I would like to point out that I never said anything about me being a matchmaker.   I refuse to play that part.

I just would like to point out that once upon a time there was a Stargazers meetup.  And we had a marriage come out of it.  (congrats to those too...  :teeth: )

And now, in 2012, there will be a Petit Jean Meatup.

Who will be the newest couple from there?

Or...have they allready started talking, chatting, ie?

Thinking about the barbecue already are we?

*takes a bow* Thank you! I wasn't really expecting to end up a legend in GP history, but I'm honored to at least be (apparently) in the running. ;)

And for anyone who is taking notes, I am ever so happy I married the man I did. :) It seems like every week I realize yet another reason why God put us together. So thankful. :)

Ya know... now that I think about it... I might do one thing differently. If I had it to do over again, I might just have asked Mini to perform our marriage ceremony in Oklahoma the same week we first met face to face. *grin*

Not sure where the matchmaker thing entered in, 'cause the original post struck me as the usual GP nonsense and teasing. And personally, I thought it was pretty funny. ;)

Folks,

Isaac, we post here as a group of friends, and friends sometimes take license to kid us about that which we might or might not take well from a stranger..the very tall gets kidded about beng tall (Minne) the bald gets kidded about being bald (Minnie), the, oh, you (and Minnie) gets the idea!

All of us, to my mind, get kidded sometime about something that strikes us a bit closer to home in our feelings than others. Then we need to ask ourselves, what was the intent? Was it in clean humor, or something meant to hurt our feelings. Most often, even a genuine hardcore attempt to matchmake (like Minnie tried to do allude to on a number of occasions at the OK Meetup in 08,) was in no wise an attempt to hurt me or my feelings.

Believe me, I have indeed been the lone one not going with the pack that I needed to be paired off with some particular lady, And it can definitely be unfun, yes, and if obvious enough, quite aggravating. But, it is up to us to not boil over, and remain  polite.

This is a site with many intelligent posters, many who read nuances that another poster comppletely inadvertantly leaves. You are very intelligent, but not even you are beyond leaving a factual tidbit to be gleaned.

I don't misquote or even selectively quote you on this site. You have expressed an aversion to it the likes of which I have seen only once before, on another forum.

There is also the 'beat the bush and see if a rabbit jumps out' method, of making a broad statement, and seeing who reacts. Your reaction could be read, rightly or wrongly, as the response to a sharp point driven home.

Anyway. We singles will always face some kiidding, likely at times more than we want, about our beng single. I embraced it, and have turned it to my advantage for many years. No one ever actually tried mto hurt me with their humor, to my knowledge.

YMMV.

The friendships I have found in GP, the safety I have found in GP was of those that allowed themselves to open up, be vulnerable & share who they really are. In turn, it allowed me to do the same. Makes every joke, even the cheesiest, fun & lighthearted. Makes every encouraging word, truly uplifting.  & Makes every advice from those who are transparent, resonate & minister.

All that aside, Lady Melodya, I may STILL ask you for an introduction to Krista or one of the KC area single Ladies! Pluas, or course, where the Italian buffet is! :)

Krista may be unavailable... However, when you come visit, you can point out any lovely that you see and we'll introduce you.  Also, a sectional event may have more choices as well.  And introducing potential friends or otherwise isn't matchmaking.

Newsman

That's cool..just getting to irritate you and Nathan, and staging an epic raid on AN iTALIAN BUFFET (we have nonesuch in OK that I'm aware of) would be plenty.

John, we'd love that!  Nathan and growing Andrew love any excuse to go there.  I love how spacious it feels too.  High ceilings and not your average buffet line, more like meandering through a market.

That place looks amazing!

Isaac, if it makes you feel any better, people are forever teasing me about being single.  I've been an old maid since before I turned eighteen...lol.  We're talking a decade +.   :freaky2:
