:hi:
I dug my regular bike out from behind the junk on my back porch, aired up the tires, and added the baskets to the back rack this afternoon. Sunday is looking good to go for a ride... maybe even bike to church.
This title is definitely me.
Ready to go crash. Did get one long term goal picked up today. For the better part of 15 years, I've wanted to update Rusty's interior. Still have door panels, carpet and a headliner to go but the expensive part, the seat, is finished, and it is exactly what I wanted. Also going to put a tilt column in- when he rebuilt the seat, he repaired many broken springs and new foam, which puts the position higher and the steering wheel, while usable, is much less comfortable.
The plaid is a tip of the hat to the flannel my dad and grandad, and now I often wear. I think it suits the old guy...

A friend said the other day "she was high as a cat's back" or something similar - and I cracked up. I'd never heard it before.
So ready for being off work tonight and sleeping in a smidge in the morning. I've got lots of housework to do unfortunately so I can't sleep in too much.
Got off of work and had to go to a saints house because my extrovert wife had helpfully said I would love to when they invited us and a third of the church over for dinner and games. My social battery was dead...but I managed to be polite and lasted two hours before I eased back out to Rusty and headed home. Told her NEVER to do that to me again. I love everyone there to distraction but that was bad close to hellfire for me after this week. Tomorrow I gotta do to work for an hour or so.

I spent the afternoon out on the bicycle. My knees shall ache tomorrow.

The song "head and shoulders knees and toes" had to have been written by someone who had their first workout of the year cause it pretty much describes what hurts after biking too much.
Well. Been a normal busy weekend for me. Enjoyed Saturday with Lou after I put my hour at work drug testing in. Sunday was preach day. Today- take saint to dr, wash truck, go to Conway for saw ( with Chey in Rusty so I count that as a break), picked up a beautiful $500 electric fireplace for her apartment on sale as a display model for $250, and actually got the trim I've tried to get painted for the last three months painted.
Tomorrow- work half a day and take Lou to her lung doctor.
Morning all. Back at work. Hoping the end of the day slows enough i can get slides done for bible study tonight.
Got in late evening from lous dr visit and immediatly had to go to the hospital with a saint
Dear lord i wish pray and veg ny folks get healthy. Right now this season has 3/4 the church sick, and it is DIFFERENT health issues, so I cant simply shut down for a week for everyone to recover. :pound:
Everyone is getting sick around here. Mostly flu. The local schools have shut down.
I went by yesterday to pay my water bill and City Hall was closed, the sign on the door claimed because of COVID. Trust them to be completely out of step with the rest of the population being sick with flu.
id love to see pictures of the apartment progress, it sounds like it's gonna be awesome!
The weather keeps moving up and down up and down. Over it already.
It's super gloomy again today. Makes me sooo sleepy.
Yesterday I couldnt be bothered to do anything it was so gloomy. I didnt even make dinner lol.
You know this thread with a title about spring is going to be here through at least seven seasons...

We get a bit more done I'll post some. IT's not Robbie quality, but it'll do. It's been a real good learning experience for me. :biglaugh:
Church got canceled tonight because of a snow & ice storm moving into the area. :sadbounce:
Wow, it's 68* at 1 am here.
It's nice and warm here too....but foggy and overcast. Supposed to be near 80 Saturday, but noise about possible cold surge and even snow sometime after that. I am over that mess.
Back at work with several to see today. Be glad to get it all done.
Yea suppose to be super warm Saturday here too and then it drops to like 37 Saturday night and is cold for another few weeks. We'll see. You know the weather down here can't ever make up its mind.
Stepped in cat throw up this morning so that was fun.
Two wrongs make a right:
I am playing a video game set in 1403 and it goes very big on realism about living in that time. The main character is a blacksmith's son who has to learn how to fight really quick because of an invading army.
I found an interesting glitch where the game randomly, rarely and unpredictably forgets you have any money at all. Occasionally when you save a game and later come back and load that save, all the money in your pockets, anything you stashed in chest, all of it is just gone.
This game has been out for 6 years and nobody has fixed this problem yet...
I could just make multiple saves and use them in rotation, and be very *I need a thesaurus" retentive about making sure I still have money when I reload any of those...
Wait a minute! Surely somebody has made a mod for this game where you can cheat. It's the nature of the beast, er, gamer.
So I went looking and found a mod that allows you to type in commands to give yourself any item, any weapon, additional skill levels for any skill you want... And more money! Now I can just cheat back the money I lost because of the glitch. I just have to remember how much money I had before the glitch happened.
So the glitch plus the cheat, two wrongs, made a right.
I don't usually comment here on interesting stuff I see in video games. Wrong audience. But this is the first time I have ever seen two wrongs make a right.
Obligatory old joke: and three rights make a left and four rights make a box.
It has been sooo gloomy all week. It's really getting to me. Bleh. I need some sunshine. :sadbounce:

Totally agree. Cold here too, and my computer taskbar reads "Temps to Plummet"
But forecast shows a high of 76 tomorrow...I'm believing and claiming.
Been busy beaver today. Ready to call it a week.
It's 85 here, today but that cold front is supposed to hit tomorrow.
31 here with freezing rain and snow. Pastor moved our small groups fair to Wednesday night since we're supposed to get more yucky weather tomorrow afternoon.
It was beautiful here today. My day of rest was anything but. Ran some errands and worked on the apartment, as well as doing a bit of clean up on Rusty which is going for the rest of his interior soon.
I will say I am wiped out though, and evidence that I am old is that I am hurting bad. It'll be a night in the recliner I assume..
I've decided to make chicken and dumplings today. That's about as interesting as it gets for now.
The cold front did indeed hit. And it's still gloomy city. We've had several small bouts of rain.
Trying to get Keke (cat) into the vet. I think the hyperthyroidism she was diagnosed with 3 weeks ago was in fact masking some kidney issues. She's throwing up a lot and I'm worried. :sadbounce:

I'm blessed with an amazing assistant pastor who covers for me. In honesty, he and I work as a team in every avenue of the church. He's my sounding board, occasionally my co-conspirator, and one of my biggest supporters. I have zero concerns about the wellbeing of our church if I have to be out, which I try not to be, because he loves it as much as I do.
If every pastor had the assistant I do, their burden would be much lighter.
Ice storm canceled church again last night. That puts us at 3 church days in a row of being canceled by winter weather. :sadbounce:
So ready for spring to get here
They are saying we will likely see winter weather this coming Tuesday and Wednesday. Chance of heavy snow. Over it completely. Finally feeling a bit better this afternoon. Worked today despite feeling terrible. Now tomorrow I gotta figure out how to work and get a church member to a dr appointment....
I think I'm pretty much over this winter stuff.
I still like it better than August. I can keep adding layers when it gets colder. If I try to compensate for heat with clothing, I get arrested...
Bahaha Isaac.

"We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about."
- Charles Kingsley
When I start feeling like that, I double down on things that I can get enthusiastic about.
Really hoping we don't get iced out of church again tomorrow
Shew Lord. Finally time to get on here. First, while I was sick they changed out my computer at work which led to the loss of many files that had NOT been backed up to the cloud despite claiming to have been. I was able to get I.T. to pull the hard drive out of my old computer and manually upload them to the cloud but that took time. Meanwhile I dealt with overall illness, and the fact that this site is now on the blocked list at work. Bah..
And last night was prayer meeting and I got there grumpy and ran down. I walked in to my Assistant Pastor, always upbeat, in much the same mood as I over work issues at HIS work... but God was about to change things.
A year or so ago, a brother found us by livestream and began coming. I've mentioned taking him to Dr appointments and the like... he has become a close friend and is an incredible prayer warrior and worshipper. The entire church has kinda adopted him as a mascot. If you met him, you would understand. I don't think you can NOT love the man.
He has been fighting stage 4 cancer. They had removed a kidney, and the mass/tumor came right back. The doctors have been treating him but it's mainly been "we will do chemo but it's just prolonging the inevitable". He has been adamant that God was healing him. But a couple of weeks ago, during a down moment, he looked at me as I dropped him off after church.
Instead of upbeat and calling me Bro Bobby...He said "Pastor, I'm done. I can't keep fighting. He can take me home"
Not depressed, just at the end of his rope. I tried to encourage and as I left, just me and God I began to sob. " God, I've lost Papa and Nana. Bro Robert, which were three of my biggest supporters and rocks. The hits keep coming. I can't lose him. If it is at all in Your will, heal him, because I genuinely need him".
I reminded God that I had preached and set the theme for this year as being the "year of the Jubilee" where everything is returned, the manservants come home, and restoration is given. I'd had everyone write down a promise from God they felt He had given them, and what we would do...pray more, fast, etc... and place it in a box on the altar. Every service we pray over it before proceeding.
Bro Roger borrowed my truck to go to the cancer doctor yesterday. He came into prayer meeting, looked at me and said, "I need you to sit down". My faith plummeted. I knew he would tell me they had given him just days or that something had spread.
He looked at me " Bro Moses, the Dr is confused. Several tests. THERE IS NO MASS OR TUMOR IN MY BODY"
Dear lord, did we have a prayer meeting!!
There is still some other health issues God is still addressing- but man, this was some kinda confirmation of Him moving!!
Roscoe.. That was beautiful news to read on a sleepy snowy work Monday!
@Work.
Jeremy & Athena made it home last night from their trip to Salt Lake City. Tabby wasn't super thrilled her sister came home, but she was happy to see her dad. I didn't get much sleep this weekend. Friday due to caffeine, Saturday I'm not really sure why, and then Sunday.. I took a two hour nap in the afternoon and had to stay awake late (against my eyes' wishes) to make sure they got home safely. I literally fell asleep in the recliner waiting haha.
Gonna be a long night. Weather change has me hurting. Wonder if we will get the snow and ice they claim? Back at work tomorrow...
My body doesn't like the cold anymore.
It definitely wasn't on my bingo card how much the weather would affect me in my old age lol
I need the heat too. It's not so much the cold as it's the gloominess that gets to me.
Ice. Snow. :pound: The only thing redeeming from this is I literally CAN'T go anywhere, We won't see above freezing temps until Saturday or Sunday....
I'm not a penguin so the super cold isn't for me.
SNOOOOOOOOOOW!
We finally got some snow!
Not enough to build up on the roads. So driving probably won't be any fun. But it does look pretty.
25 degrees. The current temperature and so far the high for the day. I like the time off.. but lord I despise cold.
It's 25* here, too. :noo:
I was right. Driving wasn't much fun today.
My last hope was that the water on the road would freeze overnight tonight. But the road was bone dry by the time I got home this afternoon. Feh!
It was 10 bloomin' degrees this morning. Not. A. Fan
On the bright side, no weather related issues at church, other than cancelling last night
10° right here, right now. Also not a fan. A fan is the LAST thing I need right now.

@Roscoe - I needed to read that testimony today. That's awesome about Bro. Roger.

Both would go very well with cornbread...

He's still got some health challenges but after God removing the mass we are believing for everything else to be healed too.
Today- well yesterday, since it's just after midnight- was a long day. I'm looking forward to next weekend and a small getaway even if I do have to preach one night.
Busy day. Replaced Lou's 165k mile car with a '23 Chrysler 300S. Sold S10 that has been Chey's daily. Probably going to go bring Lou's former car home to stay Monday for Chey a daily. Constantly shuffling to keep everyone on the road.
Chey's Corvette is having some issues that cause it to need to be in the shop. Nothing major, but I'd like it to go back to being a "fun" car, not ragged out as a daily. And if I DO bring the Caddy back- I know its pros and cons.
Been a fun day. Pastor didn't even get to preach this morning because God took over and we had a shouting service. I took off running the isles which I haven't done in years. About twice around and I was coughing really bad and gasping for air - I have exercise induced asthma.
Stayed over for the first meeting of the game life group. Joined the table of those playing Aggrivation. Ended up winning the game.
We also had the first 2 eipsodes tonight of The Chosen season 2 watch party.

A stranger drives past Bobby's place, sees all the cars and stops. He finds Bobby under a random vehicle and asks, "Say, how much you want for that one?"
"Wait, what? This ain't a car lot?"
It needs to be. And Tia, Aggravation....that's a game I LIVE lately, and I ain't winning. :laughhard:
Caddy did come home, and the S10 is now on the market. Kim wanted it, but decided against it. I guess it'll sit here at the house sans insurance because I can't afford all the insurance I be paying. Lou's new car insurance hurt.
A wee bit stressful this week.
Today has kicked my knickers. Up early, to the bank, to the church to open it for the sound guy, off to Conway for the Caddy, back to church with sound guy- now have totally new sound system, a Yamaha mixer and a amp and rack system for the wireless receivers, much neater than ever before- then to check on Rusty, then insurance on the car, go to the tax preparers with tons of paperwork, then check on Roger as he had a dr appointment to deal with his other issues, then back to drop car off with Lou, came home and cleaned my truck interior finally- I am done. Three days to work, and off to Kentucky. I should be looking forward to that- but honestly, I have to preach, and I have only a rough idea what God may want. Therefore- I worry and stress....I will enjoy the time with my wife regardless.
Oooh, a new mixer! One of my favorite toys.
Speaking of sound booth news, our pastor just bought a 10 receiver personal monitor set. Like lapel microphones, with the battery pack and all, but they have earbuds instead of mics. Now it doesn't matter if you have a stage monitor pointed right at you while you are playing the keyboard.
10 earbud battery packs, but only two channels. So much for everybody's dreams of getting 10 different personal monitor mixes straight from the soundboard. Also these battery packs feel all kinds of flimsy. But they do work. I tested all 10 of them.

He will give you the right things like He always does Bobby!! No stressing. I know...easier said than done.
Have to go to DFW tomorrow for a neurology appointment. I eventually ran out of my headache preventative and it was DEF helping. I'm averaging 1-3 headaches again per week since I got off of it. But they won't refill it because I havent seen the DR in forever and I can't do a virtual appointment because I'm in OK and they're in TX. BAH.
:hi: Lawd, I am done. One more day and we prepare to leave for the weekend.
Mom is being mean and sending me videos of them eating pie.
I told you that you could have some if you'd come see me. :hypocrite:
What kind of pie are we talking about?
Yea what kind of pie?! :demand:
Did somebody say pie?
:fork:
I too like pie. Road trip with Lou in the new car.
Stopped and saw my uncle in missouri then arrived in Kentucky a few ago.
New car is comfortable and impressive on fuel mileage...averaging over 30 mpg in a full size fat boy sedan.
Brother who lives here called me and told me where to go for a room, and had covered it.
Much to my surprise he paid for two nights in a suite at the Marriot. Very swanky and unexpected, its as big as chey's apartment will be...
This pie was actually sugar free. It had pineapple, bananas, cherry pie filling and strawberry jello. It tastes better than it sounds.
Shew. Level one fear unlocked. Completed service. Felt God. People cried and prayed. Now relaxing, and wondering if we will make it to a friend's church in the morning....was out way late with the church we ministered at.
Level one unlocked? You sound like a gamer.
Got home last night around 9. Slept in today, then ran a few errands, took a church member to town for grocery shopping.
Stressed and generally out of sorts but surviving.
:hi:
Wow! We had some crazy wind and rain this morning. It even blew over my "porch" swing that I have out near the chicken coop. Limbs are down all around.
hey mom- can you make sugar free pecan pie?
That stuff will kill ya...
Quite a bit of water here too. Been raining most of the day.
Plugging along to the weekend
Yesterday morning I left out on an overnight work trip. Several towns we drove through got hit pretty bad that morning, probably tornadoes. One city got nailed badly. GPS routed us completely around the city.
Last night, after we finished the day, we were at a little restaurant, and two women were gossiping and complaining loudly. They had quite a beef with their pastor and really "had him for dinner."
Their problem?
He was encouraging the church to read their Bibles.
One even proclaimed she was "a Sunday School teacher and children's director" and didn't see any need for this nonsense.
Ignorant biddies.
Later, my boss told me he almost said loudly, "Rev Mini, it was great to eat dinner with you."
:ugly:
I would have said something like that. I like your boss already. Is he hiring?
And in local news, Skype is shutting down in May. All my friends on Skype are moving to a different platform. We are currently trying out WhatsApp. So far it seems like basically the same functionality as Skype.

We were in your fair city for two days working—24 hours of work in two days—which makes for some MIGHTY long days. I think I accidentally discovered where your husband works. We wound up at Panda for lunch, and I looked across the parking lot and was like, "Well, here's where JennJenns' husband works!" I'm feeling much better than I did the first half of the week. I spent much of yesterday cleaning the photo lab for our QSP inspection next week.
Got up and went to the local annual ham radio swap meet. No idea why, I'm really not active in the hobby much, but I've went to it for the past thirteen years every year and it just felt like I needed to. All it did was make me a tad blue. I've lost three of my closest ham radio friends in the last couple years and their absence was very noticeable at the event we all used to look forward to.
Came home, go Lou, went to Sam's club, then worked for a while on Chey's apartment. I'm definitely not a carpenter but it's solid and looks decent enough. She shouldn't want to complain- it's free for her.
Church tomorrow...
PSA: change any clocks tonight, if they don't change themselves.

You can change the taskbar alignment in Windows 11 to the left by right-clicking on the taskbar, selecting "Taskbar settings," and then adjusting the "Taskbar alignment" option to "Left."
I've never had the need to align MY taskbar, mini-ster. You done did click on the wrong quote.. :laughhard:

Nope.. that just "centers" the options ON the taskbar to center or left.
Mine used to be literally on the left side of my screen. lol
Oh! I get what you are saying now. I don't know if Windows 11 will do that.

From what I can find, that function is no longer available in stock Windows 11.
(Of course my Linux mint still does it...) :shine: :shine: :shine: :shine:
There are some third party programs that restore that function. Windhawk and explorerpatcher are two open source ones. There are also some paid ones that give a lot more functionality.
EDIT: never mind about explorerpatcher. It makes things break every time Windows updates.
Shew. Long day today. Got a call from a crazy guy who informed me that I " was CEO of Deep Dark Google" -whatever that is- and had, along with Bill Clinton, a local lawyer, and various other politicians, stolen billions from him. I apparently had taken him from a "quadrillionaire" to broke, and was keeping him from his rightful due, which was "the interest on the national debt, literally".
I gently explained to the deluded gentleman that I was innocent, and explained had I ever been given a passing acquaintance with that kind of money, I'd not be a law officer, and he would not be speaking with me, as I would be laying on my private beach on my private island somewhere in the Carribean.
Made it through that weird call and finally got to church for an awesome prayer meeting tonight followed by dinner with several of the church men, as the women of the church are at a ladies' conference with Sis Diede Cooley in Beebe.
Now I am at home alone, listening to the ham radio and weather radio discussing the tremendous winds and tornado warnings active in Arkansas

my sister in law was there.
We just waved bye-bye to the last of that heavy weather. I am not a fan. You should have kept it in Arkansas, East that is. Maybe it would have coaxed a few hills out of all those plains.
I lost a bit of time at my job because they kept calling tornado warnings and we kept having to walk to the restroom and wait it out. The men's restroom is the safest room in the whole building, allegedly. I have been there since 2009 and never seen it put to the test. Apparently the whole area is safe, because I have never even seen a funnel cloud near it. And if we did get wiped out by a tornado, I'm pretty sure the whole matchbox building would be obliterated, lavatory and all.
Well...glad that storm is through and it didn't connect with us here. Praying for those it did affect.
Went yesterday to a close friend's 25th pastoral anniversary. Got to see alot of old friends, despite feeling out of place amongst the ministers. I did get to speak briefly with our presbyter.
Got home late, slept very little, woke with a scripture and a thought. Put it together for tonight and found it bears resemblance to something I preached a few years ago.
Funny, the longer I reach the more I find some of those old notes are handy when God lays it on your heart. It is neat how it is different dates, sometimes different people, and a thought and a scripture stick with you-same notes, same preacher- but when you preach it, it is a totally different message.
Hello all. Seems to have gotten quiet.
Back at work...gonna leave early to go get Lous car out of the shop. Had a bad wheel bearing and since it was under warranty they are covering it and are supposed to have it ready after lunch.
Went and got Rusty yesterday. Interior cane out just as i wanted and the tilt wheel made a huge difference.
now you can wear rusty more comfortably?

