view of my city skyline from my living room. from my couch, actually.
JOLENE!! look what i did all by myself!
Wow, Kris! That's a stunning photo! I love pictures with all kids of geometric shapes going on, and that one certainly has them. :thumbsup2:
:beret:
That's an AWESOME picture!! I LOVE it!! We're proud of your fine artistic talent, Kris!!! ;)
well, actually, i was more excited by the fact that i figured out how to load it into photobucket and paste it here since i had jolene heather doing that for me. :laughhard:
i do like how the colors and shapes work in this pic, though. it was such a GLORIOUS day out on saturday.
nic, i'm sure you're even closer to skyline than i am. i'd love to see some city pics from you.
Beautiful!! And to think...I've been there!! Woo hoo. Two thumbs way, way up. :great:
Now it's your turn to teach me how to do the picture thing. My GP mommy...
oh my word . . it's so easy . .
by the way, you might know jolene heather. she is actually from wausau, but now lives inthe south somewhere. she knew j from camps, etc. and i think she's about your age. hhhmm . .small GP world.
i think she's adopted me, too . . . how many kids do i have anyway? ??? does that mean i get to really cash in on mother's day?
Did you forget to pay your electric bill?
Great Job Kris. With the picture and the upload lol. Looks like you have an awesome apartment!

Don't say that word, it'll make OGIA cry.
it's all about setting the right calming atmosphere. . . . trust me . .OGIA understands all about needing to be calmed after spending a day on the bus!!
thanks, guys. yep, terp, i daresay you have seen that view from many angles!

My view isn't that nice!! It's all residential stuff, nothing interesting!! In fact, I'm going to put curtains up to cover the view ;) lol - but I'll take a pic of it when we move in anyway... We'll be in our new place in a couple of weeks!! YAY!!
Here's the view from some places near Nic's hometown! I tried to find the pics of the view from your parents' house, but can't locate them at the moment, Nic. I think I posted them on EC, so maybe I'll just lift them from there. :-)

Ok, THIS is the thread I meant to post these in.
If I displayed any pictures here from our current house, it would show a bunch of old farm houses, run down barns, and even more run down FORD tractors.
THESE pics are from our future backyard! I honestly don't know how people in Wisconsin who know we are moving, can still say "But won't you miss the pretty scenery and rolling hills?". Ha!
And RainbowJingles, the scenery in your pictures looks great as well!

But I'm looking forward to going "back home" to Hong Kong too!!
Be sure to give everyone BIG HUGS for me, Nic!

This picture is a gala (I think) eating an orange at Featherdale wildlife park. It was a fun day there!
May sound morbid to some, but I WANT so much to travel to NYC to see Ground Zero and of course the other touristy places. I also want to go to OKC to see the memorial. I've read SOOOO much in depth material on both tragedies.
Not morbid at all, Nelle. My family drove to DC not too long after 9/11 and saw the damage there. It was very sobering to say the least.
It was a gallah - but you spelt it wrong ;)
cool pics youse guys.
ron - that's an awesome shop of Ground Zero.
i've been to GZ a couple of times, nic. it makes you reflect. there's "business as usual" all around you and some people who do NOT want to see it and then there's those who . . .just look. it's very interesting. the crossbeams are just plain cool to see.

"Generate HTML and IMG code" (I think that's what it says)
and choose the message board thumbnails code. That's best. Then people can see the small version and click if they want to see it bigger.

that's a fabulous pic from GZ. i love the contrast of the three phases . . . the place that you can't get beyond, the cross standing alone in the middle of the destruction, and then the building beyond that wasn't moved and is in the middle of being cleaned. it's like a message of respect and hope and determination to get past the hurt, to rebuild, to continue.
that's probably way more than you meant when you took it, but that's what i see. very, very cool.
All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!! Ya'lls pics are so amazing!!!!!!!!! I just got a really nice digital camera today, so, I know what I will be doing tomorrow!!!!!

What struck me about the whole thing was the fence the authorities put up that kept people away from the cross...
It spoke to me about the fences certain religious authorities put up to keep people from the cross of Christ... and their redemption.

Love the pics Newkris!! We rarely ever get snow here.....we've had flurries twice all winter. :smirk2: Your snow is gorgeous!
thanks Amber! youse guys are all welcome to come and share the snow. in fact, you could come over now and we'll build a snowman - if i can find a yard to play in . . . not so much fun to build a snowman alone, but this is PERFECT snowman weather!
and NM - i liked those pics in b&w. i thought that was very classy.
Kris, that first one you posted is amazing!! :great: I really, really like it, and you'd be more than welcome to frame a copy and send it to me for my birthday later this year! ;)
I love the way there's a glow on the snow in the street, the way the individual snowflakes look like stars, and it makes me want to go take a midnight stroll. *sigh*
:beret:
i'll keep that in mind! of course, i liked the last one best - my skyline! i have gotten quite a collection of that skyline. the building that has the "diamond crown" is called the IDS Center. it has a waterfall inside of it . . absolutely gorgeous! the first time i came to Mpls i happened on that particular building and found the waterfall and the whole atrium so . . . calming and . . friendly. so . . that's why that's my favorite building. never expected to have a view of it from my living room!
yeah, if i wasn't alone, i would surely be taking a midnight stroll tonight! everything is white and sparkly and quiet and untouched. not a creature is stirring out there! and it looks like my office may be closed tomorrow so i don't have to go to bed early!

Isn't it great after a snowfall how everything is hushed? I love it. To me, it's like God is giving me space to exhale. Life gets so crazy at times, but when I can get out for a moonlight stroll in a fresh snow....Ahhhh! It's as if I can breathe again.
:beret:
Last night after we got home from dinner, I asked Bernard if he wanted to go for a walk with me. He just gave me a look like "What on earth are you thinking!?!?!" like it was the craziest question he'd ever heard ;) So I didn't get to go for my walk!! ;)

Thats you Kris? You are very pretty, and the kids are so cute!
that's me, mel, rare GP kris-sighting . . . ;) and my grandbabies. they are so much fun. mav is talking up a storm . . . has something to say about absolutely everything!! and anna is this determined, bold little thing pushing her way wherever she wants to go! fun, very, very fun! me and mav's favorite game it to take pics of ourselves. totally distracts him anytime he starts to get bored. so, needless to say, i have all these odd pics of myself holding the camera to take our picture. it's fun.
I agree - It's a lovely picture, Kris!
I agree, too. You're beautiful, and the angelbabies are absolutely precious! ;)

No but for mothers day David is buying me the camera I want, it cost around 800 bucks. And I put some job apps in at some photography places... to get some experience. Also If I get into McNesse this fall, I hope to take some classes. I am getting more and more people who want me to take their pictures now though. The way I see it, I have to build up a "fan base" first. Get my name out there, and eventually It will be something I can do to make money. But until I build up a name... street credit... if you will, I can't REALLY charge money. There is definatly room for improvement in my photography, and experience is the best teacher so... Im suppose to do someones family portrait in a few weeks though. =)
How fun for you , Jo!! I hope you love your new camera and get some terrific experiences with it to build that resume. :thumbsup2:
I really like your work!

I know this is probably going to be a dumb question, but, is that stadium near Jennie?
She said it was in Cleveland, and they are wearing Indians hats. I dont know how close that is to LaPorte.
I was just thinking if it's close by, then you need to get a photo taken there with them and post it here. :great:
It took us about 4 hours and 45 mins to get there. lol. The Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs are much closer! lol. And since Mel Mel is coming into Chicago we'll probably show her one of those stadiums :D* lol

You can't go by braces when judging age. I have known 3 people to have braces in their 40s and two in their mid-30s, and probably could think of more if I tried. Trix are for kids, not braces. :goodmod:
Trix are for rabbits.
Silly rabbit! :silly:

The walkway of my apartment complex (isn't it gorgeous?) :-)
It's absolutely beautiful Rainbow!!
For an apartment, it's awesome. Especially in this area. My corner of the world (if you look along the walkway, you can see little openings in the fence; my garden is in one of those openings) has a little garden, just the right size for me, with a rose TREE and a baby rose bush and a couple azalea bushes interspersed with some potted plants and a star jasmine vine that has taken over my section of fence. :-) The more I look at the star jasmine, the more I think I should have it in my wedding.

Hey! I recognize that opera house and bridge! Of course I live in Sydney, but that's beside the point.
Oh btw all, on Tuesday we had the coldest morning in 20 years over here. Normally it only ever snows up in the mountains, and I live in the suburbs nearish the city, and there was frost on the grass and my mum's windshield was covered in frost! This hadn't happened in Australia ever in my lifetime, and if it had, I was too young to remember....or care.

Look at how long her hair is!! I remember when mine looked like that! WOW!
Are they really close, or was that a rare moment and they try to kill each other normally?
I don't know, normal I'd say. They aren't cuddly unless it'll bug the other one...lol But they play pretty well together. Though I noticed a while back when a kid was mean to Hannah at church, Andrew consoled her. They didn't know I was across the room.
MY, those have to be the most darling smiles I've seen in a while. You have beautiful children!

Beautiful pics!! :great:
Looks like such a relaxing place.
But a really good way to deal with a speeding ticket is to pay it and don't speed again........ or so I hear. :hypocrite:
For some reason in this photo, I came out looking like a ghost faded into the photo....I still haven't figured out what happened!!!
the shutter was open for a long time and you moved. So it "caught" your movement.
while out of that series that would have been the best one had it came out normally....but I do like the "ghost" effect that happened.
I'm not much of a pro but I though I share few masterpieces :freaky2:
My wee artwork
(http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d188/mvausey/artwork.jpg)
My amateur shot of the moon from my father-in-law's hubble telescope via my hubby's mobile phone
(http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d188/mvausey/DSC00164.jpg)
WAY back years ago when we just moved to Sydney while I'm at the carpark, then I saw this dog in the car next door I though it looked funny
(http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d188/mvausey/mychauffeur.jpg)
Some of those landscape pics are really good, Brandon. What river is that?
And mvausey, I really like the moon shot. Very cool.
:beret:
It's called ash creek, about 5-7 miles from the church I attend in a place called Robbers' cave State park.
Very pretty spot!
:beret:
it is beautiful, wonderful to take a boat down, but full of death....copperheads and water mosicans
*shudders* Okay, never mind then. LOL
:beret:
it's not too bad...just don't stick your hand under any rocks....without poking your brother's leg there first! :biglaugh:
Most of the time when humans come down that area, the snakes take off......the area of the the river from a distance is fairly safe, and the big body of water with a hill behind it is safe, we baptized there for years!
Maylyn - is that first pic you??
I LOVE the moon pic too - really awesome!! My hubby loves telescopes too - he has one, but it's in Australia - not that we'd use it in Hong Kong anyway - there's nothing to see in the night sky here!!
The dog is funny too - he looks like he's buckled in going somewhere ;)

Yep! That's me on the first pic. Late at night can't sleep so I took a random pic of me from my phone, dowlnloaded to my pc then fiddled with it via photo editor. Pretty amateur but I felt fulfilled
Pretty amazing what mobile phones can do now. It took us a bit to get that shot at the moon because it kept moving.
And about the dog, yeah I was in the car waiting for my hubby to do his errands at the shop then I saw this dog that looked like he's about to take off with the car. And it happened that I have a camera handy

Are you sure about that?
Here are some pics from Maine. My sister and I drove through on a road trip back in 2003...fabulous state: highly recommended for anyone who cares to ramble.
Watch out for moose, and sign posts warning about them:

Oh yeah, highway 1 !
Here's that great rock to climb on Acadia...see the road and parking lot way down there?
Who said you couldn't do it in a skirt?
Although heels might be going a bit far...
One of my favorites: we were at a lighthouse on the southern tip of Acadia ( I think ), and looking to the West, we could see the sun setting across the water, and to the East, the moon; rising from the sea. *sigh*

It is so beautiful. There is nothing like Maine in the summer. I say road trip.

For the most part if you leave them alone they will leave you alone.
If you are travalling down Route 1 and stopp at Len Libby Candy you can see a life size chocolate moose.

Maine!!!! Yay! Fall is just around the corner, my favorite Maine season! :clap2:  :clap2:
I now live in Florida. I have made some wonderful new friends here. I am still adjusting. I have to laugh when the temperature drops below 70 degrees they complain about the cold.

Thanks I think you missed this part :hi:
I was referring to our different "thermostats".
I once knew some folks from Maine who told us they liked "aht". When we asked them what that was, they said, "You know! Aht! AHT! It hangs on the wall..?"
:biglaugh:
:laughhard:
Yeah, eyeore puts her clothes in the "draws" after she "warshes" them. :laughhard:

Most of us Maine-uhs don't pronounce the R sound in words. I do, but, I have many friends who talk like that. It's really hard to understand it at times. Car = cah
Door = Doah
Hair = Haya
Ok, so I've not been on for a while, because I went to play my fingers off at Djangofest NW.
Here are a few photos from the event...it was a blast!
Sebastian, from the group Norig is on the left, and is utterly amazing. Ivan is in the middle...soon to be one of those people you say "I knew him when...." about. Not sure about the other kid on the right...and that's Ira from B.C., enjoying the music.
Ira, Jon, Aaron...nice accordian playing, for a guitar player!
Ack, I should know their names...the guy with the baseball hat is from Hotclub Pacific...Larry Coryell played with them on Saturday night. Then there's Ben, Spencer (in the cool hat), and Jakob on violin
(http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h229/classicrambler/papillo.jpg)
The mighty Micheal Papillo...from right here in Portland!
Fine fellowship, to be sure...if they were only a little more Apostolic, and didn't drink quite so much...:guitar:
Schweeeeeeet!!!! And.... why wasn't I invited along?.....Again. :sadbounce:
Okay, seriously.... fun pics! :thumbsup2:
:beret:
Djangofest is open to all who want to go. No invitation necessary.
See you there next year?
Blah.
Maybe. I'll invite myself to ride in your van. :D
Besides, you know I can't play that stuff.... I'd just be a gawker. ;)
:beret:
Believe me, the whole town is gawking when we're up there. You'd fit right in.
