Have you slapped that one dude from Indiana with a pie in the face today?

How much water does it take to fill up a camel?
Do you know anyone who has survived a plane crash?

Fair Lady,

1) Less than 1,000 gallons.

2) Not personally. I've worked, up close, two fatality plane crashes, once being asked by law enforcement to go in with the funeral home guy who was to collect body parts, and me to keep a record of them.

I sent you and Lady Elona a PM, titled "Ladies in Love" :bigcheese:

Did you get any rest when you took off a couple of days?

Newsman

Some. I wound up making a run to an ER up there, turned out to be nothing major. Got some hard-to-follow medical advice while I was gone (need to reduce stress in my life--my life IS stress :)

Got to feeling better, slept and rested some the last day and a half I was there.. I still did some call-ins for work while I was off..a total of five stories, including two calls on one issue, so I technically didn;t get a full day I wasn't working some.

Had a long Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday, once I got back--got some good news Tuesday on a couple of awards.. little sleep this morning, as the DA here called me last evening just as I was about to lay down after having covered a special council meeting-went to the supposed plea hearing after about three hours of sleep this morning--only to wait there for an hour to hear official word they were continuing the hearing for 9 days.

Sorry for the spiel, thanks for asking, though!

Are you looking for a different job? Just wondered because I thought you'd mentioned something about that before.

Newsman

No, I did not wind up pursuing that one last year.. that was the first job in quite a long while that was really tempting.

Is anyone on GP safe from investigations?

Newsman

Let me investigate that, Lady TL

Hmmm...why do you ask??

What did you do interesting this summer?

Newsman

No personal projects, but I was covering a national interest story on a child rapist and a plea bargain he made in the caze..there was subsequently a grand jury, which returned some new sex counts against the guy, not long before he was to be released from the previous case. Whether the new case will hold together or not is apparently a question, though.

OK, I'll answer.

The 'Rita' name was just one I slippe in with a number of others, to see if it would draw attention..which it did :) There actually is a Rita that is an Oriental waiitress, who is quite attractive, nice, and is single, that works at my favorite local Chinese place. I've never asked her out.

Resisted the temptation last week to ask out a lady locally that is an official with the city.

Last night at church, a single lady showed up that a mutual aquaintance of ours' has been trying to get us together. I thought of asking for her number, but, to be honest, I got what I thought was a little attitude from her about showing up to please her friend, and didn't ask.

Do you have any summer plans?

Sigh..well, I've been thinking of taking off a couple of weeks in August, going to Pennsic (huge SCA event,) but I'm not ectstaic at the thought of driving my truck up there (266,000-plus miles on it now,) and an airplane ticket and a car rental would make it a MUCH more expensive trip.

Well, as you can read above, I indeed could use a new vehicle..however, in the serious mode, I'm liking not having a vehicle payment.

As to the joking with me about Lady Stacey, she's half my age, and likely has no interest in a much older guy, anyway. Locally, I found out the singles night at family camp meeting is now for 24 and under..which leaves me out by 21 years.
i
It's been several years since I got out and did a lot of visiting at other churches, so have little knowledge if some of those I knew that were single still are.. after Sunday activiites including teaching and/or preaching plus other stuff, I often don't feel like driving 30-100 miles each way to visit for an evening service.

And, if I did/when I do, I'm not exactly a 'young man' out visiting, anymore.

I just wonder... if we all (I included) prefer the company of people older than we, what do the people older than we do?

Well Newsman... what do you do in regards to this?   :hypocrite:

I actually thought about you this week, John. One of my coworkers is a Civil War re-enactor and was telling me about the activities. He then made the statement that he had several friends that were into the MiddleAges re-enactments, with armor, swords, and such.  I immediatly thought of you. I never knew that there was actually a "community" of people doing that!

Many, many people in those communities.  They go all out some of them, right down to women fixing food the way they did back then.

Wonder if cell phones are allowed at those things?   :biglaugh:
