Why am I so tired ALL the time?

While folding clothes, I was remembering something from our home church.

We had a great quizzing team. One woman has four boys. Three of them were quizzing, and the youngest (4), Aaron, wanted to be a quizzer.

Stevebert asked him if he wanted to be a quizzer to learn about the Bible. He said "No."

Stevebert asked him if he wanted to be a quizzer to be smart.  He said, "No."

Stevebert asked him if he wanted to be a preacher like his big brother wants to be. He said, "No."

Stevebert said, "Then why do you want to be a quizzer?" 

Aaron said, "So I can smack the buzzo." Then hit his fist on the table like he was hitting a buzzer. :rofl:

I feel better about things today. Its funny how nice talks with understanding friends and forgiveness can make you feel better.

I need some curtains :smirk2:

Doesn't the word 'sea bed' make you want to snuggle down in some warm sand and pull  the water up to your ears so you can take a long nap?

Ummm...no, that gives me the idea that there would be sand in my swimsuit, and I HATE that.

Sitting on the beach sounds pretty good about now.

We spent a week at Disney and Sea World.  We also drove over to the coast on the Atlantic side, but didn't get to stay and play on the beach.

Oh...tourist trap.

You didnt see the REAL Florida then.

You have to come to the Panhandle to experience that. ;)

nahhh! seriously, jerry reed passed away this past monday and has been on my mind a lot since he was my tv and radio hero of the late seventies and early eighties.  

Known in country music as "The Guitar Man," singer-songwriter Jerry Reed gained recognition not only for a successful solo career but also as an actor and ace session player. Jerry Reed Hubbard was born in Atlanta on March 20, 1937. He was signed

by publisher and producer Bill Lowery to cut his first record, "If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creeks Don't Rise," at age 18. He continued releasing both country and rockabilly singles to little notice until rocker Gene Vincent covered his "Crazy Legs" in 1958.



After a two-year tenure in the military, Reed moved to Nashville in 1961 to continue his songwriting career, which had continued to gather steam even as he was in the armed forces thanks to Brenda Lee's 1960 cover of his "That's All You Got to Do." He also became a popular session and tour guitarist. In 1962, he scored some success with the singles "Goodnight Irene" and "Hully Gully Guitar," which found their way to Chet Atkins, who produced Reed's 1965 "If I Don't Live Up to It." In 1967, he notched his first chart hit with "Guitar Man," which Elvis Presley soon covered. After Presley recorded another of Reed's songs, "U.S. Male," the songwriter recorded an Elvis tribute, "Tupelo Mississippi Flash," which proved to be his first Top 20 hit.



After releasing the 1970 crossover hit "Amos Moses," a hybrid of rock, country and Cajun styles, Reed teamed with Atkins for the duet LP Me and Jerry. During the 1970 television season, he was a regular on the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour, and in 1971 he issued his biggest hit, the chart-topper "When You're Hot, You're Hot," which was also the title track of his first solo album. A second collaboration with Atkins, Me and Chet, followed in 1972, as did a series of Top 40 singles, which alternated between frenetic, straightforward country offerings and more pop-flavored, countrypolitan material. A year later, he scored his second No. 1, "Lord, Mr. Ford.



In the mid-1970s, Reed's recording career began to take a backseat to his acting aspirations, and in 1974, he co-starred with his close friend Burt Reynolds in the film W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings. While he continued to record throughout the decade, his greatest visibility was as a motion picture star, almost always in tandem with headliner Reynolds. After 1976's Gator, Reed appeared in 1978's High Ballin' and 1979's Hot Stuff. He also co-starred in all three of the Smokey and the Bandit films. The first, which premiered in 1977, landed Reed a No. 2 hit with the soundtrack's "East Bound and Down."



In 1979, he released a record comprised of both vocal and instrumental selections, Half & Half. It was followed two years later by Jerry Reed Sings Jim Croce. In 1982, Reed's career as a singles artist was revitalized by the chart-topping novelty hit, "She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft)," followed by "The Bird," which peaked at No. 2. His last chart hit, "I'm a Slave," appeared in 1983.



After an unsuccessful 1986 LP, Lookin' at You, Reed focused on touring until 1992, when he and Atkins reunited for the album Sneakin' Around before he again returned to the road. Reed released a live album in 2005.



Reed died Aug. 31, 2008, at the age of 71.

hmmmmm.... SNAP!

When the kids were small and we went crabbing in the bayou in La, we saw lots of alligators.  I was so afraid one of the kids were going to fall off the pier and I was gonna have to go in after them since I was the only one who could swim.  :o

And when Chel was crabbing off of the pier a baby alligator glided under the water and POPPED up right under her.... we got out of there because we knew the mama was close!

Did you know that the shoes were supposed to be silver, but since Television had just come out in color, the red was more catchy, but it messed up the symbolism.

What would be the symbolism of silver shoes?

The whole thing was an allegory of using paper bills over gold or silver. The gold was the brick road, she wore silver shoes and it lead them to the "emerald city" or the symbolism for money.

I need a new calendar.

We always use a page a day Bible calendar. This year some girls came to the door, selling stuff for their school, and sold us one. We never got it. Stevebert's check never got to the bank, either. So we didn't buy one like we usually do. Now, not sure we will even find one.

I need one for my wall at work, I don't like the kind you put on your desk, cause I don't really have room there.  I can look at the phone and see the date, but sometimes I need to see the whole month, or next month.

I need to get a job. I have something very special I'm saving for. *hugegrin*

We went to Books-a-million and got one for half price. Not what we like but we got one. 

We read the scripture just before praying for dinner. We also pray for one missionary a day from the publication the missions dept. sends out.

Eggs used to upset my stomach all the time but then I was able to eat them almost every day. I was in shock. Last night is the first time in a long time. The Ginger Ale worked.   :clap:

Too cheap for any of us "lower" employees but not to cheap to take their trips and eat out on the company and buy new cars for the sales guys...

It would be nice if they'd think of the "lower" employees once in a while.

I was only charging $3 a kid an hour in NY, and they thought that was way too high. I told them to go get daycare, then cuz they charge a lot more than I was. I did it because I knew the people I was babysitting for were struggling while going to school.

depends...daycare usually runs out at 20 a day or 80 a week for 5 days, so if u were charging 8*3...thats 24*5 is 120...so that is more...

I wasn't doing day care, I was only babysitting a few hours a time and not every day. Daycare, they'd have to pay the regular rate whether they're there all day or a few hours.

yeah...

We charge 15 a day...

I am babysitting Lona tomorrow from 1 to 5. fun fun! especially since I am shampooing the carpets too.

i think dyslexic people can break codes easier than most other people... cause they can look at stuff in codes and just see what it says without realizing its in code... :grin:

I discovered this from my ice skating days.

If you put on too many pairs of socks, you cut off your circulation and your feet will get cold anyway. Better to put on one really thick pair than lots of others. 

i don't have a really good thick pair. sigh....
