I HATE SPIDERS!! COMPLETELY TERRIFIED OF THEM! If you don't look at but one picture, be sure you take a look at the first one so that you will know what the spider looks like! It's springtime & cleanup is going on. Be careful where you put your hands. They like dark spaces & woodpiles.  Also areas in the attic, in your shed. This guy was bitten by a Brown Recluse.

Day 5

Day 8

Day 10

They like the darkness and tend to live in undisturbed boxes, storage sheds or attics or other areas that might not be frequented by people or light. If you have a need to be in your attic, turn on a bright light and leave it on for about 30 minutes before you go in to do your work!

i know about 20 people that have been bitten by brown recluse's - infact, my uncle just got bit on the Neck a few months ago, and my close friend at work has been bitten Twice, once on each arm.  :o

thier pretty bad around this area, but thier different looking here than they are in the south...
Hebrews 12:12-16 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you

You have them that far North? I don't have much hope, do I?  EWWWWW those things scare me to bits.

Mrs. Yosemite

well if you've got one where you live that looks different, put us a pic of it on here. Those things travel!!
Where I live, there are spiders galore! Me and yosemite both have some kind of bites on our arms. Mustve been something that got in our bed!

Our sores dont look like that, but its pretty big red whelps that itch. I hate spiders!  :tantrum:

Melody

We had a guy here at church that got bit by one of those.  Bleh.

In Northern Virginia. I haven't seen any, but like black widows, they like it dark, and I don't go poking into dark corners much. But I DID go clean out my store room at the storage place last fall. I was in all kinds of dark boxes. *Shivers*

I got the heeby jeebies when Desert Flower (a former poster) told me she had black widows living under her deck. UGHHHHH

Heaven is spider-free, folks!

Mrs. Yosemite

I was living in a house that had vinyl siding. Those black windows liked it up un the the edges all around the bottom next to the foundation. I got some widow spider killer and squirted it all around the house. a few minutes later there was hundreds of dead widow spiders hanging in different positions. I gathered up a mason jar FULL of dead black widow spiders. Just think how many survived. BRRRRRR

Sis

NO thank you! *Shivers* Maybe I'll head back to Minnesota where it's too cold.

Mrs. Yosemite

Hey Sis, did you ever see those pictures of those Desert Spiders they have in Iraq?

Sis

YES!  Ish!  I am not afraid of regular spiders but thos poisonous ones and big ones can stay away from me.

I fell asleep in the chair waiting for Stevebert to come home and I was dreaming about spiders. *SHIVERS* eeeewwwwwww!

Mrs. Yosemite

<<<<<------- HATES SPIDERS! It doesnt matter how little. Even the little house spider's scare the vittles out of me! They can be as small as a tic-tac and they might as well be big as a house! A spider is a spider.  Allen has stated that I had spider senses. He calls me 'spidey' sometimes. I dont know how I do it, I guess it's cause I'm so afraid of them.

But a spider can be anywhere in the house or close to me and it's like I automatically know right where it is. I don't think it works when I'm asleep. But if I'm awake, I can even see them in the dark.  It's like I can see them even when they blend in with other things. Wherever there is a spider lurking, a jolt of fear goes thru me. My head turns & my eyes just involuntarily lock right on it like a heat seeking missle.

Isnt that weird?  I hope I'm not the only weirdo that does that. It's a little scary. :biglaugh: Did I mention I hate spiders?

Sis

Next time I go to the storage place, I'm taking you with me.  :laughhard:

Do the brown recluse spiders have a particular season when they're plentiful? Or are they year-round?

Mrs. Yosemite

I'm not quite sure. I hardly ever see a spider where it's cold. so they must really hide in cracks and crevices pretty far. I remember cleaning the church back in February and there was a box of old sunday school material that had been sitting back in a corner. I opened the box to see what was in it and what I thought to be a brown recluse came out of it. LIKED TO HAVE DONE A LITTLE SHOUTIN' MYSELF!

February is still pretty cold here in Mississippi so I figure they are year round. You just dont see that many spiders sprinting around till it turns warm.

One evening I was laying on the bed at my sisters house asleep. My niece and nephew thought it would be hillarious to put a rubber tarantula on my chest. I thought I felt something and I opened my eyes.

I caught a glimpse of that thing and I was so horrified that I slung it.  ( almost gave me a heart attack!) The mystery still to this day... We never found that rubber tarantula. Dont know where it went. It might be orbiting the moon. lol

There was a lady in our neighborhood who was really afraid of spiders and we tried to do that. Not when she was sleeping, when she was watching TV. We didn't know why she was so afraid of them but after she yelled at us kids, she told us that she had been bitten by a black widow and she is terrified of being bitten again.

Mrs. Yosemite

I think when I was little into my young teens, my parents always came home from the movie rentals with a scary spider movie. I remember watching Arachnophobia, Kingdom of the Spiders, and some others. Never can understand till this day why they did that knowing how terrified I am. But my mom is scared of them too. lol

One night we all were watching a spider movie and my mom was lying on the sofa under a cotton throw.
All of a sudden she came up off the sofa screaming bloody murder! Her toe had touched something soft and hairy!

It was a barbie doll that my little sister had  lost down between the sofa cushions.

Sis

:laughat:  That's what she gets for bringing home spider movies.   :laughhard:

Mrs. Yosemite

I looked up Arachnophobia in wikipedia website. I was reading the symptoms and I would say I definately have it. lol I guess that means I've got mental issues. lol >  :reaction:

Sis

Naaaaa! Just means you have a phobia. I have clausterphobia. I'm not nuts. Really! I'm not!  *Stomps foot* Well I'm not!

I dont like bugs, but I am not one of those screaming/hopping/running away types.
Have you slapped that one dude from Indiana with a pie in the face today?

Mrs. Yosemite

I have a cute little neice that can't say spider. she calls it sp-didders

okieoliveoyl

been there ... done that... got the scars to prove it.

those little varmits are HORRID!!!!!

when i got bit, we thought it was a nasty mosquito bite at first...then we realized it was prolly a spider.   Put a potato poultace (spell??) on it...and i really think that is what helped me alot!  drew most of the stuff out...but i ended up getting a shot of antibiotics and a tetnus shot and took antibiotics ( i had enough in me for like 5 people) to rid myself of that stuff.   It was gross...horrid...and i hope i never go through that again!
