QuoteThe reason why none of the colleges are not accredited is cause we wont give in to the world and teach trinity.

I hate to break it to you, but our doctrinal beliefs don't play any role in why the colleges aren't accredited...it takes a lot of money and qualifications in order to receive accreditation.  Our Bible colleges just don't cut the mustard.

When I was there, IBC was working towards accreditation.  However, they still had quite a way to go.

Gateway is also working towards accreditation......... if i am not mistaken thy want to be by 2010 that is if i am not mistaken........Newkris may be able to answer that question better than me because her son go's to Gateway.

Why should a bible college seek accreditation?  That's not to say that the academic standards and expectations shouldn't be comparable to a secular college, but what is core purpose of a bible college?  Isn't it to prepare men and women for service in the ministry?  Or is it to issue degrees that are equal to those issued by secular colleges?  I'm not so convinced that accreditation is something that bible schools should actively pursue.

There is a new college in Michigan that is  accredited. Forgot the name, but Stevebert applied to them. They didn't have the funds to meet his $$ requirement.

Its seems like to me your brother was not in it for the right reason, or he is just trying to find something to blame for him blacksliding. Bible college did not cause the bitterness in him... He let the devil distract him and pull him away from God... It has nothing to do with the College it has to do with the person and their relationship with God.

Your right cause folks in all kinds of situations far worse than what we'd see in any college still choose to serve God.  My brother does seem to be doing better with it.  He's kinda like I am right now feeling like he doesn't have a church to really call home and be involved in more than just attending services.

I did want to go to bible college and in some ways still would like to go to bible college.  I'm not sure a upci bible college would be the best place for me because I do have issues with some of what I perceive as being promoted by upci bible colleges.

Strain at a gnat and swallow a camel?

Might be.  I just wonder if we're setting the younger ministers up for an image that they won't be able to keep up with.  The hair issue is more personal because I can't wear mine up with out getting a really bad headache.

I saw, and continue to see, a trend in young ministers;  many seem to be more interested in getting a crowd excited by their catchy phrases and clever titles than seeking the face of God for what He would say in a particular service.  Preaching for performance and response more than preaching because you're called to speak the words of God.   Very saddening...

Good thang!

If that were the case, most pastor's wives I know wouldn't be able to be pastor's wives. *grin*

This is sad yet very very true of much of today's ministry.  Very few today would be willinng to go through what the apostles and other early church ministers went through for the sake of preaching the gospel.
