ICG, I think my views would be quite close to yours. *smile* But to be honest, I get so tired of feeling like I have to explain my actions I've started avoiding the topic altogether. LOL

And no, I'm sure you didn't kill the thread. Someone will be along shortly to debate your views on dating. ;) ;)

(I'll be in hiding--unless someone really gets me riled up. LOL)

Did someone call for me? :)

As to the 'right'way and 'wrong' ways to pursue/look for/avoid dating/relationships/romance, let's think for a moment...

Are Brandon and I the same size?  :laughhard:  do we even have the same taste in fashion?  :nono:

Is Lady SippinTea an identical twin in looks, taste in music, and political views, as, say, Lady UPCChris?

Then why do we expect 'one-style-fits-all' when it comes to our way of seeking out happiness with another.

Would we want everyone to be cooky (not kookie,) cutter images of one another in relationships  :yikes: We are indeed individuals, though joined into the church by the blood of Chirst, if so be we have followed the Biblical plan of salvation.

No, and as other singles shouldn't expect us to follow their pattern, we should not expect others to follow ours.

Generally, if we'll let God mold us into the person He wants us to be, the rest of therse things will generally follow.

*comes out of hiding long enough to say*...

Great post, Sir John!!  :great: Precisely why I prefer not getting into debates on the matter. *smile* I wouldn't expect (or even want) everyone to be a 'cookie cutter' of me or my ideas.

*goes back to observing from afar.... at least until later today*  :)

.... our way of seeking out happiness with another....

I like this phrase a lot. That's the real issue. When it becomes something else you can start to lose the enjoyment of being together. It's a give and take and a deeper friendship that should be filled with happiness - not drama.

Exactly! :great:

If we could make it a priority to do what is right in God's eyes, and let that be our heart's desire, then we wouldn't need to worry about other's opinions.
God determines who walks into your life....it's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.

I must agree on that one.  My opinions on the subject of dating and the like have changed quite drastically through the years, especially since there has been more than one occasion when I thought I'd met "the one."  Now that most of "the one"S are married, I realize that I'm not always right when I think that.  Now I simply proceed with friendships instead of getting too terribly twitterpated (at least most of the time I manage to do that, anway lol).

The closer I feel to God, the less I'm concerned with needing a person in my life to help me feel fulfilled.

I was fixing to say Ditto, when I noticed that my twin had beaten me to it... Figures...

But I agree!
Have you slapped that one dude from Indiana with a pie in the face today?

That was a particularly GREAT point, John.

Hmmm...  Just thought of something...  Perhaps we should all have the same way of finding a spouse as those that are listed in the Bible...

A few examples:
1. Sending a servant to find a spouse for the the master's son, sight unseen
2. Sending your daughter-in-law to lay down at a sleeping guy's feet and all but propose to him
3. Going out to the brothel and buying a spouse

What think ye?  Should we follow the exact patterns of these people?

Hmmm...  I think that each of these people heard from God about these relationships and followed HIS direction, and it turned out the way GOD wanted it to turn out.

there is a problem with these??  :teeth:
I like the buying a spouse idea... how much?
maybe I could check male escort services and see if they have any truly straight ones eh?

Just looking at the thread name got me thinking how dating and romance sounds good... but I think I'm finally too busy and truly preoccupied with my life as a single person right now to even consider it.... and I think I'm kinda liking that  :great:  :biglaugh:

The above lyrics are fro a song recorded by Matthew Wilder entitled, IIRC, "Break My Stride." It was sort of popular in the late 80's, and you can still hear it on the radio occasionally. Again, IIRC, it was 2 minutes and 42 seconds long (at least the version I had.)

Thank you for that information Newsman...

Now, now, Mel...  :nono: don't be sarcastic to Newsman. You never know! Remembering that the song was exactly 2 minutes and 42 seconds long could come in helpful someday.  :)
