Yeah, I know...who would've thought I'd be watering a garden. Just to ease the shock a little...I didn't plant any of it. Well, except the two blueberry bushes...I planted those, but I didn't dig the holes. They're not doing too well, either. Our dirt isn't the best. It's sandy, rocky and has clay in it. :-\
Oh, and I didn't get to see Chad today. :cry: I stopped by his work yesterday after I got off work, but he came home today after I left for work and was gone already when I got home.

I know what you mean.. i go to work at ten thirty and get off around seven sometimes later, go home do whatever needs to be done house work, yard work, whatever then at four i lay down, at the same excat time my wife is getting off work.. so unless i stay up later than four i don't get to see her until my days off. it kinda vaccums being that we've only been married for little over six months
ROFL! I had to think about what you were talking about when you said vaccums. That's an awesome way around getting your mouth washed out with soap!
Yeah me too!!
Jonathan...why dont you go home and go to bed and get up at 4? Thats what I do. Then you have that time with her and you can still do the stuff that needs to be done.

I literally BOLed on that one. :laughhard: :laughhard:
I was telling my hubby what a city girl you are and what I said about you watering the garden, and now you had to go and take away the fun of picturing you out slaving away in a ragged out denim skirt with sweat dripping out of every pore and dirt all over your hands and face, standing there fanning yourself with one hand and a hoe in the other with acres of farm spreading out in front of you. :laughhard:

Well, I'm glad I'm not alone in the whole "never seeing my spouse" thing. That seems to have been put on the back burner for now, though. Chad got some welding contracts in New Orleans that he's been working on so he's been working days for a few days now. We just got back in from a night out. I can't remember the last time that we went out to eat so it was a nice time. Now we both have to study...me for my sunday school lesson and him for whatever he's preaching tomorrow.
Loretta... :pound: Now, why on earth would you want to picture me like that? That's cruel and unusual! hahaha You can get the girl out of the city but you can't get the city out of the girl!

I don't have much new news to share other than I had a good day. I rearranged my living room furniture on Saturday. That makes me happy. When I was a kid, I would rearrange our living room furniture on a regular basis out of boredom. For some reason, my mom didn't ever care that I did that. Is that weird?
I haven't even started digging out of the boxes. I spent the afternoon at the garage getting my vehicle repaired, after dropping my husband off at work. I'm not sure how long he is going to be gone.

Its a hard and demanding job keeping the boys in line but the altar calls were worth it all. every night the presence of God was so thick that kids just linger in the altars for hours after service.

As some of you know the Harpers are the local childrens pastor in the wewahitchka metro area... well last wednesday night we sent home a bible quiz about jesus name baptism and infilling of the holy ghost... well we come to church on Saturday we get a phone call from pastor (and me being my usual self wonders what i did to get a phone call on a saturday night) well I answered the phone and to my surprise one of the girls that attends our mid week J-Crew Kidz service (her parents don't) parents called the pastor regarding the bible quiz we sent home, wanted to know where some of the answers were located in the Bible, he then began to give a bible study explaining the scriptures that we used and on Sunday morning she was baptized... then we get to church sunday morning and Carson Bishop (Matt's neicee for those of you that know Matt Bishop) come up to us (she also attends J Crew Kidz) and told us that she really enjoyed Wednesday nights lesson and couldn't get if off her mind and asked if she could be baptized and will be baptized this coming Sunday with her parents at church.... God is so GOOD !!! He keeps pouring out blessings upon Blessings !!!

Straight Answer??!!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
:laughhard:
Actuallyl, I thin Melody gives the best answer on this one, especially since she was an "original" Dingbat.
But I'll try to satisfy your curiosity until she comes in with a more clear answer.
The Dingbats were originally a group of people who met up in Pensacola FL who found common ground when the "Ding" :idea: became a "visible ding". When the light started coming on for the whole group, they all began to have understanding of hidden meanings and inside jokes and all around goofiness, the ding was visible everywhere and they became the Dingbats.
The group decided to stay in touch via GP and here they are were. :-(
The Dingats were once thought to be a group of Floridians, but there was one in Texas and one in Indiana, then others wanted to be dingy...... er, ummmm, I mean, join the Dingbats, so now the Dingbats are from all over the states, and could become worldwide Dingbattiness. :silly:
Most of the Dingbats know each other in person, but many of them no longer post here and others have been adopted or didn't want to be adopted and became honorary Dingbats (truthfully, I think they are in Dingbat denial). So the commonality between the Dingbats? That remains to be the unanswered question. :biglaugh: Maybe Melody can help there. :freaky2:
:bigcheese: Thanks!
:bigcheese: Welcome!

Ok..the Dingbats...
Yeah, in Aug of 2004, Justin and I went to Pensacola and met up with some friends of ours and went to Singles conference. We had a blast! And I took like 4 hours worth of hilarious video! It was awesome! During the course of the weekend, there were TONS of blonde moments provided by Jolene and Tiffany, and a few by my own self...when the light bulb did finally appear, we would shout "DING!" There are a few of those moments actually caught on the tape...
When the weekend was over, I convinced Jolene to join GP, and she did, Tiffany did too, but she fell by the wayside, and never posted after the first week. But Jolene was a staple here for quite awhile. She has since deserted us, but I will tell her to come back and make an appearance and post the picture of the 7 original Dingbats when I talk to her tomorrow. We made a thread here when we got back, and we called it the "Florida Dingbats" Thats how the name was born.
Since then, there have been many people here that we have convinced to become a Dingbat, but none have stuck around...Justin and I are the only remaining original ones that still post, with guest appearances by Jolene...like the one she will make tomorrow. :)
If I can ever get the Dingbat video on DVD, I will be posting the highlights of it on YouTube, and yall will have some awesome stuff to laugh at. :)

Well we have some big news we're thinking about either buiding a house in wewa or moving in a few years and building a house some where else ( schools are the most important factor in this situation and of course church and work as well )

Well we have some big news we're thinking about either buiding a house in wewa or moving in a few years and building a house some where else ( schools are the most important factor in this situation and of course church and work as well )
So melody when are you going to come up and see the house and baby's room ?
Indiana is always a nice place to live! lol. Not to mention that I LOOOOVVVE babies :D*
Indiana gets too cold, I just don't have a clue why anyone would want to live there. :hypocrite:
Indiana is warm compared to Northern Minnesota. Minneapolis is closer to their climate.

Amen to that... besides pastor and I were talking the other night and he wants me to start a daughter work in a few years in a neighborhing city.. so we'll just have to see what's going on. I'd like to hit the evangalistic field before I started a church; but we'll see what God has in store...
No one has posted in here in a while .... So last Sunday night I got to preach again at church (it'll be on youtube in a few days) and on Monday we'll find out what we're having.. .I'm so excited .. Yesterday at work I become certifited on the EID (eletronic immobilization device or stun gun) and also joined the pistol team . . . So what's new with everyone esle ?
I just got back from NC.

I was shot on the forearm and the chest with 45,000-50,000 volts with 4-6 milliamps with the stun gun and then the same volts and milliamps on the back with an ICE Shield
below are the two that I am currently certified on now :

Aliyah Morgan to be excact. I'm so excited, I'd never thought I'd grow up and get married and have a family of my own... i'd always thought it be "the many wives of Jonathan's Life" (any ?'s about that ask melody, she came up with it)

I second that motion. . . I think they should put the "what's a dingbat" in the welcome email they send out , explaining who and what we are, however the who and what would be an email all in itself. :frustrated:

OK, I'm sure everyone else already knows this, but tell me what makes you guys dingbats? ;)
Quote from: Sister_Mom on June 25, 2008, 06:18:46 PM
:freaky2:
Quote from: MelodyB on June 26, 2008, 08:49:39 AM
There yall go... TWO explainations. ;)

