Quote from: The Purple Fuzzy on December 25, 2024, 06:55:48 AMRoscoe, I laughed when that woman on FB thought Lawanda was your daughter.
And the sad part- that woman was our county clerk who has known BOTH of us for 25 years and Chey since birth. :pound:
Made it through the holiday. Enjoying relaxing in the recliner....
Sad? It sounded like a big, albeit unintentional, compliment to Lawanda.

Unless you are taking it to mean you are really old...

Christmas came and went. Felt super off this year. I had a rough day of it mentally.
The overconsumption around Christmas is awful. Expectations are so hard to change.

My hubbs has his heart in the right place but he is terrible at gifts lol. I've slowly realized gift giving is one of my love languages, but gift receiving is DEF NOT.

What aggravates me with gifts is... I try to think of something a person will actually use or enjoy. I'm not hard to please, it doesn't have to be expensive, just pick something I LIKE.
it's really aggravating when I've already told you I don't WANT a thing and you get it anyway.

Lynx

I have done told people I know that I don't want anything for Christmas. I have too much junk already, and I can't think of anything I want. Like, I already have it. Anything I might have wanted for Christmas, I have done got.

Except the cheese ball. For some reason we have developed a tradition of Aunt Diane making me a cheese ball for Christmas. This is a tradition I approve of heartily.

But I now know what to do with any unwanted gifts. Take them to the auction house. They can sell them off for me, usually getting more money than I would have gotten myself on craigslist.

Gifts aren't a big thing around here. Chey got a couple of her main obsession- Juicy Couture purses and night clothes.
Lou and I- if we want something we get it through the year.
For some reason this year was hard on me. Even though she has been gone eight years and had been in a home not knowing anything for 15 years prior to that, I've really missed my mama this year. No idea why- normally I don't think about it.

In sharing, drove to Paragould/ Jonesboro area today and got a saint's LAST -thank God- load of belongings from when he moved down here. I'm stove up now.

Wait, what?

I know the pastor customarily drives elderly people to doctor appointments... for some reason... but I didn't know pastoral duties included being a moving service too.

Was this a good friend and you are doing him a personal favor? Or is this just normal being a pastor stuff?

In local news taza is really good chocolate and ginger chocolate is an amazing flavor combination that I don't know why more people are not doing.

I'd say a combination. He has definitely became a good friend- when someone is faithful, a prayer warrior, an encourager, and a neighbor all rolled into one, that tends to happen. Those folks are hard to find, and tend to grab a pastor's heart when they come around. Add to it that he has no transportation, little family in the area, and health issues, and pastor/ friend HAS to help. Hard to pigeonhole the trip...
Rainy today. Have my sermon ready for tomorrow, and treated myself to a new suit. I'm high rolling now- I got THREE of them in the closet now.
 And still prefer overalls. :laughhard:

Went to church. Preached. Not the sermon I intended. Came home. Thankful for three more days before I have to go back to work

I'm on vacation for a week. Going to Kentucky for New Year's with my Dad's fiancée. I'm also taking a month off of ProPresenter duties at church. Been a very stressful holiday season and my brain and body needs a break.

I have got to get this stuff out of this house...

Aunt Diane made a no bake chocolate cheesecake that was sugar-free. I don't do sugar free. But it tasted good enough that I did eat it anyway.

I got the recipe and whipped up a batch on my own yesterday. It's nothing but cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar and a melted chocolate bar.

I whipped it all up in a KitchenAid mixer and it is... Dangerously good. Even before it cooled in the fridge and set up, I ate too much.

I think I might take some in little containers to w*rk. Maybe some of my co-w*rkers will eat some of this stuff.

I'm okay with some people giving me cat-related items. LOL.. I don't want just ANY ole cat stuff tho.

Back @work today. Half day tomorrow and off Wednesday. Unfortunately I'm not getting to be off Thurs & Fri like I was last week, but I hope I survive, hahaha.

Had a great Christmas. I'm going to be a REAL Auntie sometime probably in the summer this next year. We are praying for our SIL to have a perfectly healthy pregnancy. I personally wouldn't have told anyone this early, but we are claiming our sweet little angel in Jesus name. We rejoice with her in this beautiful bouncing baby news.  I was also able to spend 25th-29th with my family in Arkansas. Jeremy met us at Boomland in Charleston MO to pick me back up. He started feeling icky on the 25th and finally went to the VA ER on Saturday night. He has Flu A and was just a few days away from pneumonia. Glad he finally listened to his body even though his wife knew long ahead that he needed to go, LOL. Don't we always? LOLOL.

Christmas Eve turned out pretty well. We "kidnapped" Grandma Duty (husband's paternal grandmother) from her rehab facility so that we could all party for a few hours. I don't remember if I posted about it, but she had a stroke a week or so ago. She had another scare this weekend but God has touched her and she's about to go back to rehab after getting emergency procedure to look for GI bleeding. We are hoping she can soon come home, especially since her birthday is Wednesday. She's not your typical older grandmother. She mostly consumes sugar and soda, never any water, haha. The doctors have NOT been happy about this and the no water news about blew my mind. No one her age I know drinks/eats like that, haha.

I'm doing a stretch on the couch sleeping so that hopefully I keep the flu away from me. I have SO much to do the next 30 days and I don't have time to be sick. Year-end blah. LOL.

Tabby (our cat) was excited to see me. She slept on the couch with me last night. I did miss her.

Dashing in to see if I am the last poster of the year 2024.........
Painted Chey's apartment bedroom and put down about half of the flooring today in addition to other things.

I'm sure Cheyenne will be happy to have it finished.

I'm not trying to brag or anything, but... I think I have enough money to live out the rest of the year comfortably.

First post of 2025!! lol  :waving:

We went to bed about 10pm. I set down my phone around 11:15pm. And then we were rudely awakened around 2am with fireworks in the neighbors but they sounded like gunshots. I sat up so fast. I hate fireworks. My cats were so concerned.

Happy New Year i guess!!  :noo:

6 hour road trip yesterday to Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. My back is telling me off and reminding me why I don't do road trips anymore.

I haven't posted since last year.  :ugly:

I don't want to go back to work tomorrow.  Church is doing a 3 day fast starting tomorrow, so the weight loss should be nice...lol

Busy few weeks ahead.  I am not sure I am looking forward to it.

Good Morning. Back at work, somewhat recharged from my vacation. The same could not be said for my work car's battery. Despite battery tender and my very powerful battery charger it had less than 2 volts this morning. It be dead-dead. Less energy than me in the mornings.
It's colder than Mini's heart out...

Back at work.

I haven't taught a Sunday School lesson in a month. If I had my choice, I wouldn't again. That month off spoiled me. I love the kids, honestly... it's just a lot this month and especially hard coming back t everything from our "holiday stupor" we've all been in for the last two months, haha. I know I'll get back in the swing of things soon.

Where was this weather last week?

Christmas felt like October!

And in other news, my vacation starts tomorrow as soon as I get off w*rk. I'm going to spend a week and 2 days pretending the world does not exist.
