After years of having a USB stick that gives one computer internet, I finally have a wireless unit that multiple people can use! And it still works anywhere my USB stick would, that is anywhere there was an AT&T signal.
Before today, any visitor who wanted to connect to the internet would have to either borrow my computer or borrow the USB stick and install a driver. Much hassle, but then I never got many visitors.
I made a lemon pie.
Come a little closer and say that. I dare you... :fork:

It's still really cold over here.

I'm not a lady, but happy birthday anyway Lady Heather.
Of course, being a guy, my first thought was "What kind of syrup was there?" Or jam, or buckwheat honey, or...
Im ready to have some church...
Cat napped.
Went to church at Sanders. Then from there went to church at Soul's Harbor.
Home.
Yadda yadda.
Oh my. W.Huntley tore it up and ran me over.. lol Is that how you all say it? Such good stuff.
Praise be, our DF is over. Is that ok to have a fast ending be bitter sweet? lol I about ate a whole cow today. Actually I had 2 chicken legs, tea, piece of a roll, rasberry lemonade, 2 bites of ice cream, coffee with cream and sugar. After all of the salad, green beans and roasted brussel sprouts.
Which by the way: We hated brussel sprouts. I pretty much traumatized us all by making them a time or two a few years ago. Dissatisfied with that and coming across a recipe that calls for roasting them with bacon, pepper and garlic, I decided to try them again. The recipe said that over cooking them causes bitterness. That got my attention. I'm sure I overcooked them, so I needed to give it another shot. Only this time, fresh instead of frozen.
First I just ate a raw one. What is the stinking big deal? They tasted like cabbage. Which we love with bacon! So I roast them and sure enough. I have a new food I like. The family said they weren't a new favorite but we should eat them periodically cause they were good. I'm so glad for whatever bit of tenacity the Lord gave me. I'm glad we tried them again, a new way. :)
You could put bacon on a turd and it wouldn't be too awful bad.
:o
I wouldn't go that far.
I can't see or hear the word "far" now without thinking "Lord Jesus it's a fire." Lol

It's true.
If it has an "-ire" sound at the end, it becomes "-arr." If it has a "-ow" sound at the end it becomes "-er." (as in the word 'window')
It can depend on the context and sentence structure as to how it comes out, but that is my natural way of speech.
And "-oil" becomes "-orl."

I'll just let the wonder gnaw away at her soul. :hypocrite:
I just woke from a bizarre dream. :freaky:
It started out being at a church, or something to that effect.... And I went out into the foyer area for something. Kinda had to do with some woman with a kid that was out in the hall or some such.... That part was fuzzy and weird. But the thing about this part that was more specific was I had these funky shoes on. Like dress shoes that were like red and black and white or some craziness. And I had had them off, and when I kept trying to put them back on, the back of the left one was just not fitting right. My foot wouldn't go down in it right, and it was crumpled up, it was just weird.
I end up going out into this hallway and the details of people coming and going are fuzzy here again, but this stinkin' shoe just ain't fittin' when I'm trying to get it on and walk in it still. And I think basically maybe then at this point I also needed to go to the bathroom. So I step into the men's room, which is this big crazy looking long room, and there is this other guy that has went in there ahead of me and I think he's all talking and carrying on or something. And I stop near the door and dig around at this shoe again, and discover that there is a piece of wood, wedge type doorstop under the back of the insole. And I think to myself how that must've got under there when I had my shoe off by a door earlier, yadda yadda. Anyways, I take that out and my shoe is okay now.
So then I had to go to the bathroom, and at this point the room had kind of changed and it's not as big as it was before. But there's like 4 urinals and a couple of them are blocked off and the 2 open ones are like decorated up with this weird inexplicable crud. lol So I am attempting to go to the bathroom and so is this other guy at the two open ones.... I don't know if it was the same guy from before or not, that's a bit fuzzy.
But anyways, as I am attempting to go to the bathroom, this little old lady walks in, and she turns around like to not look at us, and I'm like, Get out of here! And she rifles through her bag and pulls out a couple folded papers, and she comes up to the other guy and lays a paper up on top of the urinal and says whatever to him about it, and then is like peeping tom-ing at him and I am feeling quite incredulous at her, and then she does the same thing to me and I told her I didn't want her stupid paper and yadda yadda.
So then I follow her out of the room after that about to put a beat down on her, giving her the what for and pushed her from behind and whatever and she's just making her way out. And at this point it's like we are in a college dorm type setting. And I pick up this emergency phone on the wall because I wanted to report her to security. Well nobody answers, the phone just makes this weird beeping noise, but in a few a bunch of college kids, some boys and girls that are like like students in charge or whatever show up, but they're like all incredulous that I didn't have an emergency but I was telling them and pointing out the pervy old lady. And how that that paper she left us had something to do with something she was wanting, the details are fuzzy, but it's kind of like almost this drug or some kind of stuff she was trying to get which had this inexplicable tie to something else in the plot.
So then I end up back in a room with some other kids, not sure if it was any of the same ones as showed up on the "rescue squad" or not, but I am trying to rehearse to them what all had just transpired. And I'm going through the story and another guy is chiming in, it's kinda like he is the other guy that was using the bathroom, but that's a bit fuzzy as well. And he is talking about frying chicken and the grease he used and some kind of crazy stuff that didn't pertain to my harrowing tale of violation. lol
Then Sis. Killmon and Joy McGarr come in, and I'm finishing telling the story and telling them I'll explain the first part that they missed in a minute.
And then I woke up.
And I needed to pee. And there was an infomercial on TV about a convection cooktop...which is probably where I subconsciously picked up the part about frying stuff and grease that worked itself into the storyline.
The end.
:smirk2:
Wow...
And there, folks, is a glimpse into the workings of a small but truly warped mind... :P
Cheesehead, you might not be a total yankee....anybody that pronounces "window" as "winder" is aight wit me.....
And Lord, I am back at work. Had a massive headache most of the day yesterday and went directly to church from work, cause if I'd gone home, I'd never have left. Was made to feel even worse when I discovered 1) Bro Papa felt like crud and 2) he claimed he'd texted me about preaching Sunday night, a text I never got because of AT&T and their wonderful service... and 3) All notes, ect. I had were at home. He preached an awesome message he had laying around about the "thief of prayer"...basically how the devil will steal any prayer time you have scheduled if you let him.. good message. And thank God the headache is absent this morning.
I texted four folks a great quote I found, and my phone decided I was sending way to many texts and shut down all text services. And I think Roscoe is ignoring me today... :ugly:
Wow. :o That was some dream.
Sounds like some of my crazy stuff.

Yes, they say we will have "severe weather" tomorrow.
Well, that's no fun.
My sister & I were talking last week about entering a location. As a marine she automatically identifies ecape routes & potential.things to use for a weapon. We laughed cause i said at the slightest bit of tornado weather, we both identify cover & safe spots along the road we could get quickly to. We thought it might be a midwest thing but you guys probably do that too?
Not really. We usually just grab our cell phones and video tornados.
*nods
Lol :thumbsup2:
I've never even seen a tornado, and that's not fair because people keep saying this is Tornado Alley...

I've never heard that, only that KS & OK are.

Well whenever I list all the things I like about living here in Tennessee people say "Yeah, but you have to deal with tornadoes." Nope, never seen one.

A few. I lived through one. Destroyed my town. Ill never forget it, and I was only 6 or so at the time.
Went and cleaned with my sister.
Let me tell you all a story 'bout a Harper Valley widowed wife.....
Tornados are awesome, wild, and scary....We get them through here frequently, but fortunantly I haven't been hit personally.A couple years ago we had one come through a mile or so west of us... I'm a bit of a storm nut, so I'm usually out watching them. Very beautiful. They do strange things though.
I had a good friend who I worked with years ago whose house was hit in the big storms of '96,'97?-I think- in Beebe. Tornado took the roof off of his house, picked up his new Corvette and broke it in two, leaving half of it three blocks away. The rest of it he never saw again. The wild part- he had a 1950's Harley he'd completely restored parked next to the Corvette, not five feet away. It didn't so much as scratch the bike. Didn't even knock it over. It picked up his beat up Chevelle and carried it a block away and set it down. No damage at all... Weird.
And in sharing- I am dreading tomorrow. Jeb Bush, former Florida Governor is going to be at the Capitol, with about a thousand close friends. Yeah, I'm gonna have fun. :smirk2:
I survived my birthday and it was excellent! Let's hope the decade in my 20's of crappy birthdays is officially over.
Work today was interesting. Got to work in the back half the day because the other Heather called in. 1 of my favorite patients was put down though. She was a 13 year old lab with a GIANT tumor. Also 1 of our other long time patients [also 13 year old lab] we found lymphoma during an ultrasound :( They are gonna come back in Wednesday to let her go.
I'm glad this year was a much better birthday, Heather! :thumbsup2:
Got a bunch of stuff cleaned out of the garage today. You'd almost think it was spring or something. But it's not. 'Cause it was FREEZING in the garage, and I won't be surprised if we get snow this week. *lol*

If you watch closely, it's good. We CVS'ians gripe cus people abuse it. Lol but for the most part it's good.
I buy the Gillette Men's 5-blade razor cartridges. They're just what I use. And today I bought some.
Price: $16.79
Manufactures coupon for $10 off
CVS coupon for $3 off $10 shaving needs
Employee discount: 3.36
Total price I paid: $0.47
Plus I got $5 extra bucks (store credit basically for future purchases) back from it. So basically CVS paid me for them haha
If you buy the Sunday paper for the coupons, our weekly ad sales usually coincide with the coupons in the paper.
Yikes! I have this sudden feeling of walking in the front door of my home to find that someone has sold 75% of the furniture in a garage sale, and hugely rearranged the bit that's left. :o Wow.
I hope it snows tomorrow. Here. And also in Indiana. At Cheesy's house. :hypocrite:

Today at work started out with a bang, I was running flat-out just to keep up for about the first hour... then the rest of the day was easy. And there I was, already set at a high speed, with suddenly not enough to do. No fair!
Bah. Back at work. The storms that came through dumped a ton of water on us, but nothing major.. Got a phone call from a brother on the way home last night that greatly uplifted and blessed me. Still have a bit of nagging headache/sinus pressure this morning, but I don't feel like you need to shovel the dirt on top of me like I did yesterday evening.. :hi:
We're under a tornado watch til this afternoon. Supposed to be snowing by the weekend.
Got up and took B to work (his brakes are in need of repair), went ahead and worked out at the gym, and now I'm just eating breakfast in my car before work.
Our electricity went out for a while last night from the storms but thankfully came back after 30 minutes or so... and the internet service came back up with it. :bigcheese:
My old friend headache has returned. Brought his friend queasy stomach with him. :sadbounce:
I'll get the shovel then.....
Hope you're not getting what Bro Papa had
Bad storming here too.
Plumber was FINALLY here to fix our problem and of course it started storming an they had to leave. So maybe tomorrow. Blah.
Gotta go find something to eat for lunch. Maybe leftovers, maybe not.
This morning I woke up, then had a twinge in my nose that made me sneeze, and I sneed a million times, and my nose stopped up and I blew it a thousand times.... I still am blowing it every once in a while, but it't not as bad in that regard, but I still feel like something is crawling in my left nostril....it's ANNOYING....
Stay safe you guys!
Our beautiful day on Monday is a faded memory. It snowed this morning.
Oh well, we didn't get an inch I don't even think though. When ya can still see the grass, it barely even counts.
Mtg tonight at Andrew's school about selecting his classes for highschool. I feel a bit old... lol

We had some storming here last night. Fortunately it was after I was home from work. The town tornado siren went off twice, but I never heard of any twisters coming through. Power went out for a bit, but my laptop and my internet connection both have good batteries.
Please pray for a someone in my extended family. She lost her dad and husband within a week's time.

No twisters but now we are flooding again. 2nd time this month.
I wish Brandon would get off work. I'm bored sitting in the car waiting for him. I want to get home and make chicken tacos!!
Went to church at Columbus where James was preaching.
I dread work tomorrow.
Been here with mom at the hospital since 7:30. It is now almost midnight.
Same story. She is out of pain meds so she came to the hospital, knowing good and well all they will do is give her a shot and send her home without a prescription.
An EKG and a x-ray later and she is being sent home soon with nothing. Just like I knew. Blah. As soon as this guy comes and takes the line out and gives us release papers, we will go.
I have to be up again in 4 hours to tend to dad.
Such is my life.
You need to just find a crack dealer or something you can take her to.
Ugh. A guy at work left a tract on the table in the breakroom, with a devil (horns, tail and all) shooting arrows at the KJV. The basic synopsis of the tract was, the KJV is the only good translation, all others should be at least avoided, maybe burned. I asked him if he had read the tract before he put it out there. Yeah... I asked if he had done any research on the claims this tract made. Yeah...
So he started explaining why he believed this, and I found his "research" has some amazing facts. It seems the research he has done has been in only material provided by his church, and one of the "facts" is that every Bible version other than KJV was compiled from the Wescort and Hart manuscripts. I knew right away that was wrong, a simple google could shed light on it. Another featured "fact" is that the KJV is unique among all the translations in being free of errors. I mentioned two off the top of my head.
I just hope he doesn't run into any argumentative atheists. They would eat him for lunch. :-\
Wat two are you speaking of?
The KJV in one place refers to Jonah being swallowed by a whale, and in another it is referred to as a big fish, which can't be a whale because whales are mammals. Of course they didn't know whales weren't fish back then.
In Genesis 49:6 "...and in their self-will they digged down a wall." was a mistranslation. Every other translation I've read says "hamstrung an ox" or "hocked an ox." I can't type the differing Hebrew words here, but they look very similar.
Mind you, this does not mean we should disregard KJV as unreliable. Its doctrine is sound. But it does have a few little errors, and to deny it is to give ammunition to unbelievers, many of whom know more about the Bible's errors than we do because they've been looking for errors in it for years.
In other news, tomorrow I'm going to get a haircut and do a lot of shopping.
Finally home at 1:00am.

I have a little can of coco de leche, sweetened coconut creme, that I like to spread on a good thick slice of warmed sourdough bread. Grandma said "Oh I have a jar of that." No, that's coconut oil... don't try spreading that on bread, it ain't even close to the same.
My mom uses the coconut oil in place of butter on toast.
How does one hamstring an ox?
Going to work shortly.
Fuzzy: Yeah, but it doesn't taste anything like coconut creme. Speaking of which, coconut oil is the first ingredient in one of my favorite german chocolates, Ice Cube Chocolates.
Seth: About the same way you'd hamstring a horse I imagine. Cut the achilles tendon.
Hey mom, you are almost twice as blessed as you are smitten!
You must be blessing me. Now Seth will smite me more. ;)
Cheese is only 100 times more smitten than blessed... Lol
*giggle*
Any of you guys keep your church up to date with news from the foreign mission field? If so, what ways do you present the info?
Even Chel has accrued 10 smites... Alright, who's the rat been smiting Chel?
I yet live... Slept most of the day, feel a touch better now. Afraid to boast because I don't want it to return.... :waving:

Cheese, that was very kind of you to be so considerate about Little Bean. *nods wisely*
Mel......... *smh*......... I don't even know what to say to that one. I mean, there are plenty of choice things I'd like to say to your mom, but that probably wouldn't help matters any. I'm sorry, girlie. Sending you a *HUG*
And now that I have briefly posted, and both smitten and blessed with abandon, I may go read a book for a little while before bed. *grin*

We have a bulletin board with newsletters that some of the missionaries send out posted on it.... Most people don't ever really read through them that way though.
I'm good. There are lots of things I would like to say to her too. But sometimes it's best to just go with the flow and do whatever.
Using a homemade stovetop cleaner recipe I found on pinterest. Hope it works like it says.
If it does, let me know...
It does! Only took 15 mins!
Although, ours was pretty bad. We just got this stove from the fellowship hall and it was pretty bad when we got it, plus I've had a few accidents as well. Lol it worked pretty good, but I'm gonna do it once more. Maybe in the mornin.
So how did you make it?
*gives hugs to all the gals*

Yeah, we have a little binder on a table for people to look through but not many do. The first Sunday of each month, Nathan highlights a missionary we support and leads a corporate prayer about them. This month we are trying something new; putting an insert in the bulletin with 3 missionaries we support and their latest update which alludes to prayer needs, once a month. People don't give when it's out of sight, out of mind, and they don't know what's going on there. We're trying to think of new things to do. Eventually, we want to do project fundraisers a few times a year for missionaries. I am at a loss though of what else we could be doing though to rouse interest.
You guys do that don't you, Mel?

Oh dear, PF. Too bad you can't put all the b.rashes over your knee... lol
I am putting some of my grocery shopping off till Monday to utilize any possible coupons in the Sunday paper in conjunction with any CVS deals. Here we go!
Also going to get a Target savings card and a savers card for a small grocery store I go to. They were telling me, "If you spend $75/mo here, it will save you money." I pointed to my total and said, "That's what I spend nearly every week. I guess I better get one."

So how did you make it?
You just sprinkle (a lot) of baking soda on the surface of the stovetop. Then put some really hot hot water in the sink with dish soap, soak a small towel in it, wring it out a little, not a lot, you want it to be sopping wet, spread it out on top of the baking soda and let sit for 15 minutes...then scrub it off using the wet towel, the banking soda is a thick paste, then wipe off. It really worked to get that burnt stuff off! I think I'll do it one more time though. It didn't get it all the first time.
Easy and CHEAP! A lot cheaper than the cleaner you buy for it.

http://www.target.com/redcard/main#?lnk=nav_redcard (http://www.target.com/redcard/main#?lnk=nav_redcard)
It links to whatever acct. you'd like and you use it like your debit card. You always save 5% and then online, you don't have shipping costs. So many people have them and I'm just lazy I guess. But we have a super Target and they take coupons and send you coupons, even for for food. If I didn't already shop there, it wouldn't matter.
Fair warning, I'll be replenishing my stock of bread tomorrow.
Tonight oughta be easy at work. Evon said they'll be shutting down one of the two furnace lines, because we're finally caught up enough that we don't have to run ourselves to death trying to force-feed more parts down the lines.
I am a bit better today, thanks to all that have prayed for me. And in sharing- the federal government is SMOKIN' on their tax refunds. I did mine the twentieth online, but was messaged that it would be filed on the 30th. It was....I expected to be several weeks before I saw anything, but when I checked the refund status a few ago, it showed to have been sent. :o Called the bank and there it is. Fastest tax return I have EVER got. Now if the state will do their part, I will be pleased.
Well of course you got it fast, you paid for it. Those of us who are too cheap to pay to get our money back are the ones who have to wait a month or four. :P

At the rate this government spends money, I'll pay $15 to get it in my pocket before they figure out how to spend it for me.... :laughhard:
Quote from a newspaper's "Letters to the editor" column: "I object to your newspaper saying the government spends money like a drunk sailor on shore leave. I was a member of the Navy for seven years, and I can tell you that WE stopped when we ran out of money."
Odd paradox: Windows will load music to my mp3 player at the rate of three songs per second, but deleting them takes 3-4 seconds per song. In the computer world this is abnormal, as it almost always takes longer to write data than delete it. I'm a bit ??? here, but as I don't have the six hours Windoze projected to wait for my whole music collection to be wiped out so I can load a new copy, I took the player to my Linux computer to do the job.
Six hours? Really? My Linux computer did it in 2.7 minutes, and it's running on a slower computer.

No, we don't do anything like that. We have some PIMs and when we have missionaries we take up offerings. We have a bulletin board and when we get a newsletter or whatever from the missionaries, we tack it up there and anyone is free to read it.
Slghtly bummed. Yesterday evening, a young cop from a nearby town (Conway) was hit by a drunk driver while directing traffic. Just found out he died around 5 pm this eening. He was just a kid....hadn't been on the department that long. I hope the drunk driver spends a large portion of his life in a jail cell.
I didn't know the kid, but in my line of work, when you cut one of us, we all bleed. Kinda a family...
And I am concerned about my dog Domino. He is walking okay, but still has some pain some times. It's not really looking like the medicine is working to the extent I had hoped. :sadbounce:

People around here are really battling the flu. It's crazy. They're down for literally DAYS.
Tomorrow, after what I'm anticipating will be an awesome service w/ people getting the H.G., we'll go to a super bowl "party" in the evening. I am clueless about the sports stuff but oh how I like to visit.
Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend filled with letting God do great things!
The news from my area:
- We are having a retirement party today for my pastor and wife. 81 years old, and it's still hard to keep up with him. Don't know what he'll do with himself now... probably the same thing he has been doing, but unofficially, and hopefully slowing down a bit. We've been a bit concerned about his health lately, seems he's trying to do what he used to do with a body that ain't what it used to be.
- I am making a batch of bread today.
- Sister Kim, the Children's Church leader, is not up to par because her father died last week, so I'll be teaching the kids tomorrow morning. Don't blame her a bit, if my dad died I probably wouldn't be in any shape to deal with a room full of kids either.
- That is all.

We have a pastor already. There was a transition period where the young man was the Pastor and our pastor was "Senior Founding Pastor" but I think most of the church has accepted the younger guy as the pastor now.
I hear of some churches where the pastor goes until he dies, never lays the foundation for a younger, duly elected pastor to gradually take over, and when the elder pastor dies the church gets torn apart by a bunch of people, all of whom think they alone know what should be done. I like the way this one happened much better.

That is far better, usually, all around.
Been there, done that on the other end of it when our pastor unexpectedly died. (He was getting up in years, but he wasn't down sick or all that.) And then the Hades and high water all happened over the next year.
Now don't anybody share anything.

It was a beautiful day here, about 70* & very nice & sunny.
It was 30 here and snowy. :-?
It was 28 here and we have about 4-5 inches of snow.
I was a complete and total heathen and went to get my tattoo filled in. I'd had an outline on my left upper arm for almost a year now. Found a tattoo artist who I trusted and had beautiful work and got it colored in. It's gorgeous. It's various flowers. My favorites are the iris.
My car now has back brakes again. We didn't get to finish Brandon's car's brakes so it's still sitting at my workplace. My boss allows us to pull the cars in through a garage door into a very large room downstairs that is currently only being used for storage. It's super nice of him to do this.
Also got a new phone today. I left the iPhone world for the LG Optimus G. Super fast, awesome screen, loads more memory and much longer battery life.

The snow was a lot more than predicted and yet here I am up to take B to his job that makes him drive all over the Tri-Cities area. Almost all churches in the area have canceled services or are on a snow delay. This is gonna be fun....
Happy Sunday!
What? It's a day off, right? I'm not working, right? Seems like a holiday to me. Happy Sunday to one and all.
In other news, Friday was just as boring slow as I thought it would be, with only one furnace line running. And it was running parts that didn't take much processing at all on my end. Ronnie, the guy who takes over while I take a break, is usually only really happy to see me come back when it's hectic, but Friday he was happy to see me come back because half an hour of sitting on his thumbs was all he could take. :P
And I hear they'll be running only one line all next week. And they won't give me any other job to do while I'm waiting. And they won't let me bring my computer to work to pass the time.
Maybe I'll bring my bible and a notepad and start planning out sermons that I don't need right now, but may need someday. Or maybe I'll bring my boombox and play DJ for that whole end of the factory, which doesn't usually have anyone else working there anyway, so nobody will care.
Go with the sermons. Never know when ya might need 'em. :P

Went to church, came home. Eating a taco bean bowl.
Wow. What a day!
Hit the floor running this morning. Was nearly late for practice, had practice, then I stepped back into the apartment to make myself a cup of coffee to take with me to Sunday school. Get in here and there were coffee grounds spread all over the counter and water puddles on the floor. Mom said the Keurig exploded. :o So coffee was out, I went to SS, then we had CHURCH! I mean WOWZERS! Bro
Webb from Milton was here and we forever more had some church! Didn't get out till after 1, and then we had a LOOOOONG staff meeting that he spoke at and showed a video. I held a sleeping Kira for the entire altar service, AND the duration of the staff meeting. Then we had a small meeting about the cake pop fundraiser, I have to bake FIVE red velvet cakes on Friday, and then I hitched a ride with Granny for lunch. I didn't get back to the apartment till 4:30, and I fixed the Keurig, that did NOT explode...mom just...never mind...it was a user-error. SMH. Changed into PJs and passed out on my bed for about an hour.
I've been up a while now...well awake...and I'm contemplating going to bed early.
This day was wide open fast forward, and I am tired! But it was a great day!
Psycho.
Went to church at Knightridge, came home.

And that symbol sent to Mini, of which I have no clue what it means, was done by accident. It was a combination of a smarter-than-owner smartphone, a Monday morning, and trying to communicate while drinking coffee. It don't always work out, and as previously discussed I am not a morning person. Or a Monday person. Heck, at that hour I'm barely a person. :P
And in sharing, I have worked my little fingers to the bone tonight. I'm cleaning out the small (9'X12' or so) room off of the carport so that I can put my ham radio stuff there, as Lou has made it clear that hearing someone talk to me from England or South Africa is not as interesting to her as to me. Therefore, I am being banished to the outdoors, where I shall have to share my meager space with the deep freezer. :sniff:
I am amazed at how much plain old junk that apparently was important to us has accumalated over the past eight years. To make it worse, Lou's organized plastic totes fell over and scattered the contents all over the room. I've been two hours trying to get it clean enough to get INTO the room.

Or vice versa.
Bloomington, oddly enough, does not have any Walgreens. There's a bunch of CVS though.
Bedford has one of each, and if I recall correctly, I think the CVS was first, and then Walgreens went in across the street. I can't remember for certain but it seems like that was the case.
Our CVS's were 1st.

So we parked and watched...a fire truck pulled in, and three fully geared firemen hopped out and took a tour of the building...10 mins later, they left and I was able to drop dad off. Very un-exciting. So I left and got a biscuit from Hardee's and came home.

It don't always work out, and as previously discussed I am not a morning person. Or a Monday person. Heck, at that hour I'm barely a person. :P
FYI, that symbol when texting is a heart, as in I love you. I don't care what you think, I will not participate in your pink miata love fest.

I am up at far too early an hour for this second shift dude. Apparently the Uniden (tm) brand of cordless phones likes to sound like a railroad crossing when its battery gets low, and it keeps repeating this sound every three minutes until it gets the attention it feels it deserves. So I'm up now, and considering leaving the phone on a railroad.

I have a lovely rant for the morning but actually I am feeling like not caring. When people love sin, they suffer for it. It takes care of itself. I wonder sometimes when & where it's fitting to have the warning voice. There is a time & it's not always the pastor or else the prophets would have always been the high priests.
I think I'll go have a cup of tea instead. :thumbsup2:
:smirk2:
Dropped the dog off, and I am still so sleepy. Mom wanted to go to Cato, but they are not open yet, so she went to burkes. I'm sitting in the truck sipping a coffee I just go from Mcds. Trying not to fall asleep.
It's rainy and dark today. About 57 degrees.
Good idea MellowYellow. Sometimes a word of warning can push people farther away, especially if they are obstinate and determined to do what they want to do. And sometimes you have to listen to the Spirit and wait until they have reached bottom, because until then they won't accept any advice to turn around. What hurts is seeing all the pain, all the wasted time, all the wasted resources and talents they endure while you're waiting.
What kind of tea?
Mel dearie.... you and your firemen. *grin* Did you take pics with any of them? :bigcheese:

Yeah, that. All that. Sometimes it's hard to tell when you should speak up and when you should just keep your mouth shut. I generally try to keep my mouth shut until the prompting to speak is so strong I can't ignore it. But sometimes I'm not completely sure that's good. There's a reason God places certain people in our lives, and sometimes it's to give us a kick in the seat of the pants. Err, or skirt. I don't like being that person for other people 'cause it makes me feel yucky, but I also realize that there's a normal back and forth, give and take, in relationships. Especially when you're talking about God and accountability and really acting like brothers and sisters of Christ.
Great. Now MY and Isaac got me all ponderful this morning. Hmph. ;)

That kinda is the point. We're fierce competitors.

Most of them are 2-stories; for overstock.
Ours has overstock upstairs, plus 3 office for the district manager/pharmacy supervisor, and me.

And in sharing- My Lawd, God showed out tonight. There I was, stuck with a message on sacrifice that I KNEW was of God and was needed, but dreading preaching it. All through the song service, God was all over the building, but it seemed everyone was holding back. II Kings 13:16 came to my mind, where Elisha has the king to smite the ground with the arrows, then gets mad when the kings quits after three smites. After looking it up, I knew what God wanted.
I asked Bro Papa for permission to step up early and he handed me the mic. I read the scripture, then God took over and the next forty minutes was pure worship and straight God, as I never looked at my notes, which were not in line with what God was giving anyhow. And boy did the church respond....
Ended with backsliders praying, saints who I haven't saw move from a pew in years running the aisle and an awesome renewal. Was absolutly terrific. Oh, and I got somewhat drunk on God during all that too. Sobered up though when I jumped up from praying with a man and felt a "rip"....yep- my favorite pair of pants ripped from zipper to back pockets.
I never knew how hard it was to follow the mind of God, lead service and try to do so while concealing yourself behind a pulpit. Truely I was checked in the Spirit. Or Seat. :laughhard:
I'm sure God showed up tonight...but you sure it was Him that showed out?
*cough*

I read something about it last night. They would still deliver packages on Saturday, but not letters. (Which somewhat seems goofy, if they're going to have people running routes with packages, they might as well just take the letters too....but I guess they wouldn't have to run entire routes just to do package delivery though....eh...)
It has to go through Congress and stuff though still before it's a totally done deal.

Had great cell group last night. I thought we wouldn't all fit in our front room but we did! God really moved. Looking fwd to some praise reports soon from it. Also have a new couplen who have been involved in world missions for yrs. I contained my excitement but there are no coincidences in God!

I slept til 1 pm. Still have a headache but the migraine portion is hopefully over. Now to see if I can hold down some food which I was unable to do earlier.
Glad you are some better, Heather. *HUGS*
Its nice and 70 degrees here!
It's down right HOT now. Been sweating all morning. Rain went away and the sun came out in all it's glory. I'm glad of that cause after I picked up dad from dialysis we went grocery shopping, and so I'm glad the rain allowed us to do that since we have a truck. Lol
I just realized I left the bread in the truck. So I'm gonna go get that and make myself a sandwich.
*Psalm_97 perks up
Bread? Someone say bread? Where?
Relax...you wouldn't give this bread to the ducks. It's Bunny bread. Store bought. Not worth you getting all excited over. Lol
No joke! The SPCA would have me arrested for animal cruelty if I fed that to an animal.
Still... They have Bunny Bread here, and it IS slightly better than most of the storebought stuff. Better texture mostly.
Bunny bread is all dad will buy. Pretty much. If its available, that's what we get. The quality is better.
Weirdos.
Went to work, came home.
Need to tend fowl and go to church.
And come home then, again.
And tomorrow go work at Dollar Tree in the morning, then go participate in a songfest at the Christian school chapel service.
And then come home from there yet again.
But first thing's first.
I have to bake NINE cakes tomorrow. Again, Isaac, don't get excited...just plain box cakes. We have sold over 400 cake pops and so I'm spending the entire day filling cake pop orders with my crew. But the 9 cakes I have to make myself, before the crew gets here...they all have their cakes they are bringing too. OY!

I'm up. Not by choice. Lou got up to go to work at 5:30 and apparently her motto is " If I can't sleep in, nobody will" :smirk2: Between the noise and, after she left, the texts reminding me of something she wants me to do today, I gave up and got up.
I didn't sleep worth pooty. Couldn't rest. Woke up over and over. Moved around a zillion times. And dreamed nutty stuff, CONSTANTLY. The waking up didn't stop it even, I was not conscious enough to break that off, I'd just lapse directly back into crazy stuff.
Blah.
Going to work.
I slept well, except my 5 zillion trips to potty. :flush: But this morning I feel awful. I've already made breakfast of tomato gravy and biscuits, ate, showered, cleaned the kitchen, and ran the dishwasher. Then I promply threw up. Twice.
Now I have to go make these cakes though. They won't make themselves. Has to be done by noon today. :o
Gotta hurry.
Oh, I have supper started in the crock pot already too. I forgot that point.
Tomato gravy? Do explain...
Tomato gravy just doesn't sound good. :eyebrow:
No it doesn't. At all. Like chocolate gravy. Hurl. Or brown gravy. Hurl.
The only good gravy is white!
Tomato gravy is wonderful. My granddaddy used to make it. I can make a good variation, but I've never been able to replicate his recipe. No one can. It's a talent that died with him.
Anyway...how it's done is you start like any other gravy, brown your flour in some oil. I add salt and Greek seasoning to the flour. After its the right consistency, like a paste, and browned, then dump a can of diced tomatoes in there. Sometimes I use two cans if there is a lot of people eating. Then you add water and stir till its all hot and bubbly, and thickness you prefer. Cover your biscuits and enjoy!
YUMMY!

