   A bit of seriousness here: my last time in the Alamo, I think it was one of the rooms where the defenders retreated into during thier doomed fight..I felt a kinship with a father and son? that were also there watching..and perhaps some solemness as well.

   Standing on the field at Gettusburg was also beyond neat..I walked out onto the battlefield before sunset and looked up at the area the Confederates saw as they charged into the area known as the 'high water mark' of the Confederacy.. quite memorable.

   Probably the one place of the limited number I've seen that surpassed the Alamo inner room(s) for solemness would have been at Arlington, particularly at the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
