Ok so...I promised JJ I would tell the Kevin story in this thread. Lol
Several years ago, I had a very vivid dream that has stuck with me. In the dream, I was in Ocala Florida at our UPCI campgrounds. I was in a meeting of some sort, and it was in a room around a very large table. The meeting was over and I gathered my papers and things and stood up to leave, as I approached the door, an old friend stepped in my way and spoke to me. Her name is Kristen. She greeted me, and said "Melody! I haven't seen you in forever! How are you?" I replied "I am doing very well, we just moved back and are getting settled with things here" and she said "Who did you end up marrying?" and I replied "Kevin Bishop."
Her face dropped. I remember that in the dream, he was her cousin or distant relative, and she then asked me, very genuinely concerned "are things OK now?" and I replied "Yes, couldn't be better, we are so happy." and I meant it. I could feel the happiness as I talked to her. Then we both left the room and went on about our business.
When I woke up, I could remember every detail. I was older in the dream...don't know how much, but I knew I had been married awhile.
The next time I saw Kristen, which was a few months after having the dream, I told her about it, and she says she has never met anyone by that name at all. I told some friends about it at the time, and since then we all have been on the lookout for him. I have even googled the name, and I check phone books and ministerial directories now and then when the thought crosses my mind.
It's just weird that I would remember that so vividly, and it's stuck with me. It's kinda a joke, I always say that Kevin Bishop is who I am gonna marry someday, but honestly, if a man walked in and that really was his name, I would prolly pass out.

Good cell group tonight. I made sloppy carmel pecan apple pie & coffee for a snack.
Also, 3 days until Nathan's suprise birthday party! He is oblivious so far. We will have 32 people there, 9 are kids. I can't figure out how much meat I need for tacos. I thought 8lbs would do it but I have 7lbs & it doesn't seem like near enough. I'm thinking 6 more lbs maybe? We'll also have spanish rice & black beans. The tacos will be loaded with choices of: lettuce, tomatoes or rotel, sour cream, shredded cheese or nacho cheese, cilantro, green pepper, onion, black olives, on crunchy or soft taco shells or chips
PB bars for desert, iced tea, pink lemonade & water to drink, oh & coffee.
Anybody have experience with this? Chel, Sandra?
I don't know, but make it 33....35 if I can find Kevin and pick up Mel Mel on the way.... :P

Mom and Dad went to the Dr, and I'm here at home. I cleaned the kitchen, and have steaks marinating for dinner tomorrow. Got some laundry going too. I've already been on the phone to Ann and Granny all morning, and texting other friends too. It's been a busy morning already. AND, I ran vinegar through the Keriug to de-scale it.
I think I'll go plug my phone in, and watch a couple episodes of NCIS while I wait on news from dad.
Oh...I should get something to eat too, since I haven't done that yet today.

Yeah it does! I seen on pinterest to dip fruit in yogurt & roll in whatever for a pretty snack. I still haven't tried it.

Man. I love my job. Only in Arkansas would you suddenly hear the sounds of a fiddle and banjo wafting through the State Capitol. :laughhard: Being somewhat of a bluegrass nut, I investigated- and discovered a lobbyist playing the banjo, a senator singing, and another senator playing the fiddle. I wasted an hour just listening, and scored a cd for my troubles. They were so good I even enjoyed "Walk across Texas".
I'd vote for those three even if I didn't agree with their policies.....just to hear the music. :laughhard:

Banjos are made for fast songs. Hubby doesn't like to play if it's a really slow song.
Banjos don't sound right for sad songs. Just don't fit.
Although Moore and Napier did some gospel that had banjos on slow songs, and it sounded good. But, being gospel, they weren't sad.

I played a prank on Nathan by adding bluegrass to his Pandora once. It was hilarious, it completely threw him for a loop. He made me take them off.

Worked. Dermatologist. Hospital to be with a family in our church. He's our children's pastor, my friends' dad, one of my favorite little girls "Poppy" and an incredibly used & anointed man of God! He has stage four cancer and has an abscess in his colon that is bleeding. The bleeding must stop or he will bleed out. We were all reduced to tears in the CCU waiting room when we heard that. Only God is in the miracle business... Believing for a miracle! I know we would ALL appreciate your prayers for Bro. David Ramsey!

We had a visiting preacher. Service was great.
Drove home with the gas light on and didn't even notice.

I had a weird GP dream.
Most times I dream about the people of GP, stuff we do in person, or actually meeting new people, but this time I was actually just reading the board. I noticed I had a new PM, and when I opened it it was from Monitor. It basically said "It has come to my attention for the second time this week, and I must warn you again to watch your mouth, or you WILL be removed from the board. Your recent comments about Obama were uncalled for and will not be tolerated. One more word like that and you will be banned for life. No exceptions. I have already warned you once on the matter."
I then began to search my PMs, and I only had the one reprimand. Nothing prior to that. Then I searched my own posts, and I had said NOTHING about Obama, EVER. I didn't understand what was going on, and I thought I was being framed. But I was scared to reply, cause I thought I would be banned anyways. So I decided not to post anything anywhere anymore. At least for awhile.
Then I woke up.
And I'm happy to see I didn't have any new PMs from Monitor this morning.

Thanks so much for praying for Bro. David! He shocked his family this morning by sitting up in a chair when they walked in today! Nurses are amazed! They haven't seen the doctor yet, their spirits are lifted. His blood count isn't great but it's better than falling! He stil needs prayer.. But we're so thankful for what God has already done!!
Working tonight. Gonna go by Walgrrens and pick up my prescriptions hopefully. I had the wrong card last night and it said I had no coverage. Hopefully it'll work this time and my medicine won't be super expensive!
On the wedding front... We have 28 days. Planning is going fine. Only problem now is that Jeremys mom may not get to come. I told Jeremy to wait...cause God can work it out! Her work just lost like 6 employees at once and they revoked all planned time off. :/

In other news, I just sorted through all this stuff that came in the mail about my new Roth IRA. Five envelopes, multiple pages in most of them, and the only thing I needed was the one sheet that had my account number on it. I think they're burning up most of their profits via post office and printer ink refills. I opted for online, paperless account management. THIS is PAPERLESS?
Got Dad to the dialysis place. I was not permitted to stay with him, so I left. I went to the produce place, and now I'm in the parking lot of a dollar store, gonna go in and browse there a bit. Then go across the street to the family Frozen Food store. Ive never been there and some of our church folks say that they have awesome deals, I need to check it out to kill these four hours that I have to wait for dad to be done.
He was scared, but I'm sure when it's done he will be more relaxed. The unknown is always a bit scary.

Got a request that shocked me and has made me extremely nervous...
One of Lou's cashiers and her husband have been going through some very rough times, both healthwise and financial. They've never known anything about a pentecostal church either. They are in their late forties to early fifties...They started coming to church with us a few weeks ago, and the lady told Lou they were looking for a home church. They don't have any transportation, so we've been picking them up.
The first couple of services, they were kinda nervous- the lady told me that if someone grabbed her, she was "making tracks outta there". :biglaugh: I've noticed that they have been clapping more, and seemingly more involved every service. Today, they asked Lou if I would give them a home Bible study. I said yes, of course- no way to turn that down. Now I'm scared to death.... :laughhard: Lou told me she's been asking some questions at work pertaining to church, so I knew they were interested. The lady texts Lou daily and almost always tells Lou she can't wait for the next church service. :thumbsup2:
So if you have a chance- say a prayer that I can teach them a bible study in the manner that it can be clearly understood. I SO want to see my church grow and have an active part in it, and I certainly don't want to confuse them. Thanks

God took the pain from me Thursday so I could go to church. But it is back today.
Tomorrow I have meetings and sunday Church. I really need to be able to focus on my tasks at hand, I do not see missing as an option, I don't care if I'm dying!

It is to the point, powerful, respectful of where "Christians" have come so far but expounding Truth. I have heard so many testonies from others on it too. I will mail you one if you want. Our church has a goal to have a hundred Bible studies at the same time. & that is the one that will be used most.
Very exciting for you! My pastor says all you have to do to teach one is be one step ahead of them, cause they don't know! & if you ask a question u don't have the answer to, be honest & tell them you'll find out.

He was nervous and scared at first. He did ok though. I'm actually up now to get ready and take him back in so he can have another one done this morning. Then Tuesday, he will start having it Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays.
It made him really weak. We were told that though, so no surprise there, it's just hard to adjust.
I think though, that once he starts getting this regular, he will feel much better and it will help him a lot!! It's just gonna take a little time.
I took dad to town, gotta go back at 10:30 to get him.
I went to church and got some Jesus time, then I went to WM and got some stuff for the weekend. My oldest brother, John, is coming to see dad. And my 16year old niece is supposed to be coming too.
I'm excited.
Meeting today, and church tomorrow. :D

[including when I used to go to church with Elona's dad.] They lost grandma on mom's side about a month ago and her dad just passed away this past Thursday. I can't even begin to think what the family is going through right now.

And in sharing- 4gb is alot of memory. :laughhard: I never realized that! Got a ton of my music on a memory stick/ thumb drive and a couple of awesome sermons....... still got room left. And common sense prevailed- I could buy a 2 gig thumb drive or a 4gig at the same price- why buy less? :laughhard:

Sharing news. I went to my meeting, then Pastor took us all out to eat with the evangelist, (who looks a lot like McGee from NCIS) and then I took Erica home and hung out there for awhile. Then my brother called, he will be here tomorrow earlier than we expected, so I came home, prepped our lunch for tomorrow (more crockpot potato soup) and so far I've swept the kitchen, taken out all the garbage, washed the bathroom rugs, and swept the bathroom. All that's left is to wait for the rugs to finish, look over my SS lesson stuff again, fold a load of my laundry and go to bed. Tomorrow, I make my bed and go to church and the house will be presentable. Lol.

It's starting to get very icy around here now and since several of our church members live outside of town our pastor cancelled service tonight. It was a suprise! Only with a phlegmatic husband could I pull that off. Fantastic church, fabulous party, good food. Feeling blessed. Also sang with Nathan again for choir. I tried to to do a little more adlib. I still get nervous some & my throat will tighten up... Lol
Since I am suppose to update on the service, and I am awake and can think straight, I will try to make sure Mel does not need to fill in empty spaces.
We pushed through with prayer, had a visiting preacher there, He went outside with some of the men and anointed the street in front of the church where the parade would pass by.
We all gathered together and prayed as a united congregation, we had tongues and interpretation, and God has removed a Barrier? Barrior? Anyway God has promised to answer our prayers and grant promises... We all prayed and we had a lot of intercessory prayer. .... I don't remember much because I was trevailing a good bit for the souls... I remember feeling Peace flood the service...
So what is it that happened with the parade, and you not having to sit through it?

Woke up with a bad migraine this morning. Do you know how difficult it is to play the piano for worship service when your head is pounding, and your eyes are going weird, and your timing is off, and you can't see straight or process or anything else helpfully normal? Yeah. Had a feeling a few of you would know what that's like. Blech. We'll just say today was difficult, and leave it at that. :)
God is still wonderful even when days are difficult.
Took a bag of J's out grown clothes to church to give to a friend for her not-so-little-anymore boy who is only one step behind Jason. Seriously. The church shoes that we just had to replace for J were on his feet for church this evening. :lol: I really like it when we can pass on stuff to someone else who can get some use out of them.

Bad news: they still had the parade.
Good news: we cancelled our fundraiser because pastor felt led to after anointing the street!

Ok so. Kimber, your recap was good, but vague. Lol I'll tell my side too.
First of all, as of this morning, Kimber and I only had two Sundays left with our class, and so this morning, we got in there and had so much fun with those kids! It was great! And next week, we have a pizza party complete with Ice Cream for our last shindig with this group! Can't wait! (yes, pizza rolls and ice cream sandwiches at 10am, SO WHAT?! That's how we roll with our kids!)
Ok so, after SS, Worship service was AMAZING! (note to Kimber, we need to PRACTICE Lord ja mighty before we sing it so much, I always feel like we are lost and don't have a clue, and James tries to take your part and it's confusing. We need to bring that up at the meeting on Friday night. Haha!) things slowed down a bit and bro Ramsey had the guys gather around dad and I LOST IT. Ann came up to the platform and prayed for me, and then the spirit was moving and we had the tounges and interpretation. (sp?) it was awesome!
Then when the speaker got up, he felt to go anoint the curb where the parade would pass, and Pastor had already been saying that he was praying that when the floats pass our building, that people would begin to weep and be drawn by the spirit of God. So they annointed the curb and came back in, and he called us to the front and we had an awesome season of prayer. Then the PEACE that filled the room was incredible! Wow. Its been a WHILE since I have had that much peace in my heart. Wow is all I can say.
*contented sigh* I still feel it. Wow.
Then after all that, Pastor got up and said that Park-it was cancelled, cause it defeated the purposes of praying for them if we still were gonna have to be out there making money and watching the parade. Lol
So we all went home! Yay!
My personal share: I came home, finished the soup, changed clothes and then my brother arrived. We have had a blast all evening, picking on mom and her dog, and my Neice and I went to Walmart to get a few things, and rented a movie and we all watched it together.
It's been a GREAT day!

Morning! I made breakfast, and now we are just chilling.
My phone died a particularly horrid seizure induced death. Luckily I was able to reboot...at the cost of all my data. *sigh*
When you work second shift you miss all the revival services. You miss most of the family dinners. You miss a lot of stuff. But there is one good thing about second shift. When you go to bed you don't have to set an alarm clock, and when you wake up you can lie in bed as long as you want after you wake up.

I is here....thought I'd posted here already today, but realized that was in my "ask" thread.... I had today off thanks to it being President's Day- I do enjoy being a state employee from time to time. It definately has its perks. :biglaugh:
So I've cleaned the house up a bit, put Pork steak in the crockpot with a blend of spices and mushroom soup, took the vette and chey to the local store- basically wasted the day- after getting up at 9:30 am. Oh, and I've got the battery charger on rusty, gonna try to tinker with him a bit. It is beautiful here today, although a tad windy. Around 60 degrees... And that is that. :hi:
My brother and Neice left. We had a good time while they were here. As soon as they walked out the door, I went to my room and took a nap. I was TIRED!

Mardi Gras---"Fat Tuesday". Yep, got Catholic origins....All I know about is they have, um, unique, ways for ladies to earn strings of beads. I still don't understand how ANY church could be aligned with the paganistic event. And I guess in america, it's mostly a Louisiana/florida/south mississippi thing, due to the areas French heritage. We don't have anything much to do with it here, anyhow.
We are not involved with it in ANY way, but the Parade route goes right down our street in front of the church. People park in our parking lot and trash the property. So several years ago, the youth thought of SELLING parking spaces to the public. If they want to use our lot, they have to pay, and the youth and youth team would be there to supervise so no one trashes our property. It's a way to make a bit of money, and as an added bonus, we can keep an eye on our kids so they don't run off and watch the parade with the wrong kind of people.
There is a lot of drunkenness, partying, and nakedness and other lewd activities that go along with this month long celebration. So keeping an eye on our own is our main objective. I personally hate the whole deal, but we do have fun being together on that day. But this year, I had a bad feeling, plus other things that I've been having to deal with, AND we were expecting my brother to come in, so I was over it before it even started.
I was thrilled that God answered the way He did!
Let me clarify, Mel- I just read what I wrote, and I don't want to come across wrong. I wasn't referring to YOUR church and the idea of making money off of the parade. I was referring to the catholic church being aligned with it- NOT y'all renting your parking lot to the heathens. That just seems like good business to me. Make 'em pay their tithes one way or another. :laughhard:

The computer in my office at church, I got from the company where I worked at the time. They got new computers and were just throwing the old ones away.
When I started working at my current job I saw modern computers in offices, and a very old Win98 box running a dot matrix machine. I knew two things immediately. 1 - Someone here knows how to match computers to the task at hand, and how to use old computers where they will still be effective. 2 - I won't be getting any computers from this job. :smirk2:

Bah. My day started off less than ideal. Lou went to her mom's house last night for a family dinner, which I played hookie from, as I am known to do. She came in after I'd laid down, so we didn't talk much. This morning she calls me on the way to work and says, "by the way, Mark (her uncle) backed into my car last night. He said to call him today and he'll give you his insurance info". :o
I'm thinking it is a mild scratch- but no, when I see it, he has caved in the entire passenger side front door. :o I am sick. While he has insurance and it'll be fixed, I've gotta struggle around and get one of my non functioning fleet fixed so we both have a way to work. Not what I wanted. If it ain't one thing, it's another.
It could be worse though, so praise God anyhow. Even if I feel like I'm praising Him on credit, today. :biglaugh:

Lordy this is SO me. I cried over my math homework last night...cus I was so tired, and had so many things to do, and I didn't understand it, and I was frustrated and just simply overwhelmed.
An Amish lifestyle is not incompatible with Pentecostal doctrine/experience/belief. It requires a clean break though, half-and-half modern lifestyle and Amish lifestyle seems a bit unfeasible.
I don't even have the energy to run 90 to nothing lately. So my pathetically slow speed IS my 90 to nothing. Blah. But I'm still feeling like I'm not accomplishing anything.
Oh, and for the record. I despise headaches. Perhaps especially ones that continue nagging, nagging, nagging, nagging, and don't want to leave. But I also hate migraines. Okay, it's back to just despising headaches in general. :lol:
If anyone has experience with cooking wheat-free, gluten-free, dairy-free meals, I'd be interested in talking to you. Oh, and leave out all potatoes, tomatoes, corn, and a few dozen other things. *sigh* Thank God I only have to do this for 2-4 weeks. I'd go (even more) insane otherwise.

Actually, my kids almost never do ghat, I can't even remember her doing that before so it must be something she decided to try. I think she concluded it was a fail. :)
I saw this lady in Walmart once scream at her kid, then when he still was acting out, she took her flip flop off and beat his backside with it! It was hilarious! I had to walk away so I wouldn't laugh. He really deserved the punishment, and she wasn't hitting him hard enough to be abuse, so I found it quite funny.
Still makes me chuckle. Bad me. Lol
Dylan was having a massive meltdown in the van one day. I was at the end of my rope with him and he let me know there wasnt a thing I could do because I was driving. I pulled into Ace hardware....got out....walked in and asked for a 5 gallon paint stick (they are free) and walked out with one in each hand. My other boys were laughing their rears off and Dyl was terrified. Needless to say we haven't had a meltdown like that since. I didn't have to paddle him once before his attitude changed. Although he got himself a good swat when he got home.

Today is one of those days where I pay for all those boring days I enjoy so much...
I get to work a little early, and some guys are pulling out. Looked like they had just filled up, no big deal. I didn't recognize the plane, looks like they may have done a cross country or something. Its a older plane, which is not uncommon, but not in the best of shape...
The guy who rents part of the hangar comes over right away, and says the plane had been having problems. As we stood there talking, we could hear the guy trying to run-up and sure enough it wasn't running right.
The guy then pulls out on the runway, starts to take off, and the plane is backfiring like crazy...he aborts takeoff and pulls back to the terminal (thank goodness).
They proceed to work on it, and in the mean time, we have a jet pull up, needing fuel, and picking up passengers.
While the jet was waiting on the last passengers to arrive, the smaller plane takes back off...gets off the runway, and loses power...and lands off the runway in the grass.
I see it happen, and shoot out the door, my help runs out the hangar door to get the truck, and we tear out of here like mad men.
All was ok...but we scared the jet passengers to death...LOL
I guess the guy got some bad fuel west of here yesterday afternoon, made it here, and figured it would all go away. Lots of water in the fuel he got east of here...*sigh*

Theres a big difference between a plane that runs right and one that doesn't...this one didn't.
I have seen a few kids while I've been at work that needed a good beating. lol
There was a screamy whiney one the other day that I wanted to turn around and say, "Do you want me to smack you!?" just to see if it'd shut them up. I refrained. :P
Generally when I see kids acting up in stores it makes me want to smack the parents. :P Terrible, I know. But it seems like most good parents handle it immediately (like in the above stories) and the bad parents just let the whining go on. And on. And on. And on. At which point... yeah, I want to smack the parent for letting their child grow up a brat. :lol:
However, now that I'm "mom"... well, we'll see if my story changes in a few years. :lol:

I will say this...just because a kid is throwing a massive fit....never jump to conclusions. Although my kid is 10 and looks like he should be able to behave in the grocery store doesn't mean there arent underlying reasons on why he is crying and begging to go home.
i know the difference between bratty behavior or not in my kid. Its embarrassing to me but there are times I have to run the errand despite the fact or not of the interuption in his schedule or that he has severe anxiety at that moment.
Its too much to go into but Ive had more than my fair share of judgements. Most before we had an official diagnosis that Dylan has aspergers. Very thankful that most days are good but we had a rough go of it in the beginning. Lots of unwarranted swats :smirk2:

Sarah - totally agree. And maybe I've been too hasty on occasion, but I have worked with a fair number of autistic and high needs kiddos, and I can generally spot them fairly quickly. There's just a difference in HOW they're behaving... even if it's the same behavior. Sounds stupid to a lot of people, but I'm sure you'll know precisely what I mean. *lol* Once you've taught/had a child with "severe anxiety" stuff going on, it's easier to spot. *shrug* I'm sure I miss it sometimes, but I don't always. :)

Somewhat amusing and somewhat not:
We recently had a family start coming to our church with a child who is extremely autistic. Definitely nothing his parents can do to "hide" the behavior issues they're dealing with. Well... one of the older ladies (someone who, as far as I know, has never had any experience with autistic kiddos) turned into a seething little boiling pot when he started acting out. The parents were doing everything they could (and doing fabulously, I might add) but sometimes there's just not a lot you can do at the moment (and most especially with a three year old). Anyhow, my mom cornered the older lady after church to have a chat, and made a big deal about how wonderful this new young mom was, and all these challenges they're facing, and what a trooper this mom is to keep trying to bring her three little ones to Sunday school, and how this gal never really had a good mom herself - but is doing such a fabulous job with her own, when SHE needs a mom-figure. You should have seen the attitude change. *lol* It was quite hilarious to me, actually. I mean, I wish the older lady would have been more understanding up front. But the complete flip-flop from a seething "why aren't they DOING something about that horrible child!?!" to "Oh, the poor dear, we should help her out and be her friend" was both amusing and... well, a bit frustrating. :updown:

There was an older lady that didn't understand Dylan not wanting to "touch" or shake hands. She told him if he didn't shake her hand she would hug him. Before I could say a word she grabbed him and hugged him. Seriously Clint and I were shocked he didn't go into full blown panic LOL But i think he knew her intentions were pure. She's 85 years old....im not sure she would understand even if I explained.
I would have never understood if I didn't have a kid like this myself. Its such an odd and unpredictable thing. There are times when i see a kid having issues and know their history and its clear to me the kid probably does have autisitic tendencies---when their parent constantly wants to spank or discipline it makes my blood boil! then there are kids who you just KNOW are pressing their luck.

My Dad REFUSES to be cremated. And he also said that NO ONE in this family will be permitted to be cremated while he is still alive. He has cremated several people in the last few years, and he is not going to be a party to that. After he told me all the details, I don't want to be either.
Why? I'd rather be cremated. I think it's ridiculous how expensive it us to bury someone.
I don't have an issue with cremation, but I know a fair number of Christians that do. *shrug* And I'm with MY - with the prices to bury someone... well, sometimes it's not even an option.

It's not the Christian aspect of cremation that has Dad turned off...it's the physical act. He says that they put you in an oven, and after a day in there, all that's left is your bones. They take the bones out, put them in a grinder and grind them down into dust, and place it in an urn. That's all fine and good, but the grinder is never cleaned, and all your bones and ash are not accounted for, plus you may be in your urn with lots of other people who were ground up before you.
Dad says the process is nasty, and dirty, and with little respect to the deceased. He doesn't want any part of it for him or his loved ones.
Prices are high to bury. Higher than cremation, but you can get a decent respectful burial for a few thousand dollars.
I don't know. I have mixed feelings on it. But once I'm dead I guess it doesn't matter a whole lot. Just let me see Jesus and y'all can do whatever you want to my body!

Where? I know from experience the cheapest of funerals run at the very least $5,000 dollars and that doesn't include opening and closing of a grave and a cemetery plot. After seeing what a funeral cost I don't care what they do with this old body after I am gone. Just toss me in the river with a rock tied to me. lol
As long as you sing "Goodbye world, goodbye" at my funeral, I don't care what you do with the shell. I will have gotten about all the use I can out of it anyway.

I grew up reading them....still have been known to sneak a peek at new "Casefile" versions when left alone in the bookstore. :biglaugh: Of course, I used to get in trouble for reading the cereal box at the breakfast table, too. If it was printed, I wanted to read it.
Eh, reading is reading in my opinion. Far better thing to do (regardless of quality of writer) than to play video games or watch tv like 90% of the younger generation now does.
Besides the Hardy Boys obviously had something going right....I'm pretty sure they made good money for their day and the type of reading it was/is!

Yup....I think I've still got a couple in my collection, actually. I've always subscribed to the idea that a book was a friend, and I don't believe I've ever willingly discarded one. No telling how many Lou has discarded for me,though :lol:

Same here. I've been a speed reader all of my life, and it irritates my wife, who is not big on reading, to no end. She can't understand how I can pick up a book and honestly not realize that someone is trying to talk to me. Why should I, I'm probably thousands of miles away, in a different time period. :laughhard:

Magaret Haddix wrote the series that all begin with the words, "Among the..." I even love them. We read them together, just cause we had such interesting conversations about them.
That's great, Mel. And in sharing- I got almost nothing done today. Lou and I went flea market crawling (one of our favorite pastimes) after the library, and I found four more 1940-1950's radios that I need.....every since I bought the 1942 Silvertone, I've gotten hooked on these things. They're reasonable priced, and there's just something about the soft glow they give off that I love. I can turn one on, and imagine all the world news that probably came over it way back when...and on those rare occasions that I can pick up the grand Ole Oprey on WSM 650 am, I'm transported back 50 years. I'm just an oddball I guess. I even enjoy the soft "crackle" the speaker gives off.
Of the four I found, one was WAY overpriced, one was a floor model in poor shape, and two were perfect- and cheap. Lou wasn't fond of me dragging anything else in, so I'll have to sneak back later this week sans Lou and hope no other antique radio nerd finds them. :laughhard: I need to give up on old cars, keep Rusty and focus on the radios.. they're easier to conceal from the spousal unit. :P
Well, the radios are- the 1953 RCA Console TV I found today as well wouldn't be... the first television that has really tempted me! :laughhard:
Did my taxes, but the e-file thing messed up for my federal.... I always used TaxAct the last few years to file federal, and then the state had it's own thing to file with them...
So I did the TaxAct federal, and then went on to state, which has changed this year and they don't have their own internal site now, they give you the options to use various other free filing sites... Well, so I picked TurboTax from their list...but you have to enter all your federal info first to get it to flow through to your state, can't just enter it into state on it's own....
And I THINK that's what messed things up....Maybe...even though I hadn't submitted a federal on there through them....I dunno...but anyways, the TaxAct notice came back to me that the federal e-file wasn't accepted because my ID had already been used to submit a return.... So unless somebody pretended to be me at some prior point (Lord only knows why anybody would want to do that lol)....then it must be that being on TurboTax made it cross wires and not go through.... So I have to mail it in.... :-?

I do get money back on Fed and don't have to pay any state though, so that's good. Just a pain on the stupid filing end....

Ruby: If they haven't red it yet I would suggest "Where the Red Fern Grows". One of my favorites as a kid. Also, I still enjoy reading the Hardy Boys. Recently, I came across one of the Wimpy Kid books and read the whole thing in about two hours. It was pretty good. I am told not all of them are that great though.

Howdy y'all.
Got a lot planned tomorrow. Gonna try out a chocolate cheesecake. Install a computer at a friend's house, but the friend doesn't know it yet. Vacuum the whole church. Then either I'll go to the wild meat supper that the chocolate cheesecake is destined for, or the auction house... not sure which yet. I would normally be all over the wild meat supper, but afterward is a singing that goes much too far into the night, and it's not even close to what a pentecostal singing would be like - mostly for show, not Spirit. Nobody getting excited, nobody shouting, no anything at all, just people singing (sometimes very showy) and other people applauding.
I WILL be getting a slice of that cheesecake before it leaves though.

And.....they were tasty. Delicious, even. And massive. I ate half of one and am taking the other half to work for lunch. :fork: And I attempted to send photos of it to two friends, as is my custom of tormenting them and showing them how all things Arkansas are better....part of my attempt to woo them into moving to my area so I'll have good fellowship- but the dad blasted phone wouldn't co-operate. So I just described it for them....flavorful, juicy, tender, one inch thick slab o'beef, medium rare, well seasoned....and free if they'de just move here........ At the auction house they had Sara Lee coffee, about a one pound bag. Grandma said it was good. Uncle Fred said it was good. Dad was in for Christmas and said it was good. As one who normally does not drink coffee, I bow to their judgment and consider it good.
So they had it available again tonight, same kind. And Grandma's birthday is March 7th, and she really likes coffee. Hmmm....

Any of you ministers on this forum, remember back when you first started? You would approach the pulpit with five pages of notes, and the sermon would only last half an hour? People kept telling you don't worry, it'll get better, and you thought yeah, right. Now I have four lines jotted down on a napkin, mostly as reminders of where I should go next so I won't skip any really good parts, and I find I have to trim it a bit cause it's too long.

Well...party was AWESOME! The kids loved it! We had 11 in Sunday school today! And we have these 4 that are only "part time" students. They go to their other parents house every other weekend, and only come to Sunday school with us on these weekends they are with their mom, and then go to another church here in town for morning worship. I said all that to say this: this morning, I came out of the SS building after picking up Olivia from her class, and I was in the foyer, and overheard Haden (9) talking to his stepdad. He was saying "...but I don't want to go to our other church!!! I want to stay here! Can't we stay here? Please? Please!? I wanna stay here!! I don't want to go there...!!!" and on and on. The dad looked aggravated, and they did leave before we had our worship service, but I bout did a shout there in the foyer! SCORE!! They want to stay with US! I was so happy!

