Title: Heather's back, and not so blue, she has less gall in SHARING 482
Post by: Lynx on April 09, 2013, 06:31:39 PM
I asked the doctor if it was mitigated or unmitigated gall. The doctor said it was the most unmitigated gall he had ever seen.

Heather, do you feel like a part of you is missing?

Does the empty spot cause your other organs to shift?

Can you eat anything yet?

I'm sure glad you came through well. :-)   💜

My mamaw went and paid my surgery bill. An her and my great aunt gave me enough money to make up for the missed week of work.

I dont feel like anything is missing. My organs will stay in the same place. The gallbladder is a tiny horribly miserable thing. Ive been eating jello and greek yogurt. Had a couple pieces of toast and a small bowl of plain spaghetti last night.

Im also not nearly as bloated as i was yesterday and my sutures are starting to itch.

I was procrastinating picking a song to teach my kids to sign. I have to teach them tonight, and I just picked a song to do at midnight last night. If the truth be told, I should have had it picked and started teaching them last Wednesday.

OOPS!

Oh well....I picked a song they know...I just have to learn the signs to some of it so I can teach it to them tonight.

Ugh. It's too early.

Gotta run dad to dialysis. He has been going by himself, but mom and I need the truck at 8. They asked us to leave so some guys can work on putting a vent system in the kitchen.

If dad was gonna be home, we wouldn't need to leave, but the brother in the church who is in charge of this project doesn't feel comfortable with us being home without dad, and him an guys in and out of the house.

Continued....

...which I guess is ok, it's nice of him to make sure that nothing can be said while dad isn't home. But he is an older guy, and people are in and out of the church all the time. Personally I don't think anything would be said. But, eh. Whatever he thinks is best for this situation. We don't want to be a stumbling block for HIM.

Sitting here at dialysis now. Waiting for them to unlock the door. They don't open till 5:30, and we got here at 5:15.

There are already two cars with two other patients that were here before us waiting. These people don't play. They wanna hurry an get in there so they can get out. I don't blame any of them. I'd do it too if it was me.

Everything has been going good lately and work is wonderful I love my new job.
The doctor said I'm fine.
Money's tight and we are still waiting on the trailer we are suppose to be getting. But even though things are hard I am happy. Truly happy.
God is so good, services have been great and I am so excited to see what will happen next.

After pouring all day long yesterday, the grass is finally getting green!  Now we just need some leaves on the trees.

When is a good time to start a potted tomato plant?

Even her plants smoke pot...

So I found out that the guys that are here with the brother working on the vent stuff are from Arkansas. It's a father and son. The fathers elderly mother lives here and is very sick, near death...they came here to visit, and with family stuff and all kinds of drama, they had to stay longer than expected, so they came and met up with the brother from our church, and asked about odd jobs to make enough money so they can get back to arkansas. They are already apostolic, that's why they looked up our church for help. And we sure needed two guys who knew how to work around here! Lots needed to be done and they so far have been everywhere in the building doing odds and ends.

I have to find out what part of Arkansas they are from. I was gonna ask the younger guy, but he was talking to sis Ramsey about tornadoes and I never heard a break in his sentences long enough for me to jump in the conversation...he is quite a talker.

I'm on pins and needles waiting for the part of Arkansas. :)

Waiting for 4:30 to come say hello. I'm ready to go eat pizza w/ the hubs. Work has been stressful the past two days. Too many times they're throwing the word "layoff" around. I'm thankful they were laying off electricians and not us office girls though! Praying that the business really picks up soon! (I work for an electrical contractor company. It's an Apostolic family that owns it. Super sweet people.)

Thanks to my parents coming last weekend - my house is STILL clean from the very quick cleaning up that it received Friday & Saturday before they got here, LOL. I've enjoyed coming home to cleanliness and order. Unfortunately, dishes will have to be done and laundry too. I don't know how those things multiply so quickly.

I know you hate that dog but please do not give it coolant. It's a horribly slow and painful death for any animal.

Made my first adventure out of the house today. Went with mom to CVS to pick up her prescriptions. It was even after I got to take my shower!! I'm feeling tons better since I've been up being mobile more.

I agree with Heather about the coolant. I can't begin to imagine how awful the dog irritates you.. but I'd feel awful if I actually killed it. :/ Praying the situation betters itself!

Lou cooked them up while I played on the radio and contacted three new countries- Greece, Austrailia (New South Wales) and the crowning achievement, Saudi Arabia. :teeth: I was happy. Posting sure is quiet...

Went to hear a buddy of mine preach last night.  It was a powerful service.  Things were sure enough happening.  Then about half way through worship, God struck me with a thought...

About 36 years ago, at that same church, they were having one of those old fashioned pentecostal revivals.  Everyone was there.  And this lanky cowboy showed up.  Granted, he showed up for the wrong reason.  He was eyeing this little gal upon whom he had the sweets.

Well, revival fires twas a burning that night and was a little bit hotter than his love fire, and when one woman took off shouting and made a pass right by the back row where he was sitting, it nearly scared him to death.  And when that same woman hit the wall at full tilt, he knew if he hadnt been sitting between that girl he liked and her momma, he would have left and never came back.

It was his first introduction to pentecost.

That service plumb worried on him after that.

A few weeks later, that girl he was sweet on was back at her home church (different city) and made up in her mind she wouldn't give him the time of day ever again.  She was gonna be nice, but God was first.  And lo and behold, that cowboy showed up at church that night.  Only this time, he wasn't to worried about pentecostal revival fires.  When altar call was given, that cowboy was up there, repenting of his sins, and experiencing what happens when God fills you with the  Holy Ghost.

His soon to be pastor asked him about being baptized.  That cowboy looked at him and said, "I've got a change of clothes in the truck."  For two weeks he had carried a change of clothes in his truck, waiting for the chance to be baptized.

The rest is history...I guess.

You see, that cowboy is my Dad.  And that gal he was sweet on is my Mom.  Last night during worship, I was overcome with emotion at the thought of the life God gave me, all because a cowboy went to church one night 36 years ago.

What a great story Jeremy!!

I had a pretty good heart to heart with Brandon the other day. He walked in the room I was praying in. He asked why I was so upset. I explained to him that i wasn't. It was 12 years to the day that I had received the Holy Ghost. I did learn however that Brandon was baptized in Jesus Name when he was younger. They went to a baptist church that was almost at breakthrough to whole truth.

I can't remember if I mentioned it or not, but Brandon doesn't have to work another Sunday either! He worked a year worth of Sundays and they finally have enough people in rotation that they've dropped Brandon out of it! He's pretty excited too! We've had 2 weeks of teary eyed Sundays and lots of questions. I cannot wait for the day I see him at the altar worshipping.

Oh yeah, I meant to comment on that but got distracted by the good news about not having to work Sundays.  I also do not like flip flops because they impede my agility.  I like a shoe that I can count on to stay with my foot when I run.

Do you usually run everywhere?

I like them...if my toes were better. I have some problems with my feet and nails. I wear my flip flops around the house, but usually not out places unless I know I'm gonna just stay in the truck. Now if my feet and nails were pretty, or just normal looking, I would live in them. Especially Yellow Box brand. Tevas are good too.

As for flip-flops, i don't like them either.  It's funny, cuz when i was a kid, I loved them.  But there is just something about that thing between my toes that I just can't stand any more.  My husband, on the other hand, would probably wear them year-around if it didn't get too cold in the winter! :o

I LOVE flip flops!!! Sadly since moving to the country and my deep fear of snakes I rarely get to wear them outside of the house. I wear them ALOT in the house just to keep my feet off the cold floor.

Speaking of home I think I'm heading home today. My mom has been awesome in taking care of me but now she herself is sick with some crazy sinus/cold/losing her voice completely stuff and frankly I don't want to get sick on top of recovery. We just have to figure out a way to keep the girls [dogs] from jumping all over me because they jump and put there paws right where my sutures are across my belly.

Oh no! What happened?

I have been SUPER busy today. Wow. Got up we went to the nursing home to minister, then we went to the ghetto and served snow cones and invited the kids to church. It was a beautiful but HOT day. Then pastor took us all out to lunch, and then it was back to the church for an innovate meeting. After that we had youth service, and concluded the night at Taco bell. When we got back to the church, I put my Kira to sleep, and now I'm back in the apartment. I have washed a load of clothes, cleaned the kitchen, prepped the veggies and roast for tomorrow, and got the microwave cleaned out so it can go back to the Youth room tommorrow. We were borrowing it, but now we have ours back. Oh, and I also have the dishwasher full and going.

Pajama time...and bed. Tomorrow it's church and a meeting. Shew.

I didn't make it home in the sleeping there sense. There were some weird circumstances going on. I did however go by my home to get church clothes for today. Lo and behold if my dog didn't jump up on me and her little paw hit me right in my belly button. OUCH!!!! That is exactly where it hurts the worst. It's where they opened me up the most, pulled out my gallbladder, and has the most stitches.

Had crazy dreams about snakes til around 6 am. Then finally slept pretty good until my dad came stomping into the living room at 8. Now eating then getting ready. Brandon should be here in about 45 min to pick me up for church.

Praying for you Mel!!

Anxiety meds and he was drinking. The next morning, Friday,he started vomiting, inhaled it which filled his lungs and cut off oxygen to his brain, which swelled. They tried cooling his body down to take the swelling down. He wasn't breathing on his own and they realized still no blood was getting to his brain. Initially it had taken 40 min when the paramedics arrived to even get a pulse.

Blessed be The Lord always. No matter what. He delights in mercy still.

Nathan had been talking to him for at least a month about not taking psyche drugs and he was taking sleep meds and then he drank so Nathan is pretty crushed.

Yeah, me too. That's terrible. :( Praying for the family and for y'all.

I am so much better. I only got sick the one time in the night. I went back to sleep and was ok. The real struggle started this morning. I fought with the devil about going to church. he tried to tell me that I was sick during the night, and I was sleepy so it was ok to stay home...he _almost_ had me convinced. Almost. But I went ahead and got and in the shower, KNOWING that if I stayed home I would regret it, and boy was I ever right!

We had a BLOW OUT service! One of our new Youth that has been coming to just Youth events was there at service and recieved the Holy Ghost for the first time! She was so excited. The whole place just seemed to explode and God moved in a mighty way! We had no preaching, and we had tonges and interpretation near the end of altar service. People that I haven't seen shout in awhile boogied and shook all over the place! I'm glad I went!

Plus as an added bonus, two of our girls who are usually at college were home for the weekend and I got to fellowship with them!

It's been a GREAT day! My roast and veggies turned out perfect, and Ive already had a short nap! Yay!

:hi:

:sing:  Goooood Morning, Sunshine!!!  :waving: :waving: What a beautiful day the Lord hath made :sing: ... Mama's favorite morning saying. How true it is this morning, and how much I miss her today. She's had Alzhiemer's for the better part of ten years and hasn't seemed to know anyone for eight or better- you'd think I'd be used to it. But for some reason, this morning I am really feeling not having her around. Helps to know that she's in God's hands and without being judgemental, if she don't make it to the promised land I might as well fold my tent and steal away. She's always been the perfect example of a Godly mother and I'm so glad she is mine, even with the pain this illness has put us through...

It IS beautiful here today- supposed to be near 80. I drove Rusty in, who, after his O2 sensor change, is back to getting 20+ mpg. All in all, I am happy. And I have a Dr Pepper. Life is grand.  :P

I shoulda stayed at my moms. Its 735 am and Mike is throwing a tantrum like a 3 year old child. He's misplaced his laundry basket. I got up to try to help since he was screaming on the phone to Brandon. I lifted 1 of our baskets that was in the laundry room and now my abdomen is hurting. Its another 3 hours before i can take a pain pill. Also Teresa is on her way out here to hopefully take a shower and pick up Mike. If she stays any longer ill go nuts.

May just pack up a couple things and go back to moms. Shouldnt drive since i just took a pain pill 3 hrs ago but i cant deal with these people today.....

Every time I've been laid off (except for one) it was because God had a better job waiting.  That one exception was when the economy tanked in 2008 and everyone was being laid off everywhere, and I still got a job - not as good as the job that had to lay me off, but it got me through until the factory was able to hire me back.

Howdy to all.  I gotta finish the mowing I didn't get done Saturday, preferably before it gets warm out there.  But it's a bee-yoooooootiful day out.  I don't think the cat is happy though, I'm mowing down all the tall grass in her hunting ground.  She was crouched out on the lawn yesterday with a faint air of "NOW what do I do?"

In other local news, my main music collection (aside from the minor christmas, comedy and classical folders) is at 6,236 tracks, with 213 tracks that I just ripped from CDs still to listen to and make sure they ripped clean.  Then I'll be through with new music for a while... Unless I happen to come across another thrift store or pawn shop I've never been to before.
It's still cheaper than golf or racing, and takes up less time than World of Warcraft addicts give their game, so I think I come out ahead all around for choice of hobby.

I was reading about that. It's a sad state the world is in....

After Mike tantrum this morning he dumped all our dirty and clean clothes together in a pile in the kitchen floor. So I've been rewashing everything. I've also cleaned the bathroom. So much for light duty.

Brandon has 2 test tomorrow so I think I'm gonna head to TPOJC tonight. They are having revival services. Plus I really need to go speak to a lady there. I just want to apologize for how i acted. Granted it wasn't the best of situations but neither of us acted correctly and I feel the need to apologize. [It's the lady who would drag me to the front every single song every service.]

Brandon prefers the church in Bristol. I prefer the church in JC. I don't know what'll happen. As long as we're going right? We got into a debate yesterday. Even though his baptist church growing up baptized in Jesus Name they were big believers in the trinity. Brandon is really having a hard time going against what was ingrained in him. He doesn't understand oneness and I feel like I'm going a terrible job teaching it. Any suggestions? Good bible references? I've suggested us do a bible study with someone from church but he's a bit frazzled about it.

That book was required reading when I went for my local license.  Good book.

In local news, I came home tonight from work to find a (rather large) strange cat curled up beside MY cat's (now empty) food bowl.  Without even stopping to turn the car lights off I bailed out of my vehicle and let it know in very strong and unmistakable terms this was not its territory or feeding trough and its presence here was objectionable.  Then I fed my poor hungry cat.

So a few years ago, I worked with a lady named Mia at TJ Maxx. One day at work we were talking about her son and that they didn't have any children's programs at his grandma's church. I offered to take him to church with me on Wednesdays. I took him every Wednesday he was available until I moved to IL, and my parents picked up the taking him when I moved. In those few years, we managed to get him on the bus route for Sunday School as well. He was baptized the last year I was at Calvary. Well.. Saturday night at children's revival, HE GOT THE HOLY GHOST! :)  I cried when Mom called to tell me. I'm SO happy that he's able to have this experience! I'm praying that he can get GROUNDED in truth and stay in church, be a light to his mom & family!

The problem with monitor 1 turned out to be a faulty cable.  We're fortunate it was just a buzzing noise - sometimes cables fail in ways that make people jump about a foot off the floor when they make a big POP in the sound system.

SippinTea I'd say y'all make a cute couple, but that's not the kind of thing guys say...

Ah fergit it - y'all make a cute couple.    Not sure about that tie though...

Okay, amendment... Chris HATES wearing ties, too. Just to keep the record straight and all. *grin*

Personally I happen to agree with him.  Never saw the use of a tie, though I do like my Snoopy tie a bit.  A cloak, though, is functional.  :P  Make him one and make him give it a try next winter, he may find he likes it.

I have the book On Being Pentecostal that I'm thinking of letting him read. I bought it last year [maybe 2 years] when I was questioning alot of things.

Got the all clear from the surgeon today. Brandon made me pizza tonight  I was still on a bland diet. Also that means I go back to work. Light duty for the next week. So that means receptionist duties. Sigh. But I'm just glad to have something else to do than clean this house.

Brandon's dad did however apologize for the laundry hamper tantrum. I'm thinking of just buying 2 blue hampers and saying 'Mike these are yours. Ours are the white ones' and leaving it at that.

I knew I was sick.

I didn't want to go to the ER again. But with no insurance and no money, I have no choice. So my friends convinced me to go. Ann even went with me.

I'm gonna try to find a movie on Netflix and lay down now...any suggestions?

You know how sometimes you're asking God what to preach and He gives you a topic and a direction to research it, and you're thinking "How am I going to stretch that into a whole sermon?!" and then you start studying it and you get excited about it... and before you know it you have way too much material and you have to trim it?

Yeah, so... how do you decide which points to trim out when all the points you jotted down are so good?  :-\

My God is Jehova Jireh.  Nathan has been working for a church friend building decks since being laid off.

And then guess what happened?  The company called him and others back for what looks like another month of work.

He has not missed one day of work.

Jesus knows us. The funeral for Anthony is Friday. Nathan is a p. bearer. There is a burden to minister to not just the family but the rest of the coworkers that will be there.  To not have a job or work for the last few days would've made the emotions and stress harder. God is so good.

Please pray for Nathan please to reach and connect and impact others he'll be interacting with over the next few days. We refuse to think the investment ended with Anthony. There a billion more Anthonies to be reached.

Jeremy your testimonies have been inspiring us for months.

Yeah, them's hoecakes.  Cornbread fried like pancakes = hoecakes.  Or corn cakes.

Some people try to put canned creamstyle corn in corn cakes.  Canned creamstyle corn is an abomination that should be kept out of everything, including anything in my plate.  It should be kept in its can, preferably buried in a sea trench somewhere.

I was just about to post that we call those hoecakes. Then Isaac beat me to it.

My grandpa made the BEST hoecakes! Thin and perfect, sometimes a wee bit burnt around the edge. Wow. My mouth is watering.

He could make cornbread too, but his hoecakes are what we all wanted. He didn't put in any kind of corn either. In fact we don't put corn in any cornbread of any kind. The cornmeal is enough.

Apparently they are called Johnnycake's (also jonnycake, johnny cake, journey cake, shawnee cake and johnny bread) and hoecakes.

From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnnycake):

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the term hoecake first occurs in 1745, and the term is used by American writers such as Joel Barlow and Washington Irving.[12] The origin of the name is the method of preparation: field hands often cooked it on a shovel or hoe held to an open flame. Hoes designed for cotton fields were large and flat with a hole for the long handle to slide through; the blade would be removed and placed over a fire much like a griddle.

I feel horrible. First day back to work. Poor Dr B brought me one of the doctors office chairs up front to sit in. I didn't not think I'd be this sore my first day back. My belly and my back hate me. Anyone have a good idea for girl's first name that might potentially go with the middle name Hope? *grin*

Uh, that would be a "no", Isaac. On all of them. *grin*

That smoothie was the best yet I think!

I have put avacado in it before, it's very mild tasting. You barely know its there. Of course I used fresh hass avacado. I didn't know you could buy any other "preserved" kind. YUK! I'll take fresh. And I also love guacamole.

Todays smoothie consisted of...: pineapple, honeydew, cantaloupe, grapes, kiwi, and mango...this was in a small pre cut package of fruit I bought. Then I added one avacado, one banana, a container of vanilla yougrt, and some orange juice to loosen it up a bit. (packaged orange juice, Florida pure premium.)

It was AMAZING! I think I'll get those pre cut packages of fruit more often! A big variety for less mess, and low cost. I just dumped it in the blender. No prep. Easy peasy.

I'm trying to think on the name stuff.

Olivia and Kira were not named until the day they left the hospital. Wes and Kris couldn't decide. But I talked to Krissy the other day and she said when and IF there is a third child, she isn't playing this name game again...if its a boy, it will be Riker Ɖlan, or Aurora Skye for a girl. She was tired of her babies not having names for the first few days! Lol

Ruby, I desperately wanted to name my girl Naomi (beautiful name and beautiful meaning) but gave into others opinions. I will always regret it though Hannah was a close 2nd and isn't unfitting.

Who cares if there is one silly movie made 20 yrs ago with that name? You pick the name that you like because it is directly connected to the mama intuition of her personality that no one else has. I can't say that for every mom but I can for you.

Steps off soapbox. :)

Beatrice

Siricuis Ringo... You could say she completes the family motto  :D

And my favorite: Polly Esther Hoop Ringo.  Oh wait you said HOPE not hoop.  Hehehe

Thanks. ;) A few of the names that Chris and I have tossed around were uhhhh.... not viewed in a great light by certain family members. I didn't even want to tell them what names we were considering, but... some conversations are awkward. For instance, I've always loved Bella. But a close family member declares it sounds like a dog's name. If the decision were totally mine I might pick Annabella Hope. But it doesn't sound like Chris is totally sold on it either. And I'm pretty sure BOTH parents should like the name.

Definitely can't do "Rose". Long story there. Involves a lady at church who would be *ahem* THRILLED to think we "named a child after her". ;)

While I was perusing baby name books last night I ran across one that would actually combine the middle names of both of our moms. Jeanette. My mom's middle name is Jean, and C's mom's middle name is Annette. It would be a cool way to include them both, but I'm still deciding if I actually like that name enough to consider it. ;)

I still think we should do Hope Leslie Ringo. :bigcheese: Tee hee!

Sandra, I like Annika, which is pretty close to Anika, but the emphasis is on the first syllable instead of the second. (Ah'-nikah).

My grandmother's name was Jeanette and she was the loveliest petite, gracious as lace, G'ma that a girl could ask for.  I think it was supposed to be Jeanetta in the family tradition but somehow it wasn't.

For no apparent reason I'm reminded of a story about William Howard Taft.  He weighed in at 335 pounds, heavy even for his 6 foot height.  Some twerp pointed at his stomach and asked "When the baby is born, what are you going to name it?"  Taft said, "If it is a boy I will name him Junior.  If it is a girl, I will name her Annabelle.  But if, as I suspect, it is only gas, I will name it after you."

Been thinking more about this nameless Baby Ringo...

What about:

Eustace Clarence
Edmond
Peter
Jake
Finnigan
Ollie
Puddleglum ;)

(ok seriously? I really DO like Eustace and Edmond. Sounds strong and brave...)

Lizairaleen (not sure on spelling)
Avaris

And again, I really like those, not being funny. :great:

When I was like 11, I picked my children's names...number 1 girls name was gonna be Olivia Lee. But due to having an Olivia in my life now I have decided against that name. Not cause I don't like it, because I love it still, but because there is only ONE Olivia. IMHO.

I would tell you the boy name that's my number 1, but I am afraid you would love it and I would decide not to use it later if you used it. Lol Stupid really, since I likely won't see your child till we all get to Heaven anyway. But that's me. You can't steal my perfect name!

Just deleted my Pinterest account and will be deleting my FB acct at the end of the day.  This morning was the last straw. I don't even get on Pinterest much anymore but went to look for something today, a CLEAN, benign that I had seen before and what comes up but full out porn pictures, with no longer an option to report as offensive or pornography.  What a clear message. All the recipes in the world are not worth it. My husband and son may not ever be on Pinterest but *I* refuse to let those images be ok to just pass by for the sake of recipes or crafts. Inherently, at the end of the day I will not compete with an abominable image or idea. That's what those images do to women, make them feel under par, unable to be that even bough we don't want to be anyway. It's a mockery of who we really are.

We deleted Andrew's FB days ago when going onto his personal page there's a giant add with a cartoon girl practically naked. I questioned if a boy or guy is unwavered because its not a more realistic picture?  If we were fooling ourselves that it's harmless because it's a cartoon?

Then this morning after being as Ruby refreshed a relevant word the other day, LIVID, I asked why would it be ok to delete Andrew's acct on such moral basis but continue to use ours?  If it's counter productive to have a lower standard for ourselves than our kids we are trying to raise right?  And also, that just because it tends to be more of a man's battle, does that make it ok for ME to think those images have no effect on my mind even if it's subtle and unconscienciously?

I am just put out. And shouldn't I be?  I feel an unsaid pressure that just because there are so many other apostolics not having the same feelings I am over it that I'm over reacting and thus wrong. But it shook me up this morning.

On another note: Anthony's funeral is today and Nathan is delivering the eulogy and being a p. bearer.

I'm tired of the world having such a grip on people. Anthony was on his way, he was tarting to come to church, he was learning about God. He was baptized. To my knowledge he didn't get the HG.  He had stopped drinking for a while and the time he slips, it takes his life.

Sin is no joke.

I haven't had any problems on Pintrest but I usually only look at the things that my friends have posted and don't search for stuff.

Also, if I see an offensive ad on Facebook, I mark it as offensive.  I haven't seen one in ages.
If it's one of my friends that's posting that stuff I either: hide it if it's not normal for them, hide them, or delete them from my friends list.

I rarely browse FB on the actual FB page. I usually do it on my phone - I don't see very many ads.
But I can't even remember the last time I saw something bad.

and Pinterest well - it's a compilation of stuff that billions of people like/look/love. Can't really get around it - but again, it's not like I see anything bad on there. Or if I do I just scroll past it. Doesn't mean I accept it, or that it doesn't bother me. But I see WORSE stuff in real life in my CVS/Pharmacy so I guess it just don't focus all my attention on getting angry over it. It's gonna happen either way.

Yep. That.

Pinterest only shows you what YOU have subscribed to. And granted, I've subscribed to a few recipe links and whatnot that ended up getting turned into garbage, and had to go UNsubscribe. But you DO have control over there.

I think it ends up being worse for people who don't use it often (apparently, like you and me) because we aren't keeping on top of it. And unfortunately, a lot of yucky people will post harmless things for a while in an attempt to get you to subscribe, and then will change what they are posting.

I've pretty much deleted every subscription except those of my good friends. And I haven't been having trouble for the last number of months.

Jeremy, that worked! Thanks.

You have a point Ruby and my friend told me today that she has to be careful because Pinterest will automatically have her following someone from a pin she liked repinned.

When it comes to Pinterest the people I guess I'm subscribed to and know rarely post anything that catches my interest and often other people we have in common repin the same things so a lot of the time it's the same things pinned 12x each. A lot of smaller children stuff. Lol. I haven't developed a bunch of others to follow. So I will look through the main page or categories of humor, food, outdoor, DIY crafts, animals, etc.

I had went to refind a funny picture of a bad parking job and wham! I felt like I got the wind knocked outta me in all seriousness. Had there been an actual person that put that photo in my face I certainly would have broken their nose.

Yeah, unfortunately, you have to be really intentional with sites like Pinterest. I guess they assume you want to see the icky stuff unless you repeatedly tell them "no". Which is where I end up being rather boring on sites like that, because I limit everything so severely. Just people I either 1) personally know and know they won't post garbage, or 2) a blog author or someone similar that I will follow for a short while and SEE if anything yucky comes up. And I have almost no tolerance for things I disapprove of on Pinterest. One strike, they're out. *lol* Glad that adblock is working out for you with FB and whatnot! :great:

Went by the yard sale at the church in JC and not a single person spoke to me. Take that and the crazy lady telling me Brandon was evil on Monday night and I'm very glad we came back to Restoration and worked things out.

Currently eating some kettle corn popcorn then I think me and the Whiskeykins [and possibly Brandon and Bella] are gonna go for a good long walk. It's way too pretty not to.

In local news:  After staying up way too late working in the kitchen at the local coon hunt (our church sells supper plates when the coon hunters meet for a contest hunt) I got up way too early today and came to the church to:
A - take out all the amps and equalizers;
B - Drill some holes so we can run audio cables under the table, instead of having them run across the power boxes (audio cables?  across power junctions?  really?! and we wonder why the monitors have a hum in them...)
C - Put all the amps and equalizers back and put color code stickers on every equalizer and cable so we can tell which cable goes where without tracing it - cable with a green sticker on one end, look for the one with a green sticker on the other end;
D - Test each send so I know everything still works after I took it all apart and put it back together.  I'd hate to fire up for church tomorrow and realize I'd connected something wrong.  :smirk2:

Now I'm going to take a nap, then go back to the coon hunt for round two.  Working with church folks in the kitchen is much better than working anywhere else because we get along better and we're not under the gun to work as fast as we would at a real restaurant.   And we have a lot of fun, to the extent that I'd RATHER be working in the kitchen with church folks than at home doing my own thing.

Isaac-I smiled, waved, and made direct eye contact with at least 6 people.

Made a run to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast in the morning. Sadly Brandon has to work tomorrow since he had to take one of his regular days off for court [ticket for the tail light]. It's anniversary service and baptism service tomorrow. We have a baptismal but we're going down to the river tomorrow.

HeatherB:  I was kind of grasping at straws.  JC is where my niece lives, and though she goes to a Baptist church, I was kind of hoping against hope that the pentecostal church there might be nice, to the end that she might start going there.  Oh well.   :-\

In local news, the coon hunt is not over (they'll be out until daylight) but we left the rest of the sausage biscuits and bacon biscuits in take-out clamshells, cleaned up and went home.  I just got in, I am tired and I'm going to bed for a little sleep before church tomorrow... er... later today.  G'night.

Isaac-There are a few churches in JC. We fellowship with Bro Grimm's church [Praise & Truth] and they are an excellent church. Super nice folks.

I'm up and putting chili together for later. I figure we only have so many cold weekends left. Plus I can leave it cooking all day and it'll be awesome by the time I get home from church and Brandon gets home from work. It takes a while for me to brown the beef though because our large eye on our stove doesn't work. We cook everything on the 3 smaller ones. It's frustrating sometimes but doable.

Didn't get out of service until 2:30 [we start at 11]. Had 2 saved, I believe 3 filled with the Holy Ghost, and 12 baptized in Jesus Name. It's hard to believe the church started 19 years ago in a little store front with 15 people. Now we are finally in our own building and I believe the count today was 120+ people. Thank you Jesus!!

Cool.  Sounds like our church in double-time. We took 40 years to get from the stated point A to B.  And thanks for the tip, I'll keep that church in mind.  I looked up their website and, though the page was coded a bit roughly, the people looked nice.

Well. I was supposed to take dad to wound care this morning, but he woke me up and said if I'll just put his chair in the back of the truck, I won't have to go cause his friend Wayne wants to go! Yay! I wasn't ready to get out of bed, so this is good.

But now that I have put his chair in and he is gone, I'm wide awake. So I think I'll clean the kitchen and put dinner on...using TWO crock pots today. One for a chicken and the other for some turnip greens. Yummy.

Well shoot.  I was asleep and having a nice dream about visiting Roscoe.  A nicer family you'll never meet, at least in my dream.  We had beef brisket and some kind of seasoned, baked bread roll with cheese in the middle.  Then I was looking through his music collection...  Then I woke up and I was here and it never happened and I was so disappointed I was tempted to say a word I shouldn't.   :-\

*Warning- Vent Ahead*

  The stupid United States Postal Services needs to go ahead and go bankrupt.  A twelve year old on a bicycle could do a better job. Morons.
I ordered a belt for my lawnmower last Sunday, so it would come in before my day off. The shipper posted it Monday morning, Priority Mail, and sent me a tracking number. My day off came and went, sans belt.
I check the tracking number, it shows it was delivered Thursday at 12:39 pm. It may have been, but not to me or my house....and there was mail in the box so no, someone didn't take it.  I call the post office, which I live less than two blocks from.." Yeah, that's weird. She scanned it and left her at 10:30 am that day. She'd have been at your house in 15 minutes or less. At 12:39pm she would've been on the other end of her route twenty miles away."
A REASONABLE person would think it was obviously the mail person's error. Not these bozos.
"Well, it shows it was delivered, so I don't see how we can help you." What?!!? After pitching three kinds of fits he agreed to "look into it" but still didn't think he could help me. Okay. I'll play that. My $20 belt may cost me $50, but it'll cost them a tire a week. Nails are cheap.

I know chatrooms are passe these days, but I still hang out in a christian chatroom.  Well... at least I have my chat client running on the internet computer and keep half an eye on the convo while I'm fiddling with audio stuff.

So yesterday there was yet another guy in chat lamenting the fact that he was single.  He kept going on and on about how depressing it was, how he couldn't go to so many things (cited examples were traveling/sightseeing and movies) alone because it was "lame." He, I and Kirk had a long discussion about this, but Kirk and I could not prevail against his determination to be depressed.   :-\  That's the best way I can put it - he was bound and determined he was going to be depressed, and nothing anyone could say would convince him otherwise.

Question 1:  Why do some people think they have to get a partner NOW?  Why can they not be happy where they are?  I am.  Many others are.

Question 2:  If they are so unhappy alone, what makes them think having a spouse will magically fix their lives?  In my experience if you can't be happy alone you can't be happy with a partner, and the partner will get fed up with you real quick.  (Mind you, that last statement was based solely on my own observation of other people's actions.) If they get married, what do they think will happen that will make them suddenly happy with life?

:laughhard: I had to bless you for that.

I went to see more movies in my single days than I have in the 2 years I've been with Brandon. Actually I would still go to the movies alone even in the first 6 months we were dating. I'd invite him along, he couldn't go, so I'd take myself  :)

My eyes have done nothing but burn all day. Seasonal allergies, they are painting in the evenings at work, the single wide ashtray that is Brandon's grandma house, and now the dogs at my house because we were gone for 14 hours today and although he complains about them constantly needing to go outside Mike refuses to take them outside. Granted I love that fact the horrible 19 year old wallpaper is gone at work but there is no way to ventilate that place. No windows open and we can't prop the door open [animals escaping]. I had the worst headache today.

Good news is though, minus headache I'm finally feeling much more Heather-ish the past couple days. I seem to finally be over the whole surgery thing.

Just needed to vent a little bit.  My husband's car has been in and out of the shop for the past couple of months, so we have been sharing my truck.  Well, tonight i went to start my truck, and it wouldn't start.  The fuel pump isn't kicking on when you turn the key on.  Roscoe, as ya'll know him, came over to take a look, and seems to think the same as me... the fuel pump.   So I check the prices of a fuel pump for it and it is $265.  After putting out nearly $1500 on Robert's car, this is somewhat of a set-back.  But, Roscoe to the rescue... He is letting me drive daddy's truck for a couple of days so I can get my truck back on the road.  Don't know what I would do without him.    :reaction:

I've been hiding in my hole, where else?

