Hey Dina... in another thread you said:

Isn't respect, be definition, something you earn? There is a respect for human life in general: I don't go up and kick a bum that's sitting in the street, but does he automatically have my respect? No.

Why wouldn't you go up and kick a bum that's sitting in the street? Wouldn't that decision be based on respect that he's a fellow human being who is made in the image of God?

Like my mom said, there are different types of respect. Just because I don't overtly attack him doesn't mean I will heed his financial advice either. We're made in the image of God, sure, but mankind has very far fallen from any spiritual resemblance.
What actions equal respect? I don't think respect is some great show of anything, but rather, the lack of a show of selfishness and pride in that I'm not above or below you and being so, I should be polite to you. This applies to everyone. Pastors, kids, bums. Respect, the kind that all deserve, just equals politeness, and self-restraint.
There are other types of respect, however. The bible says that some are worthy of "double honor." You should read it's definition to see who that applies to:

1 Timothy 5:16-18 (New International Version)

16If any woman who is a believer has widows in her family, she should help them and not let the church be burdened with them, so that the church can help those widows who are really in need.
17The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 18For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages."

In other words, I think this level of respect may go beyond being polite, to actually heeding their advice if the Spirit confirms it after prayer. I do not think, however, that ANYONE besides God deserves the level of respect that unquestioningly heeds.

Lady Dina,

What part of July will you, your husband and Miss 'Talia be moving? Will it be after the 12th?

Dina, did you sign into your husbands account and post this??? ;)
Hebrews 12:12-16 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you

iridiscente

Awesome, church would be great. Yeah, let us know. :D

The Purple Fuzzy

Dina, isn't that the weekend you're going to be in MS?

iridiscente

Oh no! I think so, AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
:( Sorry to say.

Newsman

I understand if y'all are off in Mississippi...say, did I ever mention that the southern accent in a Lady just about knockes me over? :) Soooo, if you know any eligible single Ladies from there... :)

Right now, it looks like I'll be coming down to Texas two weeks from Thursday, and would like to say hello to Clarence and Lady Sandra, as well as you and Ben and little Miss Talia, and even that sister of yours, if she'll speak to me! :)

There's an SCA event that's a longer than normal one, in Canton. For practical purposes, it starts Friday morning, and ends Sunday evening.

John  :waving:

We are going to be in MS July tenth through the fourteenth. I do know a few single girls there, but I don't want to presume to know either you or them well enough to say whether they would be a good match. ;) You can always visit and find out!

RainbowJingles

Dina!!!!!  Will you be visiting FPC while you're in Jackson?!!??!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

iridiscente

No, but I will see lots of former members.

Sis

This may sound dumb but if the water is bad where you are, and you have to drink bottled water, how can you trust any food in restraunts?  Most food has been in touch with water at some point. When we were in Mexico, I didn't want to buy any food for that reason. We ate on the ship.