Just read this on FB: Please be in prayer for the Steve Willoughby family and their work in Singapore as Missionary Steve Willoughby passed from this life after many years of service on the Mission field.
I seen that too. Our church has been praying for him for the last few yrs. God has been doing such an awesome work there, it must have been time. I think his son was just here a few months ago & we all prayed for/with him.
I know it's awesome that they are finally free from the flesh, this old world, in perfect slumber until the dead in Christ are raised first to meet Him in the air... but it still is such a loss that's felt when he gave & did so much for the Lord.
That's not why I threw up. That was because of all the coughing I do EVERY SINGLE MORNING. It gags me sometimes and I can't hold it. Plus I wasnt feeling all that great anyway.

I know you know that I know that. :) lol
The gravy starter I think is called a rue. Not sure if I spelled that right. It's also a starter of most thick soups. Make a rue, add the liquid and everything else. You can make a rue and add chicken stock. From there you can add anything you want. Butternut squash for that soup, tomatoes for that soup, roasted red peppers for that soup... ect. You can sub out the rue for heavy cream but that's more expensive and fattening.
My favorite gravy: still bacon gravy. Some sage and pepper and cream and I'm good. lol
I never have learned how to make a roux. I should someday.
We used to make roux out of a lb of real butter and plain white flour.

Went to work at Dollar Tree.
Then went down to the Christian school for chapel service. Went down to the school building (from the church building) afterwards for the 1/2 cent tour and stood around talking to Angee, one of the teachers, for a long while.
Came home.
I need to shut up the fowl and such.
:pound: :pound: Once more, I must stand in defense of chocolate gravy, aka the breakfast of God that all TRUE southern folk embrace. You Yankees ain't got no taste. :P
And in sharing- Lord, I am wore slap out. We have all of our tax refund back so I've been running around spending money like a drunken sailor. :biglaugh:
Even though we had it all planned out and knew what we were paying off and spending, it is still gut wrenching to spend a large sum after scrimping all year. Even when all I was doing was paying off bills. We have enough food for the next year, I believe, though. I bought in quantity and nearly had to make two trips to get home last night. :o
Then today I went by the butcher and ordered one of their meat boxes which will be near 100lbs of various meats for the freezer. I may be broke but this fat man ain't gonna miss a meal for a while. :fork:
I need to raise a beef.
:smirk2:
Wow. What a day. I just spent 12 solid hours in our church kitchen. 9 cakes and about 200 cake pops made...we have the other 200 to finish tomorrow.
Tomorrow is also the mardi gras parade and we will be selling parking to. Also cold drinks and whatever extra cake pops we have after the orders are filled.
I'm going to bed. Too exhausted to even think straight.
Why in the world did I volunteer to work tomorrow?!?!? It's ok though. I can make up some of the time I missed yesterday plus I will be in the back where all I have to deal with is crazy animals and coworkers instead of the nutty animal owners. We had some CRAZIES in there today.
I hate to appear to be siding with southern people... *dramatic sigh* .... but tomato gravy is really yummy. ;) I'd never had it until I married Chris.

Ruby, how is little bean? Thinking of yous today. <3
Little Bean is apparently taking another giant growth spurt. Or muscle-growing spurt anyhow. *lol* I'm getting kicked ferociously hard now. So much so that it's honestly making me feel seasick.... horridly reminiscent of the first three months. :-\ But the midwife says that's actually a GOOD sign at this stage of pregnancy. Since now is when babies are putting on more muscle, she says it's actually a sign of a really healthy baby if I'm getting kicked that hard. She says it won't be so bad in a few weeks when baby is filling the space more, but for now, there's extra room to kick.
Got to see an out-of-town friend today for a little while. Thanks to Obama's wonderful decisions (that was sarcasm, in case it wasn't obvious), she and her hubby are having to declare bankruptcy. *sigh* It makes me feel sick. They have 4 (small) kiddos, and will soon be living out of a small travel trailer. When people who are honestly trying to do things God's way, aren't being wasteful with money, and are trying to be good stewards of what God placed in their hands find it necessary to declare bankruptcy, there's a huge HUGE problem going on.
Oh, and daddy is going to have a hip replacement surgery in two weeks. I don't like to see him have to go through surgery, but I'm really hoping it will mean he'll be getting around a whole lot better. It makes me hurt to watch him walk.
:beret:
I need a stiff drink.
I'm leaving for east TN in a bit. Like, a bit less than three hours. The original plan was to go up there and see my cancer-riddled sister next Thursday. Then the family decided just last night (Friday night, maybe five hours ago) to go up there now.
I hate short notice change of plans.
Wow.
I went to bed and to SLEEP at 8:30ish. :o Had GOOD sleep too. Didn't get up a million times. The first time I even got up was at 2, and I almost forgot about taking dad to dialysis. I just happened to remember it, but my alarm would have went off anyway.
Today's agenda is that I wait for Wes and Krissy to get here, then I'm going to the store and get stuff for the kids lunch. Then we have to make more cake pops. At 10 we have nursing home ministry, but I won't be able to go cause I pick up dad at 10:30. I gotta get back in a hurry before they block the roads off for the Mardi Gras parade. Then we sell parking for the parade, drinks and cake pops. Somewhere in there I have to fix lunch for the the kids, and help finish the cake pops.
I feel another early bedtime in my future.
I think I'll just shoot you instead.
:fire: :dead:
Hope the surgery goes well for your dad, Ruby.
I woke up with a bad headache.
Whatever is going around is attempting to get me.. lol I just feel a little tired with a sensitive throat but I've also not been super healthy lately. I'm carnal. After the Daniel's fast I felt great and had this false sense of healthiness as if I could eat less healthy food and still be ok cause I built my body up with good stuff. Nope. Doesn't work that way... lol Every cup of coffee, though it's not "bad," is a cup of water I'm not drinking. It's so dry here, it's common for folks to get bloody noses a lot, especially kids. Compared to the summer time, not sweating gives the illusion that we don't have to hydrate as much.
Ok, so that's what's on my dorky brain this morning. I'm so looking forward to summer. I despise these cold dreary days. And I have no room to complain, northeast coast is getting blizzard and crazy amounts of snow.

Please clarify exactly which kind of beans...
Clarification smachtion. We want to know EVERYTHING. And be quick about it...
Ain't been on here much today. Laid around and read books, ect, then drove Rusty down the road and back. Supposed to go with a guy this evening to look at a radio tower, but I'm not seeing that happen. It's cold, cloudy and misting rain. I hate this weather. I want my summer....
How Many beans I got in this pot?? lol..
It all comes back to pot on here.
That MellowYellow has ruined the lot of you.
Isaac-East Tenn as in MY East Tenn? As in east of Knoxville?
I want to know about Kimber's beans! Is this like that game I had when i was a kid? Like Don't Break the Ice or Ants in the Pants?
Seth-I don't have a stiff drink but I'm sure I could find you some flat soda around here somewhere....
I just nearly had a mild heart attack....we went to Russellville to look for something Lou wanted. Didn'want to spend alot, so I told Lou we'd go through a drive-through. She chose Dairy Queen. We ordered two adult meals, a kids meal and three small "Blizzard" ice creams. The total price? $33! :o I told the cashier I'd ate a steak dinner cheaper....Lands. The food was delicious though. the price of living is getting too flowerin' high. Unfortunantly, I know a few funeral directors, and from what they tell me, the price of dyin' ain't any better.
I'm gonna put a lock on my checkbook, 'cause I'm beginning to feel like the Lucky Charms Leprechaun- "Everybody's after me charms!"
Oh, and a praise report- Domino the dog has made a remarkable recovery from just a few days ago. Either the medicine is working or God healed him- which I know not, but it's made a little girl AND her Daddy very happy.

