What's bleh?  It IS a pretty nice day out.

In other news, if you have ever wanted to try microwaving a cheesecake... don't.  I tried it last night and the result was not encouraging.  It tastes good enough to eat, but vastly inferior to a real, oven baked cheesecake.

The dog and cat liked the crunchy outside part though.  Which is good, because I didn't.  They can have it.

It is PURPLE. I took a pic and I'll post it to prove it. :P

Our service was amazing today! We implemented the new format and it went exactly like we wanted! It was great! Plus we had an awesome move of God!!

We all went to the catfish place and had a good lunch. Now I'm at home and my brother and his family are on their way home. I think it's time for a nap.

KIMBER. Thanks for the candle...I took it out of the box and now my room smells like chocolate. :yum:

If anything, it's lavender.

How many meetings did it take to formulate the new format?

MelodyB

Lets see...the one where we discussed MAYBE changing it up, then Wes had to meet with bro Ramsey, then innovate met and discussed it again, then we had to meet with Bro Ron, the Music Minister so he could get on board, then Wes met with Bro R again, then we presented it to the staff, and then we met again with the chorale to explain how it would all pan out. Soooo how many is that? Not to mention how many other times we "met" and talked about the changes over the last month a a half...informally.

NOT KIDDING. Kimber can vouch for me. Lol

You're welcome, glad you liked it, thanks for my.... um well... you didn't even give me a hug, oh well, that's how we roll you can get me next time.

For the record I have NO IDEA what she's talking about. Mel made the change sound easy, we also met after every service for practice and additional practices on saturday. So keep adding meetings sister girl, cause you missed some.

Haha! Yeah. I was gonna hug you, but Ann swooped in and gave you a gift and I got distracted by my kids...you know me, I have a short attention spa...oh look! A moth...

And as for the meetings and all, I blanketed all the practices and meetings in the thing I said about the informal meetings where we discussed changing. I didn't want to tell him how much we REALLY talked about it and how much effort it took to change these people! Haha. ;)

Basically having the service pre-planned, instead of no one knowing what song to do next, and just going by feelings and stuff, we have a schedule and try to stick to it. And not having a set worship leader, but everyone on the platform taking ownership of the worship, and everything flowing together seamlessly to portray one whole message from start to finish instead of lots of scrambled mini messages throughout.

Of course, if the spirit moves and changes the direction of the service, the schedule for that day goes out the window, and that's always welcome, but it was nice to know exactly what we were to do today instead of looking around and wasting time figuring stuff out on the fly.

Usually in our church the pastor or whomever is leading the service will ask someone right before service "Would you sing tonight?"  Unless something is already planned, like a sign team song they've been practicing for tonight or something.

Our services are pretty structured like that already. Unless the spirit moves, or Pastor is in a strange mood, or it's a special service.

Praise singers always practice 15 till prayer. Pray for 30 mins. Then we gather in Pastors office (connects to prayer room) for pre-service prayer for platform people....then we all file out single file onto the platform...that's the indication for the congregation to stand, someone reads scriptures, then we begin the song service....typically 3 songs, an offering song, then special singing...if any....then Pastor gets up to preach!

That's a typical service schedule for us. lol The only variation to Sunday night is that we start the service off as a meet and greet....everyone goes crazy talking to everyone they can....then the scripture reading starts and we do 2 praise songs, offering, then the choir sings...unless God moves, then sometimes the place blows up!

Oooh, you have bass traps on the walls.  :D

Those are sound thingies...helps with the sound..lol
Yeah, sound thingies.  Specifically, bass traps.  Trap the bass notes so they don't reverberate off reflective walls and muddy the audio in that space.
