Mel's right - The trilogy starts with Deadline. Then Dominion, then Deception. I also highly recommend his book Safely Home. It's about persecution in China, among other things. But you really can't go wrong with Alcorn. Everything he's written is fabulous - both fiction and non-fiction. And I don't just say that about authors I enjoy. ;-) You work in a christian bookstore as long as I did, and you get REALLY picky. *lol*

If you think you'll want to read the whole trilogy, sometimes you can get really good discounts for the boxed set from his website.

WHOOP! I got Deadline for .89 cents. :D

Figured I'd revive this thread- I bought a book the other day that I really enjoyed. It's a novel, "The Jesus Chronicals- John's Story" , by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins. I normally don't care for their writings- they're the authors of the Left Behind series- simply because I didn't agree with much of anything written in their books. And yes, I know they were novels and meant to entertain, not minister, but I just felt like the information put out like that could lead unknowing people away. I'm not trying to anger anyone, just my opinion.

Anyway, I was at a local christian bookstore/cafe with Lou the other day and while waiting on the food I picked up the book- and couldn't put it down. I'm sure  that if I read it while holding the Bible in the other hand I'd find much to disagree with, but as entertainment it was terrific and showed some of what the apostles must've went through in the years after Jesus' crucifixion in a slightly different perspective than the Word.
Gotta be one of the better $5 purchases I've made in a bit.

Hebrews 12:12-16 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you

Haha... Left Behind... I actually listened to all the dramatized ones, and read the final one... (simply because they never dramatized it, and I was too anxious to find out what Heaven was like... *snicker*), I enjoyed them simply as any other fictional story, and I liked the characters. But I am with you on this one as far as the actual accurateness of their writings... lol. *Enough Said*

I did read one other book by them, about a photographer... I really enjoyed that one, and it had nothing to do with end times... it was a great read.

Haven't read any other their other books, but I thought about it.

*cough* Randy Alcorn has several good ones too. *cough*

:laughhard: Mel, I think you're gonna have to tie him up and read them to him, otherwise he's never going to get around to them.

I read books 1-4 of the original Left Behind series. If you are looking for a work of fiction they are great books, if you are looking for a Biblical perspective of the End Times, go read your  Bible. lol

If you like a good western novel and want something with more of a christian perspective, I would suggest  The Saga of the Sierras series by Brock and Bodie Thoene. There are about seven or eight books in this series and you can actually get them all in two volumes. I got all of them on Amazon for about $8 including shipping. These books are just as good as any Louis L'Amour novel and much cleaner than some of them. They also wrote several other westerns that are very good as well.

I've been reading a civil war era fiction series by Lynn Austin I think her name is. A friend bought me one for my birthday a couple years ago then I found another at the used book store. There are 2 more I think....

Last night, Trishas husband was figuring out where we should go eat after church, he suggested Pizza Hut, and he said "Gotta tell the waitress I want extra cheese though..." and I ALMOST said "Double Pepperoni, Double Cheese..." But no one would have got my inside joke...so I chuckled to myself and left it alone.

:sadbounce:
