Heather - hurray for sleeping in new homes!!

Roscoe - I hate weddings like that. When it's a couple who has tried to do things right, or even a couple who didn't do things right and then tried to get back on track... those I'll go to. And happy to join the celebration. But when it's people who have lived together for years, and have a house, and have a kid (or kidS)... what is the POINT of having a huge wedding.  Um, other than wanting gifts. I have a hard time celebrating when there isn't anything to celebrate.  :smirk2:

Isaac - Sour dough bread sounds really good right now. Wanna overnight flight some to us? *grin*

Gifts are good.  Maybe that's the only reason they had the wedding.  :D

SippinTea I have learned I can send some of this starter through the mail, if you want to take up making sourdough bread.  It takes a while to make though - mostly waiting for it to rise twice, which is a good 3 hours per rising.  Depends how much free time you have.

Well. I wandered to Bro Papa's and got a pleasant surprise.....Bro Terry Long, who pastors a small church about thirty miles away, and who is a wonderful man of God, was there, so I got to talk with him, my pastor, AND eat a BBQ Frito Pie. 'twas great.
Then I wandered around a bit in rusty and decided it was such a pretty day I would go check on Daddy's grave. It's about thirty miles away, in a family cemetary that dates back to the 1800s, way out in the country. It was great!

Even though I cried a little and realized just how much I miss the old man, who's been gone three years this month....the drive was pleasant and one that he and I had enjoyed together many times. I just rode around little back roads with the windows down and a cold pop, thinking about old times and viewing some of the land that has been in my family for 100 years...I really wish some of it had made its way to me, just for the sentiment of it, but unfortunantly, other family members wound up with it.

I was amazed at how some old memories come flooding back...one look at my great grandmother's grave instantly took me back to four years old, standing in her kitchen while she took the top off of a huge green frog cookie jar that always held a little boy's favorite treats...and the memory of her husband, Pa, telling stories of his dad hiding moonshine in the storm cellar from the sheriff.
And I'm rambling now. Oops.  :laughhard:

Isaac - it would be VERY tempting, but free time is something I don't have much of just now. Maybe in about 20 yrs, when the kids are grown.

Roscoe old bean, you are officially an old timer.  Wandering around reminiscing is something old people do.

Want me to hand you your cane or can you get to it by yourself?  :P

:laughhard: What can I say- I have an old soul.
Even my mama used to tell me that I was born fifty years or so too late. I can't help it....and I have a nicely carved cane that belonged to Daddy, in the storage shed. Maybe I should put it behind Rusty's seat..... :laughhard:

That's OK, Bobby.  I enjoyed your rambling. ;)
Thank you, Ratz Nest.....I like that term for ya better than "Purple Fuzzy". It better demonstrates your tendency to be mean and whale me with your hickory stick.. :hypocrite:

Weirdos.

The whole sorry lot of you.

Went to work.  Came home.  Went to church.  Came home.

Speaking of weddings, Bro. Doug Smith, a young evangelist from Indianapolis got married today in Dayton, OH....

Last night after their wedding rehearsal dinner, his wife-to-be's father suddenly and unexpectedly died.

They went ahead on with the wedding.  That HAD to be a very emotional wedding for sure.  They've been in my thoughts today.

Chseeads

Also speaking of weddings, my parents have been married 61 years today.

Heather

As much as I'd love to have a legit wedding (as my 1st one wasn't anything I wanted), Brandon and I will probably just go to the courthouse. Much less fuss and people gossiping about us living together before.

Lynx

I could gossip about it.  I don't know enough about you to have many facts to work with, but from what I observe a lack of facts has never stopped a true gossip before.   :freaky2:

Nah, just kidding.  Personally I loathe gossips.  But that was fun to say.

Heather...what I love about you is your straightforwardness! You dont pretend to be something you are not, and you are genuinely real.

I really admire that. ;)
Have you slapped that one dude from Indiana with a pie in the face today?

Melody

I wonder what makes people decide to finally get married in those situations?

For us, it was my husband finally turning 18... And we eloped.  Thank goodness for the mercy of God.

Morning, all.  :hi: I'm at work. Bleh.
And a bit of sharing I failed to put out yesterday- I went by my former place of employment and visited with some dispatcher friends I haven't saw in a while. One of them, a very dear older lady, told me to wait while she went to her car, as she had something for me. It was this t-shirt.....

I love it. It is SO true.  :hypocrite:

Went to church, came home.  Going to go to an anniversary service at Bro. Gardner's church now.

Aaah!  Church was awesome.  My pastor preached on how yes, God has mercy and grace and restoration for the lost sheep but that falling is over rated.  It's better to stand!  He talked about the other 99 sheep, how their testimonies may not be as dramatic but they are so powerful.  He talked about the unity and safety in the fold, how the 1 lost sheep Jesus goes after but that straggling sheep invites danger closer to the rest of the sheep.  It's never just about the one lost, it affects everyone.  He also talked about Jacob, how when he persisted with God, his name, who he was, was changed forever.  He didn't continue with the same mess, it was put under his feet.  He was no longer the Jacob the deceiver but Israel the prince.  He talked about how grace does NOT negate living an overcoming life.  Such a great sermon.  I am forever changed.  The preaching gets recorded, I think I want to get it and listen to it again.

Hannah's friend has a skating party this afternoon.  I'm exhausted but happy.  I get to be a SAHM and work a part time job while homeschooling one of my kids.  God is good.

If ya'll get a chance say a prayer for the church  where I got the Holy Ghost in Alabama. After 30 some odd years the pastor walked in and resigned today with no warning. Nothing bad just feels it's time to go but the church is still in shock. This is the only pastor that has ever been there.

Off to church soon.