Busy, busy, busy, this week. I have hardly been on GP at all. I have been on the beach most all week, and running around town.
Ill paste my moped story in here... LOL
Jonathan...I wrecked Candi's moped...I didnt damage it...but yeah.
Here is what I posted this morning when I got up.... (friday morning)
Re-posted for Jonathan, Justin, Jennie, Mom, Dad, Giggles and Trisha, and those who dont read the sharing thread.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had a Moped accident yesterday. LOL
I am fine. Somewhat. I was making a right turn, and I didnt slow down enough, and I hopped the curb in the middle of the road and I rolled off the scooter. I didnt think I had a scratch on me, but after further investagation, I have a large bump on my head, my neck has a bad crick in it, a scratch under my eye, scratches on my upper arm, my wrist has a bruise on it and hurts when I touch it, might be sprained, I have a large bruse on my right thigh, a bruise on my knee and a long scratch on my right shin. I also ripped my jean skirt...a small rip, near my shin. My whole body is sore this morning, more sore on my right side than anywhere else, cause thats where I landed. I had a horrible nights sleep. Which is to say, I didnt get much sleep due to pain.
It could be much much worse, and I am thankful.
I wanna say to all the scooter/moped wannabe riders in here....they are FUN, and FAST, BUT....be real careful on those turns...they dont turn as easy as you would think, and you need to slow down more than you realize. I was going about 25-30 when I started to slow down, and I might have been going abot 15 when I actually made the turn...that doesnt seem like a whole lot, but it is when you are on it. I had already been riding it for awhile, and thought I knew what I was doing, but stuff happens.
So anyway, thats my story, and thats why I didnt get back online last night, I was too sore when I got home, it was after midnight, and I just went to bed. I do have this picture of me that was taken several hours BEFORE I decided to do my own stunts. :)
Yeah I know. I was laughing too...the worst part about it was...I was riding BEHIND Candi, she was on the motorcycle, and there was a truck with a stranger in it behind ME. He saw me, and he stopped, and he asked if I was ok....SOOOO EMBARASSING. Hurt my pride. LOL
I could not WAIT to get back to the house and tell Justin though, he laughed SOOO HARD!!
Just an FYI, Mel, that looks like a scooter not a moped. A moped can be peddled or use the motor.
Stevebert
Stevebert's little brother, Mike
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a50/Sisbert/MikeBike.jpg)
Then I have never seen a Moped I dont guess.
(http://www.thescooterguys.com/Puch%20Moped.jpg)
All I see is a red X.
I had to repost, it wasn't working. But as I was looking, it seems like they are calling some things mopeds that you don't peddle now. Mo used to stand for motor and ped stood for peddle. And it meant you could do either. Go figure.
Oh wow. I would ride one of those...but if you could Mo...why would you Ped?
(http://img.alibaba.com/photo/100242436/Motorized_80cc_Bicycle_Moped_Motor_Bike_Gas_Engine_Kit.jpg)
Here's another kind that looks almost like a normal bike.
You would peddle to save gas, or if you ran out.
How funny.
Some people back home have them. They like them because they can get their exercise by peddling, then use the mo to get back up the hills to get back home. :laughhard:
I have never felt the way I did that day behind the pulpit, there was liberty and freedom in the Spirit. Melody, I want you to get a copy of the conference, i believe you'd get a lot out of it, even though it was for ministers and their wives, btw I am now a licensed minister with the ALJC
Hello! Just checking in :hi:
Been pretty busy here. Everyone here has been rushing around to get ready for National Youth Convention. It's so neat that it's here in Indiana this year. Our teens are pumped! lol. There's been lots of last minute fund raising and such. lol. I will only be able to go down for one night :-( . But that's better than not at all. Other than that, been planning my grocery list for Thanksgiving, and wrapping some of the kids Christmas presents! It's my favourite time of year!
Oh PUKE. lol
You go ahead with your cheery Christmas self. :girltongue:
mel, who would you rather spend christmas w/ your newest niece that is only a thirty minute drive away or jennie and her family that's over a thousand miles away in the freezing snow ??? :updown:
I never said that I was going to Indiana...Justin will be here, so Jennie needs to come HERE. She said "Christmas with Jennie" she never said WHERE....
I think Grandma Gerri and Uncle Bill would LOVE to see Noah and Melody for Christmas.
:hypocrite:
:girltongue:
How is your wife feeling now that it's so close to baby time?
She's ready for it to come.. so many great things have happened in the last year. I can truly say that when you're in the PERFECT WILL of God, he will open all the doors, and give you all the things that your heart desires, so long as they're holy and perfect, and God is doing just that, giving us our heart's desires, I know that since I can live for God in the valley, I know will be able to live for Him on the mt. top.
Is Melody going to put up a Christmas tree with rubber ducky decorations?
I am!! :hyper:
I got all the stuff on sale last year, and I cant wait to get it up this year!!
:hyper: I can't wait to see it. Take lots of pics. Post them in the migrating duckie thread so they will be archived.
It will have to be un-archived and then re-archived. Cause I saw the other day that it made it in there finally.
But dont do it now...we can handle that later. When I get the tree up.
I can't wait to see!
Me either!!
Oriental Trading Co. has a LOT of Christmas duckies this year too!
Thats where I got mine on sale last year...same ones...I already looked. ;)
yea i tried to call today . . . if you haven't heard sissy has started dilating . . so we're expecting a baby any day now, if she has progressed by the 28th, they said she could have them induce labor, which is probably what she is going to do . . . on another note, we found out yesterday that we make way too much money for WIC. . . I was like what, apparently WIC is only for unmarried can't hold a job type people (no offense to anyone here, but if you could have seen someone of the people that are legible you'd understand my comment, people with fur coats riding on 20's , ugh . . . but the Lord is good, i don't know a lot of peers who make too much for WIC, but God has truly blessed us. We have more things now then most people have later on in life. God is great, i know this life is not about worldly possessions, but it sure does make this life a little easier knowing that you have blessed in the green area.
WIC is an off chute of Welfare. I've never seen women in fur coats using it. Just a bunch of Hispanics, many of which are illegals, I'm sure (Around here, that's the way it is).
Most people don't wear real fur coats anymore, anyway. They don't like paint dumped on them. And faux fur coats can be purchased for as little as $20. I gave one to the Goodwill once. I think they sold it for $10.
We had the same issue.
didn't know that SIS.. thanks...
We did not qualify for WIC either, and we were living on one income. I quit my job to be a stay at home mom and we were "over incomed" by like 3 dollars a month! woo wooo.........ughhh. I do feel proud in knowing that we fed our kids thousands of dollars worth of formula and kept them in diapers.......all with our own money and not from the government. We cut back to the "bare minimum" on stuff like the cell phone, cut off the internet, etc etc etc. We MADE it work because we wanted me to be home.
There are REAL legit people who need wic.........but it's the liars that make me the maddest. I know of MANY people who were MUCH richer than us (ha ha on rich) and they would only claim the "lowest" income spouse to qualify!! That would just gripe my gut!! Then I'd see them in their fancy cars and much nicer houses and I'd be more irritated. In a town our size, everyone knows EVERYONE's Business...........so the "higher ups" knew who were lying to get it and I'm just grateful that I chose not to lie...........
So, live as frugally as possible. Buy lots of stuff second hand (lots of babies have too many clothes to even WEAR once, let alone a second time) so stuff is just like new!!!!! I had some of the CUTEST gymboree stuff that I KNEW cost $40 bucks an ourfit or more and I got for $5 or less!!!
Don't be afraid to take used clothes from others. Things can usually be washed. I just would wead through and keep what I wanted and pass on the rest (or lay it to rest if it was unsuitable for passing on.)
Babies are expensive..............but when they give you that toothless grin at 2 AM.......there is NO amount of money on earth to buy the feeling that those smiles bring!!!!
Yeah, I hadn't heard of many policemen being rich. Even if they're the head honcho.
This society has turned most people into a
get it for free, I'm entitled, society. My dad's generation was really proud. They wouldn't accept anything without working for it. Even during the depression, they wouldn't take charity. And those who did were frowned upon.
We have come to expect something for nothing. If it says "Free Take One" most will take one handful.
I know what you mean about people needing it.. it's not that we need it, i mean formula is expensive, but my wife plans on breastfeeding (feels weird typing that in a singles thread, oh well, this is where some of my irl friends post) and we've been blessed with diapers galore. God has been extremely good to us this year. In our first year of marriage, we've bought a new car, i gotta boat, and we're having a baby, and more importantly we're not living beyond our means (this is started before the baby is born, lol). God has given both of us, two very well paying jobs, who pays 100% of our insurance, and co-pay are like thirty or forty dollars. God is good.
I am just scared that when she turns sixteen she's expecting a brand new car, then I will be happily to say "honey, neither me nor your mother owned a brand new car until after we were married." I hope that doesn't spurt her on to find a beau. Good Lord Help me.
Shoot! We weren't able to get a new car until we were married 20 years.
I am an RN and nursing my baby was VERY important to me...............but NOT as important to my babies!!!! LOL They refused!!!!
The formula we bought 6 years ago was 22.78 a can and it's higher now. We went through 2-3 cans a week. LOL OUR babies "ate" better than us!! We had bologna!! (well, it wasn't quite that bad!!)
Good luck on your Endeavours!! God Will bless you!!!
ENJOY!
This was Jasons wedding that I went to later that day.
I didnt get many of Jasons. Just a few cause Anastacia was late getting there, and they didnt do pics BEFORE the wedding, and we couldnt stay till they got done with them. So I didnt get many.
First time EVER I have seen Russell in a suit! AND he got a haircut! He said it was the shortest it has been in 15 years! AWESOME!
(http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h181/MelodyB99/Weddings/HPIM0937.jpg)
Anastacia cut his hair. He was sooo handsome, but NERVOUS!
(http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h181/MelodyB99/Weddings/HPIM0938.jpg)
See how short Russells hair is? WOW. (This pic was a set up of course.)
ALSO, I tried to get the red eyes out, but some of them didnt come out. Im sorry. :(
Photobucket will get the red eyes out. It's under the edit button, I believe. I've done it to several pics. It works great.
Who's Joline? Not the one who used to post here, she's already married. None of these people post, do they?
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a50/Sisbert/MelsPic.jpg)
Yes, actually they do.
Jolene IS the one that used to post here as DQPcola, she has never been married before now. She is one of the original Dingbats who this series of threads was started by/for. And Jason is also a member. He posted once upon a time a couple of years ago as Heavensent.
But I didnt post these pics for their benefit, I posted them for the benefit of the rest of the Dingbats who still post here sometimes, and know them and didnt get to come to the weddings. Like Jonathan, Jennie, Justin, Trisha, Mom and Dad.
Mary has also met Jolene, and knows most of the people in the pics.
Ill have to try the edit thing on PB. I forget that it has one too. I used the photo program on the computer.
Her wedding dress is gorgeous...
:thumbsup2:
Yay! The wedding pics! Awwe thank you for posting! How gorgeous!
Lady Melody,
Would you please pass along my congratulations to Lady Jo, and my wishes for a lifetime of happiness and the blessings of the Lord for her and her husband?
2 for CUTE!!
:bigcheese:
Aliyah said her first words today... let me tell you the story... so on thursday's we have men's prayer & fellowship at eight am at the church... well last night we had Bro. Bobby Lewis , Missionary to Ireland, any ways, back story , at one time he was the missionary to Germany, well we have this man who goes to our church, along with his wife and kids and so pastor decided that today we would meet a local restruaruant to eat breakfast... so i was getting Aliyah ready and I said "are you ready to go bye-bye" and she smiled at me and said "bye-bye".. I was spazing out.. called my wife, and was like she said her first words... well we went to breakfast this morning where she was very shy (which is unusual) and we started to leave, and I said "are you ready to go bye-bye" and she again said "bye-bye" now this kid isn't even five months old. she started crawling at four months... i can tell this kid will be smarter than her father
she'll be signing you into "Harper Lake Retirement Home" before you know it. :smirk2:
:laughat:
AWWW...This is my favorite baby thread... :D
??? :hi: :thumbsup2:
John :waving:
Any current, former, and/or homorary Dingbats still around?
John :waving:
ME!!
And I think thats it.
Mom doesnt have internet anymore. Justin and Jonathan dont come around here much. Trisha has a new life. Jolene is Married. Rissa also has a life and doesnt show here. Giggles is in NC and I dont chat with her much either. Jennie has THREE younguns now, and i can BARELY catch her on the phone.
