I remember being little and people giving us MOUNDS of empty egg cartons.

I miss having chickens...I miss my mom having chickens. At least eggs aren't too expensive.

I think they are like 1.98 a dozen here for grade A Large. How much are eggs where you live?

Oh and I bought a whole cut up chicken for 39 cents a lb...is that cheap?

A whole chicken here is on sale for 59ยข/lb & that's a good deal so u got a great deal!  non-antibiotic eggs here are at least $3/doz.

I began feeling a little better, so I made Stuffed Pasta Shells for dinner. Unfortanantly, I'm back to feeling poorly again. Lord, I hate being sick...

And yes, I'm a big ol' crybaby when I feel bad, so you'll just have to deal with my whining. And pray for Lou, she has to put up with it in person. :laughhard:

Roscoe, she may secretly enjoy it.  I wish Nathan was a bit more baby-ish.  He wants to be tough.

We're at the library.  The kids and I are at the computers in a row. ☺  Andrew is looking up words in the online thesauras, Hannah is playing a math game, and I, leading the best example, am on GP.  (http://yoursmiles.org/msmile/girls/m0406.gif)  I wish that smiley was on GP!

I had to go pick up Nathan from work and let the kids stay home.  Someone came to the door and they didn't answer of course.  But the person left a petite apple pie!  How sweet, I wish I knew who it was though.

Hmmm.... I wish I knew of some good Bible study book to check out.  Most books in the library disinterest me.

I haven't gotten a flu shot, but the two people I love with (parents) have, so I'll risk it.

FYI: I despise apple butter. Jeremy loves it..of course, haha. Luckily, my parents also love it and have made it, so we will get his supply from them.

Jeremy will be here around 1pm tomorrow. So very excited!! :) we are going to go register tomorrow after he gets here. Hopefully we make it without fighting hahahaha.

We need to.. Hurry and finalize our guest list, pick put bridesmaid dresses, buy his ring, pick out flowers, and most hurriedly..book our cabin. :)

I am anti-flu shot! Almost once a week, my boss asks me if he can give me a flu shot (he's a registered pharmacist); and I vehemently tell him NO! CVS is WAY big on flu shots. I'm not...haha

I LOVE apple butter. YUM! Cracker Barrell will bring you some of theirs with their biscuits.....oh my lands... *drools*

Depends on the definition.  When I'm sick I just want to be left alone, mostly to lie down and just lie there, maybe sleep.  Usually when I'm sick it's like there's a big energy hole in my core and no matter how much energy I throw in it just keeps being absorbed.  I do a lot of lying very still when I'm sick.

Of course I have one day colds, so it must work.   :great:

In other news:  Went to work, came home.

Melodya....that's because the flu shot IS the flu virus. lol Another reason I'm anti-flu shot!

Yes their reasoning is that it's to help your body become "immune" to the virus...but still....the logic is somewhat off in my opinion haha...

As far as I am aware, I have never had the flu.  Either in early years that I didn't take flu shots, or in all the several recent years that I have took a shot.

PET PEEVE:  Everybody calls everything "the flu."  Every virus that makes you sick is NOT "the flu."

It's not live virus though.  Used to all be live virus shots, and then there were certain kinds that were and the others weren't.....don't know if they still use the live for anything now or not.  The main thing they use is not though.

exactly Jenn. I've never had the shot. Plus I don't have to worry about the crazy chemicals they put in with it that are toxic. But the medicine world's only cares about what cause immedate issues untill the long term effects overwhelm them.

I can't get a flu shot. Once upon a time I was allergic to eggs.  Sometimes I still have the reaction if I eat lots and lots of just eggs. So since they feed the not live virus egg yolks..it could kill me. I'd rather not die. :)

You cannot prove the Bible to some people.  They will believe what they want to believe.  Humans have a marvelous ability to select the evidence that supports their belief and disregard the rest.  That's how so many people become conspiracy theorists.

GRRRRR!

The laptop I ensconced in the church sound booth is going out... hard drive again, getting worse as time passes.  So (sigh) I sacrificed one of my external hard drives, cloned a Linux Mint from the computer I'm using right now and the external hard drive will also be a permanent fixture in the sound booth.  As the laptop is old anyway, I'm thinking about supergluing the USB cable in.  Maybe not.  But this setup will work for the foreseeable future.

No, this does not mean I'm smart because I can do this.  It just means I have tools that really smart people made, like a Linux distro that you can install on an external hard drive and boot through USB.  :D  I'm standing on the shoulders of giants to hold up the sound booth.

I recommend Duct tape. And if'n that don't work- JBWeld.  :hypocrite:

There's nothing on this earth that can't be bond together with one or both of those products. I've saw engine blocks that were cracked repaired with JBWeld. :laughhard:

I have heard of that use for that product but never had a cracked engine block and no experience with that product.  It seems a bit overkill for the current situation though.  As to duct tape, the position of a USB cable in a USB port precludes efficient application.  You'd have to wrap it around the whole keyboard to get any hold.

I always get the flu shot, not for myself though. My mothers immune system is basically nonexistent thanks to a Brown Recluse spider bite that nearly killed her when I was about 12. Since then the doctors recommend all   family member get the flu and pneumonia shots. One went as far as to say "if they don't then ban them from your house".  She gets sick very easily.

I usually end up getting the flu though anyway. lol

How long till Seth is done?

Praying you are feeling better Ruby, and you too John and Roscoe.

Well excuse me for breaking the GP status quo and getting a flu shot unlike almost all the rest of you blasted tree-hugging hippy wannabes.  :-?

:P

Sweet Marie....got the church washed....but have to bleach the front and east wall because you can't wash them without brown dirty water running out and leaving horrible looking stains like tobacco juice....  Road dust from years ago...mud dauber nests....I dunno what exactly does it all...I think road dust must have to do with it, cause it's on the front and the side of the sanctuary part of the building, and the road was still gravel back when that siding was put on.....and the back side is not bad that way, so....

