I need a big nap.....but it's too late to take one now.  I need to tend fowl and get ready for church.  :smirk2:

  :hi:

Been a long day with my vexing hobbies. Just for the record- if you ever buy a car with those little fancy wheel lock lugnuts- you know, the ones people usually put one on each wheel and you have to have a speciel key to get 'em off? Make sure the moron selling the car has left the key in the car! No one has the proper key for sale. Trust me on this.....

And in a related matter I must go repent for the thoughts I've had for the past three hours torwards the moron that put one of those things on my 'vette. They haven't been exactly what one could call Godly..... Toodles. :laughhard:

Went to church, came home.  Fixed a RBB and cut my finger....er...thumb.

It feels like Saturday since we had church.  :smirk2:

I'm tired.   Somebody go tend the fowl for me while I sit here and go to sleep.

My latest custom job. She wanted a baby shower gift that was dalmatian themed. I was bit worried at first that it might end up looking like a black and white cow, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. :)

In other news... I have apparently caught whatever bug Jason has had this week. Bah humbug!

And in yet other news... Chris is reading The Hobbit out loud to us. The boys had it on their reading list for school this year, and while it's been on my own mental book list, I hadn't read it yet. So. We're all doing it together. :) Fun, fun. Although I have this feeling that when the boys help with dishes I'm now going to be hearing "Carefully, carefully with the plates..."

That's a Kingdom Hall, not a fellowship hall.  :smirk2:

That's right. A kingdom hall....  And they believe in formal disfellowshipping.  I always make that mistake.

Picked up Andrew from the youth corn maze. Silly teen boys, I think they are little boys still in big bodies with squeaky voices.  Andrew was acting like a ninja, slipping through various groups. Smh

Went to work, came home.

Fall Festival tomorrow.  I'll be running one of the games.  Gotta be there at (acck, pfft!) 8:30 to assist the guys with the blow-up slides and places where the kids can bounce around.  Between that and running the games I'll set up the sound system for background kids christian music and assorted microphone-powered announcements like "Food is ready, let's eat!"
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

Today is the last day we work the soup kitchen. They told us we can't serve there anymore. Not just us, but all the churches in the area that were doing Saturday's.

It's bittersweet.

I'm at the church already. I don't HAVE to be here for another two hours...I'm thinking I'll slip upstairs and lay on the couch for a nap...zzzzzzz

WE GOT A NEW SOUND BOARD!!!   :eek!:

On a list of major events this ranks right up there with a band hitting platinum on their album, or a church paying off their building payments in full.  It's right below a public visitation by angels.  Our sound board has been going bad for years, YEARS, and the best we have ever been able to get is sending the thing off to be "repaired" by people who don't ever really fix it.  For years I've been working around problems and warning people I only have so many work-arounds.  For months we have been using monitor 3 output to run the main house speakers (yes it was that bad - main sound out has been down for some time.)

And now, after the trouble we had last Sunday, just like that we get a new sound board.

I popped over to the church before work to look at it where the pastor left it.  It's real!  It's a big Yamaha 32-input, 14-bus behemoth.  Almost twice the price of the Behringer 32-in I've been recommending, but it'll work.  4 monitor outs, 2 FX outs OR 2 additional monitor outs (selectable per channel), 4 subgroups, 24 XLR preamps, 3 8-channel groups for phantom power...  I'm still in shock here.  After literally years, poof! we finally get a new sound board!

Can anyone guess what I'll be doing after Fall Festival today?  That's right, I and Bro. David will be having some fun!

What's that?  Yes, to me setting up a new sound board is in fact fun.  :D

Lawd. What a day. It's beautiful out and I've done absolutly nothing productive. Had to go to Conway to meet the guy I traded cars with so I could pick up a few parts he had... Chey and I took Rusty. Chey was able to get the driver of a big rig we passed to blow the air horns at her- it made her day.
Now, I'd like to relax and unwind the rest of the night, but no. It's Fall Festval at Chey's school, which means I have to go 1) put up with people, 2) pay money I don't have for a dinner that I won't like, and 3) listen to the sound of screaming kids. Not what I wanted to do.....

Shoulda come to our Fall Festival.  It was free, you would have liked the barbecue and catfish (or one or the other) and it was outdoors with no echo from the kids screaming in the distance.

The putting up with people part... now you begin to sound like a certain other person here.

Speaking of which, the Fall Festival was a blast as always.  Many kids, many adults, a very long line at lunch time.  Much fun was had by all.

Then we tore into the sound system, ripped out the old sound board, put in the new one, connected everything... and no sound.  Channels were unmuted, signal was coming in, volume was up, everything was connected, but no sound.  Then I found a per-channel button that toggles between mono out and stereo out.  Bo-ther-ation!

We got all the mics to a fairly balanced level in main speakers and various monitors but it's impossible to set it exactly right until there's a crowd in the building and everything is going.  The current rating for the sound system is "serviceable."  It will be upgraded to "good" as soon as we have a church service and get everything balanced out.

In the meantime I'm resting and putting skin lotion on my sunburn.

The festival wasn't too bad. It was still going strong when I played the " I have to work tomorrow" card and fled the scene.  :waving:

W2cch.  Now it feels like Friday and not Saturday and like tomorrow is not Sunday.  :smirk2:  Lord.

Melody

party was a success.  It has been heavenly weather all week! Made an apple pie for the the party & for the friend who brought me the apples.

Made the soup for tomorrow. Too bad I probably couldn't get a job making whole food meals. I'd love it.

Bittersweet to spend with my friends who are off to Turkeyland. 2yrs or rapture till I see them again.

While my love language is touch, I do not like holding hands with ppl for prayer. Totally distracting. We always pray at the end of parties. Last party a backslider came & got prayer for pancreatic cancer/ health. He was here again tonight & said he      improving by leaps & bounds.  He hasn't been back to church yet but he WILL!

The kids invited the neighbor kids over. Purposely to be evangelistic. It encouraged Andrew to invite the same aged girl to church. God is good!

Happy Sunday guys.