Life's just been crazy. I think the last time I was actively posting here I had just found out I was in kidney failure. In the two years since, I've gotten married, had a baby boy, gotten a kidney, moved halfway across the country, and restarted my education.

I was hoping to make a return here and start posting again. Seems pretty quiet these days - facebook and texting have really killed off message boards, which is a shame - people actually punctuate on a message board. Usually.

Brandon made the mistake of asking me right after work how my day went. My reply was I hope all my coemloyees die a slow and painful death. The past 2 days have made me absolutely livid. How lazy, rude, and inconsiderate of customers and coworkers can a group of people be? I'm just over it. I'm seriously debating getting my medical bills paid and either A)immediately start looking for a new job or B)getting my rear back into school, cut my hours, then find a new job once it's complete.

I ate all four of them today. I only had enough pickle juice to make one more...so it's freezing now. But! Hope is not all gone...I also bought a new jar of pickles today. Hehehe.

Morning everyone.  Had a great visit with some friends last night.  They surprised us and came in from out of state (not Arkansas either).  We spent several hours talking with them, and I got invited to a elk hunt in Colorado.  That I must do!

I've been mulling over the idea for a while and after the horrible days [weeks/months?] I've had at work I have applied for readmission to the local state college. We shall see if I get accepted. If so I hope to apply for what they call 'fresh start' where they ignore my dismal grades from 10 years ago and I get to start over.

Off to my atrocious work environment. Thankfully I'm in the back with Tara the next 3 days. [She's not as evil as everyone else]

We need to get a winter home in Texas. It's 30* this morning.

Eating some fresh strawberries with tea this morning.  Wanting to go back to bed. But I need to catch up on laundry today. It's never ending. Baaah

Y'all are mean. Here I am, sweet, loving, gentle, compassionate, witty, handsome ,outgoing, modest- just a prince of a guy, and everybody hatin' on me. I dunno.   :sadbounce: :sadbounce:
In other news..the missing lawnmower belt never showed up and the US Postal Service refused to do anything because "It shows delivered"....this after they told me that it was no doubt misdelivered.  :pound: Fortunantly, the ebay seller took pity on me and refunded my money, so I went down to the John Deere place and bought a new one, at a substantially higher price, of course.
Then I went to church and preached my heart out, with the result of a new family who attended praying at the altar.....whether my preaching moved them to it, or perhaps they were praying I'd shut up, I know not-but the end result was them praying, so I count it a win.
And after a pleasant drive in to work with Rusty this am, and one cuppa coffee, I am prepared to start my day.....the last work day for NINE GLORIOUS DAYS!  :clap2: :clap2: (Never mind the fact that several of those days shall be consumed with spring cleaning and garden planting, at least I ain't having to wear a uniform.)
All- have a great day. Except of course John- I hope he stubs his toe- and Mel, may the bird of paradise fly up her nose- for their mean comments. And Seth, who is always deserving of smites. And Mini....Heck- a pox on all of ya! Bah. Ya all a buncha reprobates. :pound:

Modesty - The art of drawing attention to whatever it is you're being humble about.

In local news, I am off work until Monday.  Took a couple days off to go with my grandma and Sis. Harwell up to Prime Timers' (aka Old Timers') Campmeeting again this year.  I think even when I was a youth I enjoyed more and got more out of older people's camp meeting than I ever did out of Youth Retreat/Youth Congress.

Funny thing is, when I clocked in at work yesterday I had no paperwork for the order that was at that time coming off the furnace line belts.  Then Ron, the guy who usually takes over when I go on break, found some furnace line paperwork in his box.  Turns out the boss, who is well known for his bad memory, thought I wasn't going to be there that day.  Seems the problem is not that the boss thought I would be off Wednesday, but that he kept thinking yesterday was Thursday for some reason.  I bet he's gonna be real bummed when he gets to tomorrow and it ain't Saturday...

I don't seem to have any energy at all this morning. None. Anyone want to come clean my house and homeschool the boys and cook dinner? Oh, and there are some phone calls to make and errands that need to be run, too.

My question is: Do I dare get a cup of coffee to try to help the situation a bit? Or will Lil' Bean go bonkers again??..... Hmm....

My wife leaves tomorrow for a business trip.  This time she is traveling to Washington DC.  :(  I wish I could go along.

In other news, we had a...interesting...service the other night at church.  Drunk guy came in.  I had to take him out of service twice.  He finally left, then came back to "talk" to the pastor.  Pastor had much more wisdom than I did, and the guy left again.

Fun times...LOL

We have been at the Prime Timers camp meeting. Unfortunately it is currently very cold here. I saw some penguins checking in to a room, and a flock of geese said "Forget it!" and headed back south.  I think I heard the geese arguing about which direction to go, something about a left at Manitoba. On the plus side there is an Aldi here so I stocked up on dark chocolate.

Tomorrow we shall go to Alexandria, Louisiana and go to the zoo, or go to the Alligator farm we have saw advertised around here.We then will head back to God's land....the car is getting 30 mpg, so I'm happy.

Speaking of Precious - on register at work the other day, I checked out a customer, and when he handed me his CVS card I noticed he was an employee and his name was Precious! ha

Haha! I thought you were gonna say you saw someone who looked like that girl who played in that movie "Precious". Cause mom was in Cato yesterday and she said she saw someone who looked like her.

I'm back home.  Came home with a good 30+ bars of Schogetten chocolate and somewhere north of 75 new CDs.  :D  And it was a good Prime Timers' camp meeting.  Just because it's for elders doesn't mean it's worthless for younger people.  Godly values and principles are for everyone.

Making cinnamon rolls before church. Looking forward to service. I was looking forward to going to a baby shower later but I have to conserve gas for the week due to our being flat broke  :-( So I'll just take lil Bonnie's gift today then come back to spend the entire day on the laptop. [Because that's all we do.....] Very thankful that due to my lack of gallbladder that I can work full work weeks again!!!!

We walked around the college campus yesterday. I'm trying not to get too excited but I can't help it....

Two words: fluffer nutter.

Wow.

Jolene told me about this thing and I was a skeptic...so I simply bought the stuff and made some.

It sounds weird, but it's yummy.

It's bread, marshmallow cream, and peanut butter. Made into a sandwich.

I loved it! But I think I may toast the bread next time and make it better. Wow.

Any takers?

Well now you have, so try it.  Also works with a marshmallow melted in the microwave.  Don't let it inflate completely in the microwave, just until it is soft all the way through.

Just watched a YouTube Tedtalks of Richard Dawkins.  Wow. Militant atheism is what he called for. He showed very clearly how the more educated a person is, the less likely they are to believe in God.  This is what people and children are up against these days. Purposeful passive aggressive hatred of Christians in the name of science. It's worth the watch to realize how much the scientific community will indoctrinate children. Makes me love the truth if God ever more.

