He _might_ make a good father, if he ever decided dogs are better than cats

No, because he would only let his kids have two pieces of pie at dinner

No, because he would be too busy teaching his boys to fight, and would forget to teach them how to squish spiders

No, because he would take one look at his little daughter's big brown eyes that were filling with tears, and would buy her the fifth stuffed animal of the week
2 (10%)
No, because he'd be so busy thinking up bedtime stories about teddy bears, that he'd forget to go to work

Okay, so he's not becoming a Catholic priest (at least, so far as I know), but here's the scoop:

Sir John himself wants to know...

Who thinks I'd make a decent father?

John  :waving:

What say ye, ye members of the Sir John fan club?

If Tia's vote is any indication of how the rest of the voting will go... you'll be a good father. *grin*

I changed my mind, and voted :)

John  :waving:

The Purple Fuzzy

That's no reason to vote no, silly man.

Newsman

Did you see which category I voted 'No' under, Sandra? :)

Stuffed animals never hurt anybody. ;)  That's why you have a helpmate to balance how many you can buy.  :)

ahh...so THAT's how that works...I gather Moms are immune to the little face and the tears, not in a callous fashion, but to know when is when?

precisely john.

however, my boys discovered that if they both went with me shopping they could double team me and i wouldn't know.  one would have me talking about, for example, cereal and which one to buy.  the other would go down the aisle and pick out pop tars and granola bars and that sort of thing and add it to the cart while i was distracted.  if they were really on top of their game, they would also unload the cart and pack the bags.  i wouldn't know exactly what i bought until we got home and i was putting groceries away.  needless to say, my grocery bil is EXTREMELY smaller now that it's only me.  good thing because so is my bank account.  :pwink:

yes.  to answer your question.  moms know when to say yes and no and i am a clear example of the tough love mother.  sort of.

I don't have to distract my mom to make things jump into the cart.  All I have to do is say "can I make (insert item here) jump into the cart" *adds sweet innocent look*  and it jumps in the cart.

SippinTea

Kris, I seriously laughed out loud on that one. I think it's awesome that they actually pulled it off. My mom always caught us when we tried that trick. :sadbounce:

a display rack did that to my mom once.  she was putting things on the conveyer belt and accidently bumped the display of mini magazines above the belt knocking much of the display off onto the belt.  She thought she got them all picked back up and put back into place only to get home and discover there was a mini magazine in one of her bags and it was on the receipt.  Thankfully the one that ended up in her bag was a bible words one and not some strange one like horoscopes.

having been a parent for all of my adult life i can honestly tell you that it doesn't take nearly as much pre-thought as everyone thinks to be a good parent.

you'd be a great parent.

you need wisdom, grace and honesty.

you have those character traits.  you'd be fine.

and, you'd enjoy them as much as they'd enjoy you.
