...choose someone from GP to marry right now, who would you choose? Why?
Obviously, this is a pretty loaded question, and I'm cautious to even post it. lol However, I decided to do so. If you don't want to answer, then don't. If you do want to answer, then by all means, do. *grin*
Here are the conditions.
- This is limited to single GP members. Married people already made their choice. *grin*
- Mentioning someone is not a proposal.
- Mentioning someone is not a request for a date.
- Mentioning someone is not even necessarily an indication of interest in either of the previous two actions.
- I don't care (translated, "don't post") who you would not choose, or why.
- I don't care if you would choose no one and decide to stay single the rest of your life. :P
- This is completely hypothetical.
Have fun. *grin*
B
Hmm..
Mine's very easy.
I'd choose you, Brannon. I'm friends with you - online and offline. We've had our history, as I'm sure some might be quick to remember or point out, and I know what to expect! Not to mention an awesome family! :) (With the exception of the sometimes ornery Mikey, HAHA! Jk Mike.)
Yeah, I'd pick you, haha.

Aside from your professed love for Alana... Who are the other two, Seth? =oP
Don't forget Rae! Or is that old news?
BUNCHA CHICKENS!!!! BWUCK!
this is hilarious - this thread is totally asking for it
But since I love a ruckus... I'll take the bait on the following understanding: PURELY HYPOTHETICAL... guys, this means that of the handful of you listed below that I've had romantic rendevous with, discussed relationship possibilities, received proposals from etc. do not read into any comments below - if my answer was no, its still no. if we're over, we're over and I don't want you back. LOL however that doesnt negate that you're all marriage material in your own right for your own Miss Right or in the off chance of being the last man on earth - and, whatever you do, do not identify yourself! LOL this is asking for scandal enough without confirmed names. If you're a girlfriend of a name below do not fear, I respect girlfriends and do not steal, I do not want your man.
Now... I'm not picking one actually 'cause that wouldn't be fair... all my GP men are so very dear to me
So, sort of in order but not really...
I'll call this the I'd love you just the way you are list... BOL
Chris/tsalagi - seems like it would be impossible but I think Chris actually understands me, so I know he'd know what he was getting into LOL He'd take good care of me and I think we'd generally have a fabulous time together ;-) and I know he'd agree to be scruffy for me at times
John/Classicrambler - 'cause he's cute and has a tendency to be scruffy and I absolutely LOVE his family - it would be one of those busy/separate lives relationships though 'cause I'd never want to distract from his music... and that takes all the time LOL
Brannon/GlassDarkly - We could hug a lot ;-) and he's another scruffy-on-demand man
Brandon/nwlife - He's a sweetie and I think would be a caring/doting husband & father - and he could write me lots of poetry and who wouldn't like that??
Anthony/Ant - we could travel the world together laughing and I could give away the punchlines to his jokes (but only sometimes) and he could teach me how to enjoy lone quiet evenings
Richard/lojack - ahhh what can I say... he can cook, has an impressive array of spices and seems like we'd have lots fun together ;-)
Now, this is the I'd love you almost the way you are list... I'd have to have access to the internal personality switchboard and change a few (or a lot) things first... LOL
Vince/World Traveler - seems like would be a great and fun guy but obviously I cannot have him lusting after my redheaded friends
John/Newsman - What a dear, I know he'd be kind and caring and probably spoil me completely rotten - I'd simply just have to make him younger
John/wire2john - I'm sure we'd talk on for hours on end and have fun debating and fight like cats and dogs but have a great time LOL and I think he'd know how to spoil me too ;-)
Seth/Chseeads - I think we'd learn to get along and he'd be a good dad - would just have to convince him to give up bachlorhood - ya know... "its to save the planet seth! you're the last man!" ":smirk2: " *humans and the planet die*
Trav - makes the list 'cause he's nearby so I wouldn't have to leave my favorite city, doesn't hurt that he has a tendency to be scruffy and I really love his family
Did I miss anyone? LOL
*sits back to watch the chaos* :hypocrite:

To truthfully answer the question posed in the original post....
As of right now, if a girl posts on Godplace, then to me- I must consider her offlimits. It is a decision that unfortunately had to be made due to a situation some years back. Because of that situation, I watch too many of my friendships on GP die. I don't want to see that happen again. Though I don't really have what you would call a close friend on here anymore, I don't want to lose any aqaintances I have.
Not that there isn't a couple ladies here I could be interrested in if I had met them through another means, but I can't consider anyone from here at this time. Given time, I might re-consider, but it had better be someone I think is really special and that I can't get out of my mind. And it isn't that I am not afraid to change my mind either.....I just don't see myself doing it at the moment.
So with that, I think I have answered the question.