Eh... I wouldn't go quite that far.  I know some very well educated people who are christians.  Lee Stoneking for one.

Let us say rather that you can find "education" in whichever path you choose, and the more educated you are along the wrong path the more you will believe in it.

Then there are some who, as Jerry Clower put it, have been educated beyond the level of their intelligence.   :biglaugh:

David Bernard is highly educated and in science.

He took research from highly educated, leaders in their fields, sciences. Lee Stoneking isn't a scientist that I've ever heard. He didn't say there were no theists, it was generally 5%. And obviously I profusely disagree but he will and probably has deceived many people.

He said the burden of proof of whether there is a God is on the believer.

:hi: Lands, I'm tired. Been working myself to death, spring cleaning on the yard. Haven't even had time to text Mini, or snoop, or Taco, which is a daily thing for me. :sadbounce: The yard is looking good though, and I've got the garden halfway ready to plant the $30 worth of plants and seeds I've got. Think I overdid it on the garden size. I may need Meller to send me some seedlings to fill up the space. :freaky2:
I hauled off a trailer load of scrap metal, old appliances, ect and made $40. I celebrated by buying steaks and inviting a young couple who has been attending our church to come over for dinner. We had a great time...
And in regards to church- this young couple knew nothing about Pentecost. Problems in their past and bad backgrounds... they've been attending for a couple months now. During this time, I felt I needed to point out Scriptures to them explaining stuff like prayer for the sick, tongues, and other things, so I have...as unobtrusively as possible, being near them and when the moment was right showing them the appropriate scripture. They came and sat in one of my Sunday School classes, which turned into a question and answer session on the Holy Ghost. I told them to take their time, learn, listen, and study, and above all else let God lead them.
Sunday night- while we were out of town of course- the girl wound up at the altar sobbing and praying, nearly got the Holy Ghost. She told us tonight it was the greatest thing she ever felt, and she can't wait until tomorrow night to go pray again! She wants to get baptized, and she took a huge bag of clothes from Lou... We are overjoyed. This young couple (21 and 20) have become very special to us. They WANT to learn, but they are taking their time. I think it's good...they are getting grounded and setting down some roots. Perhaps God is sending us someone to replace those that have fallen through... :clap2: And yes, Meller, I did use part of that bible study you sent me on them..no doubt sometime soon we will conclude it..

I can't knock people who take their time.  I took a good two years to decide, while I was going to church mostly because my family went.  When I did decide though, I knew exactly what I was getting into and WHY I was getting into it.    Nobody argued me into it, nobody shouted me into it, nobody can argue or shout me out of it.

Lots of wonderful things happening all over. It's so uplifting to come in here and read about people getting the HG and disciples being made. I am OVERjoyed Roscoe!  You pretty much are teaching them a Bible study already and for some people, the lack of structure takes the pressure off rather than having a set time.  So exciting!

And I sent you hemp seeds already.  :P

Nathan got his license last wknd. It was a powerful experience that I don't have time to share right this moment. There were 10 ladies, married and unmarried, that got their licenses this time around, some local and some general.  That was a perspective changer.  And I believe there were 2 ordinations.  I am forever changed.

Tonight, a few of us are getting together for a prayer mtg.  We will see what God will do with that for His glory.

Oh. And it's supposed to snow this week. Today will be nearly 80 again. Lol

Ten ladies out of how many total license applicants?  What was the percentage?

I hear that back when the pentecostal movement began, something like 43% of ministers were women.  Don't ask me to back it up though, that figure was quoted in a UPCI Youth Congress class.
Title: Re: Heather's back, and not so blue, she has less gall in SHARING 482
Post by: Melody on May 01, 2013, 04:23:09 PM
Nathan thinks 21 total got a license of some sort.  I know two from Urshan were getting their general.  That makes about 70 licensed ministers in our section. Idk how many in our state.

Someone asked me why women, especially married would want theirs.  I didn't know since that's not something I'm interested in.  But last wknd I asked a few that I know and the answers were pretty awesome with very meek spirits.

It does stretch far beyond the pulpit though.  There's foreign missions- teaching in their Bible schools, so many if not all? hospitals and prisons, even womens' prisons require a general license which is a chaplan's status.

I would be glad to hear some of the reasons you heard.  Just out of curiosity.  It costs money every quarter to have a minister's license, so I'm assuming they want it for more than just a piece of paper that says they are officially ministers.

Post by: Melody on May 01, 2013, 04:40:07 PM
I hope that's not too controversial for you all.  Lol  I came into the UPCI thinking it was all white and perhaps chauvinist.  Grant it, that was 14 yrs ago. I am so glad it's not the case, at least in many places.  Learning the contrary blesses my heart so much because I can boldly refute when others say such. Growing up/ in the PAW I heard all kinds of things about the UPC that weren't true, or true anymore. I still hear family that is misinformmed about the UPC as a whole.  I know therebare still pockets of places that haven't grown as much yet, but they will.

Actually it did used to be all white, for purely legal reasons.  Segregation y'know.  That's why we split, because staying together would run into legal trouble, and the split was amicable and logical for the society as it was at that time.  Apparently some people didn't get the word that the split was reasonable and amicable.

The ones I listed earlier about other ministries that require a chaplan's level. Also, some wives are also having ministry opportunities toward womens functions and they not only want the training of that level of ministry but also the evidence and support of the high quality ministry they are bringing.  They want to be a part of the movement as a whole.

One friend told me that aside from the above that the UPC has poured so much into her that how could she not give back.  She said, "This is my whole life."  That gripped my heart.  She is married to a preacher and she has a servant's heart.  She wants to represent Jesus but also the UPC, apostolic-pentecostal movement.

I think many of them are already on that level and it is a career choice.  I know one lovely lady is a childrens minister.

I don't think it's about needing the card to compete or prove they're some kind of equality but that they are in fact in that  vein and pursue their license for the very reasons any man does.

I don't think that people who lack such a big world view get it, not understanding the massive amount that women are already doing around the world.  I feel like saying that because even though I am aware of foreign missions things, I had not yet seen it yet as I do now.  Perhaps Igot a bit of revelation?  There is no call for it in my life but I now see why there would be in others'.

We have women missionaries for countries already.  That's a really big deal because it's mostly administration and leadership that they're doing, having already a ton of ministry under their belts, including preaching.  Pretty facinatinv really when I step beyond my American view and see with a kingdom view.

Actually it did used to be all white, for purely legal reasons.  Segregation y'know.  That's why we split, because staying together would run into legal trouble, and the split was amicable and logical for the society as it was at that time.  Apparently some people didn't get the word that the split was reasonable and amicable.

No...lol  they really didn't.  Even the few white people in the PAW think the UPC is overall racist.  The problem is that there probably are some dysfunctional churches to point to for their evidence.  But as a whole, and I mean world wide, the UPCI is ever growing and improving.

What do you usually do?  Grab a pack of peanuts on the run?

When I was working at McDonald's it was always hectic right when I should have had a lunch break, so I never got one.  I'd just open a can of kidney beans, green beans, sweet peas or whatever, leave it in the break room and grab a bite when I went past on my way to somewhere.  My coworkers commented about it at first, but they got used to it.    Hey, a worker's gotta eat.

Anybody want to hear a funny story?  Kind of embarrassing, but if I don't tell it, Bobby probably will.   So the fuel pump goes out in my truck.  Iget it fixed and on my way to Russellville, which is about 20 miles away, the truck starts acting up on me.  Dying every time I slow down to stop.  So naturally, I'm thinking the fuel filter must have gotten some trash in it from the changing of the fuel pump.  So while at the part store in Russellville, I buy a filter for it.  Fight it all the way back to town, and get to the exit on the freeway that I needed to get off at, and it dies AGAIN, and WILL NOT START.  So, I do the only logical thing I know to do, and call the little brother.   Meanwhile still trying to start the truck.  Get it started and take off toward the house.  Pass Bobby on the way, which wasn't noticed by either one of us.  I call his cell phone and finally get ahold of him.  He turns around and comes back, only to find me on the side of the road AGAIN.   He asks me if I'm sure I have enough gas in the truck.  Well, of course........the gas hand is showing a quarter of a tank.  We get the Canyon, and my husband and I hook a chain to it, and pull it to my mechanics house.(the one who put the fuel pump in for me.)  He gets in the truck, turns the key on, and proceeds to tell me that I am out of gas! :o   How can that be possible!?!  It is showing a quarter of a tank!!!! :reaction:  So I go to town, get gas in a jug, bring it back, pour it in the truck, and VOILA!   Magic!!!   Never mind how many gas stations I passed on the way there and back that I could have stopped and got gas at!!!        In my defense though, something wasn't the same on the new pump, so now when my truck says a quarter of a tank,  IT IS EMPTY!!!  Who would have guessed that?  Talk about a bad night.............

Two things I expect to work and work right - speedometer and gas gauge.  If either one doesn't work, find a sucker to buy the car and get another one.

Though I think the gas gauge can be recalibrated.

Wow. What a weekend. The good stuff was incredibly good! Good meetings. Good food and fellowship with my Sanctuary family. And awesome church and moves of God!

But the bad stuff...it was bad. My friend Ann nearly died Friday night/Saturday morning. She is currently in MICU with double pneumonia. She looked so horrible Saturday when I saw her that I immediately burst into tears. She couldn't even talk to me cause she couldn't catch her breath. Her BP is WAY low, and she was in horrible shape. She is much better now, but still staying in the unit cause of her low BP and a few other issues. Hopefully she will get a regular room today.

Her husband needs prayer. He isn't handling her being so sick very well at all. His first wife was killed by a drunk driver, and with Ann being in the hospital all hooked to tubes and breathing things, it's really hit him hard that he could have lost her too. It's a mess.

Now this morning, I hear that yesterday two local kids drowned in the gulf, and one of OUR kids from church knew them both really well. She didn't find out about the accident till she got to school this morning and now she is freak.ing out. Several phone calls have been made and currently Krissy and Wesley are headed to TRY to get her from her moms job and she may spend the day with me. Depending all on her super controlling mother who works all the time and doesn't like her to be with anyone. She makes her stay home most times, so hopefully her mom will listen to them.

My heart is heavy this morning for many reasons.

But.

God is good.

MelodyB:  My first impulse would be to put a small speaker in her hospital room, connected to an mp3 player that was playing the style of christian music she prefers.  Preferably something that plugs into the wall, that she wouldn't have to change the batteries.  They make speakers that will play mp3 files from an inserted flash drive - a low maintenance solution.  :D

I just got this in the mail today, ordered it for my grandmother's hairdresser because she wanted to buy one but can't use a computer herself.  Gonna load up a flash drive with southern gospel and show her how to get it to shut up and start again, and let 'er rip.

Whoops!  I just noticed the price went up $15 since last Thursday when I ordered it... Oh well, you get the idea.  There are other models that are cheaper and will do the same job.

By the way guess what I caught last weekend. I caught a 7 pound... laptop. Somebody was selling it on eBay because the Windows had messed up. When I got it today I checked it and there was nothing wrong with the hardware, so I sent him a message to make sure he knew what he was selling. He said keep it because they already bought another computer.

So... would anybody like a laptop? When I get a new computer I usually find somebody to take the lowest computer in my collection, but right now I cannot think of anybody here who needs one.

By the way I should probably mention the computer I'm getting rid of is no great shakes as a computer. It will get the job done if you want to browse the internet, check your facebook, check email, watch a youtube video, etc.

Tell me what you want for it!! I've been scouring Craigslist for the last MONTH looking for an old laptop running windows xp, vista or the like for a dedicated computer for my ham shack. I want! I want! I've just got a couple programs to download to it to run my ham rig so it doesn't have to be fast or special...

So I got off work [which of course didn't go anywhere near as bad as any of my days last week] and went to Autozone to see if Brandon wanted to come eat pizza with me tonight. Park my car, start walking across the parking lot, noticed a white utility truck backing up, then hear a loud POP! Turn around to see white truck pull away from my car and my car bouncing back and forth. Nothing too bad. My front bumper is more crooked than before and I have a pretty good ding in my front fender. The best part is the dude had just been in the animal hospital a few hours earlier to get stuff for his dog.

I did however get approved time off in August to go to Youth Congress. Woot!

Yes sir...I was told they will run from xp up to 7....I was focusing on the older laptops to get as cheap as I could, being quite the cheapskate.  :biglaugh: The only programs I've got to put on it is Ham Radio Deluxe and one other program for "dx spotting" -locating where the conditions are best to talk to...

Which reminds me, Craigslist is not the place to get a computer. What you do is, go to Ebay, find every computer which fits what you are looking for and add it to your watchlist. Place a bid on each one in the last 30 seconds or so, the maximum you are willing to pay.

Eventually you will hit one that nobody else is watching and you will get it for less than you bid. It helps if you filter by memory: currently 4 gigabytes of memory or higher is enough to be sure your laptop would be useful in the near future.

Oh yeah, also filter by price or you'll spend a lot of time looking through pages of laptops at exorbitantly high prices. I usually allow 0 to $55 - I figure that will give enough clearance for the price to rise in the bidding without going too high for me.

I can't possibly catch up on all the sharing since I had Lil' Bean, but....... yes, we had a girl! :D For those of you not on Facebook (aka the friends already inundated with photos and status updates from proud aunt and uncles *grin*) her name is Arabella Hope. She was 7 lbs 15 oz, and 20 1/4 inches long. (And yes, that 1/4 inch is important, as Roscoe and I will both agree. *ahem*) She has already let it be known that she likes jazz music, snuggling, and batting her eyes at cute guys. ;) Oh, and she's VERY opinionated. But I have absolutely NO idea where THAT came from. *cough cough ahem*

Not surprisingly, her current nickname around here is Bella Bean. *grin*