Filled the baptistry back up too....now we can flush the toilets.  lol

Lord, we're a mess.  :ugly:

For what it matters, I'm with the majority. I don't get flu shots either. :P

And when Lou came in from work, I left her watching Chey and headed for the shop. Two or three hours of  just me and my toys, with the Hinsons, the Payne family, and The glenn Kaiser Band playing on the shop Cd player gave me a little peace. And, with minimumal wishes for the deaths of the designers of my truck, I managed to install the starter that I bought in February of 2010, when Rusty's starter first started acting up. Now he fires off every time, with no dead "clicking" before firing off.  :thumbsup2:

And I got the 'vette running again too. I'm becoming quite the mechanic. :hypocrite: and I sincerely hope God never makes me do that for a living. If the book says it takes two hours, that's what you get paid. I'd starve to death... I think the two hour job I just completed was supposed to take an hour. :laughhard:

Sethers, those are the precious stories that make ya. Our old IA church was built on an area that flooded in any decent rain. All the way to the platform.  It would mess up the plumbing that ran on a well. During some major flood they actually took ppl from the parking lot to the doors in a boat.

Yeah but think of the sermons you could preach about Noah!  :D

In other news:  Went to work... still at work.  Furnace line 1 is having major problems and is out of commission for the rest of the night.  2nd shift boss has said repeatedly that I could bring my computer to work as long as he doesn't see it, so I'm currently typing on a laptop that is resting in a tilted tray.  Tilted away from where most people can see it.

Actually he walked right by multiple times - he was setting up a rework job right next to the furnace line.  Never said anything.  He was the one who kept saying I should bring it... probably so I would quit asking him for something else to do on nights when the furnace line was slow.

Went to sleep, woke up.  I think before breakfast I'll go out and pet the cat for a while.

Speaking of which, my little kitten is growing up.  Not fully adult yet, she still has the rangy look of an adolescent cat, but she has almost reached her full height.  She has also developed the internal elevator most cats seem to have, that allows them to effortlessly rise to heights many times their own height, and she has been making good use of this new ability.  I walked outside yesterday and she meowed at me from somewhere above my head.  I looked up and asked if she got lost.

It comes in handy with food though.  I can now put her cat food where she can reach it, but the dog can't.

Nearly killed myself trying to load a round bale of hay on a stupid cart.....  Lord....if our John Deere tractor was up to running we could move thousand pound bales of hay like normal people instead of wrestling them by hand.....  Bout broke my neck and/or back....thank God the tongue of the cart didn't fall on my face of I'd have been in a much worse world of hurt.  It would've made an interesting video though, I'm sure.

Why do soundtrack CDs break each song up into bits?  Every time we get a christmas program with a soundtrack, the soundtrack CD has each song as at least three tracks.  The current project on hand has 12 songs, with 63 tracks.  Grrrr...

Good thing I have CDEX.

Andrew said my apple butter is great & that he prefer not share. I got 8 jars out of that batch.  Just got canning them & then went & finished sanding the plaster spots that Nathan did in Andrews room. I'll prime it tomorrow probably. Nathan is gone working side jobs.

Andrew may be getting straight A's on his report card. Which means he gets a dinner with just me somewhere.  He can't decide between Panera & Red Lobster.  Lol  it was so HARD (hard doesn't even begin to describe it actually) to put back in p.s. But after 2yrs of h.s. he is doing great. Thank you Jesus.

Your phone is a... what?  First time I've ever heard that one.

SHARING:  I wish I were a real musician.  Some people I know can hear a song, sit down and play it.  I have to play at slower tempo, back up, puzzle out something that didn't seem quite right, tinker around until I find the right chord, start again...  A soundtrack that should take an hour, maximum, takes a minimum of three days.   :frustrated:

Got it bleached....lord, I'm so over that.

Just to look at the building, it looks pretty good.  But don't go up close and look at it, you can still of course see dirt here, stains there, blemishes galore, etc....  Why must EVERYTHING be that way?  :eyebrow:

I was wearing a black sweatshirt and pants while bleaching the dirty water spots....now it's black with pink speckles shirt and pants.

I am surprised my eyebrows are not blonde, the wind kept blowing the spray back in my face.

Breaking point!!

The only bad parts of the day were around 7 and then just about half an hour ago, but they pretty much ruined my day. I feel like I'm in a pressure cooker and I can't handle it anymore. If Jeremy hadn't been there to calm me down, I would've probably way there and cried for a good hour in the parking lot. I'm mad at life for keeping on giving me lemons. I don't even like lemonade! Thankfully my parents are helping me out with me being out of a car until it can be fixed but with all the excitement, I forgot to make my car payment, and of course... the system is down for an upgrade so I still can't make it. I need the cycle to sttooooooppppp!

Im  at home.  For a few moments more...

I just had the best idea ever for a Facebook app...we need a Facebook app that goes through your friends posts (and their stupid reposts) and if someone posts something that is false, glurge, or in any way not accurate, it lowers their ranking.  It would assign them a grade.  You know, A, B, C, D, F.  If they hit the D, or F level, they are blocked, or unfriended.  If all they share is games, its a automatic block or unfriend.  It judges them by 1) the amount of posts they post, and 2) the quality of posts.  If you follow a fb fad, or repost Facebook stupid stuff, you get blocked too.

I think it would be very popular...now if I only knew how to make it happen...

A Philippians 4:8 app?  That could potentially shut down Facebook!  I estimate a good 86% of all "friend" links would be broken in the first 7 hours after implementation.

Hmmm... I may have gotten myself into deep water.

I have been asked to make a soundtrack for "God is working out His plan" by Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.  If I can get a lock on the chords in this thing it should be easy... light drum track, pads, a horn for what little embellishments exist... but that's IF I can get the chords down.

HELP!  Anyone able to help me out here?  I can't get them myself I think, and I can't find any chords online.

Lady ISG,

If God is dealing with you to try and reach your ex-b/f, far be it from me to discourage you.

If you still have feelings for him, and it's you thinking you can change him, how likely is past failure to be met with success, and yield any other result that heartache for you?

So my awful meltdown was...awful. BUT! my weekend was salvaged. I'm so glad Jeremy was there to calm me down, plus we got to spend some invaluable time with my parents. Dad made his first pitifully sad but humorous comment about me moving.

Church was great! We received some fabulous news about our cake. A man in our church is the one making it, and he's giving it to us as a wedding present, which is awesome! We're going to get him a gift tho. So unexpected!! My last major outflows cash-wise are flowers and his wedding band, and them pictures AFTER the wedding. :) God has really started stepping in and sweeping up my problems, haha. I'm very excited and thankful. We registered this weekend and we have another store to do. Exciting!

In the meantime, Roscoe and I will be over here pelting Se.th with frozen donut holes if anyone needs us.

Okay...A few things :) Today was my first day back at "the farm" I think I'm going to start calling it TFF for The FUNNY Farm! First day back..and I already have more responsibilities that I thought I wanted...:) Put on my happy face and be thankful I have a job. AND it seems some of the riff and the raff quit while I was on medical :) Thank you Jesus!

About the ExBF. I still care about him..I care about his soul. I don't "love" him, nor am I in love with him. We didn't talk for a long time, he went through rehab and had a great girlfriend and seemed happy. Things kinda fell apart with the girlfriend and that sent him back off the wagon. He had been sober for 2 years when I first met him and I have seen him go months with out drinking, when we first started church he was completely staying clean. I'm proceeding with caution and praying praying praying. I'm still happily single and waiting for a man that God sends, not this one that I am trying to pry from the devil...

Oh and you can substitute applesauce for oil in some recipes.

First of all....  :pound: :pound: :pound: Mini and Seth for the snide comments about my toil and struggle. Not only did they childproof the donut boxes, they put 'em on a high shelf that I can't reach. :-(  It's every bit of five feet tall!  :laughhard:

And next of all- I got through the day anyway. Had a bit of an issue with my human side after hearing more news of my friend who's having mental issues.  Apparently he had a complete meltdown  this morning and is currently enroute to a facility that may can help him. It feels terrible to watch something like this happen to a close friend and know there's nothing you can do to stop it. I'm not used to not being in control........ All I can do is leave it in God's hands, which is where it belongs anyway.

And nextly- ISG, I'll be praying for you. I admit worrying a bit myself for you when I read the post about you going to visit him..... None of my business, but seeing how much you've posted about where God brought you from is an awesome testimony, and in my line of work, I've had occasion to see more than one person fall after going back to old associates.

Oh, and Isaac- Thanks for the p.m. I can't reply right now because of this ding blasted steam powered antique. It'll let me post but not p.m. On another board, it'll let me p.m. but not post. I think it's just proving to me that it is smarter than I am. :laughhard:

Believe it or else I briefly considered an android phone just for music playing while I'm at work.  I quickly scrapped that idea though, as battery life on even the most long-lived smart phones is abysmal.

When you read reviews on phones, you'll get some people that say, "Horrible battery life" and some that say "Awesome battery life".....along with everything else....some people hate it, some people love it...everything is that way....  That's why you can't hardly pay much attention to anything anybody says.  :smirk2:

No, I was looking up tech specs.  Cnet is great for that.  And I couldn't find any smartphones with battery life even equal to a low-class media player, so buying an android phone just to play music is out.

*Hugs* ISG.

Drinking coffee. Pretending to be a mature adult, so the boys won't guess I'm still sick and wanting to crawl back into bed. Bah humbug.

Had a lovely day yesterday, though. It was Chris's day off, so he took us all out to a park with paths by the river/stream, and we moseyed for a while. It was my first adventure out after dealing with this horrid bug that's been hanging on, so I REALLY enjoyed the sunshine. I definitely wasn't breaking any speed records on the trail ;) and had to stop and rest and whatnot, but my guys were good with that. Came home worn out, but in a good way for a change. Which, as Chelbertina says "good tired is refreshing". :)

Feels like the quiet before the storm..lol

My lists are made.  Now waiting for Friday morning so I can get to the store & start cooking. Family of 7 staying Fri.night i'm so excited!  And the mom just found out she is gluten intolerant too so I'm making some GF pumpkin bread!

My secret special Lasagna for the Gateway kids on Sat.night.

I know I talk about cooking a lot, I make a lot of pies & such.  But as a SAHM on a budget, I don't have a lot to contribute to world's really until my kids are grown & also contributing to society.  So.. I bake. I make things for those who I feel need the attention/love.  I pray for them while I'm cooking, it's not just another dish.

Remember our new friend Ray? Well he got a 2nd job so he can move his mom up here as well. He works till 2am on wknds & has missed  church a service or 2.  So a carmel pecan apple pie last night.  No one gets to fall through the cracks on my watch

We had our first youth service tonight.

When we got home, I told my wife, "I'm glad Roscoe wasnt here tonight...hew woulda killed someone during the icebreaker."  You see, it was basically fishing with donuts.

Heres how to do it:

Tie a donut to a string and the string to a pole. Then have someone lay on the floor. The other person has to hold the pole so that the person laying on the floor can try to eat the donut without using his or her hands. The first team to eat the whole donut wins. (It's really harder than it sounds.)

He woulda looked like 4' 8" fish flopping around trying to get the donut.

Don't babies "breath" in the amniotic fluid?

Went to Bro. Weir's.  Sat around and talked to them a long time afterwards, about construction stuff, as well as just random tales in general.  He's plenty windy.  *cough*  :hypocrite:

They happened to have a missionary there which we're going to have Saturday.....  I had already just been asked by the missions director if we wanted to have them, and hadn't responded the query yet, but went ahead and told them tonight while they were there.....  The Azars, from Lebanon.

We had our first youth service tonight.

When we got home, I told my wife, "I'm glad Officer Roscoe wasnt here tonight...hew woulda killed someone during the icebreaker."  You see, it was basically fishing with donuts.

:pound: My team would definatly have won. There is no place a donut is safe when I am around.

Morning all. Back at work. And my wife just informed me that I will be spending around  $100 I don't have this evening. Her car has developed a knot on the sidewall of one of it's tires. Of course, it is not one of the new tires I just put on with a warranty- oh, no, it's all me. Kinda irritated about this..... :waving:

SHARING:  I just discovered an interesting song by Don Fransisco.  It recounts the story of Balaam, with emphasis on God using the donkey to get through to the soothsayer.  What was most interesting about it was the end.  Don winds up the tale by saying something along the lines of:

So don't let your head get all puffed up
When God uses you
He could have used the dog next door
If He wanted to

Yeah, babies practice "breathing" in the amniotic fluid. That combined with a developing diaphragm can contribute to hiccups. It's really weird feeling.

Howdy y'all.

SHARING:  This is my gadabout day.  Gotta pay the light bill in one town, phone bill in another town, and both towns are opposite each other with my town in the middle.  We need some kind of bill paying station that they can put in each town and it routes money where it needs to go.

We will not be required to work tomorrow so I think I might try something new.  If it turns out well I'll let you know what it was.

Think I've narrowed my problem with Rusty down to a thermostat. I hope. And I've got a huge pot of vegetable beef soup on cooking. I goofed around and thawed out too much ground  beef for it, and since I don't trust refreezing meat that's been thawed, I cooked all of it- around two and a half pounds. It's all in the soup, so maybe I'm having beef soup- not so much vegetables. :biglaugh: It'll be done when Lou gets home and I might even cook a pan of cornbread....

Could be worse, Jenn. You could work for them, instead of them working for you.  :P Or you could have me, Mini, and S.eth working for you....

And I know how you feel. Just got back in from the truck repair. It wasn't the thermostat. It was a hose collapsing, so I've gotta take it apart again. I'm not even fit company for myself right now.

And ST, Miata had to go. It just wasn't me... no way to make it match my outfits, it just wasn't coordinating. So, much like you ladies' purses- it had to go. :laughhard:

Must be why it's so sunny here.  They're driving all the storms to wherever this forum is hosted on whatever server.

Me, I've been keeping fairly busy today.  The thing I said I was going to try, I tried, and it seems to be turning out well.  Also I went to get a haircut and raided a couple of thrift shops for old CDs and cassettes.  At the price they had I got all the christian groups I had never heard of (and some I had heard and knew I liked.)  Wound up with more than 20 cassettes to run off to computer (if I like them) and more than 10 CDs for about $32 all told.   Now I'm about to take a shower and get all this cut hair off me while the thing I am trying is baking.  After the thing I'm trying is done I'll go to the church and vacuum, then type the bulletin for tomorrow.  And I still can't see what I'm typing so I hope it turns out with no typos...

Plus, you could understand what they were singing.

My idea of perfect music is anything where the singer actually knows and feels what he is singing about.  I have heard secular music that sounds better than some christian, even some southern gospel or choir, because the secular singer was singing about something he cared about where the christian singer was singing something he thought would sell an album.  Mind you I stick to christian music, but it's all kinds of different styles.

My idea of perfect music is something that comes from the heart, sung about God or to God.  I have found this in every style of christian music I have ever heard.  Thus I have many different styles in my collection.

Speaking of which, ever heard of Pete Orta?  Found a CD of his last week in the thrift store, "Born Again."  Not bad.

And by the way, I said I would tell you what I was trying out today if it turned out well.  It did turn out well, so I'll tell you what it was.  Whole wheat sourdough cinnamon rolls.

I like to make sourdough cinnamon rolls, I like to eat them, but all that white flour gums up my guts.  I can't eat more than one at a time.  On the other hand I could eat 8 peaches or drink a half gallon of grape juice with no trouble, so I guess it's all in what you're used to.    So these are whole wheat, they just came out of the oven and they are gooooood!

Buncha weirdos.  :smirk2:

Went to town and got chicken feed and such, etc.  Came home and hauled a hay bale up to the cows without getting killed.....  Went to the church and worked a bit....  Came home and went to church for church.  Crowd was terribly short, but we had the Azars, missionaries from Lebanon.

Home....eating...or just finished eating anyways...I have to tend the fowl...they're probably starving to death and dying of thirst.

Could use some prayers. Preaching in the morning. Really feeling this message but, also feeling inadequate to do it justice. Pray God takes over and uses my inadequacies. I also have an assignment due tomorrow that is stressing me A LOT. Pray I get it done and do well.

Thanks for the prayers in advance.

Ah, so that's why there's one missing.

Apparently my grandma likes these cinnamon rolls I experimented with.  At this church on the 4th Sunday night after service we meet-and-eat.  I took all the cinnamon rolls that resulted from the experiment, minus what we had already eaten, and I was going to take them to church for tonight after church.  Grandma kept asking "Are you taking ALL of them?  Not going to leave just a few?"  I kept having to reassure her I could make more, they're a lot easier to make than sourdough bread, it would be okay.  This was repeated multiple times before I could get out the door.

I have to admit, they are pretty good.  Gonna have to do this one again.   :fork:

I'm slightly bummed.  Just found out that the song I've been picking at last week, that the music director said we needed a soundtrack for, we don't need anymore. She found a whole project that she wants to do.  It's not really her fault... she was thrown into this and was scrambling in red-alert mode, trying to figure out what to do.  But I'm still a bit put out.

I'm thinking of continuing on this song though, as it would be a great learning experience for me.  But I can't imagine who would sing it.  Brooklyn Tabernacle's "His Plan" is the song, and it's more of a choir song than something for a solo.

Phooey.

By the way, forum seems fixed.  I can see what I'm typing now.  Doesn't improve content apparently, but at least I can fix typos now.

Lord....met the excavator/concrete guy...he's supposed to do stuff this week.....now I'm all frazzled hoping this is the best way to go about it....  And worried that we'll hit water when they dig the cistern hole....cause they did when they put the septic system in.....  Which is ironic, putting in a cistern because you don't have enough water, yet if you dig a hole it fills with water.....but the crux of it is, that the well does not meet demand in dry spells, so we need something that will allow us to not have to dip water out of the baptistry with a bucket to flush the John....

Which as I was about to type that last statement, it came to me, "Boy, that gives new meaning to the term "John the Baptist."  lol

:biglaugh:

Yes, we'll have to keep water hauled to keep the cistern filled....but....you have to haul water to fill the baptistry to flush the pot with anyways....and at least if it's running into the plumbing from a source the toilet will do it's own flushing sans bucket.  :smirk2:

Lord.  Never seen the like.

But then I think to myself...well, wait, maybe we should've drilled a new deep well instead of what we've got and instead of a cistern?!?  :reaction:

I just hope we can get the thing set....and if they hit water, that they can still get the stupid thing socked in there appropriately in the muddy hole.

In other news, I AM GOING TO BE CRIPPLEDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!  :reaction:  Lord, I painted and it about killed me.....  Part of it is done, but part of it I am going to do a second coat on....and then I still have to paint the outhouses.....

I'm going to die.

DIE I said!!!!!!!!!

Pardon the lengthy rant, I had no other outlet for most of the day to unload on, except for the stupid wasps and bees of various sorts I had to keep killing.

ISG- praying for you...
Chicken King- you have my sympathy. But not my help.  :P
Taco- I don't envy you, I've got a storage building that is the priority for my next day off.... last time I looked in it, I found cancelled checks from the '70s of Mama and Daddy's. Why they kept them nearly 40 years, I have no clue. I am apparently descended from terminal pack rats, and I am struggling to combat that habit- and failing mightily according to Lou. :laughhard: Don't know why she thinks that. My oldest magazines only predate our wedding by a couple, three years and we've just been married 8 years.

And in other news, rusty is finally fixed- for real this time, the shop's clean again, and -bittersweet- I am drinking a Mexican coca-cola. The last coca-cola of my supply Mini brought me when he bought Sam. It'd been gone, too, if Lou and Chey hadn't forgot about the shop fridge. I've got one lonely Dr. Pepper left, now- and it's under lock and key. :laughhard:

Hey five-oh, about those cinnamon rolls... I only wish I had some left to send and/or eat.  I took them to church but when I saw all the other stuff that had been brought - chess squares, tuna sandwiches, hot dogs, chocolate cupcakes, etc - I thought nah, nobody will even touch what I brought with all this other stuff here.  Yeah, right.  I didn't get any back, not a single one.

At least I know they are good according to other people, not just myself.  Definitely gonna have to do this one again.

I like to make stuff people like.  Wholesome?... one of the things I do that goes over best is chocolate chip cookies, with flour, oat flour (oatmeal in a blender), a chocolate bar blended up in the flour... not exactly wholesome.  And then there's the fudge revel bars.   :smirk2:

I just did whole wheat sourdough cinnamon rolls because the ones made with white flour gum up in my insides.

Well.

Chicken King is still alive I see...

I have dropped dad off at work, he has some funerals today, and then picked up an application to fill out, came to McDs to eat Breakfast, caught up on FB and GP, and now I'm fixing to head to the bank, then church to take inventory of the snack bar, then pay some bills, get gas, then Walmart to buy a heater and some snacks for the snack bar, back to the church to re-stock, then back home.

How's that for a run-on sentence? ;)

Later I'll have to come back into town and pick dad up from work.

I might squeeze some GP time in there somewhere if yall do something interesting.

*HUGS* to all!

So I'm not going to go through everything because frankly it's a headache to do so. I even changed profile views and it's still all wonky.

My pup is sick. Like really sick. Like I may have to decide to put her down sick. I'm kinda heartbroken about it. She won't eat but when she randomly does it's not staying in for long. It's a mess.

I haven't been back to church in about 3 weeks. At least not pentecostal church. I love gossipers. Especially when it's people in authority at the church. It's awesome. [please note sarcasm].

Still not test results even though my blood results were supposed to be back last week.

It's just amazing to me that people KNOW there are calves in the calving barn but don't think to save enough pasteurized milk to feed them. So then we got through twice as much colostrum. *sigh* Then I got all slimed up moving just born calves. They are slippery little buggers! THEN had to go back and finish up the work that someone else didn't. Plus I milked the treated cows by myself....

Did anyone understand any of that?

ISG - Not really. But I'm sorry it was crummy. :(

*does something interesting, just for Mel*

Do you ever have a billion and one thoughts flying through your head all at the same time, with no way to put them into words and share them with someone else? Mostly 'cause it's a horrid mix of both good and bad, and there doesn't seem to be any way to extricate the two and make any sense out of it all? Yeah, I'm so there.

So.

I shall just say Happy Tuesday, everyone! :hi: ...and leave it at that for now.

That's why sometimes I just don't say anything.  It's either not interesting, not "uplifting" or just too personal to share. :smirk2:

/me raises hand, yes, I understand it...

Why do you feed the calves pasteurized milk though rather than just regular old milked out milk?

Lord....I. am. never. going. to. be. done. with. all. I. have. to. do.

Painted second coat on the part of the church I wanted to second coat, and painted part of one outhouse...lands sakes, takes foreverrrrrrr....mercy.....   Wasps are crazy thick everywhere.....fit them all day....insanity....

Dropped a screwdriver to the bottom of the well trying to get the old pump out of there to see what it looked like so maybe I can figure out what I need to get for the cistern....  There was a frog swimming in there too...but I didn't drop him in there.  :smirk2:

Hepp me Lord.

ISG - Yes I understood it.   I have never been on a farm to the best of my knowledge but somehow I know enough about it to understand what you said.  It's odd the bits of info I have stashed in the junkyard I call a brain.

SippinTea - I don't understand what you said at all.  But then I guess that's why they say men are waffles, women are spaghetti.

Se.th:  Sorry to hear that.  If I were closer I'd help but I ain't so I can't.

Everyone else:  Howdy y'all!

SHARING:  Went to work, came home.  For some reason I brought my laptop and a lot of CDs I still needed to rip to computer, and it's a good thing I did because the generator on one furnace line kept going out and we wound up giving up on it and shutting it down... which meant I had much time on my hands, so I used it ripping CDs and labeling the tracks.  11 CDs in all, copied to computer, labeled, in order and ready to play out tomorrow at work.  :D  And it's perfectly safe because the boss said I could.

HeatherB:  I'm afraid you'll find gossips at any church you go to.  They are in every church around here.  The only way I have found to deal with it is to live a life that makes their gossip a lie.  Some people will believe the gossips anyway - mostly people who have no lives of their own, so they live other people's lives vicariously through gossip - but the important people, the people who will matter to your future, will see you as you are and ignore the gossip.

I believe it.  When I worked at Taco Bell we had a habit of taking cinnamon sugar, sour cream, three-cheese blend, put it on a crispy pizza shell and melted the whole mess in the steamer... and it was good!

But then cream cheese icing and cinnamon rolls taste good too, so I should have known it would work before I tried it.

There's a 30ยฐ difference between yesterday & later today. I'm so thankful for the long autumn we've had this yr. Some years it's snowing by now. I think we're crossing into winter now though.

Cold, rainy day. I just want to go back to bed & let Jesus take care of the challenges of parenting. But it's mine to bear & as challenging as it can be, I don't want to actually have God take away me being a parent. So, "take this burden from me"  prayer doesn't apply here.

Also, found a unwelcome lump on my body. I'm the first eldest girl in like 5 generations to not get cancer, and get it young.  I'd like to keep it that way. So this lump needs to take a hike!

Making another apple pie today.

My pup has parvo :(

We've caught it way early and she's had at least 2 of her vaccinations against it (normally dogs get 3 between 8-16 weeks then an adult booster that past a year). Also working at the vets office has greatly helped. Downside is my lack of sleep taking care of her and now worried about her has made me an easy target for the gorilla (or at least that's what I'm gonna call them to protect their identity. If she starts yelling at me today there will be tears and a slew of employees to back me up.

Mi'lady, you are very late.  Christmas started when October started, at least in many stores.  There are no massive holiday crowds yet, but they sure have the decorations and advertisements up.

Speaking of crowds... it's getting close to that magical time of year when you really need to have stocked up on everything you might possibly need from Wal-Mart for the next month and a half.  Because it really stinks to have to stand in line for half an hour for a pack of toilet paper.

To answer Se.th's question... We pasteurize the milk because it's the milk from the sick cows (mastitis, on antibiotics) and the cows that are about to be sold for dog food. The old cows! We call them treated and bed pack. So to get out any of the "bugs" we pasteurize it.  We feed like 30-40 calves twice a day...:) We being..not me...:p

Ooooh, okay.  Interesting.

Well, went to town, accomplished a thing or two, but not all that I needed....can't get any straight answers from some people...ugh.....  I wish I was a genius in all things and didn't need any outside info...make it easier...bah.

Aggravated that the weather was nice most all day when I could've painted had I had paint and thought it wasn't going to rain right away.....bah....  They started excavating some for the concrete slab at church....didn't tell me they were gonna, tried to call verifying some stuff and didn't get anybody.....trying to get all the ducks in a row on this cistern fiasco....

It's like herding cats, as they say....

And I'm having muscle spasms, or a rib out of place or something, ever since I left the BMV.

Arrg! I get 40+ miles from home this morning and Lou calls to tell me her stupid car battery is dead. And the only vehicle drivable is Rusty and she's taking him.  :o I just fixed him, but haven't had a chance to do a long road test, so I can only hope he is fixed..... Needless to say, her ride to work in rusty has not been carefree like mine usually is, because I've been calling every ten minutes to check on the truck, er, her, to make sure there's no problems.
And when I get home, I think I'm gonna shoot that darn Cadillac for giving me an ulcer this morning.

These excavators and everybody are killing me....won't call me back and let me know what their plans actually are.  Are they going to do anything this afternoon?  Do it tomorrow?  Have they ever called the cistern people?  The cistern people won't answer any of the questions I ask them.

Quit talking about the S word, you dirty mouthed bunch of heathens.  :nono:

Been at the church washing windows and such.... :smirk2:  Washed the one over the stair well that hadn't been washed for years....because you have to defy death and gravity to get to it....(most of the others hadn't been washed for ages either, but that one even moreso lol).... You have to lay boards across from the window sill to the railing around the staircase, and it's horrifying.... climbing out there on it...lol

Eating....  Gotta get ready to go to church in a few....

Shrewby, yes, she does sell photos.  You can look up Deborah Carmichael Photography on FB.

Cow peeing on a flat rock....

Ya know I don't think it matters where the cow pees...It's all about gravity.....pretty much the same with most kinds of cow feces.

Silly cows!

But if it was on tall grass or something, for example...it would diffuse it a lot more than a flat rock would....

Oy.....

Having a hard time of work & life lately...on some issues. Getting super tired of praying for things to change & get better, and they keep either staying the same or getting worse. Happy for people whose prayers are being answered, but ready for some of my own victories.

Other than that.. I'm so very ready for retail holidays to be over! I cringe when people get excited about Black Friday and Christmas! Long days and nights ahead! Lol

Went to work, came home.  Today has been a long day even before work.  A fun day, but a long day.  I will sleep well tonight.

Tomorrow looks like another long day, with Saturday even longer.  But both are going to be fun and profitable (not money profit, getting-good-things-done profit) so it's not a bad kind of long day.

Title: Re: How Many Chickens Are In Your Crate? Count 'Em In Sharing 448.
Post by: mini on October 28, 2011, 07:11:26 PM
Bricked means its good for nothing...basically a brick, doorstop, but no longer a phone.

A hard brick is something you cant recover from.  I soft bricked it (you can recover if you hold your mouth just right, sacrifice three chickens, while standing on your head and have a hard rock polka band in the background playing thriller on their accordions), and had to completely wipe my phone out and start over.

Went to the church, nothing was going on.....  Took a nap in a pew for a while waiting till it warmed up a bit more and then I continued painting on the outhouses.....

Stewed all day over the concrete guy, kept checking messages.....not hearing anything from him....  Threatening him in my mind....pawning his backhoe, taking it home with me, selling it, firing him, burying him in a big hole that I'd dig with his backhoe.....  Finally he left me a message later with plans to work on Monday.....giving things time to dry out and waiting till after weekend services....   I can understand the waiting for it to dry out more, but COMMUNICATE THESE THINGS TO ME AND CALL ME WHEN YOU SAY YOU'RE GONNA!!  I have to get the cistern people to bring that thing out here when it's ready to set, I have to get everybody on the page and no one is helping the process.....  But anyways.....

I've gotta run to the funeral home now.

:smirk2:

Not for anyone I killed.  My great aunt passed away.

Merning Roscoe.

Less than 24 hours after crashing my phone (nearly) grave yard dead (and nerdly, or nearly, having a stroke because of it), bringing the sorry thing back to life with some sort of computer voodoo, reinstalling a stock OS on it (Android 2.1), upgrading the aforementioned stock OS to the latest release OS from Samsung (Android 2.2), I have once again rooted my phone, installed a custom rom on it, and am currently pleased with myself.   And I am now running Android 2.3.7 (gingerbread).

One thing I just realized that is a HUGE improvement over anything I ran before.  If you have a Android phone and accordingly wipe it out, as soon as you sign into you Google account on Gingerbread, it reinstalls all your apps!

Someone's playing "whack a mole" with my life!! So ready for naptime...hopefully I can manage to take one between jobs today. I am so very hopeful that I won't have to work every minute of my married life in order to live....not that I'm not willing to do so, just pray we can get some footing on this life. I'm so tired of working constantly and having to micromanage to get any time off.... I even missed the church-wide hayride Friday cause I had to work..missing outreach today because of work. :( I didnt find out about the hayride in time to ask off...which made me sad. I'm so ready to marry, move, and get a new (awesome) job. :).

Naptime = highlight of day/weekend

I'm at the church. Got some things to do on the Internet and stuff before the kids get here and we take them to the corn maze.

I'm wearing socks that Chel gave me on my feet, and a hat that Ruby made me on my head! I am loved from head to toe today! ;)

Both have Duckies on them, imagine that! ;)

Just ate lunch, now I'm fixing to go talk to Granny in the Sanctuary for a few then head upstairs to get online with the laptop so I can sync my phone and other various things...like look for a poster for a Christmas present for a certian someone... :freaky2:

What started as a great day got sour, then great. Sour because that new radiator that I just put on the '46 is leaking and will have to be taken out again. That'll be the fourth time this year the radiator's out if you are keeping count. If it was in anything else, I'd simply trade the vehicle. :laughhard:

Now for the "great" part- I get in in a slightly foul mood, check the mail and find a totally unexpected package. No return address, but the state it is postmarked from, and the contents, betray its sender....... IT. MADE. MY. DAY! And the person that sent it should know that the contents are being very much enjoyed, and I must say that if they have an equal, I've not found it. And for what it's worth, it brought a tear to my eye....just the thought, much less the action. Made me feel like I have friends...  :waving:

The place I work is RIDICULOUS with drama and gossip! A dairy farm of all places...who would have thought.  Seems my uncle (who owns the farm I work at) went to visit my mom (who I tell EVERYTHING). They had a nice long talk about what's been going on and who has been saying what. Thanks Mom! I woke up to hateful text messages from my "aunt". She's a seemingly great lady that married my uncle and I've befriended her. Well this is time number 2 that she's turned on me and bad mouthed the family to her family. I know my family isn't always wonderful but I've defended her this whole time. Only to find out some of the things that she's said about me behind my back...*sigh* Why do I always try to be nice to the people everyone else is mean to? Wouldn't I think there is a reason everyone else avoids them?

I don't want to go to church today...but I'll go...hopefully it makes me feel better!

I am trying to understand what your church is like, Heather.

Apostolic charismatic is an oxymoron.  True Apostolic naturally has moves of the Spirit with the gifts in operation.  Charismatic in religious label mimics or had elements of that but lack actually practicing the practicalities of the NT.

Ros.coe - As if I need *another* singer/group to buy CDs of... or "of whom to buy CDs" if your mom was an english major as was mine.  :P
I'll investigate, and thanks.

MellowYellow:  I dunno, my pastor has charisma in spades.  :D

At the risk of sounding like Cheese.... I'm ready to kill someone. Or something. I'm going to forget I ever saw a car and buy a horse to ride. No, scratch that, with my luck I'd get bucked off and break my neck. The battery on Lou's car apparently is tired of working. I figured $70 would get me a new one at WallyWorld and life would be good. Nay, saith the world against me. Walmart doesn't sell it, and the cheapest the parts store had was $166- before taxes. :o
Fortunantly in my junk I have a good battery. It's not as many cranking amps, but maybe it will do. God, PLEASE let that be the only issue. I can't handle much more this week!

I can barely walk this weekend.  I feel like my age has been inverted and my body is suddenly 82 and I'm grumbling about my sciatica as I walk bent over sideways.  I don't know what a pinched nerve feels like but if I had to guess, I'd say it was this.

I'll call a doctor tomorrow... do I call a doc or a chiropractor? its been hurting for weeks but only minor, ignorable pain.  why does debilitating pain have to happen on a weekend where I can't get it looked at for days?  I had so much to do this weekend, spent a good percentage of it on the couch.

Isaac  I so enjoy a personality with charisma.  However we're talking in context of religious description... I think.. Lol.

It can get kind of blurry, regardless of dictionary definition.  The phrase completely threw me off. I'm always interested in the personalities of other churches, and if it's conducive/applicable to encourage others that there are apostolic churches that are ALIVE & kicking in case they have been given a different impression.

Mary, I think a chiro might be the best bet.

p/s  I can't find the spell check option anymore, so forgive me if I spelled Cadillac wrong.

What does "noob" mean?

I was feeling all up to date just knowing what a "tool" was.  LOL
Title: Re: How Many Chickens Are In Your Crate? Count 'Em In Sharing 448.
Post by: Lynx on October 31, 2011, 01:55:46 AM
"Noob" is a leet version of "newbie," as in one who is new to something.

What is leet?  Leet is a form of "elite," originating from people who know (or think they know) a lot about computers, and look down on people who do not know a lot about computers.  Proper spelling is not even "leet," it is "1337" (1337 = numerical version of leet.  Using numbers and keyboard symbols in place of real letters is called leet speak, or rather, 1337 sp33k.)

And I knew what you meant about charismatic churches.  It was funnier my way though.  :D

Mary, sounds like you need a chiro visit to me. Sorry you're hurting! Hope it's much better tomorrow!

Bob, sorry your week has been crummy. And I totally understand about being fed up with vehicle issues.

My little(?) brother and sister are going to be staying with us for a few days while mom and dad are out of town! :bigcheese: I'm not sure our town can contain this much fun. :bigcheese: The boys are completely enamored with the idea of having David here for almost a week, and I'm going goofy at the thought of having another female around for a few days.

Howdy!

God has given me another year.

By the way some count, 2011 has not been my lucky year. My mother passed away, after I had shuffled back and forth between work, hospitals and nursing homes the last three months of her life. I had bronchitis/pneumonia like stuff on one or more occasions. I have burned my left hand with two second degree burns this year, and had it get three infections at the same time. I lost a chunk of skin off the bottom of my right foot almost two months ago. My writing business is way down.

But, rather, I had my mother in my life for 46 years, and 45 of them were good ones. I'm a diabetic, but God has given me 15 years since I was diagnosed, and  I still have all my limbs and body parts. I can still walk, and move, better than some half my weight. I work in a business I love, and January will be 28 years since I began

The reason is God has blessed me, and been merciful to me. I can still feel the Spirit, 21 years after being filled with the Holy Ghost, and Baptized in the Name of Jesus!!

I have friends and loved ones who care about me, including you here.

John the Blessed

Congrats on another year my friend. May this  be a better one, and mayhap it will be the one in which I finally get to meet you....

And  Pf, I can't complain too much about the Caddy, given the way Lou drives it. It's not had anything MAJOR act up (knock on wood), it's just the little things that happen to all vehicles are doing so all at once, on all of my vehicles. I'm still very blessed to have what I do..... And this morning the spare battery did the trick. The Caddy started like new.

No exercise
No sitting on the couch
No sitting on anything soft
No crossing my legs
No heat on the area

Rickshaw I tell you.....

So I went and painted the rest of the paint up that I had...one tiny spot on the outhouse left....  Gotta get more paint....still need more for the ramp and steps anyways but would've been nice to not had a spot left on the outhouse.....

AND....those morons are not working on anything today....and he never called me to tell me any different.

Why is everybody such a bunch of idiots?

When trying to get prices on stuff, most people acted like they were totally put out by having to give you a price and like they just didn't want any work to do.  These people that are supposed to be the ones doing it actually acted like they would like to have the job.... But now that they are supposed to have it, communication about what in the world he's planning to do is total poop.

I am mad at the stupid moron and want to kick his shins.

So when will I learn that when someone's on my mind, it's never just a random imaginary thought?  I'll find out later that they were having a crummy day or something happened. I'm too conscience of trying not to be over spiritual about things that I miss some spiritual things!

Also now that I've been cleaning the church again, making some extra $$, I love that I get to pay tithes. Still don't hardly have 2 pennies to rub together at the end of the day but it can really stink that it seems I am so limited in what I can give, ME, not my family or husband but me. Yay for being able to do my part!

Chicken & dumplings for dinner.  who wants some?

Everyone else:  Went to work, came home.

On a SHARING note:  Am I out of the loop or what?  On "lunch" break (20:00 by the time clock, or 8 pm for normal people) I went to Subway to pick up supper.  I noticed a lot of traffic in town, bunches of people walking down the sidewalk.  I wondered if there had just been a parade or somethi... Oh yeah, it's Halloween.

Well I have no kids, there are no kids with whom I have daily contact, this house is much too far out in the country to get any trick-or-treaters and I certainly don't go trick-or-treating myself.  I just didn't bother keeping up with it.  Yeah...

Someone should be fired. :smirk2:

All it tells me is that because of commercialism, the season celabration is shortened.  Who cares if not everyone wants to listn to it this early or long. It's replacing stupid rock stations' lustful & rebellious junk for 2 whole months, transforming the air a little bir more light hearted & sentimental.

Pandora will have to do.

Warning: rant ahead

If one more person gives me words of doubt and faithlessness today, I may very well take their head off! There aren't even words to describe how aggravated I am right now. For Christians to be spreading a lack of faith, and doubt in God, and a distrust of His promises... IT'S WRONG, I TELL YOU!! And I'm so past wanting to put up with people doing it. Since life and death are in the power of the tongue, and since we all know (at least a little bit) of how powerful words can be... for pity sakes! let's try to encourage each others' faith instead of tearing it down!

/rant

That being said, my God is always faithful. And since He can take care of our everyday problems, I'm pretty sure He's going to help me to NOT take someone's head off. ;)

*Psalm_97 sends his pet ferret in behind the couch to ferret out any lurkers.

SippinTea, I know the feeling.  There will always be "christians" who do that though.  There are a few things you can do:
- Keep your own perspective straight and upbeat;
- As much as possible, avoid the grumps... Deal with them if you have to with no ill effects, but if you choose to hang around them they'll get you down;
- If you feel led to admonish a brother or sister, do so in love, not in anger;
- In the meantime don't dwell on the grumps... that'll get you down as effectively as hanging around them.

Ruby, I understand how you're feeling.  Someone reminded me once that the church is triumphant. We choose to be aligned with it or not.   All of us have to get to the point where we are going to live for God singularly or not. Seems like a lot of folks are coming to that point of decision, lately. Gives us some things to pray about.

I'm so thankful for your kind prayers when I've been discouraged.  Thank you. Hugs
