Adina said molasses maple syrup was supposed to be better than many other sweeteners for some reason... something about not spiking blood sugar or something.

Lynx

From personal experience I can attest that molasses does in fact spike the blood sugar.  It sure is good though. :D

For foods rich in potassium, I hear watermelon has more potassium per ounce than bananas.  Don't bank on it though, it's just something I heard somewhere.

I'm so wrong, I meant maple syrup.  Totally got the wrong product.  Sorry.

Isaac- I hate to disagree, but to me anything lower than 70 degrees is cold.
And I'm about ready to go teach Bible Study. Kinda bummed out- I would've liked to have made an appearance at Joel's funeral today, not because we were best friends, but for the family. Sadly, the funeral was at 11:00 today, and I had to work. I hope Bro and Sis Sorrells know that I have been praying for them. :sadbounce:

I love maple syrup. I could drink maple syrup straight, by the glass. And no, I'm not even kidding.

Doing some light reading on foods rich in potassium, and molasses.

There's a Chicken stew recipe that calls for squash and parsley, that you could add kale or spinach to, plus potatoes.

In Burkina Faso, West Africa, the gov't sells potassium salts and the people put it in everything.

Grade B is the highest quality of maple syrup you can get unless you sap your own tree.  Grade B retains the most nutrients whereas Grade A, like honey, is processed so much, it's just as bad as white sugar.  Regardless if it's "all natural" or "organic."

The Sorrels are sweet folks. I'm out of the loop on what's going on with their family.

Melody

Sorry Roscoe.  :(

I probably mentioned the weird song that is a prayer to a Hindu idol Vishnu Andrew's choir is working on.  And that Andrew respectfully declined to participate in that song.  Also, passive aggressively his teachers asked if he would instead play percussion during the song, and Andrew respectfully declined again.  Well, apparently they didn't know the song well enough yet to sing it at last night's concert. :)  They still plan to sing it at some point...

Lynx

Maybe they should have asked Vishnu's permission first.  She (he?) got offended that they were doing the song without permission so she made everything go wrong.  Yeah...

Their son, Joel, who was 38, went pheasant hunting with his dad last week. When they got home, he told his dad that he was going to run over to his house (across the street from his parents') and get cleaned up and come back over. When he didn't come back over, they got worried, as he has had seizure issues for the past 16 years. (He'd had a brain abscess that nearly killed him when he was 22) When he didn't answer the phone, they went over to check on him and found that he'd apparently had a seizure and fell while getting in the bathtub, striking his head. He had been dead for a bit when they found him.
He was a heckuva talented musician and singer, and an all around good guy. I'm crushed for his parents, and his wife of six years, to say nothing of the two sweet babies he left behind. They say the service was awesome, with a strong presence of God....had over a thousand people at the visitation and somewhere around 400+ at the funeral.

Allan and I went fishin again yesterday and actually caught fish!! It was amazing! Id throw my line, get a bite and reel in! I caught 12, he caught 5 and this man on a boat gave us two large speckled trout.

I cleaned all of them today, and got them in the freezer. Im about to go make sandwiches and drinks, and we are headed out again when he gets off work at 1. I cant wait! Fishing is great fun when you are catching some!
Have you slapped that one dude from Indiana with a pie in the face today?

Melody

I'm amazed at the mercy of God afresh today.

I have a friend that is praying for healing from diabetes.  She doesn't acknowledge any actual sense to eating healthy. But you know, I have no doubt God will heal her.  I won't be surprised if she has it again in a few years time either.  Doesn't discount God's healing.  How gracious is He to our ignorance. Eating right is simple, we just don't like it cause we are carnal.

And it doesn't matter the subject. The principle is the same.  Repenting and asking God to help us with the sin we continue to facilitate. AND God does!  That's what blows my mind.  Even if we refuse to acknowledge the high places that facilitate unGodliness.

Crazy. God is immensely gracious.

Roscoe

Good morning, all... Up and moving. Fixin' to take Chey to school, maybe do a flea market crawl since Lou and I are both off today...

I'm at work.  Just had a bunch of school kids come sing for us.

Melody

Ice storm just came through and there is an early out for schools.  Which I don't understand because it's supposed to get up into the 30's today which will easily melt everything, probably before school would normally be out. But lo, people can't drive when it's slick apparently.  Everyone should've taught how to drive in snow and ice before they get their license. Lol

Banana bread is out of the oven.

I most DEF agree on learning how to drive on snow/ice. The ice storm here last week was TERRIBLE. Ugh.

Also - I don't banana like bread. But ohhhhh my Mom makes the BEST strawberry bread. It's delicious!

Chel makes good apple bread, but her sweet potato bread is even better. Especially with some of her homemade cream cheese icing. :fork:

Don't think I've had either of those. I've had zucchini bread though. It's GOOD.

I'd love to try apple bread. I don't think I've had that.

Idk how my banana bread measures up but I make it like zucchini bread. I do NOT use brown bananas or a bunch of spices. I use honey instead of sugar but that barely changes the taste really.

The most epic one of the month?  This happens so often you can rate it by the month?

One, of those days I wish I had a million dollars but not for me...

You ever have days likes that? You see so many needs you want to help with that your own just kind of disappear.

If you have an extra million laying around call me I have a list this morning and God will bless ya.

Today it would go to some elder ministers, make the dream of a missionary of 46 years come true, and take care of a family that's lost it all.

I might be broke but oh well...