Get to the window, order my frappe and a cinnamon toast bagel that looks tasty. Drink comes out...no bagel. Please move forward. TWENTY MINUTES LATER I get my bagel. Sheesh.

After seeing Mini-ster and Kim, I got back home and proceeded to work like I was 20 on Chey's apartment. Hanging sheetrock quickly reminded me that I am NOT 20.
I am hurting.
Church tomorrow.
My electric mower arrived!
We have been able to stick electric motors and big spinning blades on stuff for my whole life, but only recently has battery technology improved enough for us to make it mobile and run around the yard without a very, very long extension cord.
So far I am a big fan of this big fan.
I did have to immediately swap out the blade. It came with a mulching blade by default, I guess because the people who are most likely to buy electric mowers are Save The Earth people. It runs a lot smoother with a normal blade spitting grass out the side like a normal lawn mower.
56 volts is nothing to play with. This is the same battery pack I used to power my electric bike last year. It can bring some serious punch.
"But the battery runs down after a while." Exactly! That's the best part! When the battery runs down you are through for the day. I'll get back to it tomorrow when the battery is charged. :hypocrite: :hypocrite:
I love my electric mower. Its fairly lightweight, quiet, and push button start... no pullstring to mess with. I've got the Greenworks 40V 21' brushless, cordless, smart pace/self propel mower. Its got bag and mulch options but I prefer to spit the grass out the side too. Got 4 batteries for it so I can do my yard in one go.
Home alone until Thursday as hubbs is at a work conf. in Dallas.
Making the foods he's meh about while he's gone lol.
But now I have to trek to the street to get the trash can and roll it back to the back yard cus he's not here.
Our "lawn" service is included in our rent at this house lol. so we don't have to mow/edge all the above. WOOOO.
An electric mower would last about 8 milliseconds at my house. The only mower I've found in the last twenty years that has stood up to my thicket has been the belly mower on the tractor.
Went to Little Rock today to apply for a lost title on a vehicle. Then off to Russellville to get some items at Lowes, hang some sheetrock int he apartment and smear a bit of sheetrock mud. The Russellville trip was a highlight since I drove Rusty. Stopped by the church and put some new light bulbs in the men's room. I'd gotten a complaint that the old fluorescents had gone out leave a brother in the dark quite literally. I sent him a pic of the lit-up bathroom after I got done installing them.
Totally regretting my decision to not take of the first two days of this work week.
I'm starting to wish it was rainy and cold and all that.
I have been successfully ignoring my bike and my gut all winter. How can you go biking when the weather is miserable? But now I am having to face the fact, and the scale, and the bike, and the road.
Sssssssssiiiiiiiiiggggghhhhhhhhh!
I wish it was raining or something.
I do not wish it was raining, but if the forecast is right, we're supposed to get rain late tonight/tomorrow?
But you know weather down here - you just never know.
It's sunny and 86 today and I love it.
I think I'm gonna go to the flower farm and pick some tulips after work. This is the last week of them.
Church tonight. Little Rock tomorrow am...branson pm.
Looking forward to the getaway...
I'm writing a test. anyone want to see if you can pass it? it's about stroke patients.
I don't know anything about stroke patients, so I would fail.
Unless this is a test of cognitive ability, to see if you have had a stroke... In which case I would probably pass, because as far as I know I have never had a stroke.
Branson. "David" was a good show/good time. Gonna mosey back home tomorrow..
I guess you've got to see all the shows and stuff to make Branson fun.
I'm really not a huge Branson fan. But it is a cheap get away and it does have a few hidden flea markets, etc. And for Lou and Chey- Klassy Girls and Zadie B's both have stores there. The Sight and Sound theaters that did David always do good Bible plays, and we always enjoy them.
The other shows- eh, really not that interested in them.
Spent the last bit rereading old posts. Lord how I miss so many of our little corner of the web who have passed on...Newsman, Kymymbr, MelB,Yooper.....and those who have left.
@Work. Tired. We had a round of heavy storms last night/afternoon, then had to wash Jeremy's uniform and had to stay up late because of the miscommunication on who was washing them. Our basement gets water near the edges on a good storm, and floods more towards the middle in bad storms. So when he threw his clothes down the chute, they landed in the bit of water against the wall. I was doing okay on being sleepy until the last 20 minutes. LOL.
Saturday I had a ladies day to be at. It was good. I don't normally go to many extra things, but I'm trying to be more present and connected this year - so I went. Church on Sunday morning went well. I had my class make our pastor's wife appreciation cards from them. She was surprised. She's a classy, kind lady and we love her!
Reminder of tomorrow's title... believe no one. LOL. It's Liar's Day! :pound: :biglaugh:
Changes since February when I last posted.. my brother & SIL are having a BOY instead of a GIRL like we originally all thought, haha. I think I'm going with Mom in the first week of August to meet the newest little love. I wish my dad would go, but he's being stubborn on some things. Hopefully we can get his mind changed before we have to buy airline tickets.
This morning I popped by the bank to correct an oversight of mine before an autopay bill hit my account. The teller greeted me with, good morning!
Usually I reply, I'm trying not to think about that. Today I replied, no no no, April fool's Day is tomorrow. You're one day too early with that junk.
Well. Slept in today; did a very little work on Chey's living room; ran errands; went by the church; and went to Little Rock to pick up a blessing. A former coworker who lives in a very well to do neighborhood had posted a new recliner for sale. An elderly neighbor had purchased it and decided it was too big for their living room. An $1100 real leather, electrically controlled with lumbar support, etc... like new, they'd sat in it maybe a dozen times. Nary a scratch. $300. I was very happy to go get it. Of course, guaranteed when I get done with Chey's apartment, Lou will make me replace the couch and other chair to match the new one... but for now it's a great deal. :laughhard:
Ya'll say a quick prayer for my hubbs. He's having surgery on his eye in the morning at 5am.
He's blind in one eye and to avoid the retina detaching he's got some sort of oil that's in there that should have been replaced several years ago and wasn't. So now it's causing issues/pain/inflammation. So the surgery is to hopefully fix that. I'm so nervous for him.
how did the surgery go?
Yes, I was also wondering how his surgery went.
Last night was a scary night that I hope to never experience again. Tornado warnings all around, we were given some misinformation that the tornado was literally down our street. We were in our basement with no ability to watch any live video or radar b/c our internet/power was off and our cell data wasn't working other than for texts/phone calls down in the basement. Thankfully that was not actually happening on our street but there has been some damage locally and no deaths as far as I know in our small area. I know that in other areas there were a few fatalities. Such a scary evening for so many states.
We cancelled church because it was black outside, raining sideways and wind...at around 4pm.
By the time church would have started ot was clearing here, just rain.
Dreary cloudly day today.
Over it and wanna be free.
Taling off tomorrow to take the 95 year old lady minister in my church to a sectional meeting...
Surgery went well. He's still in some pain but so far so good. He's got follow-up next week I guess to see how it's doing. Fun fact: surgery was done while awake. He said the numbing process though was extremely painful. It made him cry. :cry2:
It's no fun when anywhere on your head gets worked on and I'm sure the eye is worst of all.
Had to take my Daisy Mae to the dogtor today Last night at bedtime, I laid a John Grisham hardback I was reading on the bed and turned to put my phone on the nightstand. The book fell off and hit little Daisy's tiny foot. She yelped and cried holding her little foot up for all to see. This morning, she was still limping so to the vet we went. $240 an Xray, a nail trim, and a shot later it was determined to be bruising and sore but not broken. No my little drama queen is demanding to be carried everywhere.... and I'm obeying
Off today. Totally not feeling the section meeting tonight but I'm harnessed in to go... :pound:
I am still here, but busier than a midget mountain climber.
For some reason a tornado tearing up the north end of a town makes everybody in three counties want to go to the fast food place in the south end of that town. I guess sightseeing? We done fed everyone in three counties twice, but they keep coming.
Overtime is officially authorized, so my wallet sees no problem with this.
Is everyone ok with these storms going on? They seemed to split and the bad stuff went around us, thankfully.
We've just gotten Noah's great flood quantities of water. Over it. But fortunately, no wind damage.
Church. This week was state conference, so all weekend has been spent with other preachers. I must admit it was needed.
Sometimes pastoring a local church feels like bailing water out of the Titanic with a teacup. This is one of those times.
But- we did have a visitor this morning. And I have a message for tonight. SO ready for God to move and uplift. It seems like this season has been pruning and it hurts.
Last Saturday my favorite auction place had its first show in a new building. Well, an old car dealer place that they bought.
Several things happened...
About a third of the way through the show, tornado sirens and people's phones started going off. We largely ignored it. It's a pretty stout building.
The guy who was supposed to install air conditioning was running behind. But it's only the start of April so it wasn't all that bad. If it had been August I would have just gone home.
About two thirds of the way through the show, a smell began invading. The owner/auctioneer gave the headset mic to the guy who filled in for him and went to investigate. Apparently there was a guy who rented this building before they bought it, and he had let oil and gas and stuff collect in a repair bay. Rain had flowed into said bay and all that junk was flowing just all over the back area. But that was GOOD news - it was not the gas leak the owner thought he smelled and it was not the burnt wiring I thought I smelled. It was just a big mess that could be cleaned up later. The crowd couldn't even see it from the main auction floor.
About half the building had an electrical strain, because that's the side the cook shack was on. Breakers tripped occasionally. The owner planned to install more breakers before next Saturday's show.
We all rode it out though. We'd all been coming to this auction for months, so we were familiar with each other and the owner and staff. We just took it for what it was and moved on. Ol' Randy will get it patched up and it'll be better next week.
I need a good auction place. Like I need a hole in the head, but I need it nonetheless.
God forevermore showed up and showed out last night. I cannot begin to describe the chains that were broken and things that He did last night. I'm hard headed and fought with Him about what I was supposed to preach..and finally I felt like He asked me "Do you wanna preach what you want to preach and be you, or what I want you to preach and let Me work?" Yes sir. Song service- struggle. Assistant turns it over to me, I simply tried to follow God and got blunt with the congregation... then began to preach what He had given me. Around 40 people there. All the sudden, First one, then another began travailing in prayer, then tongues and interpretation twice....then BOOM. A situation that was destroying someone, and killing me, as well as hurting the church- God resolved. Immediately. A sister began sobbing, her defenses broken... and lord did we ever have a time. I slept GOOD last night, I tell you. And woke up thankful!
Then today I went and gave the Infernal Revenue Service, aka leeches, a large chunk of my hard-earned money for the privilege of laboring. Following that, got a bit of work done on Rusty and a run to Russellville. Tomorrow- sheesh. Back to work. :pound:
Reminds me of this one revival Douglas Klinedinst was preaching. He said one night he was just feeling very unprepared. He had been running errands with the pastor all day long and didn't have the study and prayer time he usually got. While the church was singing that night he knelt by the pastor's study door and said, "God it's just really gonna have to be you tonight. I don't really have it all together this time."
He said God replied, "Well who do you think did it last night?"
Oh. Right. Yessir.

I just ordered a hay bale for curbside pickup from Tractor Supply.
Things I thought I'd never say. LOL
Plopped my little baby seedlings outside so they can get used to the the weather.
Gonna pot them tomorrow. Thus the hay bale. Using it with my soil and compost to hopefully have a good crop.
Also using it for the laundry basket potato hack I saw. They do one layer of straw, a layer of compost, and then the potato eyes and then repeat all the way up the top. People have good results with it. I hope I do!!
SPRING MAKES ME HAPPY :sing:

I did not in fact pot any of my garden seedlings. I instead spent the day being lazy on the couch with the hubs. lol
OH well. Try again another day.

Been a busy weekend for me. The big photo lab printer broke down Friday evening. We had to call Fuji tech support Saturday to have them send a tech to fix the machine. Its now Monday afternoon and we're still waiting on that tech.
Spent Saturday evening switching my phone number over to a Tracfone plan with just enough data to get picture texts. Trying to give my internet addiction the boot.
So weary. Was gonna take today for me,,just relax. Then wound up with a saint in a Little Rock Hospital so wound up going there, then buying some tile for the never-ending apartment project. I DID give myself permission for a two hour ish nap....which I never do. Back to work tomorrow.
Still waiting for Fuji to come fix the photo lab printer. :sadbounce:
Fuji came while I was on lunch and fixed the big printer.
Also got my replacement instant printer in today so a coworker and I changed that out.
Hi. Dashing in- seems like that's all I get time to do anymore and it is only in the evening mostly. Went by the local computer store and picked up two new Lenovo laptops for the church- one for multimedia powerpoints, etc and one for the secretary as the computer in that office is literally a Windows XP machine from the very early 2000's, even sporting the big clunky monitor. It has never in its term of existence been on the web either for updates or anything as Bro Wilson was scared that if it were online the church account could potentially be hacked.
I hate spending money, but it seems the last two and a half, three years have been a constant need to upgrade things that are at the end of life and beyond.
On the other hand, if the Lord calls me home soon, the next guy will have a good physical structure to build on, with lots of new toys. :biglaugh:
Lenovo can be a really good thing if it is thinkpads. Those things are built to last way longer than you want them to. When you are wishing they would die so you can justify buying a new one, they keep running. New ones are doggone expensive though. I only ever get used ones off ebay.
Ideapads, not so much.

I had several variants of a Lenovo thinkpad for my work computer over the years. And you are soooo right. They just keep on trekking even though they cause so much trouble!! I had one at one point that had that little red button as a mouse thingie in the middle lol...
Now thankfully I have a DELL.

If the heifer that occupies our Governor's Mansion listened to me, I'd be a lot better paid and a certain amount of stupidity would cease. Unfortunately, that's not the case. I've heard bits about that bill but have no idea what is in it or why CVS is getting booted out. I've ONLY heard CVS mentioned as being affected, which puzzles me- how are they different from Walmart??
Been a week. Much talking to GOd, much being talked to by God, much work....and stress. And my shoulder hurts. And when I unloaded the tile tonight I did so (in my wife's words) "like you were 25 again and you aren't". This resulted in me feeling a pop and the pain of a pulled muscle or rib cartilage- on the opposite side of my body from the bad shoulder- AND having to face facts that 48, nearly 49 is NOT the new 20. :pound: :pound:
It'll be a pain medicine and recliner night I suspect.

Google says it is because CVS is owned by a pharmacy benefit manager. Apparently it is a conflict of interest for a pharmacy benefit manager to own a pharmacy that sells the drugs the pharmacy benefit manager is arranging.
From Google:
A Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) is a company that manages the prescription drug benefits for health insurers, Medicare Part D plans, large employers, and other payers. They act as a middleman betwcompanieseen pharmacies, drug manufacturers, and insurance , negotiating prices, processing claims, and setting up pharmacy networks.

Basically this yes. A PBM is who manages the "drug" part of your insurance coverage. Thus pharmacy benefit management. So when you go to the pharmacy for Drug A and the pharmacy enters the info into their system and runs it thru your insurance....oh wait...this drug isnt on your formulary plan (the approved drug list bartered between your job and the insurance) so it's not covered. You can either pay full price $857.37 or call your DR and get Drug B or Drug C as they are approved drugs.
This is what I do. lol I work for the PBM now. Thankfully I don't have any clients in AR.

Bout near tired of these rampant tornados. I've read 5 touched down Saturday night across WTX and OK.
Thank goodness none in Ardmore, but one was in Ada (very close). Lordy... between the wind, tornados, and state tax, I am OVER living in OK. lol
Woke up Sunday AM with scratchy throat. By the afternoon, I was congested. Today I woke up with it in my chest. It's hard to take medicine that will help you when you are on BP meds, haha. Hoping today I can start the uptick. Thankfully at least the congestion pressure isn't horrible today even tho I do have a slight headache as well. Took some Mucinex this morning to see if I could get some productive cough at some point. We shall see! I did sleep better last night than I had the previous night. That's a blessing! haha.
Are you guys also in that awkward temp where you can't quite keep it cool enough or warm enough at the right time in your house? Part of our sleep issue the past two nights is because it's just too warm in our room. I can't sleep with the fan right on me right now because of the head cold/sinus stuff. I'll be GLAD when the weather figures itself out. Plus if it could leave the storms aside, that'd be great. Rain shower all you want, just leave the hail and tornado alone. lol
I keep it cold and use a really good comforter to modulate through the night. The colder it is, the more of me is covered. The warmer it is, the more of me comes out from under the comforter.
Yeah, it is hot- then cold here too. Trying to motivate myself to start on Chey's tile. Rusty is shiny with a new coat of clear coat over his battle scars- he gets one every few years, to keep him looking respectable. And tomorrow is Lou's 42nd birthday. And the only clue I have that she would like is a perfume she mentioned to Chey.
She has everything except a maid- not gonna happen cause I don't like people prowling through my house- and a dishwasher (no place to put it).
I'm easy. Buy gun or car parts. Lou- not so much. :pound:
Decided to take Friday/Monday off. Decided a few days off just cus was needed. And lord knows I have plenty of PTO.
It stormed early this morning. Supposed to do that the remainder of the week, not looking forward to that.
I am being conflicted with some sort of hives again. IDK what's going on but I hate it. :pound:
I totally WANT to take off a few days. But I know 1) everyone on my caseload will screw up and cause me ten days of work for every one day I am off and 2) as sure as I do, that'll be when it rains, snows or sleets AND my arm or hip will suddenly become 100 years old and ache.
So I go to work and grumble about how bad I'd like to be off.
Back a hostage again.:pound:
At least my shoulder isnt as bad as it has been after they prayed for it last night
We had a big storm early AM. But it's done now I think. It's storms off and on again all weekend per the weather app. Boooooo. But I know the rain is useful.
I just found chocolate whipped cream in a squirt can at ALDI. I did not need chocolate whipped cream, but it came home with me anyway just because I was curious. It's yummy. It kinda tastes like a chocolate mousse.

I need that. I had no idea it was a thing, but Id totally chug an entire can just based on your description
I've seen that before. And chugged that before. All in one sitting. And I decided to never, ever, ever buy that again, because I chugged it all at once.
Shew. Today was busy. Qualified my office on shooting. Ran errands. Did Jail visits. did mucho paperwork. Came home to find Rusty's wheels and tires were delivered. Went to dinner with Lou and Chey, ran by Walmart, came home and test fit the wheels, then painted them.
Now tomorrow is my day since Lou is gone to a ladies' tea with Chey. So, I will get up, go have the new tires mounted to the new wheels, come home and install them, and go check on a church member in the hospital. Mulling on Sunday's sermon already...
Rest is never gonna catch me.
As is by now customary, I got tired just reading that.
On Fridays and Saturdays I clock out at noon. The auction does not start on Saturday until 5:00 p.m. this is problematic as the auction is in the same town as my job, and my house is a couple towns away.
I have spent a few hours at my job, sitting in the lobby, playing fallout 3 on a laptop.
Well. Tires mounted. Rusty looks amazing. And I did go visit my sick saint, but I enjoyed a day to myself puttering backroads taking pictures. I then came home and...worked. Shew.
I'm at a point in my life that no one wants to be. My hubby of 42 years collapsed last night. I call 911 but they couldn't revive him. :cry2:
I'm so sorry. My heart breaks for you today. Prayers for you and your family.
So sorry Fuzz. We are praying for you and your family..
I am so sorry! Praying for you and your family!!
Morning. On the road to osceola to pick up one. Soooo tired.
Oh Sandra. I cant even imagine. I'm so sorry. To Chel and Dina too. Praying for you all. :sadbounce:
Hi.
Y'all, I have no idea what I'm doing at this point. Please pray for me to have direction and wisdom.
I know what you are going through Fuzzy. Praying for you.
Fuzz, I am praying God guides you and directs you, as well as giving you comfort and peace. We love ya.
Yes, we all love you very much!! Praying you find direction and peace. Praying for the kids as well.
It's raining again. In July we'll be asking for rain.
At this point I don't see me asking for rain for the rest of the year. :pound: I am THAT over it!
It was raining so hard this afternoon when we were on interstate that folks were slowing down and using their flashers. You could hardly see.
It poured here too all morning yesterday. Suns shining bright and mighty today though. :sing:

*Bookmarking this post so I can find it later, during a dry spell, because you are definitely going to be reminded of this one.
today and tomorrow. then I'm off to Arkansas for the weekend! Cleared out my storage shed of a car last night. Gotta drop off stuff at the church tomorrow night that belongs in my classroom, and then I need to vacuum and wipe the dash down. I'm thinking about paying to have it detailed this summer. It hasn't been that clean since I bought it. also - I paid off my vehicle this last month! I decided this year if I got any bonus at work, I'd pay off my car first thing (other than church giving), so I did! I'm glad to have that off my plate and out of my budget!
It's been quiet around GP lately.
How you doing Sandra!!? *hugs*
I've been having hives issues again, but these are different then the heat/sweat ones I had last summer. These look like bug bites, but we cant figure it out. So I saw dr today. She did blood stuff for regular panel and then is running an autoimmune panel. Then I see the allergist next Thursday, so I cant take any of my histamines until then, soooo that's gonna be fun. Sigh.
I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the situation. Other than that I'm functioning ok.
Hope your hives get better.
I've found myself to be too busy to get on much. It really cramped my style when they blocked this site on my work computer. :pound: Work has been insane and shows no promise of letting up. Church- yeah, I'm insane there too.
I wonder if life will ever slow down just a bit for me?
Fuzzy, even though I haven't said much you've been in my thoughts and prayers.
So parts of my blood panel are back and theres a part called "absolute neutrophils" thats related to immune system? And my numeber is like 1000 over what that normal range is.. So curious to see what the autoimmune panel says.
The one thats related to anemia is super high too. White blood is high.
and cholesterol is high but that's nothing new
Guess we'll see what the autoimmune thing says.
That's the reason I never go to the doctor. They never have good news, like you need to eat more pizza or something.
Speaking of pizza... Yesterday I tried a new pizza joint.
The owner is very not-South. And it ain't his accent that gives it away. His chit-chat game is abysmal. Here in the South you gotta be sociable.
I hope he picks up on that soon, because his pizza is great! I saw them slicing up bell peppers manually. He makes stromboli from scratch, pulls out the dough into a long string, flattens it, puts filling in, folds and bakes it. When I left they were slicing up tiny tomatoes.
He also makes rice balls. I had to ask what a rice ball is. Then I got three. Just a few minutes ago I ate the last one. Now I am happy because I am full, but sad because there are no more rice balls.
We make pizza at home. It's better than buying it these days lol

Walmart is working me to death so I've not had energy to be on here
Well, Hi.
Been running myself ragged. Saturday I had the wonderful opportunity to spend time with Mini- our ladies in church had a Mother's Day Tea, and Sis Kim graciously agreed to be the speaker. Mini and I slipped off for a drive and dinner, both of which were much needed. Bless his heart, he has became my confidant and shoulder to cry on and I am so thankful for him.
Yesterday was service. I would say unremarkable, but any time I am privileged to be in the House of God and in His presence is something to celebrate and remember. No matter what the trial and storms that happen, I know Someone in control.
And in life- I thought my savings account was actually getting healthy and might allow for a nice reward- maybe a new toy, or a pleasant cruise for my wife and I.... just something to help us recharge. Ha! The A/c unit has died, of course right before the forecasted heat wave, and the local companies are all booked out two weeks. . So not amused. So annoyed. Then, so thankful that I have the means to make it happen even if it does require some shuffling and "creative financing".
Spent yesterday evening at a hospital with a saint- got in at 1030 pm. Went back and picked him up at 3pm today...got him home, laid literally two boxes of tile, came in to put dinner on, and sat down...phone goes off. ANOTHER saint. "Bro Moses I'm in the Conway Hospital, blood pressure through the roof. Would you pray?" Yes. And if you need I'll head that way. Yes. He would like Pastor there. So, I got to go to two different hospitals for two different saints each 25 miles from my home in opposite directions today. I'm gonna wear out the truck. :laughhard:
And in whining- I DON'T WANNA GO TO WORK TOMORROW! :pound: :pound: :pound:
:couch:
I don't wanna go to work any day to be fair. lol I do not dream of corporate labor!! :pound:
Well. Ac unit ordered. *sob* Stuck at work listening to an online droning class. It blows my mind that a job which required a bachleor's degree apparently does not think that its employees can read and thus make you listen to someone reading the slides word for word.
Having met some of my coworkers though....well, there might be a reason.
But I'm still hacked at it.
Saw the allergist today. Did the skin prick test.
Only thing that flagged: Dust and "cockroach mix". Super.
I live in Oklahoma where the wind blows 349348 hours a day. lol :pound:
Man this day dun got stuck in granny low. I am over ready to call it done.
Not much exciting happening in my world. Slept in this morning. Mowed the grass. Dad delivered potted Begonias for my birthday. Went to the spaghetti supper at church.
I contacted a semi local farm known for its corn. We are going to try a new fund raiser for the youth- selling fresh corn. I reserved 50 bags of 60-ish ears each, set a day to go get it (June 16) fresh...and put an add on fb. Whoa. I think we've taken preorders for around 30 bags already. I'm gonna be up to my ears in corn delivery , pun intended.
Already over today.
Athena ran across the road chasing a squirrel or cat - not sure since it was a dark blur to me. Almost got hit by a car. (We live near the local speedway according to the daily drivers going by.. LOL.)
Here at work. Storms show up this afternoon and they're saying it's going to be really bad. Seems like tornados really like us lately.
Today turned out fairly pretty and hot. Mowed the yard, cleaned up the shop a bit, did some minor things around the house before I went to dinner. Tomorrow- church..
If properly run, an auction can be a fascinating place.
Did you know they make Dr pepper flavored peeps?
And one of the regular sellers has a friend who makes homemade tamales, so occasionally she sells homemade tamales at the auction house. And they are delicious.
Have you ever bought small bags of white cheddar cheetos, by the case of 36? I got four cases, if you happen to want any white cheddar Cheetos in the next half a year or so.
Rain. Again. So over it; the storms; the wind; just let me have the summer and be done with it! (But Lord wait until the new a.c is installed next week before You fire up the furnace please)
Going to the doctor tomorrow over my shoulder. Scared to death I will hear "surgery"

My mom got a packet of Dr Pepper Peeps this year and LOVED them. I don't personally eat Peeps, but I always buy her some b/c she's a fan. lol..
Somehow survived the weekend. EF4 tornado went within a mile of my work Friday evening. Wiped out a former coworker's house. Thankfully they were on day one of their vacation and not home. Their horses survived thankfully. We've had too many tornados this year and they're getting TOO close for comfort. More storms tonight and tomorrow.
I'm exhausted. Friday storms, Saturday a wedding (near the same area) until late, Sunday we had two services and the night service was a long (but good) one. Kids were on one that morning in my class. I think someone injected them with sugar before class, haha.
I worked almost 50 hours last week trying to help get resets done in the Electronics department before inventory this week. Wore myself down enough I was unintentionally getting snippy with my manager the next day.
Had a sensory, stress overload meltdown Sunday before service and had to step away from doing ProPresenter. One of the other media team members took over for me. I'm scheduled for ProPresenter again on Wednesday so hopefully things go better.
The Walmart parking lot is being milled and repaved. The stuff stinks and burns my nose.

Okay, after a notification like that... You ARE going to keep us posted, right? Cause that's a BLEEP of a cliffhanger.
And don't get me started about the rain. Dad has been trying to get his shop built beside the house. (Well, the manifest calls it a pole barn. Whatever. He's going to stash lots of rocks and rock grinding/polishing stuff and spend a lot of time in it working on rocks.) But rain has kept the workmen at bay all last week. It has really been quite annoying.

Are you still at your grandmas house?
So.
Long story short, I know I've mentioned the shoulder pain here a few times, but I don't know if I ever explained it. Around 18 to 20 years ago, and lord that makes me feel ancient, I was a young, in shape police officer. I encounter a young man who was very much on the opposite side of the badge games from me, and my job was to take him in. his, apparently, was to prevent that. I won- and lost. In the fight, I managed to pop my right shoulder. It hurt like the dickens, but seemed to pop back in place, so my dumb young self assumed it was all good.
Over the years, I have had a few instances where it flared up, hurt for a few days and then went away. For the last several months though, it hasn't gone away and my mobility has suffered. I don't have near the range of motion I had, and it hurts badly. The doctor has referred me to an orthopedic specialist and stated he expected them to try a cortisone shot and some PT before moving to an MRI and possibly surgery. At this point, anything to stop the pain.
And tomorrow, the A/C will be installed. Thankfully.
Glad you're getting to looked at and taken care of.
Currently awake thanks to tornado sirens and warnings going off on my phone. I've mentioned I'm over this right? More storms coming the remainder of the morning and into the afternoon. Hopefully less eventful. We do have a shelter in our garage at work now thankfully!
Me and the dog are the only ones awake. She's in her kennel and she is terrified of storms. The cat came to sleep by me when the siren went off. I'm glad it doesn't make her hide at least so she's easy to find if I need to toss her in a crate to get in the basement lol. Silver linings!
Quote from: The Purple Fuzzy on May 20, 2025, 01:48:01 AMAre you still at your grandmas house?
It's complicated, and I've been trying to not think about it.
Grandma's house is the family's Ancestral Home, where all the kids grew up, so nobody wants to lose it. Dad actually bought it from Grandma so it would not be liquidated if she had to go to a nursing home. Dad seems insistent on the idea of me living here in perpetuity.
Meanwhile in east Tennessee Mom wants to leave me her house when she dies, in custody for my mentally disabled brother so there will always be a place for him to stay.
Meanwhile I want a small shack out in the woods, as long as it has electricity, plumbing and good cellular signal. But eh...
Folks always making you choose. Sometimes between a rock and a hard place.

I am sooooo over Oklahoma's weather lol. I blame Mini.
My cat growls at the thunder Nelle LOL it's so funny. Then he "hides" But you can still see him.
The other cat she's from the streets and she sleeps right thru the storms. Kekos the third cat just follows me around army crawling as low as she can get to the floor. As if thats helpul. lol
I didn't have anything to do with the weather. :pound:
Sunday morning, storms. The neighbor had a dead tree, which blew over and snapped the power lines. Sunday afternoon, the power company finally comes by, and says, "Oh, we have to call a tree trimming crew." The tree trimming crew shows up, makes a huge mess, and leaves.
The power company never shows back up.
Monday, about 3 pm, I got a text from another neighbor saying the power company was back. They work, get the lines up, and about 5 tell me the power will be back on in about 15 minutes.
Nope.
They found another line down, and have to get it back up.
In the meantime, I get called back to work. I get there about 6 pm, storms are moving in. By 6:45, tornado sirens are going off in town, so I head back home. Make it home about 7:15, no power.
Storm hits at 7:30, power comes back on right about then, and buddy, the bottom dropped out of the sky. We had 3 inches of rain in 30 minutes, and another inch before the night was over.

Shew. Back at work. Second day of the week and it feels like the 100th day of the week.
Tarred, irritable, and soley because I am counting calories, thus I must feel like I am starving- I could eat a deep fried shetland pony smothered in ranch right now
I know where you got that line about the deep fried Shetland pony, but I ain't telling.
Tonight is graduation in this town. Everybody has to go to McDonald's for some reason. For graduation?! If you're too poor to afford something better, stay at home. There's better food at home.
I hope some mothers and fathers get taken to McDonald's on mothers and Father's day. They deserve it.
Just a hair over 2 hours to go... ready to go home
It's been somewhat rainy today, stalling out all I planned. I did manage to get Bro Roger out and take him to a birthday party for a Brother in the church. It hurts to see someone you love go down so swiftly- his condition has really deteriorated in the past two months. He is keeping a good attitude .
I am now at home resting, praying and studying for tomorrow
Adina's crew and Alex's crew came to see me this weekend.
Our cousin's daughter is graduating tonight from 8th grade. Wasn't aware this was a thing until I moved up here. It feels expensive to have such fine goings-on for 8th grade. If you didn't know better, you'd think she was graduating from high school. BUT - we love her, so we're going.
We're having our graduation service next weekend, so I guess we are expected to get everyone presents? I know growing up, our graduation service we always gave everyone cards/money. We have two 8th grade graduates, one high school, one college bachelors and one college masters. I'm proud for them all, and maybe I'm just a grumbly guss, but it feels like at some point, we stop being expected to give presents? I dunno. The masters one has another graduation coming up in a couple of years because she's going back to school. It's just hard etiquette and budget-wise to know what to do in these kinds of moments, haha. High school and final college feels like plenty. What do you even get people for these besides money - and if money, how much? LOL.. I'm a bundle of confusion and awkwardness.
I enjoyed my longer weekend at home. Other than church Sunday AM - I was at home Sat-Mon. This week is turnover week for my sunday school classroom. Switching from "camp/ranch" to space. It's a lot of work and money to change every 3 months, but I know the kids enjoy it and it is expected to change with the curriculum.
I may have needed several more days off work and off-life, haha. I did some laundry this weekend, but I didn't do anything else I needed to get done around the house. I need better motivation - not in the form of visitors tho hahaha.
I also need to go get my real ID so that I can travel to CA in August to meet my new nephew. I can't get my mom to decide how long she's going to stay, so we can't even purchase the tickets yet. I feel stressed about the trip.. really wish my dad would go instead of me, hahaha. Mom makes me nervous in an airport when I'm responsible for her. I'm scared she's gonna pack something crazy hahaha. (I've been watching a show where custom & border protection inspect random passengers etc., and I know we're traveling in the US, so it won't be the same, but it's made me nervous. LOL)
I guess I should stop chattering like a squirrel and get back to my actual paid work, lol.
Dina and I have been making blackberry jelly.
:waving:
Checking in. And Nell i totally get the gift thing.
Try being the preacher. We are expected to be at EVERY celebration. And you would not believe how many parties people throw. Grandkids birthday, church birthday, graduation, kindergarten graduation, etc etc.
I'm gifted out.
And...then folks who might be struggling a bit...OK a lot... I need to help them too so they don't fall out and feel we don't care.
Just ain't enough coming in for all people expect.
Lord love em.
I need a member to go play the lottery without telling me, win a few 100 million, feel guilty and pay tithe and a large offering. :laughhard:
Roscoe.. I'd be catatonic every single day. I get social'd out as it is and I can avoid most gatherings, hahaha. I wouldn't make it a week and I'd be done. It's not even always the actual event, it's the expectation of being at the events. I usually have fun once I get somewhere, but I dread it all day long (and prepare my day around it). The wedding a week ago started at 4pm. I kept looking at the clock and calculating the hours I had until I had to get ready, and had to leave, etc. LOL. It's exhausting just that part!
And I absolutely agree. One of the high schoolers is in a large non-biological family where adoption has occurred. He will definitely be getting a gift and so will the bachelor degree girl. The 8th graders are the ones I feel the weirdest about because they're literally just going to blow the money. They have zero bills LOL.. so I dunno. I worry mostly because I worry about them realizing they didn't all get the same value or something, ya know? I love them all, and I'm proud of them all, but if we base it on need... it's not equal for gifting. We'll see. I had already purchased some items for the masters degree grad, before I found out we were having a graduation service, and I hadn't planned on giving her money. I'm just trying to find a fair, budget-conscious avenue. :)
Oh, it KILLS me. LOL. I'm slightly more social than Seth, but very anti-social and awkward. I try to escape by letting the wife, who is a social butterfly, make appearances.., but sometimes they expect "Pastor". Funny how one on one I can talk to anyone; church I am cool with; but as soon as possible, I head for a cave to recharge.
I'm not sure Elijah was depressed as much as he was anti-social. Ran to the cave, got to thinking about things and bam, God had to send Him a still small voice. :laughhard:
Thought the Walmart crazy would be over with inventory. Apparently it's not over yet. Another major batch of resets got dropped for the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch 2. Also found out whole store remodel got moved up from August to July.
My right hip has been hurting lately. Working all day on a concrete floor makes it worse. Been keeping me awake at night too. Discovered that biking is less painful on the hip than driving. Possibility of rain tomorrow so I have to decide if I want the hip to hurt from driving or if I want to chance getting wet while biking.
Graduation survived. It was HOT and stinky in there with all those people, but she was excited because so many showed up for her. When I look at her, I see that little 1 year old kiddo I met when I first moved up here. Hard to believe she's 14 and her sister is 8. Jeremy's service dog did NOT enjoy the graduation at all, hahaha. It was SO loud.
Still trying to decide if I'm gonna be able to go to the other 8th grade one on Monday morning. I'd have to miss several hours of work and it affects the one coworker I have left that day, haha. So I'll have to run this by her. Hopefully the girl will have PLENTY of people visiting and I won't need to take off, but I will if she doesn't.
At some point you have to just give them a card with well wishes lol.
I've had a rough few days. We found out somehow we got bed bugs. Husbands been in hotels the last 3 weeks and we think that's how it got in. It's been absolutely AWFUL and expensive.
But now we know why I've been having hives/itching for a month?! SIGH.
All that money paid to the allergist for nothing!!
Feels like we're hemorrhaging money we don't have.
I'm over being an adult. Can I get a refund? :smirk2:
oh no!! That's horrible/horrific/horrid/allthoseotherwords. Are you finally rid of them yet?
Lordy I don't know. We checked the headboard again yesterday and I didnt see anything. One dead one.
But this morning I found one near hubbs pillow. I'm not sure if it was dead or not though.
They come do their treatment again in 2 weeks, and then a third time in 4 weeks. To make sure.
I just am ready to get thru it. I'm so grossed out every time I think about it.
Shew. Finally a moment. Been a long busy few days. I've got to work tomorrow to deal with a transport. I'll take off Friday in its place. Really drained, emotionally and physically at this point.
And re: Bedbugs. They are nearly impossible to be rid of. We got them a few years ago- I burned furniture and every thing else before they were gone....and I am still paranoid. If I ever feel and itch in the night I begin worrying they are back.
re: Bedbugs
There is a video i watched where they talk about how to get rid of bedbugs...and its not the products they sell at the stores to kill bedbugs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JAOTJxYqh8
It might be worth the watch.
Well we ended up throwing out the box springs cus they were in that. That's where bug guy found them.
Then we found them on the fabric headboard. So we threw that out too. lol
Our mattress is pricy and protected so it's been okay thank goodness.
They come again to spray treatment 6/16.
But hoping since we got rid of all the areas they were in that helped too.
and yea Bobby every time I feel the wind blow on my skin I'm worried LOL

