Quote from: Lynx on August 19, 2024, 11:50:13 PMI am thoroughly fed up with mechanics and vehicles.

I have been maintaining two vehicles, so I will have one to drive when the other is in the shop. This costs a bit, but I don't want to be one of the crowd who has to badger a mechanic to get my car fixed RIGHT NOW!

One of my vehicles has been in the shop a month and a half now, and the other is about half a month into its shop stay.

New plan: Folding bike, electric, waterproof bike wheel, foam unpoppable tires. Also wet weather and cold weather gear. I can fix everything on that MYSELF and the mechanic can take his sweet time. I've had it.

Electric bike is a good way to go. I do the 2 mile bike to work most days now. I don't have an EBike yet but I don't have any steep hills on my commute to worry about.

The Purple Fuzzy

I like the temperature to stay above freezing.

Quote from: Roscoe on August 20, 2024, 03:58:28 PMIt's been mind melting hot over here, interspersed with hurricane force winds, hail, and rain. Apparently someone made God mad in Oklahoma -looking at you Jenn- and He apparently needs to work on His aim a bit.  :laughhard:
Either that or I've annoyed Him and am pleading His forgiveness.

For once, I am ready for Cold, kinda. If I can get the front of Chey's apartment painted where it looks decent first. I can work on the inside through the winter.
Now I still don't want any of that northern frozenness that cause the temperature to have a negative sign in front of it, but I will even entertain snowfall at this point, provided the power doesn't go out....

Probably all the above.  :freaky2:

I also prefer this. I prefer like 50-70's lol.
I'd entertain a snow storm for a day or two too like Bobby said lol

If you want 50-70 degree weather Indiana is the place to be right now. That's what temps in my area have been the past few days. Tomorrow morning its supposed to get down to 45 which will be pretty chilly for my morning bike commute.

Started my day with a transportation mishap. Got out on my bike to ride to work and the petals wouldn't engage. Got looking  to find the chain had come off. Had to pump up the tires on my older bike and ride it to work instead.

One of our drug court guys has an e-bike. Worked great- until it didn't. Some chain issue and when he got it fixed it broke several spokes. He finally got it back working.
I can't believe it is only Wednesday. I'm ovah it and want a weekend...

SEVERAL spokes? What was he doing with that thing, taking jumps?

But I could fix all those problems myself, without waiting for a mechanic to use a computer on the bike and try this and that and run up a $500 bill.

No idea. Around here, it's possible he was treating it like a Jeep.  :biglaugh:
Morning all. Annoyed already- it is Chey's first day of college and thanks to procrastination I was up until 10 pm trying to help her make sure she has everything and the ability to log into BlackBoard. And now, she wants to drag tail and not get moving.  :pound:  :pound:
She will be broke, homeless and hungry if God calls me and her mom home.

Friday. Glad for it. Looking forward to next Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Lou and I will have a few days to ourselves.

Looks like I might get to see some of the grandkids this weekend. :)

Shew. Yesterday- church. Good church I might add, despite several being out. Today- got up, set up appointment for service on the ice machine. We went years without one, bought one a few months ago that gives that "good ice", i.e. Sonic style- and spoiled the church. Everyone has been grabbing bags of it...This weekend- "Oh, Bro Moses, the ice machine has quit. We can't survive. Surely you have brought us into the wilderness to die iceless. We remember the leeks and ice of Egypt". You never heard such whining. :laughhard:
So I scheduled a service visit for tomorrow, so I don't lose half my church members to the First Church of Sonic.
That done, I ran errands; bought paint, and painted the entire exterior front of Chey's apartment, which now somewhat matches the house. If I get enough done, I won't feel guilty about Lou and I being gone for two or three days.
I think we are gonna invade Fuzzy's state and go to the Canton flea market...

Supposed to be mid 80's this weekend with rain. "supposedly". Sigh we'll see. I sure could use a cold front lol.

Took tomorrow off cus it's hubbs normal day off and it's his birthday! He turns 40   :freaky2:
We're going back to Wichita Falls so I can attempt getting a copy of the title for my car so we can again, attempt to get the registration switched over to Oklahoma. My Texas registration expires 8/31. eek. such a process and such a pain!!!

Ice machine fixed- for now. Prayer meeting held at the request of coworker, whose aunt was troubled. Long story short, myself, coworker, coworkers aunt, COGIC boss and two other coworkers went to our church and had prayer meeting at lunch. The presence of God was so strong you could cut it with a knife. Coworker's aunt said " I don't know how to say this but when I walked in this building it was like God wrapped his arms around me".
They have prior commitments this Sunday- but said they would be coming next Sunday... I'm looking for God to get a grip on them and a heavenly hoedown to happen.

I spent the evening switching from a Samsung Galaxy A15 over to an iPhone 13. Walmart's new style of shelf tag has to be scanned with a phone rather than the old TC70 devices we used to use. Got tired of how slow my Walmart issued Galaxy XCover Pro and my personal Galaxy A15 are when trying to scan outs.  I'm officially an Applestolic now.

That could be a good thing. 13s are old enough to be (relatively) cheap now, but still new enough to hold their own for daily use.

Battery might become an issue. A 13 is no spring chicken anymore.

You know about charger cases? Basically a phone case with a built in battery. That could be very handy in the near future. Adds a bit of bulk, but extends the useful life of your phone, both for the day and for the phone's lifetime.

In local news: At the salvage grocery yesterday I found a jar of peach amaretto jam.

Why is this not more popular? Peach amaretto jam should be in every convenience store. It should be in little squeeze packs that you get with your breakfast at the fast food place.

iPhone 13 was the newest full sized phone with a decent amount of storage I could get on a prepaid phone plan. As long as the battery last through my work day that's what matters to me.

Roscoe

Work. Bah. I need a vacation. Fortunately I'm gonna take one , starting tomorrow, for a couple days.

Oh I don't mean right now. But in, like, two years, remember that battery cases are a thing.

That's the problem with liking niche phones nobody has ever heard of. Nobody makes a battery case for my favorite phones. When their own internal batteries are too shot to be useful, they're just useless.

We got a bit of rain today along with cooler temperatures.

Work today. Oil change/headlight repair at 4. Walmart pickup at 5. Dinner and then destroying my Sunday School classroom and putting up the new theme decor. Thankfully Jeremy is off work the next several days, so hopefully we can get this all done before Sunday morning. We're having "Prince/Princess Day" Sunday in our classroom. I'm wearing a poofy dress, and I've requested the kiddos wear an outfit that makes them feel like a prince or princess (depending on what gender they were.. lol). They seemed excited. I need to send a reminder to the parentals tho. Hopefully this decor change goes smoothly and they love it.

I am SO ready for an extra day off. Thankful for Labor Day, haha.

Labor Day is just another work day for me. Going to be a busy weekend with holiday shoppers. I'm also scheduled to run ProPresenter both services Sunday.

I really miss getting holiday pay for working. One of the few perks of retail occasionally haha. Sometimes it still wasn't worth it.