Sadly.. While I'm feeling pretty good for a Monday, Jeremy is home on the floor of his bathroom with the flu. :/ His family has been passing it around this past week. I think the last two who got it, got it passed thru the munchkin! I feel bad for him, but I can't do anything for him. We're just hoping my mom, Paige (MOH who went with me for the wedding shower up there), and I don't get the flu too! So far today I feel great!
I'm so excited. I have 15 days of work left...of course, not all of them are actual work days! Wooo! :)
Nelle, take a cold-eeze anyway, just in case. Zinc gluconate glycine (that's what is in a cold eeze) which is essentially a quick way to get zinc into your system. Immune system boost, basically. If you're going to get sick anyway it will help, and may prevent illness (unverified, because how can I know if I was going to get ill if I don't get ill?) I've had one day colds with cold-eeze though.
Zicam works on the same principle, but where Zicam has a better marketing department I find cold-eeze works better. I have no idea why, they're both just doses of zinc formatted to absorb quickly, but it does.
In other sharing news, yesterday's children's church lesson with the potted meat went very well... except two of the kids took the stuff home. One genuinely liked it, the other said he was going to give it to his mom. Oh well. It was a long lesson and I was afraid I'd have to trim it, but the visiting preacher ran a bit long and we wound up playing hangman after the lesson.

Anything makes me jumpy about the symptoms haha... But as far as I can tell, I'm fine. His doctor gave him a script for nausea meds, but he's miserable. Feels bad to be feeling good and not able to help him at all.
For nausea few things beat catnip tea with a bit of honey. Don't look at me like that, I'm serious! It works.

Instead of working 7a-4p today, I worked 7a-1230p, went home, came back at 5:30p, went home at 6:30p. Our delivery got pushed back because of flat tires all day for our truck, haha. Since he got there after dark, we have to wait until tomorrow to unload. Problem is... We have another truck scheduled at 1! We'll unload a 700 piece truck at 7am, and a 500 piece at 1. We're all gonna be cranky and tired! By "piece" I mean.. Boxes. Then we sort thru all the stuff in it...which is never all the same thing. It reminds me of one of those brown bag special things haha.. So NOW I'll work 7a-6p tomorrow instead of 2p-945p. I got one of those coat rack stands w/ umbrella holder for under $7. I'd call that a success! I hate closing! Hahaha... So now I get to open! :)
Annnnd... I'm off Wednesday! I've gotta finish clearing out my clothes from some furniture in my room so Jeremy can take it back with him when he gets up here.

Morning, all. I made it through the " I hate everyone who is not my color" rally. Only had to fight off the urge to shoot the speaker- oh, ten times or so. :lol: I just realized that I have a huge problem with someone being introduced as "Pastor so-and-so", then proceeding to spew pure hate and garbage. The moron spent ten minutes talking about their purpose for being here- genocide in South Africa( I'm still trying to figure out how that affects Arkansas)- and the next 45 minutes hating the black race and Jews. Then the idiot wants to invoke the name of Jesus. I wanted to 1) shoot him in the head 2) run up and tell him that he didn't know who Jesus was, much less be able to recognize Him when He returns, and 3) remind him that Jesus, who he professed to love, was- gasp- a JEW! Moron. On the bright side they had a big crowd- ten people maybe. And they brought them. :lol:
In other news- I'm one day closer to my weekend. :clap2: :clap: And the tires I ordered for the Corvette made it in. :clap: :clap2: And- my pastor and I were talking about my kitchen stove going out- he informed me that he had one sitting in his shop that had been given to him to give to a evangelist that needed it, but the evangelist had already procured one. He then gave it to me. :biglaugh: I am so blessed!

The health factor Meller - they're so much healthier than other waffles. Oh and their dairy free...I'm trying to watch my dairy. I can't drink regular milk...only organic or lactose-free. The regular kind just messes me up! I got the wheat kind.

So I just went out to check the mail. Slightly short of the mailbox I stopped because I heard what sounded like a baby hornet's nest. On closer inspection I noticed a large patch of clover was growing all around the mailbox, and what seemed to be half a hive of honeybees were busy working it. They didn't hurt me, I didn't bother them, but I was very careful not to bother them.
Eating Chick-Fil-A nuggets and a side salad for lunch. YUM!

Today has been great so far! I got sleep again last night that is two nights in a row, a friend of mine told me to try a type of meditation and it works, I praise God for this sleep! My phone got turned off, I may prolong paying it a bit, I like the peace and quite.
I have recently updated a few things on my laptop and I am very excited about it. Things work a little faster and are a great deal easier to control now.
Before the storm there is a certain kind of peace that comes, one to let you know it will all be okay, Then after the storm there is peace once more to remind you it all worked out for the best. That is where I am, in the moment of peace after the storm, and it all looks clear from here!

Productive day. I cleaned my living room and kitchen including rearranging furniture. My dog does not like it but she'll get over it or keep laying on the cold floor.
Made a huge salad for dinner. Made it through Walmart and only knew 2 people. Yesterday at Fazoli's we ran into 3 people I knew. Brandon complains he can't take me anywhere. It's just what happens when you live here and worked or went to church about everywhere lol.
Going to eat some mint Oreo ice cream and call it a night :)

Roscoe: I thought of you yesterday. We took Brennen to OKC to the specialist, and we were only about 6 blocks from the capitol. After the appointment, we took him there. The guard manning the metal detectors was laid back as all get out, chatted with us, and sent us on our way. We followed Brennen from the top floor (5th floor), to the bottom, and on the way back out the same guard said "Boy, that was quick." I told him "Yeah, we took the 7 year old tour..." He laughed, and said "45 seconds at one thing and hes moving on to the next thing?" "Yep."
I heard Branson got hit by a tornado down the main tourist strip. Anyone else have tornados? I know it was really warm for a thunderstorm here last night. Wish I had a 4 seasons porch to watch it from.

Dont know if you saw Michel's post on FB, but the Dr said his vision was 20/20 now. Which was a improvement!
For the rest of the story: I took Brennen to our regular doctor for his yearly eye checkup, and during his appointment, our Dr noticed scarring on his eye, most likely from a viral infection. His explanation, if you have a cold sore, rub it, then rub your eyes, thats what causes it. But out of concern, he set up a appointment yesterday for Brennen to see a specialist.
Yesterday morning, Chelleebelle took him to the specialist, the specialist looked him over, was concerned and made a appointment with yet another specialist in OKC. They were having trouble finding a opening, sent Chelleebelle and our son home, and she got a call saying we want to see him at 3 pm! Its a 2 hour drive there too...so I take off work, we drive to OKC, and finally get to the Dr's office.
Its one thing to say, yeah, your son has a scar on his eye, but its a whole other story when the specialist says "Uh, I want you to see a specialist."
We were in such a rush, I barely had time to contact my pastor, and Chelleebelle my parents, to let them know what was going on.
As we were checking in, the receptionist takes Chelleebelle's info, looks at us, and ask's "Is Nikki ________ your cousin?" I looked at her kind of funny, and said, "Yes..." Come to find out, this lady was my cousins mother in law. I was stunned. Standing in the middle of OKC, meeting someone that close to my family, was like a sign...God was with us.
While we were sitting in the waiting room, I posted on facebook a quick note asking for prayer. Facebook lit up, people praying from everywhere. Brennen was oblivious to it...LOL
Chellebelles phone lit up, people texting her, offering prayer and encouragement.
A evangelist buddy who is in California right now called, and prayed for Brennen over the phone...I nearly had a Holy Ghost shout down right in the waiting room...no kidding. I have tears in my eyes just thinking about the power we felt.
Finally they call us back to the exam, and I thought Brennen was doing awful...he wasn't reading his letters right out of that eye, ect. Then we get to the point where we meet the Dr. He comes in, and looks over Brennen. Then he goes out to get another tool to check Brennens eyes, and comes back with yet ANOTHER Dr.
They both look over Brennens eyes, and confirm that yes, the scaring is there, but the virus is dead. Then he tells us that Brennens vision is 20/20...A IMPROVEMENT OVER THAT MORNING! All in all, we must monitor the scarring to make sure it never spreads, but at this point, everything is fine!

Doing laundry and other cleaning stuffs today. I slept fitfully. Didn't even try to go to sleep till almost 3. Then I slept with my head at the foot of my bed. It was more comfortable that way for some reason. I'm doing as much laundry as possible today. Gotta get ready for the weekend. We will have at least 12 people in this house on Saturday. Gonna have a fish fry with my brother and some other family. Everyone is scared I think. Since Dad went on dialysis, the phone rings off the hook, and people keep wanting to come visit. This will be Chads second visit this month, and if my older brother can make it, it will also be his second visit this month.
I'm scared too. But unfortunately, I have to stay here every day and see the worst of the situation. I'm stressed, and I'm eating. A lot. I'm already not-so-small. This could get bad. But I don't know what else to do.
And there. There is my sharing and being transparent for the year. I can go back to hiding and pretending everything is hunky dory now.

Clint and I were in Branson this past weekend. Im glad we picked that weekend over this coming weekend! I slept through the storm but my facebook was lit up this morning from others being scared and concerned last night. To say the least this area is SUPER jumpy when it comes to storms.

Heard some very sad news today...
Her name is Adrian Anderson. She just turned 21 yesterday, been married for just over 2 years to a guy I went to church with. They go to Pentecostals of Lake City just a little down the road from Jonesboro. They did tests here in Jonesboro and they think she has leukemia. They're sending her to UAMS in Little Rock for bone marrow testing to be sure. They're down about if of course, but the doctors are being positive...it's treatable. God can heal her completely tho!
Cancer has become such a common, dirty word. I know a God.. Who is stronger than cancer, death, fear... He can restore us completely! Claiming Adrian's miracle healing... in her body and her mind! Praying for Trent (her husband) too.

Get a humidifier MellowYellow. My mother runs one in the winter and keeps the thermostat at 60 and it feels warm. It's all about the moisture in the air.

Me too! It was 73 in here earlier and I was wringing wet with sweat. Granted, I was working doing housework. But I'm ok now. I'm working on the computer now doing church signage stuff.

I think that a lot of the diseases that occur now - come from the foods we eat. I truly believe what we put in our bodies can ignite the diseases that are already in our bodies based on genetics, and certain foods "wake" those diseases up.
I highly recommend the documentary "Forks Over Knives". It's based on my thoughts above.

All problems with diet come from bright ideas people come up with to "make it better." Fruits are good for you, but the pesticides are bad. Meat is good for you, but the diet they feed meat animals to make them grow faster, produce more milk, etc makes most meats questionable. Vegetables are good for you, but not fried. Sweets (in sugar cane and sugar beets, both of which are excellent sources of many vitamins and minerals) are good for you, but the refined sugar, stripped of anything good and added to all manner of desserts, is bad for you.
The more natural your diet, the less processing, the better.
And having said that... I'm gonna go make another chocolate cheesecake. Yes, I'm a dietary hypocrite.
