Does anyone currently see a Chiropractor? I'm considering it and just want more information and personal opinions. My sister and step-dad have seen a Chiropractor and they swear by it. I've had back pain for a long time and just haven't ever done much about it other than take Tylenol.

I've been to a couple of different chiropractors in my life.  Both helped.

But from what I've heard, some chiropractors are good and some aren't.  There are those who claim that all sorts of maladies - from colds to allergies to back pain - can be traced to having vertebrae out of alignment.  And in my (non-medical) opinion, that's total bunk.  It's one thing to say that adjusting my back will help my back feel better, but to claim that adjusting my back can rid me of my hayfever?  I don't believe it for a minute.

That said, I don't know how much to believe as far as chiropractors' claims of how the human body works.  But I do know that the chiropractors I've been to definitely produced positive results in my body.

Nathan sees one.  He started because with his heighth and having been in a few accidents, he would have trouble w/ it.  Now he rarely goes b/c the dr. taught him some things he can do to help himself at home.  I went after our car accident a few yrs ago.  It was great but I don't need to now.  I or the kids will go in if there is a severe cold, flu, or ear infection, being aligned helps things drain better which helps recovery.  Actually though, since we all last to the chiropractor (2 yrs) we haven't been that sick.  Of course we all try to live healthy the best we can too.

Our chiropracter belongs to an organization called "Maximized living" where it's not just getting you temporarily adjusted to pacify the problem but getting you realigned and on a better healthy trek.  Ours does a free x-ray the first visit.  We had one lady who went and he told her accurately that she had had a miscarriage b/c where her spine was messed up connected to that organ. She had also been in a car accident and had migraines every day for 13 yrs. No exaggeration.  After 3 wks of going, her migraines stopped. Our organs are connected to our spine so there's a lot that can be improved by being aligned.

I encourage you to go! But find a good one that is interested in your overall health and getting you to a place where you rarely ever need to return.

Thanks! I think the one my sister goes to keeps her coming back, so I'm sure I won't be going there. I'll have to do some research and comparison shop :)

Get referrals from some people in your town. If a lot of people bring up the name of the same doctor, in a positive way, you're likely to find a good one.