So with that, I think I have answered the question.
Nope. You haven't answered the question, cuz the question started out "If you HAD to..." :-D
In reading a recent congratulatory thread of an unnamed bachelor, I had a sudden burst of inspiration!
There is one particular single gentleman who - it seems - would be easy to marry if it came right down to it...
He never expects his wife to cook for him.
He never expects his wife to clean the house.
He never expects his wife to do his laundry. As a matter of fact, he's not even sure she does her own.
He never expects his wife to go with him on really long road trips.
He never expects his wife to bait her own fishing line.
He never expects his wife to filet and cook the fish he catches.
He never expects his wife to meet him anywhere.
He never expects his wife to go to the hospital with him when he's sick.
Of course, low expectations like that wouldn't work for me, so I'll have to leave Sir Newsman up for grabs.
I hate to say it, but I'm the type that would like to be there for her husband in any way possible except maybe the fish-hook baiting thing and the fileting and cooking fish thing.
It seems to me that a man whose expectations are that low just might make an ideal husband for SOMEONE, though.
Of course, you know how men change after they're married. Some say it's pretty drastic. He might actually start enjoying having someone around and start expecting her to do everything he never expected her to do in the first place, so beware!
He's one happy man. He doesn't expect much so when it happens, he's surprised and happy. :hypocrite:
You know, they say a pessimist is never disappointed.

not the kind of answer this thread was looking for but at least its an honest answer and puts all of us GP gals on the same level.
my answer to considering marrying someone from GP would be the same as Brandon's answer only for different reason.
I don't think I could marry any of the single guys that I know post on GP becuase it would put him and I both in a situation of being unequally yoked. GP is predominately Oneness Pentecostal and through my years of studying and searching I've drifted away from Oneness Pentecostalism.

QuoteYour marriage?
Nah. Seth's.
i must not be very apostolic, because boring has never been an adjective applied to me. hhhmmm. . . . maybe it's more about how we perceive ourselves than how we are perceived . . or how we live out our perceptions of a title.
what makes one title more boring than another?
what makes life boring?
i think . . .that if you live life as fully as you can and experience all that God intends, then . . . life will not be boring. He came to give us life and that more abundantly. doesn't sound like a boring promise to me.

I'll definately agree with this. Living a life thats totally sold out to God is far from boring. Cookie cutters settle for what everyone else around them is doing and trying to fit into the crowd instead of going all out for serving God.

Still though, though each person may wear a little different style, or listen to a little different music, I still find that most of the apostolics are in one mold the same conformist mindset, just different icing- thus I would dare to say that almost (if not more than) 90% of apostolics are the cookie cutter mold. .....I don't want the same dough used as everyone else, I want someone who is their own totally different recipe. I don't want someone to just accept what they have been told all their life, but one who arrived at what the believed through study. *IF* they happen to fit the "normal" cookie cutter mold then, that is fine, but not just to be another walmart look alike version of the apostolic cookie line. A few years ago, I developed a crush (yes, 'tis true,) on a female television reporter I was covering a major trial with..she lived in Tulsa. Towards the end of the very long trial, we talked a bit of that topic, and she said "it would never work out..I don't do long distance relationships."
It was a nice way to let me down easy (she already had a boyfriend, so I offered to beat him up if she ever needed it,) :) but it's always interesting to see what people think of as long distance relationships..Tulsa was about 90 mies from work, 100 from home..just about the right distance, if you ask me.

John :waving:
Quote from: nwlife on February 05, 2008, 10:41:10 PM
Lady Newkris,
Brandon has actually travelled far more than I..he's worked in Utah, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Mississippi, I think.

There's only one single bloke who I know offline, who posts (sporadically) on GP; the ever-elusive Ant, who's currently abroad, how's the weather up there? Cold, I'm guessing.
The rest of those remotely withing my age bracket, don't know them well enough...and I've got issues with relationships, despite never having had one myself.
Hence I'm single, free as a bird until it come's time for me to be caged (I told you, I've got issues) but by then I'll be willing to be caged. (please note I'm joking about the whole 'caged' thing)

If you're waiting on John to answer the initial question, you're probably gonna be waiting a long time.
If he DOES answer, I would venture to guess that his list would be like Mary's and list all the reasons that he might consider some people for whatever reason so he doesn't leave anyone out or offend anyone. lol

Looking into her eyes,
what can I see
just the sun rising above the mountains
peering over the horizion ever so gently
the smile that she sends
burning down through the clouds
as they dance in the haze of the colors
of the morning sky
watching her hair being touched by the smallest breeze
a rememberance of the water flowing by the creek
just the way she clasps her hands
shows me the gentleness of the lamb
when I lean back and watch her gaze
into the distance what more can I dream
but only of walking with her
in the hills of Ireland or Wales
Now if I could just remember who she was.... :-?

I've also seen it live at the Cadillac Palace in Chicago. I agree. It's amazing! :thumbsup2:
B
I think most of the creepiness had to do with the fact that it was a Joel Schumacher/Andrew Lloyd Webber collaboration. The story is cool, though.
But it could have been better...

I like the earwax interpretation better!
:-?
I'm definitely not supportive of the earwax thing. I believe it's my constitutional right, as an old maid and as an upstanding citizen, to protest such vile treatment. :biglaugh:
Also, masked men make me want to hurt somebody and get all defensive and jazz. *doing my best wax on/wax off impression*

SSSHHHH, Leah.
I support the earwax candle business plan, however, I'm not sure about what candle scents to offer. ;)
Ear candles are ok - I've done them. I didn't have enough buildup for it to make an earth-shattering difference, though, so I can't really be counted as a testimonial. ;)
dude... my brother did!
It was NASTY when they opened the candle up afterwards! there were Balls of wax in there!

Can I make a pumpkin cake instead?
You'll have to ask Aaron. He doesn't seem too fond of cookies. *grin*

Not if we are discussing marrying someone from the board...you have to have a lingerie party!
