Okay, as most of you have saw in the current sharing thread, the idea of a meet up on Petit Jean Mountain in Central Arkansas has been floated...

I'd like to get an idea of how many might be interested and how many people would be attending. I'd also like to know what time of year would be best for the majority. Lou and I can both get off work fairly easily, as long as we have a month or so to put in for the time. :biglaugh:
For those of you that don't know much about Petit Jean, it is Arkansas' first State Park, and is, in my opinion, the crown jewel of the State, but I am prejudiced a bit. If you google Petit Jean Arkansas State Park, you will doubtless find all the infomation the park has to offer.
The park is located around 60 miles or so west of Little Rock. There are primative Campsites, cabins, a motel- pretty much anything you'd be interested in lodging wise and will vary wildly on price, with primative campsites being the cheapest, obviously. Cabins seem to run around $150 bucks a night and several of them will sleep 6 people or better.
I expect that most would want to come in on Friday, have friday, friday night and Saturday, then leave saturday evening/ night going home. You are, of course, welcome to fall in love with the area, buy a home nearby, and attend my church. And I'm not stealing sheep, just preparing the pasture should a lost sheep need refuge... :hypocrite:

And if you stay a day or so longer- that's alright too. Lou's and my home is around thirty miles or so from petit jean, and should it be needed, the shower, ect is available for you nuts.

For what it's worth, we are twenty miles from Conway (population over 50k) for shopping and Little Rock is about 60 miles away....
And God forbid , but if someone should want to fly into Little Rock, I would be happy to pick them up at the airport.
Last thing- What time of year is best for the majority? I'd say that March through late may would be best, but I AM planning a weekend trip near the end of May....

If interested, please post here that 1) you are interested
                                                   2) how many you would expect with you                                              3) whether you would be interested in cabins or motel.
I shall try to get with the motel and see if it's fit, open, and what their rates will be.....

I really hope this comes together....it'd be a blast to meet some of ya'll I haven't! :clap2:

Keep in mind that nothing is set in stone, so don't be afraid to post that you are interested, even if you don't know if it will actually be possible to attend.... I ain't putting any money down or anything like that yet, so no fear... :thumbsup2:

I will be flying in to the LR airport via my flying pig.  Please have a roomy pen and plenty of slop available for our arrival.

Since it's just a flying pig, you can just land on Petit Jean. There's a small private airport there that won't mind... :P
You might have an issue getting home, though. Bro Papa BBQ's any available pigs in the area, and Germ likes wings, I've been told... :laughhard:

We are interested. We would be 4-5 people depending on whether a friend also comes along.  We would go for a cabin or motel, probably depending on the cleanliness and price.

I love the idea of pitching all in for food and would love to get in there & learn a few southern cooking tips.

Definitely interested, just give me some warning so I can forewarn my boss.  I asked to be off work one day last year (grand total) and the benefit of asking off so rarely is that if you do need to ask off my boss will give you the time off, no question.

Primitive is relative for cabins.  Does it have a toilet?  A shower is not needed, I can take a shower before I leave and take one when I get back.

I'll be one, and my grandmother might come with me.  Chel can vouch for her, she's cool.  :)

Let me know how many decide to come so I'll know how much bread and thin-sliced turkey to bring.

The cabins, last I knew, were very nice, with bathrooms, showers and kitchens. I'll try to wander up there in the next week or so and find out what, if any, dates are booked, and particulars that might not be on the website. By primative, I was meaning tent camping, that sorta thing, and I know there is ample area for fifth wheels/ camper trailers/ motorhomes, should some want to do that.
And you'll know if it's a go and when, as soon as I do...

Oh, THAT.  I don't get that primitive.  Gimme some walls to keep critters out.

And thanks for starting this thread.  I thought one should be started on this, but never got around to doing it.  Inertia stinks.

No prob. When I realized that there were several interested, I figured it might be something we needed.... I'm really hoping we can get the perfect time so  You, Mini and family, Newsman, Mellow Yellow, The Newlyweds, Mel, and everyone else can come. It will be EPIC!  :thumbsup2:
Be nice if Birdman WOULD fly down,too...

If it comes to that, I could go by and pick him up... if he could get his parents to watch the birds for a while.

My parents are not capable of watching the birds.

Lynx

So you are stuck with birds that only you can tend, that require tending every day?  What happened to them while you were in the hospital?

I HOPE so Sarah!  I want to meet you!  Also, if our boys hit it off, Andrew won't feel like he's stuck with his little sis the whole time too.  lol

I wonder if I can talk my hubby into it.
Tell Cletus that, if Jeremy "clears" him, I'll let him take Rusty for a spin.... but he can't haul no yeller tractors in him...

Interested! BUT, it's doubtful we could make that big of a trip anytime in the next 4 or 5 months barring a miracle.

I do not have the cash flow nor a car capable of making that trip alone :( If the newlyweds were coming through I could possibly hop a ride and supply gas fundage but other than that count me out.

My sister fed them the best she could.

If you have gas money, go greyhound! Er... at least down to west TN, I can take six people with me (one might be my grandmother though.)

Or I could take an extra day off, go up to east TN, over to pick up Seth, then back down to AR.  Getting home would be a pinch though, I must be there Sunday.

Kids? Can we bring the kids?

If so 2 and a half peoples hopefully. If it's going to be decently warm do they allow tent camping anywhere close? :) I'd need a few weeks notice to get everything in order on this end and make sure whether it's a weekend we have the short person or not :)
I'm just me, round and bubbly like a lil honey bee!

Have you slapped that one dude from Indiana with a pie in the face today?

The Purple Fuzzy

I don't know.  I'll probably be using my vacation to help dina and the kids get to their next post.

ISG- Of course kids are invited. My little demon/angel will be there, and I'm sure that others that would attend will bring their kiddos.

I told Mel that I am so going even if I have to walk there and fast the entire time!
Anytimes a good time for me! I can call in DEAD if I have to  :chairspin:
I am so EXCITED I've been giggling for days!
I also started picking up pennies in parking lots I'm up to twenty bucks just from that!!!

I think the cabin sounds wonderful I will help cook and supply anything I can to make sure it comes out great!
At this point I would probably also go for hotel and tents... although I hate bugs I'm too excited to be worried...

Hmmm I may need to take out a loan I really wanna have a look around up there...
