Well... I have the weekend off and had to fight for it. If The meetup is off... Roscoe, I claim the spare bedroom! and then we can go terrorize Mini and co!

I agree too.  Besides, Im afraid to get MY and PF in the same state as I am in...cause I know the subject of wax would come up...

I wonder if we made a wax figure of Mini, and then melted it, if we'd get Roscoe... -MellerYeller

I'm reading, and understanding if there s a reschedule.

Just in counting mode, Ladies Melody and K are out, my fellow Okies are likely out, and even Lou is having a difficult time getting off work for this?

At most, would this leave us Ladies Sandra and Chel, Lady Melodya and her Misery (oops, I used to see a woman from there,) Missouri :) clan, a possibly more distracted than usual Roscoe for perhaps just the Friday and Satrday part, Chey, Isaac, and myself, barring further obstacles?

Pardon me if I'm not remembering everrybody. If the tally is right, that appears to be at least seven out of 17 with a significant to total chance of not being able to attend.

Hmmm.

Excuse me guys... but I need to meet Melodya! What are yall doing?
(I will totally understand about a reschedule... but If it does happen... something will be going on anyways! lol, even if I have to go all the way to where she lives! I need to meet her!)

Roscoe has put in a lot of work on this, but there seems to be some still wanting to get together that weekend. Where is our El Trooper Capitale, to weigh in with his thoughts?

John  :waving:

mini

Hes on his way home from work.

One thing to think about, if Lou is not able to be there, and everyone invading her house...well...

I agree!  I'm tired of "seeing" you in my mind with a giant yellow smiley ball for a face..... hahahahaha

I think we could do Oklahoma if that worked out better... Wonder if John and Roscoe would be open to that?

I wonder if the Freemans are free? or one of their cabins?

Okay- here is my weigh in on the situation. While everyone knows how much I've looked forward to meeting everyone and showing off my hometown area, here's the facts as I understand them, in no particular order.....
1) Taco and Elona cannot make it
2) MelodyB is unable to make it
3) Kimber is unable to make it
4) The Porters will, at the least, be greatly hindered and may be unable to make it
5) Lou  may be able to get off- in fact, she has said she would call in if necessary- but has been battling her supervisor to get vacation time approved despite putting in for it when we first began discussing this.

This leaves, as John said, he, Mellow Yellow and clan- who I can't wait to meet- Isaac (ditto), PF (haven't met her yet either  :cry2: ) and Chel, and Lou and I. I REALLY want to meet y'all, but I had so hoped it would be a huge group meet.

If any of you want to come- I'm good with it. I'll go with either direction. I've got meat purchased, but it is nothing that will ruin given my freezer, and the time I have taken off can be rescheduled if necessary.
The weather is likely to be the same both in the middle of may and the middle of September- you've got about the same chances of boiling or freezing either way.

IF WE DO DECIDE TO POSTPONE IT, THAT IS THE KEY WORD- POSTPONE. I STILL WANT EVERYONE TO COME HERE AT SOME POINT

And in regards to Oklahoma- I might could slip that way for one day, perhaps. It'll depend on Lou's work schedule.

In any event I won't be hurt by either option. Disappointed that it hasn't worked out as smoothly as I wanted, but that's life. And as PF said-maybe there is a reason.

And Heather! Now that she has a car, she may be able to make the trip. Don't forget HEATHER!
Have you slapped that one dude from Indiana with a pie in the face today?

After talkingf with Roscoe, which I did a short while ago, I will post some stuff after I get a little more work done here. The cabins we used in '08 (Freemans) are available that weekend, and with an INCREDIBLE rate. I have some thoughts, and will follow this up after I catch up on some work.

John  :waving:

Newsman

I've taked with Sis. FreemaN, they have both cabins available.

First, is there serious interest in doing one there? They are off the beaten path, but the incredible rate on the cabns could offset some extra gas. I'll PM the offer to anyone wanting the specific number. Isaac and folks way east, it is near the 'town' of Clayton, OK.

If we had enough folks, we could put men in the small cabin, and women in the larger..they hold three beds and six beds, respectively. Electricity and fridges in both, and full cooking in the larger of the two.

In 08 the Freemans took us four-wheeling, allowed folks the run of their ranch. It was awesome. I think Ruby and Chris had a particularly good time.  :biglaugh:

If there was interest, I could arrange some day activities for Friday and Saturday, if y'all still wanted to do two or three nights there. My home church is about an hour closer to civilization, and any/all would be welcome for our combined Sunday afternoonj services.

Any interest?

Thanks Mel :)

Yes I am back on the road and ole Gretchen is purrin like a kitten.....BUT she still needs some love and I'm not sure she'll be loved on enough by then :/

As far as September is concerned I'd be unable to make it then either. My parents up and decided to book a condo at Myrtle Beach again for family vacation (after swearing they were going on a cruise) and I have a 4 years running housesitting gig for 2 weeks mid-September.

I would LOVE to make a meetup but I may just have to start planning weekend getaways to visit everyone individually once this car fiasco is completely squared away :)

Or, if y'all are looking for a one-day event in eastern OK, there is a Renaissance Faire in Muskogee that weekend, with a Golden Corral only 3-4 miles hence.

Oklahoma is a long way from us, that is if we're talking about the same Oklahoma...  And whataya mean way east?  We're closer to the middle of the country than a lot of y'all are. :P
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

Mapquest says it's about 9 hours away (assuming non-stop, which would of course not be an option :P )  and near exactly 500 miles from us.

I was planning on going to AR anyway, and Grandma said she's not too hot on going to the Prime Timer's Campmeeting this year because the prices for room and food keep going up every year.

QUESTIONS
Are we still thinking 17th through 19th?
Are we still planning for cheesecake at some point, and sourdough french toast for breakfast?
With Kmymbir absent, is there anyone else who has even the slightest interest in seeing a computer music demo?  If nobody cares, I'll just leave the keyboard home.
What about Bro. Papa's barbecue?  What about barbecued brisket?   :cry2:

Someone decide.  :P And Isaac, in order to GET to Oklahoma, you'll come right through here....Bro Papa's BBQ will be available, although I haven't gotten a brisket yet.  Cheesecake is still planned, whether at John's or my place. And personally- I'm not a music nut, not that there is anything wrong with that, so no need to bring the keyboard on my behalf- Lou plays enough to drive me batty anyway. :laughhard:

And for what it's worth- I would have no problem showing folks that wander through here around as they pass through.....assuming of course, everyone goes to Okieland...
