For the record, as much as I love monochromatic palettes, my room is decorated in pinks, complete with sage-green gingham and cabbage rose accents. *grin* I didn't decorate it, and it's not my house, so my black-and-white paintings and retro decor is all packed up.

..With all of my decorations currently packed away in storage. I'll have to dig up some photos of my last apartment - it's very retro, eclectic, and fun, but I'm all about elegant, too.

my decorating theme is pictures and books and stuff people gave me. 

always has been.  full of stories.

i do, actually, have black and white pics in my dining area and would like to have a black table cloth to go with my black and white china. 

that's about the only color coordinated area. 

i guess the bathroom is sort of, too.  decor that is white and sage green seems to have migrated there.  not really on purpose, just seemed to go together and voila!  it worked.

so, yeah.  don't know if i've ever had a theme.

Black is a graphic artists best friend!! The easiest color there is to coordinate.

Sis, more 1940s. I'm not really a victorian person, it's a little too 'done' for me. I'll try to describe, but I REALLY need to find my pics to do justice to it..

Kitchen - Very eclectic. Colors were red, yellow, and robin-egg/turquoise blue. The pictures were colorful breakfast food advertisements from several LIFE magazines from the 1940s I'd bought, with red-and-white gingham mats and white distressed frames. Napkins and placemats were red & red-and-white gingham, and the dining room was an extension of the kitchen decor.

Living Room - elegant, feminine, chic. Colors were black, marigold, and red. The main picture was a huge framed 1930s Vogue cover. Furniture was a pale yellow sofa with zebra throw pillows, a zebra print armchair, and a huuuge black walnut armoire. I had antique hats and purses displayed. The walls were a muted peachy marigold color.

Office/Guest room - Modern eclectic. Colors were black, white, and red. I used the covers of the LIFE magazines and framed them in black frames and lined them up gallery-style along the main wall. All the accessories were black, white, and red. (The bed cover was a black and white paisley pattern.)

Bathroom #1 - Funky retro. Colors were chocolate and pink. Pictures were lotion and toothpaste advertisements from the LIFE magazines, in chocolate frames with pink mats. Shower curtain was pink with a brown-and-pink striped band at the top and bottom, and towel holders, etc. were brown.

My room - Feminine and retro. Colors were black, white, hot pink, and silver. My furniture is black iron (canopy bed, vanity, and bookshelf) - pictures were monochromatic paintings I did of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. The drape over my bed was a black, white, and pink sheer with retro ladies printed on it, and there were hats and purses in there, too.

Master bath - Hard to describe! lol - Colors were black, ivory, deep red, and sage green. Pictures were French sketches of shoes with flowers all around them, and distressed tin pockets that were in the shape of flowers. I never got a shower curtain in there, lol, just a clear liner, but the accessories were all black.

I like Black and White. But not everything in black and white.
