Get a big stew pot and I'll whoop up a batch of chili.  That will be made Thursday, but will be eaten Friday, because chili is of course always better the second day.  All the folks at church liked it, so you'll probably like it too.
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

I believe we've got menu for Friday planned...as well as menu for Saturday breakfast, right?

Another thing...we are driving 3 hours or so, so we need to plan accordingly for food.  And preparing food for friday night.  We will chip in, but anything we prepare will have to be prepared locally.
I figured that. And at the risk of jinxing myself- I have a cookstove....lol

I have a room at Day's Inn.  Check.  They charge 2 more extra dollars for one of my kids to be over 13... LOL

I missed what Saturday breakfast is about?

And I certainly can bring my awesome special brownies.  You'll never want a regular brownie again.

I also planned on bringing some other stuff, but I think I missed some of the planning so maybe I should just contribute $.. ???

Lynx

Saturday morning's breakfast will be sourdough french toast with maple syrup.  I'll even try to find some gluten free bread for the GF people.

That's a nice gesture, Isaac. GF bread is usually not that great tho, so don't worry about it.

MY, I think anything you want to bring will be appreciated and eaten. ;)

I just wish dina would be able to meet you.

I wish that too.  :(

I was thinking of things that can travel.  A box of sweet corn maybe a pie or two, brownies, a couple of gallons of lemonade mixings, zucchini/squash, & some general stuff like a bag of onions, sweet potatoes, a bottle of oil, & some tableware?

I have a 5 gal drink cooler thing too that i'll bring if you think we'll drink that much of any one thing.

Please let me know if that stuff would contribute or if I should get or contribute to something else.  Roscoe, I know meat is expensive, even on sale.  Plus all the hosting you & your wife are volunteering to do.

The Purple Fuzzy

She's supposed to leave in a couple of weeks, wanna make a quick trip to TX? ;)

The Purple Fuzzy

Oh well, I just looked and it's about a 10 hr drive, so not a short trip.  Halfway looks to be about Ft. Smith, AR. :smirk:

Isaac- you think fried baloney could fit in with the french toast?

If anyone wants to bring stuff.... feel free. Stuff like paper plate and plasticware, disposable cups, paper towels,  ect would also be very appreciated. Ya'll just bring whatever you want. If we all get here and we're missing something, we have at least 4 Walmart stores in a 30 mile radius.. I'm sure we can find what we need. :laughhard:
Desserts, ect- it'll all be good.  Also- what drinks would folks prefer? Store brand, namebrand? Diet? Tea? Coffee?...I'm guessing we'll have thirty or so here, counting the families.  Gonna be grand!
As far as the hosting- we're gonna have a ball showing you guys the area, and especially meeting you folks! Gonna be so good to meet y'all in real life.

Again, I wish.  Where are they going again?  I try and keep up with my friend in Turkeyland.

If you want some Guatemalen/Honduran coffee, my friend just brought me back a ton and I'm the only one around here that drinks coffee, I can bring some.

I also had an idea of something fun to do and told Mel about it today.  Perhaps she can pass it on and see if you guys like the idea.

Fried baloney, bacon and/or sausage.

As we have an auction house that is more like a salvage grocery here, I can corner the market on plates, cups, forks, spoons, etc.  I will take care of all the disposable dinnerware.  How many hundred do you want?

I do not drink soda products, so water or tea (sweet or un-sweet) will be great for me, I will bring my own water.
I will probably end up donating money for the food cause, because I'll not have room to bring a lot of stuff, Mel seems to be filling up our ride pretty quick.. Good thing I'm a light packer...

Uh... I only have a minivan, not a U-Haul, and it'll have my keyboard and luggage already (behind the back seat.)  Careful on that filling up.  Mel might wind up riding with a suitcase on her lap and one under her feet.

And for beverages, I drink water almost exclusively.  Once in a great while some fruit juices.

Speaking of which, how is the water supply down there Roscoe?  Should I pack my Brita pitcher?

Typical city/county water. For drinking, we usually tend to drink bottled water. That said, I've drank tap water and had no problems with it, and make tea, ect with it..

I'm debating putting all my money toward fixing the suv so I have a vehicle to get there. Let me work on somethings first and see what's happening. If need be I can sleep in the car :)

Did you mean would we consider BRINGING one, or would we EAT one if you brought it?  With this group you simply must specify.

I was thinking about bringing one, but I'm fairly certain it would not survive the trip intact.  Looks like my van is going to be full, no place to put a cheesecake and make sure it stays level.

If someone will let me borrow a kitchen though... I could bring my springform pan and make one on site.

Yeah. It's bad for my diabetes, but I might consider eating a chocolate cheesecake!  :thumbsup2:
