Mawning.
Back at work. Got my FB Christmas decor up- Scrooge McDuck as Scrooge and Sir Grinch as my profile picture.
As much as I love the reason for the season, I'll be honest, I AM the grinch, pre heart change because it always feels like too much. I feel obligated to do presents and cards...and I really ain't like that. I love folks, but I try to show them daily, not one time a year. And cards, etc- I'm notorious for not buying them or for finding them waaaay after Christmas.
One old lady in our office left me a little tin of Christmas Candy on my desk Monday while I was off. I saw her ONE time Tuesday cause I was busy, and sadly, I didn't say thank you- it really didn't cross my mind because I was running none stop. Yesterday I was in another office. This morning, she cornered me in front of another staff member, demanded if I had gotten her gift, and indicated that she "just was making sure" pointedly indicating I had not thanked her and kissed her ring over it.
I thanked her and apologized, but I'm not sure she was having any of it. "You saw me Tuesday"
Sheesh. If you gonna get bent about me being busy, keep ya five pieces of stale Christmas candy and 4 Hersey's kisses.
And it's not like she doesn't know me. We've worked together EIGHT years. She KNOWS I have the attention span of a gnat and don't do real well with social niceties.  :pound:
I'm wrong though. I'll admit it. And I will 100% ROCK the Grinch title/outfit. :laughhard:

If that bugged her, she did not give you that candy for the right reason. Poor old lady. I would have been tempted to pat her on the head and ask if everything is okay at home. I would not have done it, but I would have been tempted.

Petty Janelle would bring her a box of Midol or Pamprin, but that's probably being gender-ist. I can't stand when people act hateful over gifts.. especially since it's SUPPOSED to be more fun to give than receive. I get awkward when people say thank you for things.. just let me see you enjoy it and I'll be fine. LOL

I'm not near as subtle.  :laughhard:  My old man wanted to flare up and call her names, and then some. I was aided by Him putting His hand over my mouth- I may have bit Him, Sorry God- and by the fact that one of our receptionist is a young lady in our church, who doesn't need to see Pastor who she's called "Uncle Bobby" all of her life, be the evil man that I killed years ago. :laughhard:

I'm still here. Just nothing much worth reporting.

Not that this is a BAD thing. I like calm and quiet. Just that it doesn't make for a very interesting post.

This will be a quiet Christmas. Dad won't make it down from Kentucky for Christmas this year. Uncle Bren and Aunt Lisa will be out. It will only be me, Uncle Fred, Aunt Lucy, Aunt Diane and Uncle Stanley...

Ah yes, Uncle Stanley...

Okay so it won't be all THAT quiet. Good ole Stanley makes up for a lot.

Speaking of relatives though, Uncle Fred said something last Saturday at breakfast that I will have to remember. I may need to use it if I follow the family tradition of diabetes.

We were discussing a peanut butter pancake this local diner makes, with peanut butter chips cooked into it. "It sounds great, but if I ate one we'd have to chase my blood sugar with a butterfly net."

Good morning everyone.

I was dreaming of a white Christmas this year.  Headed to Minnesota... unfortunately, it looks like it will be a brown Christmas up there.

I pray for one great snow this year.  lol

The Purple Fuzzy

It's been in the 70s here the last couple of days. Not that I'm complaining. It just doesn't seem like December.

Lynx

It's supposed to get on back down there here directly.

Good morning. Been busy here this past few days. The flooding put MORE water on the NEW carpet. So much for having "fixed the leak". Got professionals coming in to try to determine how to fix. Fortunately we got it off the new carpet and it doesn't appear to have damaged it- and it was a smaller spot so there is that.
Secular job is whipping my tail. Busy as what.
Thankful we are nearly to Christmas although it is cool and depressing. Not a fan of gray skies. But at least I have time off coming....and I am looking forward to it.

So tired.

Need to wrap presents this weekend.

We're not really sure what is going to happen for us for Christmas Eve this year. Normally we go to his grandma's house and do the whole thing with that side of the family. Grandma had a stroke on Friday sometime and has been in the hospital doing antibiotics for a UTI and just started her therapy today. She's better, but she has to get strong enough to walk on her own before they'll let her out. I'm hoping she will be out by then, but the grandkids aren't as sure.

Nevertheless - We are headed to Arkansas at least on Christmas day! I'll stay there until Sunday the 29th. Then my parents are going to drive and meet Jeremy halfway to exchange custody. I'm glad I'll get to spend some time with my brother & SIL. They flew in yesterday from CA. Jeremy & Athena will have a short visit and return in the same day unless something changes, but I know my family appreciates the sacrifice since they don't get to see him often.

Backseat Radio

Been way too busy with retail holiday shopping mania to have energy to post here.  We had 3 deliveries dumped on us in 2 days. Stayed from 6:09 till almost 5:30 Tuesday trying to help us get caught up on freight. Was only scheduled 7 - 2 that day.

Went to a ladies Christmas dinner with my Dad's fiancée. The party said to bring an ornament for gift exchange so she taught me how to make ornaments. she and I and my dad also decorated our Christmas tree while she was here. My dad is in Kentucky this weekend doing Christmas party at her church.

My church is having a candlelight service Christmas evening. This will be my first year doing ProPresenter for the candlelight service. Our media team leader usually does it but he'll be on vacation.

MsJennJenn

We finally got our car back. And so far so good. *knock on wood*
We're having a quiet Christmas at home the two of us. And all the kitties.

Then we're heading to Indiana on Jan 4th for Christmas with my fam.

Well...got my day interrupted.  I headed to Russellville to Harbor Freight to buy a paint sprayer. Got it bought, numerous side conversations about Rusty as I'd taken him- by the way his new heater will blister the paint and thaw out frozen mammoths on high- and then on the way back, the call. Sis Reed, my 94-year-old saint was going to the hospital by ambulance. I rushed hope, changed out of the stained overalls into something a tad better suited for a hospital visit, and off to the ER in Conway fearing the worst. She was spry as ever. Nothing but general annoyances. I laughed when she told the nurse that she'd "sign them papers, but if'n they is papers to put me in a nursing home, I'm finding a gun and shooting you". I winced- anyone else they'd have called a swat team in. She- they smiled, patted her hand and assured her they weren't doing that. She returned to the conversation about her parents receiving the Holy Ghost. This lady will be 95 in four days....and remembers things from her childhood like they were yesterday and remembers yesterday as well. She is harder of hearing now and no longer walks for fear of falling- she has her chair- but mentally I'd not challenge her to a battle of wits or a memory contest. She would win; I have no doubt.
Then I made the mistake of telling Lou I was in Conway. "Hey, run by Sam's club and get.." Sam's Club is NOT where any sane person goes this time of year. I thought I was gonna have to shoot my way out. :laughhard:

Yup, I went in Sam's yesterday, after saying I'd wait till after Christmas. Very busy.

Morning. Cool rainy dreary. I've got pinto beans soaking. Whether they will be my patented delicious version of pinto beans with ham hocks or ingredients for my chili remains to be seen. Other than this I have zero intent to do much if anything today.

Pinto beans are good in white chili, with chicken. Just my personal opinion.
