with my first pregnancy I had one rather odd craving! LOL. That was dipping butter popcorn into vanilla ice cream!
ooooooooo, I could go for that. With your fingers or with a spoon? Hot fudge on top?
:freaky2:
I just dipped the popcorn in with my fingers. LOL

When I was pregnant with my first child, I craved Pickles and Ranch Dressing.
With my second... all I really wanted was Taco Bell Burrito Supremes. :)
Mine was turnip greens and meatloaf

I'm craving some orange juice and ground pepper right now
along with some swiss cake rolls mashed around a banana
:fork:
Do you put the pepper in the OJ?
Thats gross.
freshly ground on top yummmmmmmmE
its delicious
:o Ew, that sounds pretty nasty. lol
I didnt crave anything but cinnimon rolls and a few times I wanted some steak. I never got either though. LOL
I ate so much macaroni and cheese during my first pregnancy that the ladies i worked with said the baby was going to be born with macaroni coming out of his ears, haha.
I also craved pancakes, mexican food, and dr. pepper. I didn't like to eat it all at the same time though.
With my second I wanted cheesesticks and chicken strips from sonic all the time.
With my third it was pancakes and scrambled eggs.
And with all three, i wanted meat. Anykind of meat, all the time. I could have lived off of steaks and ribs. Yummm, yummm. But that's pretty normal. I'm not pregnant now and I still want it all the time, haha.
I gained around 40 lbs with all three of my pregnancies. I was underweight starting out all three times, so it was ok for me to gain that much.

Lucky! Even the smell of meat (cooking or just sitting on the table) made me get sick. I was a veggetarian for about half of my pregnancy..lol I hope this time I don't have as weak a stomache...
I'm underweight according to the charts and with Ethan I gained 53 lbs..it was nice to have some curves for once! ;) Haha. I hope this time I can keep it down lower though, my doc was worried I would have a hard time delivering because I have a really small bone structure and they say extra weight doesn't exactly help.

just stay away from the pink dresses and i think you'll be fine. maternity clothes are intended to show off one's natural pregnant beauty, after all. and if you are really pregnant you ought to be proud of the changes you display. at least . . .that's what i was told . . . a LONG time ago!!

I did...oh brother. ??? Heehee. It's not contagious; is it?
I'm gettin' kinda hungry. You?
i don't know. i've heard that if you drink from a bubbler after someone who is pregnant you can get pregnant. so . . i avoid bubblers. that's easy here in MN where they don't seem to have them. every time i ask they just sort of look at me odd . . . and turn away . . . hhhmmm?
well, sort of, trav, but . . you know . . not for pickles or ice cream . . although pickles are a vegetable, right terp?
Haha. They ARE a vegetable. Yay!!! I think I'd kill myself with all that sodium, but a veggie by any other name...
Ice Cream is Happy Food. :thumbsup2:
of course, if we're talking Leon's frozen custard . . i think that is completely dairy and that would be okay, too. hhmmm . . let's see . . 6 hours to get there, 6 hours back . . nope. i'd be QUITE late for work.

What is a purple cow?
Purple cows are the animals that grape juice comes from. And they like cream with fruit, as well. :P
:beret:
I just finished mine... *licks spoon and smacks lips* its wonderfully delicious and hits the spot!
Step One
Generously scoop vanilla icecream into a glass
Step Two
Pour grape juice over vanilla icecream in glass
Step Three
Take spoon and shovel slowly into mouth and savor
Step Four
Repeat above until glass is empty
Step Five
Repeat all above steps until your mouth, tummy and you are just so happy you can't stand it anymore
*also can be done with orange juice... but then its an orange cow
Step Six
Repeat until tummy has desired tightness :pump and looks ready to explode. Pregnancy rumors will spread until...untillll....
Page 6!
pregnancy rumors can spread all they want.. who cares?
rest assured, regardless of your gender, you cannot get pregnant from eating purple cows... believe me

Reminds me of a story Mom once told of a little boy in her kindergarten class.
Lunchtime was a time for her to just sit back and listen to what they came up with.
One day a little guy mentioned "skin milk" to another one. The following conversation ensued:
"Skin milk? What's skin milk?!"
[incredulous look] "You don't know what skin milk is?! Well, it's when you take the cow, and you skin it, and then you take his skin off. You know, you 'skin' it? And then you take the skin and you squeeze it really tight and then the milk comes out."
"Oh!"
:laughhard:
The things we learn in kindergarten.
Poor Mom had to keep a straight face and not crack up. Poor Mom. lol

yeah, but it has nothing to do with what I eat - thanks for pointing it out anyway though :P :biglaugh:
Would anyone here TRY chopped apples in a taco?
its not really all that adventurous... just look at the other toppings on a taco
Lettuce - also found in salads along with.... apples
Cheese - commonly goes with.... apples
Sour cream - works with fruit, especially...... apples
I mean when you really think about it, how can any taco be complete
without apples?!?!
I don't put apples in my tacos - that's just not Mexican. :biglaugh:
I do put apples and walnuts or pecans into my chicken salad, though, and it totally rocks!
DO I put apples in my tacos? No. Would I be willing to TRY apples in my tacos? Yes.
But only once. LOL
:beret:
Did someone just say the words "chicken salad" and use the phrase "it totally rocks!" in the same sentence?!?! :tantrum:

Ive never ate apples in my salad, unless its fruit salad.. lol.. and, Never ate Cheese on apples that sounds crazy! And Sour Cream with fruit? maybe, if a potato was a fruit.. lol
A slice of cheddar cheese goes good either with an apple or a slice over a piece of apple pie melted is actually good (and interesting). It's sort of like mixing the salty and the sweet. Similar sensation to a chocolate covered pretzel.
I have made the statement more than once, I will try anything once....at least.
I LOVE cheese and apple pie....In fact I just mentioned it to Jolene the other day and she thought I was crazy...glad to see Im not alone in my craziness.
AB, how to you cut the apples that you put into the tacos? Cubes? Or really thin slices?
little cubes
I may have to check into that.....
BTW...do you put them just on homeade tacos, or take out tacos too?
just homemade
take out is taco bell drivethru eat-in-the-car... and my car doesn't have an apple tree :biglaugh:
Bummer right?
I take for granted that I live two blocks from Taco bell, so Taco Bell is an eat at home food for me. As is Subway... :yum:
I really would love to have Subway today...and I might. :freaky2:
oh lord, I had taco bell last night! I love taco bell! AND Subway!
Cant go wrong with either one of those.
I want tamales. GOOD ones. That's my only weird craving, I think - I'm having withdrawals from Mexican food. :biglaugh:

Hey, now! Don't knock it until you've tried it.. It's converted many chicken salad-haters - even people who hate the taste of miracle whip or mayo. *shrug* It's good stuff!
I only like cheese melted onto things (like enchiladas or a baked potato) so the cheese and apple pie thing sounds hideous. I don't like chocolate covered pretzels, either, so maybe that's why..

is cheese and applie pie an east coast thing? in WI we have cheese with/on everything and i don't know that it's all that popular. not sure i've ever honestly had it. although i love cheese and i love apple pie.
one of my bosses would often eat sliced apples and cheese for lunch. hhhmmm . . . sounds like something i could do. no cooking involved. . . . cheese involved . . . winning combination!
I'm getting hungry reading this!!!!!!
Apples and cheese? ? ? ? I think I'll pass on that one!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!
You're from Maine and you don't do Apples & Cheese?!?!?!?!?! I thought that was most decidedly New England.
Gotta' do it w/ Vermont Sharp Cheddar...
mmmm... I love sliced apples and cheese.
We even sometimes do cheese slices on applie pie. (;) How's that for grossing y'all out.)
Oh - never mind...I should have read all the posts leaidng up to that.
Yes an Apple Pie w/ Cheese eating contest would be really good!!
Trav & Mel...Glad to know I'm not alone. lol As I tell my husband (who's a picky eater & thinks some things I eat are crazy), I feel sorry for the people out there who don't know the joys of certain foods & food combinations. Mmmm... :yum: I might buy and apple pie tonight! lol
I had actually never heard of it till a few years ago, we had a freshly baked apple pie at work and my boss came in a stuck a piece of cheese on it and slapped it in the microwave...we we were all thouroughly grossed out, he made us try some, and I enjoyed it..I have since had it a few times and I do like it. But I hardly ever get it anymore cause I dont bake pies and I dont work in a kitchen anymore.

Alot of people around here do eat apples and cheese, but, it's just not for me I guess!!!!! I'll have my apple pie with French Vanilla Ice Cream on it!!!
Found the thread...I forgot to look here...LOL
Anyway... AB...how exactly do you make a purple cow?
I might try it.... :o
I haven't heard of a purple cow in AGES! Wow...
I'm not Amelia, but here's the recipe I've always seen..
PURPLE COW
Combine:
1 cup grape juice, chilled
2 tablespoon sugar
4 tablespoon milk
Shake well then add 2 large scoops of vanilla ice cream. Shake again until blended.
Pour into chilled glasses, Top with whipped cream.
Fills a large glass.
The one that Dylan's class makes is scoops of ice cream with grape soda.
couple scoops of vanilla icecream with purple grape juice poured over
gag...that sounds disgusting...
well I was going to try it. But I dont have any Ice Cream. I thought it was grape juice and milk. But, we are going to Chick-fl-a tonight, so I can get them to put me some Ice cream in a cup beofre I leave and try it then...or I may just take the grape juice with me and try it there and gross everyone out!
Pregnant women are so round looking....and fascinating.
I LOVE PURPLE COWS!
Well, I tried ABs version and I loved it! If I would have had some more cash, I would have brought some CFA IC home and had another one later...I may have to start keeping that stuff on hand, it was great!
Purple Cows sound gross to me, any way you mix it. Just the idea of the grape flavor and any kind of cream..... ewwwwwww. :frownshake:

I'm craving jambalaya! :thumbsup2: Oh, and pickles! I bought some, but- they turned out to be waay too spicy!
I "saw" a purple cow for the first time last night and I realized that if I ever tried one I would have to be blindfolded. It looks equally as gross as it sounds. :yell:
hmmm I think my purple cows look pretty... they are all purple and swirled with the white from the vanilla...
Purple and white swirls? Maybe it was just grape milk I saw.

How do you make a purple cow, again?

Its not...it is very good, and the orange juice one is great too!
I think the name of it is half the fun, myself! lol

easier to just cut them up real small and put them in the icecream

Yall....I cannot believe I am fixing to admit this...but right this moment I am eating Pickles and chocolate cake.
I do not know what possessed me to try this, but I wanted some pickles, and when I went in the kitchen here at work, I got the pickles, and I saw the cake and I remembered this thread and I thought..hmmm I wonder. And I dont have to wonder anymore....
IT IS GOOD!
Mary will be so proud!
Actually, sour things and sweet things are delicious together.
I used to get those pound cakes you could get out of the vending machines and a bag of salt & vinegar chips. Of course I would have leftovers and once talked a friend of mine into trying it and she loved it. From then on, as long as we worked together, we would get the combination and split it. Delicious!
this is a whole new concept to me...I may have to try new weird stuff like that.

I was craving corn chips and toblerone chocolate and eggs sooooo bad - to the point that I kept whining to my coworker and finally at lunch went to the closest bodega and stocked up
I try to be healthy... and then I get uncontrollable cravings... and believe me, its uncontrollable LOL I dream about the stuff and everything reminds me of it LOL LOL LOL
It's been my experience that if you don't feed those kinds of cravings you will go crazy and end up in the NH with Cheeze, so it's good that you stocked up! :laughhard:

Umm.... salt and vinegar potato chips?
:beret:
REAL salt and vinegar potato chips, okay. But where can you get them these days? All the chip brands around here use malic acid to imitate vinegar... well, at least imitate the acidity. And it will eat the skin right off your tongue after eating a few handfuls.
