I'm just glad to have a couple days off this weekend. Although Saturday will be interrupted by the church Christmas party. And sometime this weekend I need to get the flooring down in Chey's apartment. I laid half of it in a burst of energy, then slacked off. :pound:

Shew today...my work sistah was out so no home visits. But I did get to go get a battery for the work car. Otherwise I've been trapped here in the office. Bah.

Well, apparently GP has finally died. No one posting... Like the old country song :sing: I'm just a ghost in this house :sing:
Back at work. Hearing that Mini will get, and share without my approval, up to eight inches of snow here Thursday night/Friday morning. Well, I've heard 3 inches....5 inches...8 inches...truth of the matter is, no one knows we won't get anything or it'll be a blizzard.

Lou is sick. As in throwing up all night sick. I feel sorry for her and feel guilty. I don't want her sick, but the sound of retching turns my stomach and if I go to assist her- I'll join in. :pound:
And it is cold. Like 23. Not amused at all.

Good morning.  I hear that we will get snow too.  We shall see.  Ive seen this same song and dance routine enough that I will belive it when I see it.  I have heard anywhere from 1 to 11 inches.

Sorry to hear Lou is sick.

Back @work. We had that same system come through Saturday/Sunday/Monday. I didn't go to work yesterday because it wasn't worth it to me. :)

We have more snow coming this week as well. I don't mind snow.. just really didn't appreciate the ice. BUT - it IS very beautiful even tho it's made things treacherous with so many out of power. Ours only was out for about 7 hours - which about 4 of those were spent sleeping. I was laughing at myself because I had been SOO worried about us staying warm without power and I literally couldn't fall asleep because I was sweating. I had to shed layers in order to even fall asleep.. which is still no easy task since our dog would NOT share the bed well. Somehow i was the only one who lost real estate in bed.. LOL. Well, other than the cat, but she takes mine also, so.. in the end, it was still only me. LOL

We are supposed to get "winter mix" on Thursday. Not a fan of the cold.

I haven't had much time through the holidays to post.

Also noticed this last time GP was reactivated its came back up with a lot of glitches and dead end links. Used to be able to click "new" at the end of the thread title and get to the most recent posts. Now I have to click on the last page number and scroll down and down and down past stuff I already read to even get to new posts. Makes doing a quick read and reply on break nearly impossible.

Ive been going down memory lane a lot lately, and recently found a lot of my old blog spots from 2 decades ago. which brought up the memories of this place, and oh so many friends who I miss!

Thank you guys for helping shape my past, helping me stay on the right path at times, and being such an encouragement in the times of hard.

I really appreciate you guys. I'm not gonna name names cause there are too many of you! lol, and one day when the kids are older maybe I can make random day trips again without 20 potty breaks (or maybe by that time the potty breaks will be for me and not them) and we can come see some of you again!

CHEL!  So good to see you!

Also, I have proof that Roscoe likes winter.  I nearly fainted when he told me that.

Tis my day off. Would rather rest today but I got a doctor appointment to go to.  All the doctor appointments for diabetes is annoying.

My church recently installed a new door lock that allows entry through a smartphone app. My pastor was going to get me set up yesterday with a key to the church building but got to chatting after service and never got to it. He's one of those super outgoing sorts that doesn't know a stranger. Maybe tonight at praise team practice we'll get me set up with that key.

Ordering a bunch of canned beans and tomatoes from Walmart. I think chilli is on the menu for the next few days. This super cold weather is making a big pot of chilli sound good.

Roscoe

Hi Chel! Good to hear from you. My family misses yall!

Yes. In a moment of delireium I told Mini I love winter.
It started when as I was beginning to doze last night...I heard my phone *ding*.
Message was an official announcement that my office was closed today and tomorrow "out of an abundance of caution".
I was beside myself. I needed that time off.
Now. Ive just got back from town, taking chey for a snack run and going to check on the church.
We have gotten an inch of snow in less than an hour, our roads are slushing up and slick.
If it werent for the fact that my internet went out, id be in heaven
Home. No company. Excuse to not leave. Good food.
Ill grab a book and forget my troubles.

