We need rain, too. We are now under a burn ban.

Quote from: Roscoe on August 19, 2026, 12:44:58 AMStrangely enough, when we changed from pews to chairs, everyone loved them- and now I hear constantly "Can we buy some pews?"  Sheesh.
And in sharing- we had a storm come through yesterday that dumped around 2 inches of much needed rain. It also took my power with it, which action was NOT needed or desired. So, after being without power for 18 hours, and stressing about my three freezers full of meat, I took off to day, raided the savings account and went to Harbor Freight. I WANTED a small generator, but they were out so I wound up buying a 10k watt generator. Overkill much? :biglaugh:
Our electric company was forcasting late tonight or tomorrow for power to come back on. As I tightened the last nut on the wheel kit of my new generator, those turds showed up. An hour and a half after my generator went online, they got my power back on. Thanks. I kinda needed to KEEP that large chunk of cash. :pound:  :pound:  :pound:  Oh well, at least I have a generator that'll power half the neighborhood if power goes out again.  :smirk2:
And it wasn't TOO hot today, only 93. Almost a pleasant fall day. I cut the lawn and cleaned up some stuff..

10k didn't sound like overkill to me, so I googled how many 240v ACs a 10k generator could power. Google said:

A 10 kW generator can typically power one central 240-volt air conditioner (up to 3 to 4 tons) or two smaller 240-volt window/mini-split units.

While a 10,000-watt generator has enough running power for multiple small units, the massive surge (starting) wattage required by compressor motors usually prevents running more than one large central AC at the same time.

Power Requirements for 240V Air Conditioners
Central AC (2 to 3 Ton): Uses about 2,000 to 3,500 running watts, but needs 4,000 to 7,000 surge watts to start.
Central AC (4 to 5 Ton): Uses about 3,800 to 5,000 running watts and can require 11,000+ surge watts, which can overload a 10 kW unit unless a soft-start kit is installed.
Large 240V Window / Mini-Split Unit: Uses about 1,200 to 2,000 running watts and around 3,000 to 4,000 surge watts.

So yeah, 10k sounds like a good house generator with a healthy spare capacity, without being ludicrous overkill.

I got to see my mom and her remaining brothers and a cousin last Saturday. It seems hard to get folks together without a funeral. Thankfully this time was a birthday.

Shew day one of the week down. Sad because Dolly Parton died. Never met her, didn't listen to her music alot, but she was one of those constants, always there.
Hoping to star on our remodel/ conversion project this week.

We lost a good one in Dolly. She was very impactful to many of all ages.

I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday. I got moved to a new team at work around May? and my new manager is something else. He constantly says he doesn't like to micromanage and then he sends EIGHT paragraph emails complaining about something. He's so sarcastic. He calls out stuff to the whole team instead of just coming to you directly if it was your call out. I do not know what I am supposed to be learning on this team but every time he sends an email I get irritated all over again.

Hopefully you haven't prayed for patience...

Dolly was someone so many generations have loved for so many reasons. She's being remembered for her heart and the light she reflected to those around her, instead of just how she looked or her singing accomplishments. That's neat.

Jeremy's gone for another week starting today. Tabby and I plan to party some.. LOL. I enjoy alone time too much.. and I'm a hermit. No apologies. LOL.

We also lost the iconic voice of Optimus Prime. He also voiced Eeyore.

That cuts deep. Optimus was a favorite of mine. And Eeyore is my spirit animal.

Well HI.
Taking a day or two off tomorrow. Beginning work framing up the new office/classroom/evangelist quarters upstairs at church, then we will finish the conversion of downstairs classrooms to fellowship hall. Won't be as big as we would like but it'll work for now...

I got done reinforcing 85 chairs. May they last another 20 years.

They looked downright atrocious with a piece of plywood stuck on the bottom. So I painted the edges black all the way around. Now they are unnoticeable.

I have no other plans this week, and I'm already getting bored again...

I got scheduled 2nd shift tonight for the first time in years. The guy that usually works 2nd is on vacation. Hopefully I don't oversleep tomorrow since I'm on ProPresenter duty first service.

Upstairs has office and classroom nearly ready for paint; hall sheet rocked ready for mud; and the beginnings of the evangelist quarters.
I feel like I have ran for the past 10 years in regard to this. Good church. Going to be in Tennessee Sunday, up at Wildersville, preaching for Bro Weatherford at Popular Corner Pentecostal Church. Mixed emotions- looking forward to the getaway, and predictably concerned about preaching out.
Lou has decreed Rusty does not come this time- she wants to take her new car.
She hated the Chrysler 300 we bought a year and a half ago, and talked me in to trading it last week for a 2023 Lincoln Nautilus. It is the most loaded, most expensive vehicle I've ever bought in my life. Has 22-way seats with heated. cooled, and massaging options, plus all kinds of other doohickeys. She is happy to be bougie again.

Sounds like a great ride for a trip!

Jeremy & Athena are finally home for a bit. They go back to WI for several days towards the end of the month sometime, but for now.. they're home. He started GLP shots this weekend as well. This will hopefully help him and be less interesting than everyone else's stories!

Apparently, it has at least 22 different positions and settings I guess, from the owner's manuel

Howdy y'all.

Nothing to report except our septic line is 55 years old and a guy is coming out today to do-do something about it.

Dad's still bored to tears. So am I, actually. Wish life had a fast forward button so we could get to the part where he has two artificial feet and I can go back to work.

Iphone's new flip phone costs $2000. That's for the base model. The Super Deluxe Pro model costs almost $4000. Meanwhile my HMD Vibe daily driver cost $89 and my Unihertz Tank (8x normal phone battery and a light on the back that will legit light up a whole field) cost $275. And they will still be doing what I got them to do long after the people who buy an iFlip have moved on to newer things.

All this to say I just don't understand some people.

 :hi:
Well, made it through the week.  So Sunday , we had an African American brother and his wife visit. Backslider from what I gather, lived in our area for a year or so and didn't know we existed until our fair parade when a church member gave out cards for our upcoming revival. I was in Tn, but reports were he it the altar as did his wife and were speaking in tongues and shouting as they were renewed. They came back Sunday night too, and it was phenomenal. SO Wednesday night, God had me on course to preach more than teach.. The new brother gets there, his wife unable to make it because of a prior commitment, I get to meet him, the service starts and the worship I've been teaching on and praying for took off again in our church. Lord, the spirit was treetop tall- and the new brother was down in the middle of it all. I stripped a gear or two preaching unlike normal.
Lord, it felt so good to feel the spirit like that.
And in other unchurch related news- my wife made me get a colonoscopy. It's scheduled for tomorrow morning. So since last night, I've been scared to cough or breath hard, have drank a tanker truck of water, and still have more to go. I am NOT a fan.

Shew. Welp, made it through the procedure. Not something I wish to do again. Recovered enough to go to the church around 330 pm. Wound up being there for prayer meeting- it was dynamite, several showed up and God showed up too. Wound up being there until 11 ish- prayer meeting ended at 745 ish... then several stayed to do more work on the church.
Got everything moved into my office. I'm pleased. Also got flooring laid in the hallway upstairs. Little by little.
