I found some cool things online, the first one is from My Great Grandpa Cledus Lamb written in 2001

Cledus and Grace Hazelwood Lamb
raised a large family,he was the son of Rev.
James Preston and Hulda Hobbs Lamb. They lived and raised thier family near Corwin in the Waynesville, Warren Co.,Ohio area. They attended the Corwin Holiness Church. I,R.M. lived just a 1/4 mile past their house when I was first married to Reva Lamb, her Uncle and Aunt on the Corwin- Roxanna road in 1950 and Reva's dad Gilbert about one mile further where he owned
a 160 acre farm at that time.
They are The parents of Barbara, who Married J. B. Spencer and after they
had raised the Spencer children became the internationally known, gospel
singing group
,"Spencer Family". Barbara's father did'nt live long enough to
realize their fame. In my estimation, along with Barbara's cousins the
"Isaacs Family" they compise two of the best country and Blue Grass
gospel groups
, bar none. Of course being older now my first choice in
gospel music, which Joe's multi talented family are exellent at, especially
mandolin, banjo and guitar,he and his children are so good at and Sonya
and her sister and brother all equally talented at as well as vocal Talent.
Joe and Lillie make a full compliment as well.

and this next one, which I thought was AMAZING! was about my Great-Great Grandpa J.P. Lamb and written in the Dayton Daily Newspaper on November 13th 1964

From _The Dayton [Ohio] Daily News_ 13 November 1964:

'Largest' Crowd Attends Funeral

Corwin [Ohio], Nov 13--Probably the largest gathering of persons ever assembled in this small Warren County [Ohio] community attended services for the Rev. James Preston Lamb yesterday at Miami Cemetery here.

The Church of God minister, who founded the Corwin Pentecostal Church here and first established his denomination in Ohio, died Monday on the eve of his 86th birthday.

Mr Lamb and his wife, Hulda [nee Hobbs], 84, have more descendants than any known Ohio couple, a relative said.

Their kin came from all parts of the country, including California, Texas, Florida, and Virginia, to attend the funeral services.

Relatives and friends began gathering at the church as early as 8 a.m. for the 2 p.m. services.

A granddaughter who could not attend sent flowers from South America.

A tent was set up at the entrance to the church to accommodate the number of mourners who overflowed from the church itself.

The funeral procession walked about a mile from the church up a hill to the gravesite with 16 grandsons serving as pallbearers. Others carried more than 130 floral tributes.

Mr Lamb, a native of Madison County, Kentucky, spent 60 years in the ministry.

He came to Warren County [Ohio] in 1925.

His descendants include 11 children, 106 grandchildren, 238 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. Two of his children are deceased.

Forty-five ministers from other churches attended the funeral services led by the Rev. John Sullivan, pastor from Barbourville, Kentucky.

Warren County police and Waynesville police helped direct traffic when more than 400 cars arrived in the area.

Mr Lamb's immediate survivors include seven sons, the Rev. Acy Lamb, John of Dayton [Ohio], Cleatus, Gilbert, and Lewis of Waynesville [Ohio], Elmer of Texas, and Syl of Hillsboro [Ohio].

His daughters are Mrs Vina Purkey and Mrs Eva Purkey of Waynesville, Mrs Bessie Isaacs of Berea, Kentucky, and Mrs May Jones of Richmond, Kentucky.
Hebrews 12:12-16 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you

I thought this was so neat to see how many of my ancestors paved the road to Gospel music, and My Great-Great Grandpa brought the "Pentecostal" denomination to Ohio!!!!

I have some albums of The Spencers.  One of them wrote "In my robe of white" as I recall.
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

Your cousin wrote that song?  Does she know all the stuff you used to pull in the chatroom?   :pound:

You should hear the Gold City Quartet sing that song.  I have it in my collection and it is one of my 100 most favorite songs.  (Sorry, with a collection like mine it's hard to narrow it down past 100.)

I'm Isaac, the moderator.  The chatroom is dead now, as far as I can determine.

I sit corrected (because I'm too lazy to stand corrected.)  More than a year after my last connect attempt, I find the chatroom alive again.  Empty, but running.

YES. I just joined ancestry.com thinking it was so much more awesome.  I have a lot more on my grandma's side on ancestry cause my Soto cousins are on there.  But I haven't figured out how to work it all yet.

www.geni.com is way better in my opinion. I've been on it for 3 yrs. What you're paying ancestry for really is the records/history.  If you know the names and want to merely build the tree, Geni is more fun.  It's easier to navigate and family can join and interact more.  You have the option of paying on Geni for records if you want.  It's user friendly for pictures and info.