We're finally getting snow in northern Indiana

Roscoe

It finally stopped around 230 today here. 10 inches or so. And on the way back to pick Lou up I put her car in the ditch. First time in 20 years I've done that...let a wheel get over a tad into snow and away I went. Nice kid in a Jeep pulled me out, no damage.
Now it's refreezing and will be black ice tomorrow...

We finally got a few flurries but that's all.

My area got about 3 inches of snow-  Just enough to make the roads a sludgey mess. Snow came down fast enough to re recover a cleaned off car in 15-20 minutes. Had to break out the ice/snow scrapper multiple times.

I have key to the church building now so I can go in the evening and play the piano in the Kid Nation area. Would like to play the keyboard on the platform but that will require getting headphones  with a 1/4 size plug...not something I can buy at Walmart.

Lynx

If there was a radio shack still around you could buy a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter and use any old headphones. But I doubt the local Walmart will carry such a plug.

Just so you know, though, such adapters do exist. You don't have to buy a whole new pair of headphones.

Or if you want a cable instead of just a plug...

Both will work with any modern headphones you have lying about and plug into that keyboard's quarter inch port.

I have been on vacation since Friday afternoon a week ago. Today is the last day. It's about time... I'm starting to get restless again.

I have been pretending the world did not exist for eight days. It's nice to be a hermit for a week. Good break from the world. But I don't think I could do it for a lifestyle.

Oh yeah... It snowed here too, made everything pretty, but even our backroad was driveable by the next day at noon. That's about the perfect snow for here - pretty and nice, but gets out of the way soon and doesn't overstay its welcome.

Walmart actually used to have that adapter as part of a kit with an 18 foot aux cord and some other goodies. We quit carrying that kit a few months ago.  I decided to order an aux cable with the 1/4 on one end and 3.5 mm on the other to plug into my existing over the ear headphones

I'm back at my desk today for work. Cry cry.  :cry2:

Vacation was quite eventful.
We left Saturday 1/4 to drive to Indiana. Get about 6 hours in and hit Joplin MO, and a very loud flopping type sound occurs. We stop look at everything nothing seems out of place, no warning lights on dashboard. Call my Dad, he asks us things.. no clue. We search for a Honda. Closest one was Springfield, 30 mins out. We drive, no go. They closed at 12 that day and it was 2pm. Look for another and nobody is open. Soooooooooo we keep going. Get to parents house around 8pm finally.

Then the snow hit Sunday early AM. It snowed 8-10 inches. lol Fun times with fam.
We take car to Terre Haute Honda on Monday. It's a wheel bearing that was bad. $565 later it's fixed. (thanks to Mom lol). Then Tuesday...... the thing that goes like UNDER the car and covers all the guts down there is flopping on the road, like dragging.

Dad gets it back to the house. Jacks the car up and apparently it was barely hanging on. It had no bolts but one......so either the snow chunks did it or one of the stupid Hondas we've visited in the last 2 months didnt bolt it back right......Dad and hubbs off to auto store to get bolts. But one part is completely like stripped and has lost its hole (from it dragging across the road/snow I guess).

We keep seeing the impending doom that is the snow across central Texas/Oklahoma etc. So we leave early Wednesday to come home. No issues thank the LORD. Get home....and it snowed 6 inches Thursday. Soooo we brought it home with us LOL Sorry bobby..

Spent the rest of the weekend being bums on the couch after all the travel and issues and snow.
It was 50 degrees yesterday and most of the snow has melted.

Back to work today.  :great:

It was pretty yesterday and today. My chickens were happy. They've hardly been laying but in the last 2 days I got 9 eggs.

Roscoe

Shew. So. I feel like I've ran nonstop lately. Even with the office closed I was stuck dealing with taking Lou in, etc, so every day I was gone from the house at least part of the day. We survived with no water leaks at the church, and out of caution just had an evening service. So tired of weather and sickness- we were running 50's but with everything going on, down into the 20s and a handful. Seems like every service my phone blows up with members ill or something.
I go back to work tomorrow. So not a fan. :pound:
And I keep seeing and hearing that we have a big artic front coming through this week with extremely low temperatures....and more possible snow in the near future. What we have ain't gone! Over it. :pound:  Bring back my summer. Even triple digit temps...I have a/c in Rusty so I'm good. I just can't handle the cold.