So I guess thats just it.
Who are we missing?
Hey! You told me I was an honorary dingbat, and I'm still around! :pound: Mel
:D
:beret:
I was told I was an an honorary dingbat
Rut row.
I think you missed Sis Mom, too. ;)
But we know she's not around anymore, either.
*pretends to be mad at Mel, just so's she has an excuse to :pound: somebody* :hypocrite:
:beret:
:pound: s Mel, just in case she thinks about taking Ruby up on the pounding option
and so Mel can have an excuse to :pound: someone else
:hypocrite:
WAIT!!! I think *I* was considered an honorary dingbat at one time, as well!!!!!
:pound: s Mel for real, just cuz.
:bigcheese:
Lady Melody,
How could you forget that I was made an honrary dingbat. That was after I had come in here and moderated for a bit, as we had some dingbats interacting online in ways that we weren't quite used to here! I recall even having nuked one or two dingbat threads. There were a lot more of you 'native' dingbats in those days, though. You do a fine job of carrying on their tradition, however!
Even though you forgot me, I won't pound you...I'll just misquote you! :P
Mom was the very first one I mentioned.
And in my defense, I wasn't really talking about the HONORARY Dingbats. Just the missing ones.
(Does THAT get me off the hook?)
ummm..._maybe_ :P
I had to go back and read twice, then I finally saw it. For some reason I was thinking YOUR mom.
Ummmm NO.
This is my "safe place".
My Mom can't work her camera, much less get on the internet and follow me.
I like it that way. :bigcheese:
*giggles* ........for no reason at all, mind you. ;)
And btw, Sir John might be nice enough to let you off the hook, but I won't! :P
:beret:
Me neither. :bigcheese:
Am I off the hook yet?
Hah!
I just read this entire thread...I miss me some Dingbats.
But...life is different now. WE are different. But I miss yall. :(
I might have asked this earlier, but how do you define a dingbat
Even though I'm an honorary Dingbat, I'll leave it to one of the Originals, Lady Melody, to go over that again, if she desires.
Actuallyl, I thin Melody gives the best answer on this one, especially since she was an "original" Dingbat.
But I'll try to satisfy your curiosity until she comes in with a more clear answer.
The Dingbats were originally a group of people who met up in Pensacola FL who found common ground when the "Ding" :idea: became a "visible ding". When the light started coming on for the whole group, they all began to have understanding of hidden meanings and inside jokes and all around goofiness, the ding was visible everywhere and they became the Dingbats.
The group decided to stay in touch via GP and here they are were. :-(
The Dingats were once thought to be a group of Floridians, but there was one in Texas and one in Indiana, then others wanted to be dingy...... er, ummmm, I mean, join the Dingbats, so now the Dingbats are from all over the states, and could become worldwide Dingbattiness. :silly:
Most of the Dingbats know each other in person, but many of them no longer post here and others have been adopted or didn't want to be adopted and became honorary Dingbats (truthfully, I think they are in Dingbat denial). So the commonality between the Dingbats? That remains to be the unanswered question. :biglaugh: Maybe Melody can help there. :freaky2:
Ok..the Dingbats...
Yeah, in Aug of 2004, Justin and I went to Pensacola and met up with some friends of ours and went to Singles conference. We had a blast! And I took like 4 hours worth of hilarious video! It was awesome! During the course of the weekend, there were TONS of blonde moments provided by Jolene and Tiffany, and a few by my own self...when the light bulb did finally appear, we would shout "DING!" There are a few of those moments actually caught on the tape...
When the weekend was over, I convinced Jolene to join GP, and she did, Tiffany did too, but she fell by the wayside, and never posted after the first week. But Jolene was a staple here for quite awhile. She has since deserted us, but I will tell her to come back and make an appearance and post the picture of the 7 original Dingbats when I talk to her tomorrow. We made a thread here when we got back, and we called it the "Florida Dingbats" Thats how the name was born.
Since then, there have been many people here that we have convinced to become a Dingbat, but none have stuck around...Justin and I are the only remaining original ones that still post, with guest appearances by Jolene...like the one she will make tomorrow. :)
If I can ever get the Dingbat video on DVD, I will be posting the highlights of it on YouTube, and yall will have some awesome stuff to laugh at. :)
There yall go... TWO explainations. ;)
"You can actually taste the crust"
"I once dropped my phone in a pot of beans."
