Hmmmm.... just curious

Ok,
I am not trying to make light of the recent event at VA Tech, but some things not dealing with the massacre came to mind.

First off... what in the world is a Hokie?
Apparently they call themselves the Hokies. I just have no idea what one is.

Wondering what a Hokie was led me to my second thought... and this is for all of you facebook people... if you are on facebook and you send someone from VA Tech a "poke".... are you doing the "Hokie Pokey"?

Like you said - this is a hard topic to have when you're not really trying to "make light" of the situation...however, it's a very good question, and I had to look it up.  Dictionary.com has two entries...one, the more popular adjective use of "hokie" which means "corny, fake."  But the noun definition is:

Definition:   an emasculated turkey

hokie nation!!!!!!!!!!!   LOL

the mascot is the Hokie bird which is like a turkey (as elfiin found out lol)