Is blowing in the wind...
Yes, east TN. Johnson City, to be precise.
Speaking of the trip to east TN, my sister ain't looking so good. This is the first time I had seen her since she found out she had cancer, and :o :o :o
Something in me keeps arguing that this person can't be my sister. :-\

Man- I'm praying for you and your family. I've lost friends and family to that disease, and it truely makes you wonder how they can change so much for the worse so quickly.
Ruby isnt the only one with a bean in the pot...Kimber has one too...at least we THINK its only one...we go get it checked out on the 20th, yes I said WE...she invited me to her Drs appointment. I am excited about another baby being around, no matter what the circumstances are. Kimber is my DLFFFFE, and now Ill have a DLFFFFE Jr! I love Kimber!
And now you know. Thats the spilled beans. There isnt much else to tell except that I miss her face and she needs to start coming back around, both to GP and church...I dont care who says what, its none of anyones business. The past is over. If God forgives, then so can I!
I love you, Mymbir!
Sorry to hear that, Isaac. :(

Yeah I saw that earlier, and wasnt in a place to comment. But Im sorry too, Isaac. Prayers for you and your family.
Isaac... I wish I knew what to say that would help. But I don't. Having been through such similar stuff with certain family members of my own, I know how difficult it can be when the person in front of you seems to NOT be someone you know. Really, really tough. I'm sorry.
Kimber, when is your due date? And I agree wholeheartedly with Mel that you need to stick around where friends are, and they love you, and you'll have a support team. God doesn't throw us on the trash heap just because we make mistakes or bad choices. If He did, well, myself and everyone else on this board would be on the trash heap. And anyone who is honest with you will tell you that they've made some pretty horrid choices in life, and THOSE kind of friends - the kind that are honest about themselves - are usually the kind who will pray for you and be there for you and help you when you've tripped and need to get back on your feet. :) Sending you a *HUG*, girlie.
Mel, I'm glad you're planning to go with her to that appointment. :)

Decided not to read the last 4 sharing pages... Sorry. LOL
Getting tired. I go back to work on Monday! Been laid off since June.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday. :)
Got a good night's sleep, considering it was in a room that was not my bedroom, on a bed that was not my air mattress, at a time when I usually don't sleep. Either I was more tired than I thought, God was good or both.
And woke up with the old bluegrass gospel song running through my head, for no apparent reason...
Take your shoes off, Moses, you're on holy ground
Holy ground, holy ground
Take your shoes off, Moses, you're on holy ground
This is the Lord, thy God
My approx. Due date is the first week of Oct.
But I think they will change that when I go see the doc.
In other news, I hear there's a tornado watch in Fuzzy's area, a thunderstorm in Roscoe's area, and... y'all are shipping all that stuff OUR way?! Keep it, keep it! :demand:

went to church. went to walmart. now home to strip my iPhone 4 of most things Heather that way I can ship it to MS :)
I went to a nondenominational church this morning. It's not UPC but at least its somewhere I won't be kicked out of....
And now I'm watching service from TPOJC. A church I've visited and should probably do so again.
Heather! I wish you could come here permanently. We would NOT kick you out. Never. You would have to be a major disruption and disrespectful and just all out really really bad for our ushers or pastor to ask you to leave. We've had some doozies! And they let them stay!
Like me for instance! ;)
I was supposed to watch a young boy this afternoon while pastor gave his mother a Bible study, but she didnt bring him so I'm gonna nap a bit. Had a great day with my brother and his family. :)
I'm not sure it would be a good idea for both of us in 1 church for too long. lol. People would have their hands full
I'm back home. Sis was looking better today than she did yesterday, and Grandma said she looked better than she had last week when Grandma and Dad went up to visit.
By a curious coincidence last week I bought a smartphone off ebay, the world's smallest Android smartphone, small enough to fit in my shirt pocket and serve as a music player. So I was wondering what to do with my current music player, so I left it and the cable with Sis to listen to music. It has my whole collection to browse through, and a small external speaker, and a great battery life. Hope it helps - any positive note should be good in a hospital environment, right?
I sure am glad to be back home though. All the way up there and all the way back I was afraid my motion sickness would rear its queasy head. Made it all the way there just fine, most of the way back just fine... and less than an hour and a half from home I started feeling bad. Made it home without vomiting though, and now I feel fine.
That's all the news from here.
Took a little nap, then went to church at Sanders. Then went to church at Shiloh.
Then I went to Steak & Shake cause Nina at Shiloh invited me to and I've not been around for a long time, so I went. I'm too tight and poor to eat, so I didn't order anything. Some of the other people that went made me ashamed with the way they were about their service and food. I'd just as soon have come home, cause it wasn't really very enjoyable.
Anyways, home now, so it's over. :P
Imagine that...a social setting that you didn't enjoy.
I didn't get a nap after all. So I washed clothes, (4 loads today) cleaned the kitchen and made a cobbler. Now it's bedtime and I'm wide awake.
Figures.

Honestly, I don't know. I've read where scones were mentioned, but have never actually seen one that I was aware of. I kinda had a mental image they would have a cone-shaped look to them. That buffet has improved a bit.

Isaac, some people would call your smarmy comment brown-nosing. :laughhard: We'll revoke your mancard if that happens again. :P
In sharing- Lord, I felt like I'd been beat when I got to work this morning, and could not get going despite large amounts of coffee. But, I preservered, I conquered the day and made it home, where I've spent the last two hours staining the work bench I built friday. It is now a beautiful mahogany color. Unfortunantly, I haen't gotten any better with a paintbrush as I've aged, so my clothes and hands are also a beautiful mahogany color... :P

By the way, if anyone ever happens to be in east Tennesee, particularly in Johnson City, Greeneville, Kingsport or somewhere in that area, and you see a restaurant named "Fatz" go there. We were there Saturday night and it was goooood! I got a pot roast sandwich, asparagus with lemon butter sauce and peach cobbler. The pot roast tasted like a real pot roast, not that deli meat that they call roast beef in the supermarket. The asparagus had never been in a can, it wasn't mushy. The peaches in the cobbler had obviously never been canned, they didn't have that flavorless taste that canned peaches have.
And yes, I asked the waitress to bring me my dessert first. It was the best part.
As a measure of how good the restaurant is, it earned my uncle Fred's rating of "Man, that was flat-out good!" If he says it's good, it's good. If he says it's flat-out good, you should make a detour to try it.
We have a FATZ in Bristol too.
My appointment is Friday at 1130. I'm not allowed to eat anything after midnight Thursday. It's gonna be bad. By 1130 my blood sugar is gonna plummet and I have to drive myself because their isn't anyone who can take me.

Hello peoples. Checking in.
Last night around 6 I got a call from a friend who is here visiting her mother who just got out of the hospital. She was driving around and wanted to know if I wanted to hang out with her. She needed a friend and an ear to listen to her woes. So she picked me up, we went to Waffle House and I drank 5 cups of coffee. No joke. We talked and talked, and then went to her moms house and talked and talked. Then she brought me home around midnight, and we sat in the church parking lot in her car and talked and talked till 2:30am. Shew! So I finally came in, and went to bed, slept an hour, and had to get dad up. Took him to dialysis, and came back and crashed. At 10:00am I went to pick him up and we went grocery shopping. Then I piddled around here for awhile.
I currently have a meatloaf in the oven and I'm killing time on GP waiting on it to finish. Gonna make mashed taters and spinach to go with it. Can't wait! I'm starved and I love meatloaf!
But I AM tired. Serves me right for staying out all night, but it was worth it to catch up with an old friend. The coffee was worth it too. :yum:

What kind of test are they doing?
Oh. When I got in last night the dumb dog had pooped in my room. On the rug beside my bed. I just moved the rug and left it. Not my dog. I REFUSE to clean up after it.
So I told mom this morning. Told her that he pooped and of course she started defending him. "it was raining all day, he wouldn't go out, it's not his fault BLAH BLAH BLAH..." I stopped listening. I went to pick up dad and when I got back, the poop was gone and my rug was in the washer. There was a strong bleach smell in my room.
I was satisfied.
I have two dogs and they don't like to go out in the rain.
:o
Heather...I'm still waiting on an answer to a question I text you a few weeks ago...
Exactly how much chocolate would be needed to take out this dog?
:o Wow Mel....
So I was listening to Ray Stevens "Its Me Again, Margaret" and when he sang the line "And call the same lady on a pay telephone" the first time, our phone rang. It was the NRA. *sigh*

