Why are there flotation devices in the seats of planes instead of parachutes?

because if there was one in a parachute, it would get in the way when they landed... or people would sit down on it and stop paying attention to where they were going and land on someones head... and we all know how that would end up :o

John  :waving:

Umm... that's hard to say... although... yesterday, on the last day of 2007, i had apparently charmed one more. He told me that i ''wasnt the ugliest thing he had ever seen" Wow! that guy made my day! hehe!
now if you had asked how many proposals i had gotten, that would be easier to narrow down! hehe

:beret:

SLEEP! hehe! well, actually... when i get a day off, i usually spend it working somewhere, or over at my sisters house. She has this new baby you see, and i kinda like it! hehe! isnt she adorable?

you mean i have to grow up? RATS! lol. I have always wanted to be in the medical field... although i got in trouble when i was younger because i would have to have a hurt patient first so i could play nurse... or that time we got in trouble for playing 'surgery'... or that time when i poured rubbing alcohol on my dad's hand to 'help' when he wasnt ready... haha! anyways... i just really want to be in something that puts me in a place where i am helping someone. I dont think i would mind living oversea's either... I dont know what God has in store for me for my future, but whatever it is, im sure interested in it cause he has kept me alive more than once to see it happen!

Did i ever tell you guys im blessed?

Because if they are truely random... that means i can either make up an answer and be creative... or i can tell you a small part of what makes me who i am! hehe. like i will have something that happened... that you dont know about and i can share, or i can say something that will make you wonder... hehe

Well, i honestly dont know how many were serious... I just assumed that none of them were serious... that way i didnt feel bad about it! hehe! Joking ones? Well, I think part of that comes with working with the public... there are going to be those who joke around with you, or else your job would be boring! lol.

I personally like ktchup on french fries, on potatoe wedges, on fried mashed potatoes, on tater tots, on potatoe patty thingies that you get at mc-donalds...ugh. i forgot what they are called! Hash browns! yeah! thats it! lol.

one reason why it wouldnt be as good to some is because when you try to dip your mashed potatoes in it, it gets kinda icky because when the potatoes fall off the fork into the ketchup, it makes a bad splash, and all of the sudden you have red ktchup (do they still hve that green and blue and purple ketchup) all over your face, which can be rather dstracting to people driving beside you (because of course you are eating it in a car) and it casues them to have a wreck becuase they are trying to figure out how you are driving with your face all caght-up in ketch-up (they think you are hurt of course) and then they end up getting hurt! how ironic!

So thats why most people dont like mashed potatoe and ketchup together!

Or- i guess i could call that guy i have liked for forever and tell him, cause i wouldnt have to face the consequences... lol
or, i guess i could order pizza...

oh, you mean honestly? I would call my parents and tell them i loved them, and i will see them on the other side. It will mean more to them than to anyone else, and they are the ones that will remember how old im supposed to be long after everyone forgets i ever existed. Letting go is one hard thing to do...

the fortune cookie, as we know it, began long ago, but has only recently in the last year (to my knowledge) evolved into another free advertizing gimmick, where you open the cookie and expect to have some insane bit of information in there... only to find the following:

Enjoy your dinner? Buy one to go too!

yeah, thats a fortune for sure... my foot!

and TeacheroftheLord... you sure you want to ask me what your fortune is? lol! that could get a little scary! I could come up with some pretty random answers there... in fitting with my random self

no, it was a phrase used here by some of my older relatives when they really want to do something but know's it isnt possible to do it at the moment... like go to heaven... thus the one way ticket home... meaning they are ready to go to heaven, but its not possible to do at the moment. Lady Chel,

What type(s) of music do you like?

John  :waving:
Title: Re: starlight starbright, lets ask sunlight tonight
Post by: sunlight on February 10, 2008, 08:10:54 AM
I have a huge music collection... BUT... it is all Christian. I didn't like what listening to non-christian lyrics was doing to my thought process, and even my attitude... so I decided to just listen to Music that serves the purpose it was created for... to glorify God. (although i have listened to and liked some things that dont fall under the totally christian title... like Phantom of the Opera, and the Wizards in winter by Trans-Siberian Orgchestra,  its pretty amazing... here are a couple random links to it... the last two are a light show to it with christmas lights thats kinda neat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CCSeugClR8 and http://www.metacafe.com/watch/45390/wizards_of_winter/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-B5A4iJZyo&NR=1 )

under the catergory of Christian... i like almost anything except Christian rock or rap. I never have been able to get past the fact that the beat influences the impact of the music... so much sometimes that it can possibly negate the words... or make the song somehow cheaper. (please note that this is a personal opinion and you don't have to agree with it... so don't get mad if you disagree with me please! Thanks!)

I grew up listening to Bluegrass and my dad playing the banjo, my uncle on the fiddle, and my sis on the mandolin while my other uncle and papa played the guitar... I have friends who sing in a country-christain type band, some who sing in a contemporary band, so i like at least some of these areas. I could list off tons of artists that i have in my computer, but that would take forever... Most Christan artists have at least one song that i like... lol

I have a special place in me that LOVEs the old hymns... like the ones out of the songbook... and the ones out of the songbooks before they replaced them with the ones we have now... you know... as long as we live as humans... the songs we sang about hundreds of years ago.... God is still the same and does what he did back then.

I also like most of IBC, JMC, and other chiors too. Its neat hearing tons of voices praising God like that! and they do a great job of drowning me out when i sing along too! lol

The songs i like the most are the ones that make me think, and realize just how blessed i am.

I think i wrote a book... lol

I think i wrote a book... lol

WOW...Ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto...I SO could have wrote that whole thing myself....

I have been thinking about you today. I loaded "Be Still" on my Ipod last night, and I have been singing it all day... :sing: "We are not alone....." :sing: That part makes me think of you.

:)

I got a sermon tape you need to hear about Music... You will love it. If you feel that way about it, you will love this sermon, it is one of my all time favorites.

Have you ever been to Youth Congress? If so, did you go in 2001? In Atlanta? Thats where I heard this sermon, and when I changed my whole view about music, and what I listen to. When I cam home from that trip, I threw most of my "Christian" cds away...its all about the spirit behind the music.

Awesome post!!

Honestly?

Not really. That's what I like about GP... It is made up of a group of really diverse people, and for everyone that is new that comes, there seems to be at least one or 2 seasoned geepers that connect with them, pull them in, make them feel welcome.

That's one awesome thing to see... especially when its not so much like that in real life sometimes...

Thanks GP guys, you are awesome! I am really greatful for yall.

haha! how did i see this coming... Well, just cause you 2 are scaredy cats... I'm gonna be like AB and answer it!

what does it take to get my attention? - not much! lol. that is the easy part, especially when you take into consideration that i have been accused of having ADD *cough* and such... and i am easily distracted from the task at hand a lot of times... lol. So what would it take? a smile, a wink, a handshake, a conversation, a letter, pizza, chinese food, attention... lol.

the hard part would be keeping my attention... To do that, you would have to show me that...

and lots of other things... but why go into it here? lol. Now will you answer it mel?

If i came to indy, it would be because I wanted to meet all the people up there, that I wouldnt have the chance to meet otherwise, like Mel, and YOU, and cheese again, and Justin, and whoever else of course. Maybe even Injen... and a few of my other friends who live up there. Maybe for an interview at a hospital up there. But honestly, it doesnt lok like that is going to happen with the way my teacher is acting...

besides, I dont have to go to indy to meet soggy or ethyl or coolguy... they LIVE in my state...

why of course not!

but on the drive home this morning...Yes! I did! haha! I had just FINALLY gotten to my car at like 1:30, so i drove for a while to find a waterburger so i could charge my dead phone, so i got a honey-chicken-biscuit and a cup of tea, charged it for a few min so it would last till i got home, and then went again cause i wanted to get home before 3. Well... i was driving, and taking a drink of my tea... and all the sudden wondered why my lap was getting so cold so suddenly. haha! apparently the lid wasnt on all the way and i spilled it all down my skirt! i was glad i had already stopped and gone to the RR... or it would have been great seeing all the funny looks i got if i did stop again! haha!

No... because im not. The only thing that is good in me is my God. REG... believe me, i know me a lot better than even you do! or even better, just ask my mom... BOL. She knows me a lot better than you do too! haha! I hate doing dishes, i have a really messy room, i have a hard time with deadlines- im eather really early or it dosent get done (because i forget about it, or have other stuff that is more pressing) i procrastinate like nobody's business, i have a lot of personal struggles, and I am sarcastic, immature, have an image complex, and am a long way from where i should be. BOL. yeah. that's not awesome.

But- im forgiven, and still in the process, so all hope is not lost yet! Thus- the only thing good in me is Jesus. He is awesome.

Yes, but the awesome thing about you is, you let your awesome Jesus shine thru you, I can see Him in you, and that m'dear, makes you awesome too.

You may have all those faults, but like you said, you are forgiven, AND you have a great heart, a genuine love for people, and a TRUE love for your God. That is something that is very special, and not what you find in the average person, or even the average Christian....you are special Chel, really and truly. And I love you for it.

Know what I think would be cool? You know how they make that layered pumpkin cheese cake? That would be cool to do with brownie batter and cheesecake! (and then cooked of course, which might be the hard part if they have dif. cook times.)

other ideas:
chocolate chip cookies, apple bread with cream cheese icing, fried pies, oatmeal cookies, layered pudding, etc.

What character traits do you most admire in others?
What traits do you most despise?
If you could play any instrument without having to learn and practice... what would it be?
How tall is tall?

Title: Re: starlight starbright, lets ask sunlight tonight

What character traits do you most admire in others?
- their ability to laugh things off, not get offended, to make others comfortable, to do what is right in the hard times, to know how to apologize when you know you are wrong, to be totally in love with my God, to want to do what is right...
What traits do you most despise?
- manipulative traits, unable to stand up for themselves, always picking on people smaller/weaker than them, not being totally sold out to God, which shows up in actions, character traits, and every decision that is made honesty.
If you could play any instrument without having to learn and practice... what would it be?
- the guitar, or piano, or bass, or violin, or flute
How tall is tall?
- hehe... why are you asking this question? are you referring back to another question that wasnt on here? hmm... how should i answer this?
there are many answers to how tall is tall-
tall grass- 2 feet
tall buildings- more than 4 stories
tall people- taller than me...by at least 6 inches REG
tall trees- the redwoods
tall dreams- ones that might not come true in the next 5 years
tall wishes- the one i wished the other night on that shooting star
tall puppies- mine that comes up to my waist... lol
tall heels- 4 or more inches

Title: Re: starlight starbright, lets ask sunlight tonight
Post by: sunlight on May 12, 2008, 10:51:57 PM
5 or 6? umm, it might be hard to narrow it down that far... lol

She goes wholehartedly into whatever she is doing
she almost always finishes what she starts
She is a great niece maker!
The way she got the holy ghost
she still likes me after all i did to her when we were enemies... sisters can be pretty rough to each other. I'm glad im not 14 anymore.
she is almost  always punctual, which fits well with my personality traits... lol
she likes to go to church
she loves ben, even if sometimes its hard to find ways to express herself
she is a fighter- she always protected the underdog if there was one to protect
she is very competetive- which sometimes got us into trouble...
she is the most awesome person to have for an assistant- she helps me get stuff done in a timely manner, which is so against my personality. Im the type of person that if i dont do it right when you ask, it might never get finished.
She doesnt get mad at me too bad when i procrastinate and have to be reminded again and again because i simply procrastinated so long i forgot i was supposed to be doing it...
umm, this list could go on and on and on, i have plenty of stuff from years of experience...! lol
she is full of great ideas, thoughts, and inspirations!
she is a GREAT poet and singer! dude, sometimes i wish i could do it like her... but i cant.
oh yeah, and there were a few times that she kept me from getting in trouble when i really deserved it.

MY SISTER IS AWESOME! too bad guys, she is already married! nananannana! lol! you cant have her!

umm, these 3 questions kinda overlap majorly! lol. i decided not  to seperate the answers, its to intertwined... lol

Did you know that 'possums don't "play dead" — when frightened, they become overexcited and actually pass out?

Ok...so WHEN are you gonna answer the question? Hmm. I haven't really decided yet. It's quite a hard question, with lots of things attached to it... :bigcheese: And why do I always feel like you are ignoring me? :hypocrite: hmm, is it because we were brought up 2 different ways.. or have 2 different personalities that kinda contradict each other... where you are the type that is actually very good at talking even if you dont have something you need to tell someone, and you are great with talking every time you are online... and i struggle with small talk, and feel like a bother if i talk to someone who is online every time they show up. I have a hard time talking unless there is a reason, or unless there is something i need to say. I promise... I am sure i have hurt tons of people's feelings, (and not just the handful that have mentioned it) by not talking to them when they are on IM- while in my eyes i see it as not bothering them if they are busy.  Maybe one day I will grow up and be more like you... we can only hope right? /me hugs Mel
Title: Re: starlight starbright, lets ask sunlight tonight
Post by: MelodyB on May 28, 2008, 12:20:35 AM
Aww.

Ok...for the record, if you SEE me on IM, that means that I CAN talk, and if you want to, you can IM me. I will tell you if I am busy and I really cant talk right now, but really, as a general rule, if you can see me, that means that I want to talk to you. :)

I am also not the type to IM just cause someone is online, except to those who I know are like me, if they are SEEN, then it is ok to talk to them.

AND....here I was thinking that we are too much alike in some ways is why we contridict each other. LOL

And no, you dont wanna grow up to be like me. Thats not exactly a good thing.

/me hugs Chel tighter.

I met a total of:
3 people my mom had met before
7 people my mom has heard about but not met yet
2 people i had seen before
3 people i had never met, and was really excited to meet
and
3 computer problems got taken care of
2 projects got completed and dropped off
1 external/internal hard drive bought and configured and working :hyper:
and one absolutely amazing day that i didnt want to see end. Ya know, that is the only bad thing about getting to do something finally that you have wanted to do for a long time... as soon as you leave, it turns from the "wow, i am so glad to be doing this" to "man, i wish it wasnt already over now". so... i guess you have to decide before you go... is the letdown going to be worth the tradeoff? In this case- it definately was! I am very glad i had this weekend.

A bunch of people from my church went to Guatemala last week. They built a church there. This is the third year that our church has sent people over there and built a church, but the first time we have been to Guatemala. They should be back tomorrow or Monday. We saw pictures Wednesday night. It was awesome.

And they are working in the childrens home there too. The ladies are, while the men built the church.

Well, the last 2 years they went to Dominican Republic. It was just guys that were allowed to go, and they built churches there. Then this year, they said they were going to Guatemala to visit Bro Thomson and build a church there, and that the ladies could go and help out in the childrens home. A lot of our youth went too. Its great...I think they are back now though.

I cant believe I forgot to tell you.

Courtney took her laptop, and she has been uploading pics to her Myspace page. I dont know if you have to be her friend to see them or not, but you can try. She has 74 pics so far, and most of them are of her and the other youth and ppl from our church, but there are a few of the others. I will have to look at the other MySpace pages of the ppl who went to see if they uploaded any.

Leicee went, and her Mother.

Not sure if it'll work for you or not, or if you have Windows Movie Maker, but...

You can rotate video clips in Windows Movie Maker by doing the following:

1. Import the video clip into Windows Movie Maker.

2. Drag the imported video clip and drop it onto the timeline.

3. On the Tools menu, click Video Effects.

4. To rotate the video clip to the right, drag the Rotate 90 video effect and drop it onto the movie on the timeline.

-or-

To rotate the video clip to the left, drag the Rotate 270 video effect and drop it onto the movie on the timeline.

5. On the File menu, click Save Movie File and follow the instructions in the Save Movie Wizard.

Black ink, or blue ink, or bright colored ink? i have tons of each in my humongous pen collection! lol
How far can I run without running away? as soon as you turn around and head the other direction... you are running away... but sometimes you need to do that... for your own safety, or for the safety of others. Running is not always a bad thing...
Does Saturn really have a ring around it? yes and no. yes it does it you are taking a picture of it... becuase you are freezing a blur. no if you are talking about in reality- its just particles that are not connected... but yes- because it's a ring of particles... but no- because the ring is not solid... but yes- because...

Who is your hero?
How many brothers and sisters do you have?
What did people call you when you were a child?
Do you have a favorite song?
Favorite verse of scripture?
Favorite book of the Bible?
Favorite children's song?

Who is your hero? I have lots of people that i look up to and hope to have some of their characteristics in me by the time i get 'growed up'. I ultimately want to be more like Jesus- enough so that people can see him when they look at me- which is hard at the moment because my selfish-stubborn-demanding-troublemaking flesh keeps getting in the way.
How many brothers and sisters do you have? one of each and thats plenty thank you very much!
What did people call you when you were a child? thats for me to know and forget and you not to find out... kids are cruel.
Do you have a favorite song? i have a favorite style... but to many to be able to say i have a favorite... there are those that are on my mental playlist that i sing all the time... and then those that i listen to when im doing specific tasks... and those that are favorites when tis time to exercise... I have lots of favorites then i guess!
Favorite verse of scripture? dude... there are so many scriptures that have made such an impact on my life. There are those that will always hold special places in my brain... the promises that God told me was mine... the hints that God showed me in his word on how to get through some things... ya know, the word of God is what you need it to be right then...
Favorite book of the Bible? Ephesians.
Favorite children's song? A Friend Like You by Son Canyon off of the summer camp CD... what is that called? whatever it is, i forgot the name of it, but its where they do the camp thing for kids for a week... VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL! yeah! its from that! BOL! i membered!

Or sad because you get phone calls at work, that you cant answer... and you really want to, and so you answer anyways and tell them you will call them back in a bit when you get lunch... (which is SUPPOSED to be in 30 min) but then the whole unit goes crazy, you end up having to restrain a patient because he is throwing glass and breaking stuff, and yeah... you dont get lunch till 3 in the morning, by which time they are already in bed alseep... and wont be able to answer the phone.

yup, thats when working nights stinks.

I like the fact that its there when im bored... and it can wait when im busy... unlike chat.
Its an awesome place to make new friends... and get to see what people from TOTALLY different places think, and still all be part of a same... kinda... in an odd sort of way... church? It's neat to see the ways different people get along... or not. And what they do to make up for it when they dont.
Its also fun watching mel and AJ and TL get in trouble...

ok, just kidding!

but i have made some really cool freinds on here... and i will never forget them! /me hugs her friends!
