Oh yeah, I almost forgot... I will need to know exactly how many people will be attending, about a week in advance, for reasons I cannot at this time divulge.
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

You need to know how much strychnine to put in the Kool Aid?
Have you slapped that one dude from Indiana with a pie in the face today?

We're pentecostal.  You're thinking of a different church.   :-\

Okay so it's still a good two months out.  Better plan early than plans colliding.  What do we have planned for this?  I don't want to cancel someone else's fun or have mine canceled just for lack of communication.

For one thing, someone asked me to bring my music stuff.  So anyone who is musically inclined, there will be a demonstration of virtual instruments through a computer + keyboard.  Also, if someone will bring a guitar, I can demonstrate guitar FX with a real guitar piped through a computer.  MUCH cheaper than buying FX boxes.  This show can be held at any point though.

And for breakfast Saturday don't anyone bring anything.  We're already plotting that meal.

If anyone wants to know about any program to do anything with your computer, I seem to have a knack for finding freeware programs.  Just let me know.  If there's an AT&T cell phone signal I can even get online there and download it.

Also, is this going to be Friday and Saturday?  Given transit time from here to where I'm picking someone up, then to there, I should be on site somewhere around 4pm Friday... earlier if I can count on some caffeine after the trip.  I'll have to leave about 4pm Saturday if I'm going to be awake enough to drive the church bus Sunday morning.

And if anyone wants to get online and check email or something, be sure to bring your laptop.  I'll bring the internet connection.  :D

I'm confused, or slow, or both.

Is the date solid?  & if so, who is all going?  I'm not going just to meet a weird cat. :)

Oh Isaac, you wouldn't make the trip if it was just me either.     It seems like lots want to go, and it looks like it'll work, we just need to solidify it?

I'd like to make reservations before it gets full since Roscoe said we need to reserve well ahead.  I can be spontaneous for everything else but the date.. lol  Sorry if I'm being a stinker about it. I REALLY wanna meet ya all. Yes, you too Isaac.

Okay.... Lou and I went browsing to the mountain today, to the musuem and then around the park area, since it was 80 and beautiful today.
We went by the old motel to inquire of it. The prices are $77 a night for a double, $66 a night for a single, and they do have vacancys that week. I think I may can talk them down, if enough are interested. Here's the deal though- this will definatly not be confused with the Ritz. They are in the process of repainting the rooms and ceilings and putting new carpet down now, and assure me it will be done within the next week or so. Think more like college dorm room decor- beige painted block walls, brownish beige carpet, a small table, a small dorm style refridgerator. That's about it. Bathroom consists of a standup shower, sink and toilet.

The plus side is, they have volleyball nets, are located back off of the road and are close to the park, where we'd spend most of our time. Otherwise, I'd probably not be interested in staying there. While clean and receiving renonavations, it's still kinda shabby. I wish I could buy it and remodel it. It's a gem in the rough. Phone number is (501)727-5636, name is Cedar Falls Motel.

I would recommend the Tanyard springs cabins- You can find them online, and while they are more pricey, they are nice. Unfortunantly, the office was closed today and I could not find out if they have vacancys that evening.  They would doubtless be a much nicer alternative.  There is also another new cabin or two on the mountain that I'm trying to get info on now.

I've heard conflicting stories on the newly remodeled Mather Lodge- It's supposed to be the gem of the mountain when completed, but some say it'll be open beggining the first of May, some says it'll be July.

Worse case scenario, would put us staying at motels 30 miles or so away, and meeting up at a camp site to cook, clown and "base" out of. If I knew for sure that more than one or two would show, I'd try to reserve one of the cabins and let whoever wanted to stay, just chip in when they arrive....
If the weather is anything like it was today- bring comfortable shoes, there will be some walking trails, I'm sure. It was beautiful- and busy today. So, who's in?

Roscoe and Lou (Chey, of course)
Newsman ( stated it would be good for him, I believe)
Mini and fam?
Isaac and Grandma
Meller Yeller, family (with special brownies :freaky2:)
Mel?
Kymber?
Sunlight?
Heather?
P.f, Bro Clarence sans wooden hammer---PLEASE come?
Taco and CLown????
Anyone I missed?
Seth and his Flying Pig really should come.

So- is it gonna happen??? Lou's putting in for vacation those days, and I am off....

I'll be there.  Friday, May 18th and Saturday, May 19th, yes?  Transit time according to Maquest (with a very small detour through Tupelo to pick someone up) comes out to about 8 hours.

Is there a limit on how many can stay in a cabin?  Because I have an air mattress, and the things aren't very expensive - I could get more.  Split four or five ways, a cabin wouldn't be much at all.

We may have a bit of a problem. Although two months out, every cabin I've checked is already rented!  :o  Next point- if so, do we want to postpone the trip until September-ish and reserve one early?

Or rent Motel rooms in Conway (25 minutes) or Morrilton (15 minutes) and just meet up at the park to explore and have fun? If we do this, I can drag out a grille or two to my house and we can have the Friday night feast, ect there, play a little volleyball/ horseshoes, ect. and enjoy the company until late in the evening.

Lou and I would be delighted to have ya'll out...we live about 12 miles north of Morrilton, so it's not that far to the State Park.

Then Saturday, we could meet up on Petit Jean- I'll get us a campsite to base out of- and those of us that wish can hike trails, ect. We'll have plenty of cameras, ect, along and breakfast will be provided on Saturday, I think.... Maybe even grill some burgers or get Bro. Papa to smoke us a largepork butt and provide sauce....

What say y'all??

There would also be hotels in Russellville which is not that far away either...

... The whole renting motel rooms would probably be the most economical, as well...

September?  NOOOOO!!!

Ahem... I mean uh, yeah, hotel it is.

So we're looking at what, four rooms?  Two for guys and two for girls?

ALL the cabins?  wow.   :sadbounce:

Wait.  I just called Tanyard, and they said they have 4 cabins left for the 18th & 19th.  All four cabins have 2 beds each in them....  They are $175/ night.  A cabin split 4 ways is going to be like $45 each, guessing the tax.

kmymbir

I will be there Friday and I have a cot or air mattress I can use Friday night, I'll also be there Saturday, but I'll be leaving that evening. So anyone willing to put me up for one night just let me know what ill owe you..

Tanyard?  Wassat?  And do they specify how many people can stay, or is it however many you want to cram in for that much a night?

And are they big enough that we could have only two cabins, one for the guys and one for the ladies?

Sorry, my plotting mode is apparently in overdrive.

We will be staying Fri & Sat.  We'll either head home Sunday morning or go to church at Roscoe's. If that's ok?
