her trained, she's pretty mild puppy, the only time she messed up was when my little brother scared her.

You'd be surprised how many problems can be traced back to a failing hard drive. Had one computer that refused to change the desktop background or screensaver, because apparently the code to do that was on the spot on the hard drive that had just gone bad. :-\
One of my friends from church just brought us some fruit and veggies she had left from a party she hosted this weekend. I'm eating the fruit for breakfast instead of the grits.
Oh my word. I tire so of people taking simple Biblical things out of context. Like since we can eat shellfish which was an abomination in the OT than homosexuality is now ok too. That one is easy for me to answer when people honesty want one.
The polygamy one is a little harder though. I read a refutal to God establishing one man and one woman as the definition of marriage that in the OT 1man+1woman, 1man+multiple wives, 1man+ wives & concubines, 1man+ rape victim, 1man+ female POWs, leaves room for arguement that God didn't limit marriage to 1man+1woman then and thus not now. I don't know what to say to that one. Showing that the Bible is both a doctrinal book and a historical book and that some things are just historical reference, not God's will/approval seems to be awfully shaking grey ground.
We are commanded to obey those in authority and to live, as much as we can, peaceably. If the person debating this with you is in the United States of America, the law of this land is monogamy, not polygamy.
Also the current population of the earth would logically argue against the viability of multiple wives and concubines.
Also why would anyone want more than one wife? Who would want multiple mother-in-laws? :o

Completely wrong of course. But these are days and times when common sense does not prevail. I find that everyday parables are no longer always understood in order to build off of like Jesus did. It's very.. Idk the word. I think that is the point in which Jesus called out the sin/devil and revealed the hinderance to truth but how often is that really profitable? We need more anointing than ever before. I need it! I believe that Jesus did miracles, signs and wonders to demonstrate who had the real power and the personality behind it, God=Love; because discussions were too hard for the people to discern so often. They had already been talked out of so much truth by the pharisees and their own carnality.

When someone wants to do something he will find ways to justify it. Sometimes you have to know when to cut your losses and end the argument as a waste of time.
I agree with WC, I have an aunt who will give you a run for your money trying to justify things, she simply loves to argue.
I've seen all too many times when people will twist scripture or take what you say out of context, when people are in sin they hear what they want to hear, sometimes all I know to do is pray God will open their eyes to truth.

Of course Isaac but there are some that aren't just arguing. I think we all walk away sometimes. That's beside the point of actually having an answer. If I'm not careful, that can be a copout to not finding the answer. I've seen other's & I've walked away simply bc I didn't really have an answer but knew I was right. Sometimes not having an answer for something we're emphatically claiming is a let down to the questioner & reinforcement of what other stuff they've heard.

Well two months have passed and I still have a severely sprained ankle from when I hurt it on the job. The doctor said I have little to no degree of movement in that foot or ankle (translation it is extremely stiff). So he tells me to go home soak it in hot water for 5 minutes then ice cold water for five minutes and come back in a month. Sometimes I really don't get why we pay doctors. lol

Its been one of those days here. Very well off lady passed away. Everyone with some hint of money or anyone who was somebody was at the funeral. Several flew in here, including a former governor. Needless to say, I am glad the day is nearly over.

Ok, it's not completely my fault - but mostly. I tried to clear everything up but not sure it worked.
It's just a very discouraging day. I'm trying to stay hopeful but I haven't even heard from him today so it's making me worry more.
Sad day here. A family that used to go to church here lost their toddler boy last night. The dad accidently backed over him and he died. They came out of a violent drug life and before they really dug in very deep, they backslid. I am beside myself with how devastated they must feel. I cannot wrap my mind around it. The dad said, "When we dedicated him, Pastor said he was going to be a leader. Looks like he's going to lead us back to God."
It is so tragic. The questions they must be asking themselves. I'm left with the truth that there is no such thing as a successful backslider. Things never work out for them in the end, and usually all in between as well. Yet, saints can have all kinds of awful things happen, even the very same things, and still go on, still find peace, joy, and fulfillment. Some days it seems so simple it's heartbreaking.
K-it's no ones responsibility to clean up after/for someone. Sometimes we have to 'man up' to things in our past and pray God to take care and provide for us. I encouraged my bf as much as I could to go back to school but he had to take care of something's and honestly God provided in quite a few situations to make a way

Thanks. I just have some regrets about how I handled certain situations. I'm just having one of those "woe is me" days and I'm feeling a little depressed.
It doesn't help when he doesn't answer his phone all day either. It could either be good or bad. I just wanna go home.
It's amazing how one phone call can make me feel at least a little better.
He really is a great guy.
Taking a test tomorrow so that I can put a few letters behind my name. After this test I'll still probably have around 10 more to take but I'm still making progress.

I have wondered and thought it was SO cruel that women had to go live outside the camp for days at a time each month, after Israel left Egypt. Well, I take that back. She said in the military it's called "flight or fight" and that it's a good thing. So I'm not a heartless person. I've been praying for them all day.
I talked to the sister in law who told me it was thoroughly an accident. The dad checked for the son before he got in the vehicle. Nothing. So he got in and backed out. Realized he ran over something. The mama came out to the horrific scene. Only his head got ran over. She was trying to put his stuff back in his head. He had no pain. It was instant. He was two. He has at least 2 heart valves and corneas going to other babies on waiting lists.
Please pray for their sanity. The dad is just... I don't know an intense enough word for how he is feeling. Only Jesus can reach down and take care of that deep of pain.
Jesus is teaching me a lesson. 1 I already knew but apparently needed a reminder on. I hadn't had a hallbladder attack in around 6 months. But I have put all the wrong things which I knew were wrong into my body. Ugh.

That is probably hands down one of my biggest fears. Is either A. having something tragic happen to one of my baby loves (nephews/nieces) when I baby sit them...or B. having something tragic happen to one of my own children should I be blessed with them some day.

Feeling better today. We had a nice chat last night. He always reassures me. Poor thing.

I have unlimited "data" which means texts mostly lol...if I use my internet/pandora/apps that require data usage too much during the month it'll tell me I've reached a certain amount of data usage....and it will not stop....but "slow down"....and boy does it!! lol :roll:

Went to work, came home. Stuff.
I hate CVS.... Had to take credits to some CVS stores...first of all, as I suspected, they didn't have the form to fill out in any of them (which that's not directly a CVS store issue, cause it's card company paperwork, but the set up on that is goofy), I stopped at one first and had nothing so I went on and stopped in one of my other stores and snatched a few forms from it....
One CVS knew what they were doing. The next one new jack squat. The manager was worthless, said he didn't have time to mess with it and sent me to the cashier, and the cashier didn't know how to do it and had to get the manager and he didn't know and then the cashier finally figured it out. Then at the end of the day, back to the first one I stopped at, and the manager there didn't know how to do it, and said she'd give it to so and so and she was in a hurry, but she had time to get phone numbers to call the card company because they are not doing what they want them to...I'm not sure exactly what they're wanting, maybe to credit out a bunch of crud they have in the back, but I'm not sure.... But apparently they've been trying to call the He Boss and not liking not getting what they're wanting.... Who knows.... One more to take stuff back to still...we'll see if they know squat or not.
There was also a lovely Wal-Mart venture in there too, and they also don't know jack pooty, as usual. And then a new manager in there, who was nice about it, but told me not to use a shopping cart for my stuff in there, as those are for the customers. Lord....they have about 75,000 carts, I don't think me using one for 25 minutes, give or take, is going to hinder anyone from shopping...but, oh well....
I'm sure getting a cart apparatus from the backroom will be a real treat and will require the approval of 45 different people each time, if they can find one available. :roll:

My mom works for CVS. In this district the individual stores have to do their own cards. At one point my mom was doing a few of the stores cards for them.
I missed my bed. My lumpy, squeaky, hand me down bed. Very few times have I ever ventured anywhere that I slept comfortably.
Anyway since I've been back I've dropped Brandon off at home, cleaned out dads car and hauled my stuff inside, picked up moms dog, unpacked luggage and started laundry, cleaned up the cat litter party (my aunt would come by and feed the cats and scoop, but she apparently can't sweep and use a dustpan), fixed dinner, got ready for church, went to church, went to the grocery store, and am now doing more laundry.
Dreading working tomorrow but at least it's only 2 days til the weekend!!
I'm kinda aggravated right now at someone. Someone who is supposed to be one of my closest friends, but when I asked if she could come to the house and help me when it gets time to help, she blatenly said "No, I won't." then someone else came up and I was unable to ask if I heard her right, and why, and then prayer started, and needless to say, I got very little out of it cause I was so shocked at her response. Then after prayer, I purposefully placed myself near the trash can, so I could talk to her, and she glanced in my direction, saw me there, gathered her snotty Kleenex and BOLTED and I mean BOLTED for the door. She NEVER leaves that fast, and never without throwing her Kleenex in the trash.
So I'm upset to say the least.
It's nice to know that someone I love so much and count as one of my dearest friends would care so much about me.

Oh, and they finally got the wifi working in the church, an apparently, I had the wrong pass code as it was changed recently, and now that I have the correct one, my phone AND my laptop now have wifi compliments of the church. So I don't need my Internet on my phone. At least not when I am here at "home".

I was about to say - all of my CVS stores (and I have 20 lol) have to do their own cards. They all have a "cvs employee" who comes in and does it.

As far as I know, all CVS's do their own cards, somehow.... I don't know if there are any that are otherwise serviced or not. American Greetings people only do certain special things in CVS stores, such as these credits that they don't know how to handle.

They are not good...that's the thing. The furniture sat in floodwater for a few days. It's warped, and nasty. Even the stuff that "could" be cleaned we have to throw away. Especially the cloth items, dads stump is still not closed all the way, and ANY risk of infection from contaminated furniture has to be eliminated. Therefore, we burn it all.

Jeremy and I.. teach Sunday School, drive the church van to pick the kids up, and tonight we're all beginning a new arm of outreach. I don't think we've been lazy much since I've moved up here. I'm ready for a vacation tho!! :) From work and everything, haha. I love my job tho. I'm Accounts Payable at Brown Electric, Inc. We are electrical contractors (commercial, non-residential). :) The owners are Pentecostal, and happen to be the sister (and brother-in-law) to my (read: Jeremy's) grandma's brother's wife. :) haha.. KIN!
We had a little courtroom victory on Wednesday. Jeremy had been served a lovely lawsuit letter in March or April (after the wedding obviously). He was being sued by a finance company that had repossessed his ex-wife's car, sold it, and now suing for the remaining balance owed. His ex-wife had not been served any papers on the lawsuit, just Jeremy. Needless to say.. We've been stressing since then about HOW to pay it if we were ordered to pay. We've had continuance after continuance, but FINALLY it went to bench trial on Wednesday. The finance company's lawyer didn't show up, so the case was dismissed without prejudice. They have 30 days to appeal that decision and 90 days to refile (with fees). It looks EXCELLENT on us that they didn't show up.. because I mean, c'mon.. what judge wants you to waste their time? None. :) I'm believing that God fulfilled a miracle on Wednesday in answer to many desperate prayers. So thankful! :) Praying this company will MOVE ON from us forever.
Anyway. That's your little update folks! :)

Took a 2.5 hr lunch yesterday because her tooth hurt. Then started texting me at 3 am asking if I'd please open for her because she had a terrible headache. It's ALWAYS something with her. Before I went on vacation it was her wrist and her foot. GAH!!! * Wash my mouth out with soap * it up and deal with it people. Where is a work ethic anymore?!?!?! The kicker is she's a 40something year old women. She can't even blame it on being young and lazy!!

And morning, all. I got up, made sourdough french toast with the last of my sourdough- thanks, Isaac, it was tasty- and went to church and mowed the churchyard. I'd been having problems with my mower, and hadn't got to mow it this month. I felt sure someone would step up and mow.
Wrong. Lord, I needed a crew of illegal immigrants and a bushhog.....I got it mowed down to a respectable level, but weedeating will have to wait. :smirk2: In keeping with my life's requirements that something must break or go wrong with everything I touch, the weedeater, a nice newer one, refused to start. Bah. :pound:
Anyhoo....Lou and I have friends coming over for dinner, so I'm gonna make Parmasian Chicken and a nice salad....not sure on dessert yet. Otherwise, I may tinker with the 'vette a bit. Still cold and somewhat cloudy today. Supposed to get up to the 70's later.
My wonderful husband is not a mechanic. Therefore we have been the weirdo people with a non-running truck parked in the drive way for almost a year now. We had paid it off, then the transmission went out. Nathan's family got a rebuilt one for $5oo and it didn't work. So they tried to get a refund.. no deal. So we owe that much on a broken down... I'll end that sentence there. Praise God someone came along and imparted wisdom to us to SELL for whatever and move on. I can understand when you're a mechanic having an extra vehicle you're working on. But not a number of them and certainly not when you can't work on it. We kept thinking that at some point he would be able to fix his truck and use it. Which would be great if we could afford for him to pay off the $500 and have yet more money to repair it. It's not happening. I'm so thankful for grace. Why does American culture blur Biblical principles that should be easy to grasp?
Lesson of the day: We have to take care to be stewardly now and God will take care of tomorrow. To plan for tomorrow while neglecting today is the same concept people use for not paying their tithes. God may help us not go completely under but we cannot prosper.

Made one last week. :-\ We've a friend who I mentioned here before, with whom we have been close. They are Church of Christ. We used to have dinner at each others house every week, but had stopped when he went through some really bad times. Starting last week, we've started again. Yes, sourdough french toast is one of the best ways of using that bread. Especially with some dark amber maple syrup and a little butter.

And it is true, you never outgrow being lazy. So far today I have done nothing but putter around. I got all those records sorted out and a stack of the ones I want to transcribe to computer, but haven't got any recorded off yet.

I am so totally serious. Apparently while he was out on his little excursion yesterday, he bit a lady, who in turn called animal control. They came and got him, and he growled at the officer. So the took him to the animal shelter. When mom was calling around to the shelters today, she found him, they brought him by so she could ID him, and they said he has to be quarantined for 10 days in the shelter to make sure he doesn't have any diseases, and that the lady's hand heals without complications. They called it doggie jail. Lol and mom has to pay a fine for him biting the lady, and the boarding fee for them keeping him for the next 10 days.

10 day quarantine is normal for a dog that bites. we house the bristol va animal control dogs at the vets office i work out. mel if you want i can sneek down something that'll take care of that dog for good. just sayin......... :cool:

Yeah, she just started getting it in Jan. it's only cause DAD has worked all his life...she can't draw it by herself. They denied her. She hasn't worked enough in her life. We figured it up, _I_ have worked more years and paid into Social Security more than she has! So as long as she is married to him, she gets a (small) check.
I was trying to figure out how that was possible. Sorry if that sounds mean.

I got yelled at in the Walmart parking lot today by a random stranger.
Dad and I were driving around and FINALLY got a handicap spot. So as my custom, I parked, and was headed into the store to find one of the motorized scooters to bring out to him. So I get out, and I'm headed in, and this woman pulls up beside me in an suv, and flings her door open. She says "MA'AM! MA'AM!" and I turn and face her, she points at me and at our truck and proceeds to yell at me. She says "YOU PARKED YOUR TRUCK IN THAT HANDICAP SPOT AND I NEED IT!!!" I replied, "Yes ma'am I did, my dad is in the truck and he only has one leg and I'm headed inside the store to get him a motorized cart..." she stumbled over her words then, but still yelled at me..."WELL, YOU....YOU DON'T HAVE A HANDICAP SYMBOL ON YOUR TAG!!" I replied, "No we don't, we have one for the rear view mirror, which as you see, my dad just hung up there..." then she slammed her door and peeled away.
I. Was. Mad.
I went into the store, got his cart, and came back out to get him. I never saw that woman actually IN the store. Dad said if I saw her, he would wave his stump at her.
Lord. She totally messed me up for the entire time we were in WM. I couldn't even think straight. :smirk2: I guess she thought since I was a "larger" person, that automatically I was taking advantage of a closer parking spot. I have no obvious handicaps that she could see, but she judged me without knowing.
And for the record...I only use that handicap placard when I have one or both of my parents in the car. I don't take advantage of it, even if I am hurting or something. But people shouldn't judge.
I'm still kinda reeling over that confrontation.
Not sure anyone noticed there were 3 bomb threats today in major cities. 1 was our federal building, I guess. Also a shooting @the Royal's stadium.

Someone stole one of our church van!! We have 2. One that is white with our logo and info coving both sides and a generic black van with only a license tag on the front with our name on it. So of course they stole the white one that has our name blazen down both sides. It just seems like bad juju to steal a church van......

On another note. Yesterday's service was videotaped. It gets me everytime how I'm certain I worshipped 100% more demonstratively than I really did. And it's one of the things about being on the platform, that I must actually sing... lol When I don't praise sing, I jump/dance more. Hannah says, "Mom, you need to smile more." Also. I think I mentioned the visitation of the family that lost their little boy last week was on Friday and how heavy it was. The Dad took off at one point. He is struggling a lot. He basically feels like a murderer.
The funeral was on Saturday. It was a beautiful funeral in what the 3 speakers had to say. God was surely there.
This family had been in our cell group some years ago. So had another gal at the same time that walked away from God for a bit. I contacted her about the family/funeral and she came. That night, at like 2am, she texted me and said she was tired of running, that it was time for her to come back to God. She had been crying and praying and listening to church music for the first time in a long time. I called her first thing in the morning to make sure she was awake. :hypocrite: She came yesterday, prayed through and things are looking upward. I've talked to her today already. God restores hope in just a moment of time. It's amazing to me. There's no chasing backsliders. I don't play the games with them and their festering bitterness. But when they are finally genuine, all that love, prayers and affection stored up for them while they weren't receptive, is readily poured out.
With albums that have two records, why are side 1 and 4 on one record, and side 2 and 3 are on the other? Is it something to do with the way original record changers worked?

Isaac, Robert, Jason and Elona, Seth and anyione else I missed while skimming posts that like southern Gospel, I have a fair-sized batch of cd's, mostly multi-artist compilation discs sent out by labels to get their artists some air time, that I can distribjute around. At least a small minority are one or two artists.
The first two I grabbed for writing this is a CD from Nat Stuickey and Connie Smith, 'God Will' and some group called '68 Session' just for examples.
If y'all will PM me a mailing address, I'll send several out to each of you. And I'll keep the addresses, and send the occasional extra I get out, as our general manager told me he can keep them for me.

Newsman, I don't listen to enough music to mess with it really....it's once in a bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeee moon I ever listen to a CD at home, almost never, and almost never in the car.... On rare occasions if I'm at church cleaning or working I will put CDs on and play them there, that's about my extent. Just divvy them up amongst the rest of the elect that are not reprobate dislikers of SG.

Oh, I shopped for shoes this evening, but didn't find anything...I hate shopping for shoes, but I have to get some, mine are tore up....

I hate shopping for shoes, too. It's hard to find anything that fits and it seems that if they fit they are ugly.
On another note, I went to WalMart tonight to get some milk and the system was down that takes debit cards, had to use it as credit. The girl said they were down all over the world. I thought she meant all debit card systems but when we asked someone else they said it was just all the WalMarts.
My mom went out one Saturday to buy shoes and came home with a dog.

You sound like me. I have four pairs, but that's only because I wanted some stealth (no toes) zero-drop shoes. They look like normal tennis shoes, if you don't notice I'm walking as though I were not wearing shoes. Then the black leather toe shoes I wear to church, and the two pairs of work toe shoes.
Even when I wore "normal" shoes I never had more than three pairs. Usually just two, work shoes and dress shoes.

And in sharing- it is my friday, thanks to a well-timed vacation day. It is also the Fall Swap Meet on Petit Jean- not near as big as the springtime event, but a pleasant and cooler diversion by any measure. I have no intention, of for that matter, means, of buying anything, but I WILL enjoy the ambiance.. :laughhard:

1 pair of black slip on shoes that are for general out in public use, church, work, and everything else....the soles are wore out and split open all the way across the bottom. Only suitable for dry weather or you might as well go barefoot.
1 pair of dress shoes that I seldom wear that the sole is coming off at the heel on.

I have a pair of black flat church shoes. They are new since the storm, cause my other ones that were almost identical to them were lost in the flood.
I have a new pair of Nikes that I got since the storm.
And my old falling apart pair of Nikes that I wear out to the house.
I need a new pair of Yellow Box flip flops cause mine were taken by the flood as well. And then I will have all I need/want.

Went to a funeral viewing. I dislike that sort of thing...but I talked to a man from our church tonight (not associated with the deceased) and found out that he REALLY needs some prayers. He just opened up to Dad and I and spilled his guts to us, just crying and telling us about his troubles. So if you think of it, please say a prayer for Bro Carl. He is such a sweet man. He's 62, and it breaks my heart to hear of all the stuff he is going through right now.

I haven't slept well in 4 nights now. I have allergy junk going on. My knees are not happy with the colder weather. Ugh. But only 1 more workday left then I'm going to dogsit for our youth leader while he takes a group to Hyphen in Atlanta. I wanted to go but it was just too close to vacation.
Pain is not funny. *sigh*
Got out of bed today. Barely. It would have made a great comedy routine if it hadn't hurt SO stinkin' much! :cry2:
Yesterday while at church, practicing on the piano for the evening service, I realized that every time I pressed the sustain pedal that it hurt. It got worse as the practice time wore on, and I actually started pressing the pedal with my left foot. Anyone who plays piano knows that this is awkward, but it's the only way I could figure out how to not have the pain be so severe.
When I got home, I sat in the recliner awhile and napped, and had an awful time getting out of it. At church, I was able to play for song service, but once I got back to the pew, I was just done. As I sat there, I tried to shift in my seat to find a more comfortable position. I shifted ever so slightly.... about a zillion times.... no comfortable spot. So I gave up and headed to the nursery, where there's a glider rocker. I sat in the rocker for the remainder of the sermon. I could hear the sermon, but wasn't in QUITE as much pain as I had been on the pew.
After service, I enlisted the help of a friend to hold my Bible, as I knew once I got up, I wouldn't be able to bend back down for it without screaming. Loudly. And somehow even the lightest things seemed heavy. I had even left my purse in the car (lucky for my husband, or he would have ended up carrying it out).
Anyway, once I knew I had to get up this morning, my brain kept telling my body what to do, but my body knew that it was going to be painful, so I think they argued back and forth for about an hour or more as I lay there. Every movement hurt. Literally. Even moving my neck to turn my head hurt down into my back. It all seemed to radiate from my lower back somehow... I can't quite explain it. It seems to have improved a bit tonight, but I REALLY need prayer, as I'm scheduled to work a one-day temp assignment tomorrow, and it HURTS to sit down.

I finally got about 5 hours of solid sleep last night but woke up with a terrible headache. Got to work this morning and a girl that was scheduled to be off showed up too. She had gotten her schedule mixed up. So she stayed and I left :cool: I'm not at my friends house hanging out with their dog. Plus they have a hammock out back. I have a feeling me and it are gonna be hanging out later.
Odd, I also got a little sleep, then woke up with a bad headache far too early this morning. Mine was a sharp sinus headache, strong enough to make me feel mildly sick.
This too shall pass. But I sure wish it would pass faster.
Must be Headache Friday - I too, woke up with a terrible, terrible headache - almost on the verge of migraine. Ugh.
Just for the record, whatever night you have had, however much or little sleep you got - five farm-fresh eggs, scrambled, in a drawn butter sauce, is an excellent start to the day. :)
Good grief. What's up with not sleeping well and waking up with headaches?? This is not good. Not good at all.
Elona, the whole trying to use the sustain pedal with your left foot thing... UGH. Been there, done that. Hope to not have to do it again. I'm sorry you're hurting! And I hope you're feeling much better very soon! Praying about that.

I didn't have a headache when I woke up, but I had a attitude. Dad comes in the laundry room, flipping on the kitchen light and yelling at me to get up cause he wants to go to breakfast at Jerry lees and talk to some lawyer guy. Well last night when I got home, mom told me that dad wasn't going anywhere today and we could sleep in. But no. That didn't happen. And dad doesn't believe in waking people up gently. It's always get up NOW. We need to leave in five minutes! UGH. I can't stand that. I have told him over and over I need at the bare minimum 30 mins from bed to door. But if he wants me civil, an hour is what I need.
Anyway. We left and have been going all day. I hacked up a lung this morning and could not breathe. My chest felt like it was gonna explode. I finally got over that. But good grief, it was awful.
We just got back to the church, and I'm gonna get the coolers cleaned out, and the fridge re organized, so I can go to the store and get some meat and stuff to make dinner later.
I tarred.
I still feel pootyfied.
Ok. Kitchen is clean, and re organized, and I went to the store. I got what we needed for dinner. I'm done!
Till time to start dinner.
I haven't done anything today but feed and water the fowl.
I got my eyes checked today, the lady only had one arm, reminded me of Mel and her dad.
No, Darlin, Dad has one leg. He has two arms. ;)
Well now that her eyes are checked, she might get that right.

8 hours in an office chair that feels like it is lurching forward. I actually stood up as much as I could, but that hurt, too. Argh. In the recliner now, but every time I need to get up, I end up nearly screaming.
I took dad to dialysis. I suppose I should start a load of laundry now, then lay back down before I have to take mom to get Furby. He gets out of Jail today. :smirk2:

In other news, howdy y'all. All I have on my schedule today is mowing the yard and typing the church bulletin, so I should get a lot of music stuff and/or goofing off done.
It started out as one of THOSE mornings for the teacher and students of The Ringo Circus. *siiiiiiiiigh* However, potato soup is in the crockpot, herb bread is in the bread machine, apricot bars just were pulled out of the oven, and I am now enjoying a cup of ginger peach tea and hoping fervently that the rest of today is better than it began.

I like my dog, but if she ever bit me or anyone else that would be, at worst, the next-to-the-last time. If she kept biting after some sharp corrective discipline, that second time would be THE last time. Fortunately we've never, in all the dogs we have had, experienced that problem.
I have some friends who unfortunately have spoiled their little weiner dog rotten. She will bite anybody on the ankle if not watched closely. Turns her little head sideways and darts in for the snap. How cute.

Man, I have been busy all weekend. I took a vacation day Thursday in honor of the annual fall swap meet. My Uncle Ron came down with my aunt and brought my cousin and his family, who I haven't saw in probably ten years. It was a good time, puctuated by a couple of stops at Bro Papa's BBQ stand. I tried to send pics to Taco and Mini....I don't know if Taco got his pic, but Mini responded rather rudely.. :biglaugh:
And I must say I am pleased. First, I met a man at the swap meet today who is wanting to take a much closer look at Rusty, as he is building a '41 for his wife. His car currently? A '32 Ford sedan with a diesel Isuzu engine. Classic looks, 35 to 45 mpg at 70 with the air on. I drooled. He informed me how easy they are to build. Now I REALLY want one. :biglaugh:
And today was my day....on the way off the mountain, I met with a friend I've not saw in some time- he owns a shop and offered to help me install Rusty's a/c and make the needed hose, at his cost! I was overjoyed.
And to top the perfect day off, I managed to isolate the Corvette's issue and repair it. I am pleased. :great:
Oh good, I'd feel bad if I were the only one having a great weekend.
Over here I got the yard mowed, the bulletin done, and I'm really liking this ThinkPad I got off ebay. 4 gigs ram, duo core processor laptop for less than $250. And I HAVE MY DEDICATED PAGE FORWARD/BACK BUTTONS AGAIN! Ever since my very old ThinkPad bit the dust I have missed that. I should have gotten another ThinkPad long, long ago.

Rough day, but not quite as rough as yesterday. Maybe because I got to sleep a bit longer? Not sure. Still in screaming pain. Was practicing a fast song at church this afternoon and had to use my left foot again for the sus pedal... Grrr. It's really irritating.
Taco is teaching the youth class in the morning, so I get to relax a bit during class. I may drag the glider rocker in from the nursery so I'll be able to find a comfortable spot in order to sit down during the lesson. Hopefully I'll be able to not be too disruptive during the morning worship service.
He ran off and bit someone and was picked up by animal control.
Oh my... Not fun.
And I thought you weren't allowed to have him at the church? Where is he staying? Are you back home?
My Uncle let him stay. We are still at the church. We won't be moving back into that house at all. We dont have a home currently. And very little belongings.
Mel-He could have ended up with kennel cough. If so he'll need treatment.
So I have 2 things to share. I'll go with the bad first. I need to come up with $150 to get the part to fix my car :-\ Even the lady at Hardee's commented on the amazing aroma of gasoline that wafted into her restraunt when I was in drive thru :-\ UGH!! Plus everytime after I drive it I have a headache.
Yesterday after I had picked Brandon up after work he just blurted out that one sunday when he's not working he'd like to go to church with me or even meet me there one wednesday after he gets out of class :o I've never been one of those people who constantly nags people to come to church with me. I've invited them and told them anytime they want to come to let me know. Then I just let it rest. Granted I've been praying ALOT about him coming with me. I just have never told anybody I have been. He has alot of anger and resentment in his heart toward God after his little sister passed away 8-9 years ago. So for him to just out of the blue tell me he wants to go and he wants to get right with God just floored me!!!! He grew up baptist though so pentecostal church may throw him a bit, but I've told him all about how service is, what we believe and so on. I'm just excited he wants to go and I hope he gives it more than 1 shot.

The vet told her one time to give it to him, and now it's her go-to meds for him whenever he coughs or whatever.
