"True love comes quietly, without banners or flashing lights. If you hear bells, get your ears checked."  --Erich Segal

"Some love may come like a storm that swells
In the August sky as the daylight wanes;
But my love came like the sound of bells
The winds have drifted across the plains."
(Stanza two from "As the Violets Came" by George Brandon Saul)

Wellll now.... It can't be both ways. Or can it?

:beret:
"Going somewhere means leaving somewhere. Choosing something means choosing against other things. Gaining something means losing something else. And between the old and new--the 'was' and the 'not yet'--there exists only one thing: a very frightening journey called faith."

hhhmmm . . .someone talking about you ruby that your ears are ringing?  :pwink:

or maybe it's the song in your heart that you hear on the sound of the wind?  maybe it's only hard to hear because it is yet too far away to be perfectly ringing clear?

or perhaps . . .  not.

some things in life defy reason.

Maybe she does have hope
it is wedding bells
tolling for her
that is the annoying ringing
in the quietness of the morning
when she goes walking by the river
and gazing at stars,
but just in case,
she is wearing ear plugs!!!!!

:laughhard:

Newsman

Ask not for whom the bell tolls

It tolls for you ... :)

isn't the bell at the ball?  maybe it's because of all that dancing and shouting going on that it's hard to hear.  pentecostal families do that sometimes, you know.

The first quote says "true love"

The second is talking about the author's love (doesn't say anything about true love)

The quotes do not actually contradict eachother