Wednesday. Or in my world, Thursday. :biglaugh: Church tonight, and I'm wondering if it will be the kind of service we've had the last two services, with such a powerful move of God and worshipping. We shall see...
My sister had her baby yesterday. Everything went great. All natural birth. Took around 3hrs. She waited as long as she could so as to not be subjected to their "efficiency" procedures. God is good. I'll be headed out there in a couple of weeks to help with the house.
I'm awake. No more receptionist for me the rest of the week at work. Woot! I'll be in the back hopefully doing dentals the rest of the week. They are probably my favorite thing to do. I can't remember if I've told you guys that before or not so just go with it

Well. That is just a tease.
Long day ahead.
Wound care, bank, bill paying at electric co., a/c place, insurance store, storage place, phone bill place...then mom has a Drs appt, then pharmacy, then sign team practice and watching Kira and Olivia, after that is church family prayer. Somewhere within all that I gotta fix meals and we gotta eat.
Better get started. Shower time now.
:hi:
Also gotta go to the post office sometime today too. Justin sent me a package I think may come today.
What is it, dog poison?
Howdy y'all.
The whole Furby subject has me laughing. Poor Mel and just a smidgen of poor dog for how his owner has trained and taken care of him or the lack thereof.
Today, I'm making a giant apple pie for cell group tonight. Well, giant as in a jelly roll pan size. I love that homemade apple pies do not have to be fancy. It seems people enjoy them just as much when the pastry crust is fancily constructed or simply put together. For tonight's however, I think I'm going to tint half the dough for the top crust pinkish and cut out heart shapes to layer on top. Everyone in our cell group is married so there's no awkwardness about Valentine's.
We really don't do much if anything for the holiday usually but Hannah begged for weeks to buy the heart shaped raviolis at Costco.. lol So we're having a family Valentines, which I'm not even sure if that makes sense... lol
We had a very uncomfortable situation last night at church. There is this boy that likes Hannah. For the last year? He has bought her gifts here and there. The first one was a purse! filled with goodies and we were actually kind of taken aback by it and a little uncomfortable. I should have stopped it right then and there. But I thought I was being too harsh probably since his parents made so light of it. I let Hannah make him a muffin or cookies or something at one point as a thank you. We had a little fun with the naivety of their crush a bit. Then... ugh. It is still bothering me I guess. Everyone in the church knew Hannah and this boy liked each other. They didn't spend anymore time together than before, which is almost nothing, consisting of before and after church in the sanctuary while the adults visit, during SS class, always with all the other kids there as well. NO_aloneness, NO physical contact, they're 10 for Pete's sake... lol
It's impossible to keep a kid from having a crush. Not really a problem, but when they both like eachother, for an extended period of time, conversations must be had... lol
So, people have giggled about them too and I have too, but the mom a few times has had somewhat of a different look on her face that I couldn't read. Until she informed me one night after church that Hannah was in his personal space visiting and he didn't seem to appreciate it. That's was it in a nutshell but what the forsighted tone said to me was: "your child is pursuing my child not the other way around, she's after him." I have kept a pretty good eye on them and it's been the boy that has said some very forward things. But neither here nor there, whether Hannah has been or not, we decided that was it. It's done. Hannah is a confident go getter, often silly/ornery girl (she gets it from her Dad :hypocrite: ) With her tact of sometimes less than a 10yr. old's, I can see how that can be interpreted as too forward. So this little innocent romance can be over. I should have stopped it way back then. The Dad is nice as all get out and trying to teach his son to treat the girl you like special. The mom doesn't seem to think it's anything but innocent sweetness. But there is some lack of understanding there. And I cannot forgo interceding in a situation where Hannah could be made out to be or get a reputation for being boy crazy or forward. Because she isn't. And I'm not a parent that thinks my kids are perfect. Lord, I have to really work hard to make sure the culture I was raised in that speaks down to and bad about to others of their kids. I have to purposely go out of my way to say nice things about my kids, not because I don't believe them but because I don't want to be a parent bragger, blind to their flaws.
So weeks ago, when this comment was made in clear insinuation, we told Hannah "No more receiving gifts." That friendship is the most important thing, especially if you like each other. They rarely see each other, only at church. That gifts like that are for people who are seriously thinking about marriage. We discussed with her how to respond, not actually expecting any more since the mom's comment.
But the boy got Hannah a heart shaped box of chocolates and stickers. I feel bad for him actually. Hannah told him it was too much and that she could not accept it. He was a little flustered, poor guy. He insisted she take it and she let him know she couldn't, her parents said so. So he told her she could give it to her friends. The boy is awfully sweet.
I wish I could tell the mom where we stand and it not turn into drama. I wish they would have had him tone it down or not let him be so extravagant in the first place. I wish they would recognize that little girl's hearts can be so quickly submissive to someone that makes them feel special.
It's very difficult ground to talk to Hannah about having a high standard in who she likes in the future without sounding as if some people just aren't good enough. It's hard having even to address it when she_is_only_10, for crying out loud. She should just be able to like another little boy and it be some discrete crush. Gifts and bold statements take it to another level that it doesn't need to be. And when Hannah's response is interpreted at being some prephase unchasteness, it takes whatever cuteness there was and makes it unecessary drama.
*sigh* thanks for letting me vent. I shouldn't have let her ever accept the first gift. It shouldn't have thrown me off so much. Her vibrant personality does attract people in general.
As for the gifts, total fault rests on the boy's parents. The 10 year old does not have a job, earn money, drive to the store and make purchases......

'Scuse me?!? YOUR son brought MY daughter extravagant gifts, and MY daughter is the one being forward? :o Okay then.
You have every right to be perturbed/upset, Melodya. It's completely ridiculous for parents of a ten yr old boy to be allowing behavior like that. If he's a really good friend of hers, and wanted to give her a birthday gift or something, fine. But a V-day present, and personal type gifts?!? Nuh uh. I'd be upset too.

:beret:
Things have been a bit aggravating in my world today. I got the smartphone I ordered, but it didn't come with a cable. Ebay listing didn't make this clear, so this was a bit of an inconvenience. So I went down to the local computer store for a USB micro cable. They didn't have one, and the guy tried to tell me that the USB cables he had (mini-A, mini-B, etc) were all the standard ones they make, and my phone probably uses a proprietary cable that I have to get from the phone manufacturer. Um... yeah, it's just a standard USB micro connection. Apparently the computer expert had never heard of USB micro.
So I called around - Radio Shack is closing down and didn't have one, but Wal-Mart said they had one for $10, which is what I had to spend. Got there and I don't know what the lady on the phone was looking at, but they're more than $10. So I got a wall charger with a USB micro tip. I don't really need to connect it to the computer right now anyway, right?
Got back home, charged the phone, tried to update Android because the currently installed version is more buggy than a Las Vegas motel. Unfortunately you have to connect it to a computer to update the software. :frustrated:
Lesson learned: If they don't explain exactly what is in the box with ebay listings, ask.
Today was.....interesting.
My eyes are currently on fire because Brandon smoked up the house while cooking dinner.

Well, at least one day anyways. :P
I just ordered some fruit trees/plants. God help me.
Going to bed so I can get up and go to work tomorrow. Puke.
Happy nearly-Valentine's Day!
Happy Single Awareness Day!
I hate this holiday. And not cause I'm single. I hate all fake holidays that are so commercialized and just seems to be money hungry stores that gain profit from people by promoting a day that should be carried out every day.
I dont need a special day to tell my friends and family how much I care. If I really do care, it's more fun and special to buy gifts and cards and candy unexpectedly throughout the year. It's more fun that way anyway. I don't need a holiday with a chubby baby trying to shoot people.
SMH.
But a happy day to the rest of yas! :hypocrite:
Oh and good morning.
I'm sitting in the parking lot waiting for the Dialysis to open so I can drop dad off. I do this three times a week, rain or shine, cold or hot, awake or sleepy, sick or well. Without complaint.
That's how I show love. On the ordinary days.
:D
Merning.....And FTR, I am on the chubby baby's side. It's quite fun to shoot people. :hypocrite:
It is my Friday. And my valentine's day word to it-
"Oh, Friday, I have missed thee so
All week to thee I wanted to go.
Now move along in a rapid way
Tomorrow's Saturday, and that's MY day!"
:P :P
And in other news of Valentines, I have been hosed in a most unexpected way. See, Lou ALWAYS has to work on Valentine's day. Therefore, I ALWAYS send her flowers to work. No problems, ten minutes on the phone and my wife enjoys showing off her flowers. This year, however is different. Some bonehead gave her the day off and now I have no way to order flowers for her. This, friends, is a fact I discovered late last night, with no time to make other arrangements. We live so far out in the country that they won't deliver, and she won't stay home long enough to receive them anyway. :smirk2:
So- I am going to pick up her a laptop today. Much more expensive. Hopefully, it shall redeem me from the pickle I find myself in, and MAYBE she won't be suspicious about what I'M buying next. :freaky2:

I misread that as pants and had to go back and reread it. lol
With the smoking thing. He hasn't had a cigarette in 6 weeks. He has however decided to smoke Swisher Sweet mini cigar things in his car. The smell horrible. Not as bad as cigarettes. He does only smoke like 1 or 2 a day as opposed to 2 PACKS of cigarettes a day. But I feel like he's set one thing down just to pick up another. We'll see how this turns out....Still not smoking in the house though and I've made my car off limits.
Work. Gym. For Valentine's day all I've asked for is not to have to cook when I get home.
g2w
Morning to you sillies.
I am thankful there is a day set aside, commercialized or not for these waffle brained men who are working so hard to provide for their families, romance sometimes has to take a back burner. Yes, they should just always be romantic, but they're human. Nathan's work hours got changed to 10hrs in 4days which give Friday off which has meant he takes a side job for the Friday & Saturday. The poor guy needs an excuse to divert his atention to something lighthearted.
Aaaaand I am thankful he got something for Hannah. Coming from a man that is there for her day in and day out, teaches her gifts are an extension of love-already-shown not the other way around. Rarely do we have room in the budget for random gifts throughout the year.
Morning all. I'm at work.
We don't do Valentine's Day either... except maybe buy candy marked down the next day. ;)
Seth sure has gotten blessed a LOT this week. :freaky2: Seems suspicious.
I hate vday too. My only close guy friend's last name starts with a V. So I told him I deemed today Happy his last name day. He loved it haha.
I'm mad cus they have almost to none valentine cards for Daddy's. That irritates me. Currently he's the only "sweetheart" I have at the moment, and I couldn't find a card for him! Ugh! The only other sweetheart I have is 3....he doesn't quite get the concept of cards. So I got him a valentine pez! lol he asked me last night at church "noney are you coming over?" I said "yep, tomorrow! are you excited?" and he nodded. Love that dude!
He calls me Noney, because when he was starting to talk, we couldn't get him to say Jenn. It came out chinese jumble. lol So Andrea (his mom) and I call each other honey, we always have....so we said "Davis, can you say honey?" and it came out "noney" and it's stuck. Love having a nickname! :thumbsup2:
Roscoe: Is that why you became a cop, cause you find it fun shooting people? :P
Whatever laptop you get her, tell me what she uses it for and I'll make a list of good freeware programs to get. LibreOffice is a no-brainer, and you can load that music collection to her laptop and use Foobar2000 to play it.
About Single Awareness Day Valentine's Day - for me it has always been just another day. I can't even get really excited over the post-holiday half-off candy sale, because they never have any really good, really dark chocolate. The only thing today means to me is I have to endure a lot of comments about how I really need to find a nice woman to marry. Like I can go to Wal-Mart and buy one off the shelf.
Jenn, for some reason a Chris Rice song keeps rolling through my head...
Noney noney ohdelay, river washes over me, up for air and carries me away
Noney noney ohdelie, run the earth and watch the sky, playing hard and waiting for the day

You're all a bunch of weirdos.
Well the men were certainly Valentine card shopping today. In the Marsh (grocery) store they were buying flowers and cards.
Dollar Tree and Dollar General looked like a heard of wild animals had run through the cards, not just the Valentines, but everything....it was a mess...bleh.
Anyways...work tomorrow and the next day.....bleh.

Tomorrow, Hannah and are going to a couponing class at the church. We are excited to save some money. I don't know that we'll be like the extreme couponers on that Netflix show but when it's something that we can MAKE money on or that the church's compassion ministry pantry can use, we're going to try and do it. I'm not competitive (at all) though so I don't think I could be extreme.
And the way name brand companies jack up their prices, no I don't have any problem getting things free... lol One lady here said it feels like stealing. Uh... no. lol

I shouldn't laugh but I can't help it, Isaac. A couple of years ago, I bought what was advertised as a certain phone and got it and it actually, after some research, was from Brazil. Certain things did not work on it because of that and eventually some keys stopped working altogether. It's hilarious now but at the time we weren't cause the money we thought we were saving, really wasn't, for what it couldn't accomplish. It met all the criteria Jenn listed and by the time I figured out it was wrong, I wasn't going to assume I'd get my money back by sending it back. I did report them though!

The listing was from Pennsylvania, I googled the phone before I got it (I always do with electronics,) we have a state-side version, which I thought this was, and I am returning it. The seller said he would give me a refund.
Sorry, Isaac, that is so frustrating.
MellowYellow it gets better. All I got was the phone, no cable or anything. I found a reference online to it not being able to use the AT&T sim card until the user updated Android, but to update Android I had to connect it to the computer. So I had to get the cable (more money,) update Android, and it still didn't work. That's when I called AT&T and spent a good long time trying different things, then finally found out the IMEI number doesn't exist here in the states.
Bleh!

Sorry I didn't answer this sooner. I am going to check into that P2P Ruby, thanks.
From what I can tell, the mom seems to think that because her son is matter of fact personality and not dramatic about it that it's no big deal. And the little girls that squeal and giggle around Hannah about it makes it into a bigger deal? And the fact that Hannah likes him too and doesn't run away and is totally flattered by the attention = Hannah making a bigger deal of it than it is? Her personality is not shy or to run away or to be staunch, and the other little girls can't help but think it's so fun to gather around about. I see the boy's face too, he rather enjoys the attention and the other boys are quite entertained by it. He's just matter of fact and quieter about it.
I don't know. I'm hoping there is nothing else said about it. Because, as you all know, I'm not the smoothest person. I'm very leary of engaging into any conversation with the mom/dad about it so as not to come across as the facts are that they shouldn't have let him be forward in the first place, putting my child/us in an awkward position.

Lord, have mercy....went to work, worked just over 13 hours. Came home. Tended fowl. There was a possum in the hen house sitting in the corner. He'd been eating eggs. :eek!: Got him out, shot him and hauled him off. Washed eggs. Took a shower. Sitting down finally, eating a salad. I still have stuff I need to do.

I spent all day running around looking at ham radio stuff. Hit the mother lode.....a friend passed away several years ago who was a ham. I heard that his widow wanted to part with alot of his radio stuff. I went by and bought a truck load, literally for $300, gambling on whether it worked....everything I've hooked up thus far works. Sold a radio and power supply to a friend for $100, which brings my investment down to $200. Then I find one of the many radios is a rare beast and known as a cult favorite-it cost $700 new in 2002 and is stil valued in the $300-400 range. It works perfectly and will be staying with me. :D I probably wound up with $2k worth of radios. Now if I can just figure out how to get the 80' tower down and home.....

They took theraflu out for some reason. Some type of drug recall.
Cvs (or mine at least) carries about 3 types if our brand of the theraflu.
I love it too. It's normally the only thing that helps me with any kind of ailment.
It's been a big day, and I'm afraid I'm with the group of people getting stuff done today. Although it would have been nice to have a lazy day. *lol* There's an event going on at the church 5 minutes from my house, but..... we're not going. I'm sitting home and putting my feet up and plan to just have a relaxed and quiet evening. I'm such a heathen. :smirk2:

I'm always a heathen!! Or at least a Heather. I've been told they are super close though
I was forced to retire from laying flooring this evening when everytime I moved we both heard my knees popping and cracking. Even with knee pads on it's hard for me to get up and down repeatedly. But our spare room is almost floored!! Hooray!!!
Sleeping in tomorrow since the church I'm visiting doesn't have service til 3 and I did all our laundry today
Heathen Heather. Hmm... maybe we should just shorten it to Heathern? *grin*