This was so gross to watch lol. But I've read already that they are quickly becoming immune to stuff. We didn't use over the counter bed bug spray. We used heavy stuff via the bug guy. It did work so far that we can tell. All of the bugs we could see on the bedframe did die. Plus we used the steamer I have all over it. But we like I said got rid of the frame altogether lol.
We also did what video said and washed literally everything in hot water + drying. Plus anything not washable we threw in the dryer for 50 mins. lol
We did buy that one bed bug thing that's powder that has diatomatous earth in it.
We are going through over 40 years accumulation of stuff. It's overwhelming. Thankfully, Dina is here helping me. I'm sure I won't finish before she has to leave but I'm thankful to have her help. Maybe if I get the hardest part done I'll be able to finish the rest on my own.
I know that is hard, Fuzz. Praying for ya. I can only imagine. This makes 20 years we've lived in our house, and I'm on a throw away everything kick because of the clutter. Mercy. So much junk.
I too, have been cleaning closets out. Gave away 5 bags of clothes now to Goodwill, and did 2 full bags of blankets/towels to the animal shelter.
And we don't even own lol we rent. Sigh. I would love to own so badly. I want my own space to do with what I want. I want to fill the yard with flowers. Paint walls. Do all the things.
Went to w*rk. Came home.
Just so you know, I'm still alive
Absolutely dying here. Today is taking forever. I cant keep my eyes open and Im ready to go home.
I got very little sleep last night and its showing on the old fat dude this evening.
The storms were soooo dramatically loud last night. I checked more than once to see if a tree outside our house (at our neighbors actually) had been struck and was on fire at that point. The only reason I knew it didn't actually hit our house was because our house wasn't reacting to any electrical changes hahaha. It was SO loud. So me and the dog didn't sleep well. Incredibly hard to get up this morning.
I just told my coworker that it felt like it was surely almost 4pm.. it's 2. LOL.
:waving:
:waving:
Stormed here this morning. Lou and I went for a flea market crawl then came home. And now, like an idiot, I am fixing to drive to the other side of conway because my daughter does not do directions well and needs to go see someone who is feeling poorly and cant come down.
Shew. Ok. Sunday over. God showed up and I didnt get to preach. Tomorrow- dr visit....work on Rusty and meet a saint for a bit. Tuesday- my day. Wed- interview. Thurs- uncle down, prayer meeting evening. Friday Car show. Sat- maybe car show. Sunday- Mini is over to preach, potluck. Monday- go get corn for fundraiser. I thought this was a vacation?!?!
Are you taking bets on whether Tuesday will really be your day? What are the odds right now?
I'll put $40 at 6 to 1 against.
You'd have made a couple hundred bucks. Busy with at least two church members before I snuck off to a few minutes with God and a few more on petit jean talking with friends. So partially my day. Now its 2 am and the interview for a job that I didnt think I cared either way about is keeping me awake... :pound:
I don't think I've ever seen this much rain in June. It's been constant and the grass has been growing like crazy.
Well, Lord. Made it through the interview. I feel it went well, now the waiting game to see how it turned out. Was pretty but overcast today, and they predict rain tonight late and tomorrow. Not a fan- this is car show week! And we, too, have had a ton of rain. I'm over it. Off to teach Bible study tonight...working on some of Holiness- what it is and why it is important.
Then next week we move to Oneness, followed by the New Birth experience.
This week I've had an encounter that has broken my heart and underscored the need for this teaching. Long before the encounter, God had already lead me to this series of study...
i would have made six and two thirds dollars. That was very short odds I quoted. I considered it a pretty sure thing.
What concerns me now is the part about at least two church members. It must have been a rough day if you can only approximate something like that.
Quote from: The Purple Fuzzy on June 11, 2025, 07:24:27 PMI don't think I've ever seen this much rain in June. It's been constant and the grass has been growing like crazy.
Same here. Hubbs also commented other day it was in the 60's and he was like it's June this weather is so odd.
Home from my family trip to Missouri. Saw people I never even met on Mom's dad's side. Saw my Grams sister and her daughter who i HAVE met. Met my grams mothers sisters daughters LOL if that makes sense. Was a loud and fun filled time lol. Encountered crazy storms the second to last day and the tornado alarms going off in Joplin, as well as at home in Ardmore. This weather I tell you.
Hi, all. Been busy, as the norm for my life over the past bit. Church made over $1k on the yardsale for the youth. Mini and Kim came over and blessed our church today...phenomenal move of God, and we enjoyed dinner together. Our time was as usual entirely too brief but I am so thankful God gave me Mini for a brother. One of the bits of encouragement he shared to me personally in the office was as impactful as anything I have ever heard- it was God, we both felt it, and I will feast and draw strength from it.
After church, I had to go to Little Rock for Bro Roger- back in the hospital. I enjoyed the company of my assistant pastor for that- pro tip= don't try to abbreviate "assistant" in the normal three letters and a period in typing, it DOES NOT come out well. After I dropped him off, I went and picked up a trailer so I can leave at 3 am to go get the corn the church has sold. Now at 9pm, I am trying to unwind and go to sleep... :pound:
I abbreviate it Asst. for that very reason LOL.. if I abbreviate at all.
Long week(end) yet short. Been under the weather for several days. Hoping it's on its way out the door asap.
Hoping for a quiet Monday at work.
Still sorting through stuff. I'm going through my closet now. Stuff I just never wear...
Had our second treatment for the hitchhikers. Everything looked good. He found 2 dead ones on the floor behind where the bed sits. So I think we're getting in the clear. We do one more treatment again in 2 weeks.
I am so sick of doing laundry lol
:hi: God said no to the promotion.
Working hard.
Having good church.
Making hell mad
Going to get more sweet corn for the youth fundraiser- bought 100 bags monday and sold out within four hours. $800 profit.
I'll get 75 to 100 more Saturday and sell it.
Might actually get Chey's living room floor finished in the next week or so
MJJ - I love the hitchhikers name lol. Glad you're almost seeing the light at the tunnel end!
Roscoe - Sorry about the promotion. God must have an even better blessing down the road for you! Sometimes I wish we could see what we were saved from after the fact.. but faith wouldn't be faith then I guess haha.
@Work.
allergies have been POPPIN off. I finally had to go get some higher strength. If this doesn't snap them back into peacefulness, I'll have to hit up my doctor for some help.
Lawd. It's nearly 8 pm. I've been up since 230 am..and just had around three hours sleep before that. My sleepy is sleepy, but I am too tired to sleep. :pound: 100 more bags purchased, 56ish bags sold before 100 degrees sent me home packing. Sadly, this mean Monday I'll be back peddling produce. May have to change Rusty's cool door art for a sign that says
The "Pentecostal Produce Peddler- produce from the prophets." :laughhard:
I am burnt to a crisp too.. church tomorrow.
I'm sitting at the repair shop waiting on my dad to come pick me up. Going to get my van window repaired so I don't have to drive the big ole truck.
Worked all weekend doing Walmart deliveries. Have a promo to complete 40 trips from 6/15 - 6/28 and I will earn an extra $400. Too good to pass up. I've done 27/40. Only 13 to go!! But will have to work every day this week after day job to hit it!!
We did end around 530 yesterday so we could come home and rest. I got in the pool for a bit, we grilled steaks and made fresh corn on the cob I got for 33 cents lol wooo.
If I don't hear the word "corn" again until next year, I'll be ok with it. :pound: Got up this morning and setup with over 40 bags to sell. Three of the kiddos met up with me and sat with me. Unfortunately so did a sister from the church who has never found a subject she could not expound upon. I was peopled out in ten minutes- and she stayed. She was kind enough to bring me a drink and Taco Bell's cinnamon bites, which I appreciated.... but I really wanted peace. Finally sold out at around 230 pm. Total sold since last Monday- 200 bags of approximately 62-64 ears each bag. At 62 ears a bag that is over 12 THOUSAND ears of corn I've been involved way too intimately with this week. :biglaugh:
Got home a bit after 3pm, too worn out from the heat to do anything. Next weekend is mine.. The last three weeks have been for others. I GOTTA catch up here!
But, we did manage to bring a profit of an estimated $1600 for the youth out of the two loads of corn. Even if it did make Pastor look like a burned, big jowled bloodhound, I guess it was worth it.
Now I know the secret to why your jokes are so corny.
:pound: Lynx.
Back at work. Saw 6 clients. 7 more to go. Trying to be a people person. Not really working.
Over working for a living and ready to go home
So thankful today is Friday.
I am irritated for no good reason
It would be mama's 81st birthday today. I miss her even after 9 years of her being gone and over twenty since we had a normal conversation, before dementia took her.
Weird how fast time goes.
It's like a roll of t.p.. I JUST put it on and now the cardboard tube is showing. :laughhard:

I'm sure he has a cornucopia of jokes. :hypocrite:
I too, am over working to live. I really want a farm house some day and it just seems like I'm never gonna get there.
I'm clawing my way to the end of my day in an hour.
I have came home and stalled out. No mo work today. Hungry but don't know what I want. Don't want to go to town or spend money either. :pound:
My kiddos have been helping me this weekend.
I've got two Boston butt roasts in my refrigerator!
But today is auction day, so I will slice them up and put them in the freezer tomorrow before church.
Apparently people in Boston don't know their butts from their shoulders. A Boston butt roast is actually from the shoulder of the pig, close to the neck.
(Yes I know why it is really called that. But it's fun to say that anyway.)
The skin on my head/face/ears has decided to rebel the past three weeks. I haven't dealt with this in about 10 years on my mouth/lips. Ears has been even longer. Eyes happen, but this time feels like it might be connected to the other two more so than a regular allergy issue. It's ONLY my neck and up, so I'm not sure. BUT I at least did get an appointment on Wednesday with my doctor! The itchy and watery mess is driving me nuts haha.
Well, my weekend comes to a close. :pound: I did get most all of the remaining tile laid- I've got four or five cuts to make and lay- then I can grout it.
Tomorrow is gonna be mucho busy. Wednesday not as much, and Then I am off for a couple days. Lou and I may run away friday and spend friday night and saturday out.
Well we got the call yesterday to move back to Wichita Falls (in Texas). A manager gave notice at a store in DFW so they're making moves and we'll go back to Wichita Falls. This time with Adam (husband) as the main Store Director this time. (reminder we moved from there to here in OK for hubbs to get promoted to store director). That store is very high volume so a much more busy store for him to work. Which is good, cus he's bored here already lol.
It will be within the next month we were told so July is gonna be a whirlwind again.
Oh wow, good thing you work from home. That'd be a mess if you didn't. It'd sure mess with YOUR job. Are you glad to be going back to Texas? When did you move last time?
Yea thankfully my job allows us to do these moves lol.
So before when we were in Wichita Falls in 2024 - Adam wasn't Store Director. He was just an assistant. He finally got promoted to Store Director which is why we moved here to Ardmore. So he could run his own store. But now the manager in Wichita Falls store is moving to Dallas/Ft Worth for her career path development. So they're moving Adam back to Wichita Falls to now run the store as the big boss Store Director. It's much higher volume than here in Ardmore. So more challenges etc. to help with his development also.
And yes I am excited. I like the smaller town here, but I miss not having state tax lol... and I have a friend in W. Falls.
Plus we found out yesterday that Adams dad who lives in Iowa Park (15 mins from W. Falls) is not doing well health wise. So seems like there is a reason we're heading back there. God knows.
Well. Congrats Jenn!
Made it through a very trying day, made worse by stomach issues. On Wednesday no less. So church was a prayer at a time and I was much less verbose tonight. Made it home before the demons attacked again. Praying it gets better before tomorrow. Lou and I are gonna slip away somewhere for two days
Had our final hitchhiker spray today and we are in the clear. No more issues hallelujah!!!
Well. Did a bunch of nothing overly productive beyond mowing the yard today. Lou and I went to bed early. As is normal she went right to sleep and I am still awake...
Ugh... Mowing...
I have discovered that it doesn't matter how proud you are of your new mower. It doesn't matter if it's a fancy electric mower with a 56 volt battery. It doesn't even matter if you are continually amazed and impressed with how well it takes care of tall grass.
It still ain't near as much fun to use in July as it was in April.
I have taken to mowing in ten minute shifts, then cooling down indoors for a bit. Takes a lot longer to get the yard done, but also I don't die.
You need one of those remote controlled mowers where you could sit inside or on the porch.

They make lawnmower versions of a roomba. But my yard is WAY too big. I've looked into it, with disappointment.
One last day of peace...then back to work. :pound:
Well, the last of the kiddos left today. Alex ended up having to put a new thermostat in my van. It's always something. I'm so thankful that he did it for me. I'm very grateful to have such good kids. They have been super helpful in all this stuff going on.
Monday again - that 3-day weekend was amazing. But...4 more work days after today and then I'm on PTO for a week. Mom and Dad are coming down. I'm super excited. Gotta get their room put back together after the craziness of the buggies.
We went Friday got all our bags of stuff from the storage unit. I have my closet put back together finally.
We found out Saturday? I think. That the guy who gave his two week notice has left fully now. lol at Adams job. Sooo hoping that gets things moving a bit faster for our move. Who knows guess we'll see!
Done some work today around the house. Set a bonfire and burned much brush, laughed and thought of Mel Mel and how much she would have enjoyed the towering flames. :laughhard:
Mowed the yard, worked on the apartment, then broke off of outside work in the heat and came inside to cook dinner for Lou, Chey and "He's not my boyfriend, Dad!"- but obviously is- Version 2.
The lad loved dinner or is an extremely talented liar who is skilled at the treatment of fat old dads. I find myself somewhat approving despite myself. It is extremely weird to me to see this skinny kid and actually see so many of my own traits from my teen years reflected in him. It is scary that my daughter is attracted to someone who has so many of my traits and faults. But, what will be will be..God's will.
Age old phrase that "girls marry men like their Dads" lol. I definitely did in many ways.
It's almost insane how much that old saying ends up being true.
So much about Jeremy is like my dad.
Urgg. Midnight getting in from camp meeting. I am wiped out and grumpy. Started to stay home. :pound: :laughhard:
one day we need to sneak back up your way and scare the rest of your hair off.
His driving would scare my hair off. How are we going to scare HIM?

That's what chest freezers were invented for.
Dollar store has little plastic containers, three for a dollar.
After the little portions are frozen, pop them out and slide the frozen discs in a ziplock freezer bag.
Or that's what I do at least. Sometimes I freeze up 30 little discs of deer chili.
I saw Chel today. :bigcheese:
Hi all. Sorry for not being around as much. My season of life is a busy one....despite me wanting to take an exit ramp for a few days and switch to a lower gear.
Hope all is well

Oh yeah... Uh... Don't ever try freezing scrambled eggs. Just don't.
Dina and family are flying to Rwanda for their next adventure. She said they're hitting turbulence but should land in less than an hour. I'm trying not to be sad.
:hi:
I cannot imagine globetrotting like that. I don't think I'd last very long before I'd want to run back to my country mouse life. Been busy. Chey just got back from PEAK, the big youth meeting in Tulsa. About 4500 people there they said. Some terrific messages preached from the clips I've heard.
I took advantage of chey's absence to get a bit more done on her floor. Now, grout it and trim it out and the living room will be mostly complete. I get to lay flooring in the kitchen area and do some plumbing and electrical next. Fun.
Hi. Weekend was not long enough. Got some things done though. Amazing service last night. Back to the grind tomorrow.
She said the temperature was nice and they have an avocado tree in their yard.
Chey and Lou would love that. Me, I have yet to find a use for an avocado.
They is nasty things. And yes, I hate, hate, hate guacamole.
Morning all. Back at the dungeon to fight multiple dragons today.
Trying to be positive and upbeat but it is pre-10 am and the struggle is real.

I immediately, gleefully went to her blog! LOL.. I used to read that every time she posted! I'll have to remember to check back again now and then.
@Work. I had an awful weekend. I spent the day Saturday alternately being sick and sleeping. I'm THANKFUL I was able to sleep tho!! I'm also SO thankful it's all over and I'm back to normal again. I have my root canal on Thursday and I'm so thankful my teeth have chilled out on the massive pain I was having last week. Ready to have all this taken care of and wish I hadn't put it off like I did.
My nephew is being born in the next week hopefully. Pray for momma Lian and baby Connor if you wouldn't mind. Too many stories these days of things happening to mommas and babies in delivery that shouldn't be happening these days. We're believing for a healthy, safe delivery. We're so excited to have baby Connor in our arms!
Back from PTO last week. We had a good time with Mom and Dad. Adam and I went last Tuesday to an animal encounter in Seminole OK. We got to hold/pet/feed: a monkey, donkeys, ducks, tortoises, emus, sheep, foxes, coyotes, wolves, a bobcat, baby skunk, a boa constrictor and see a serval.
The skunks, coyote, and a fox were all babies they were SO CUTE. So cuddly and fun. Wolf pack had "babies" too but those were not small LOL. It was a fun time.
Hubbs and I put an application in and got approved for a house back in Wichita Falls on Saturday also. It has a pool (pool maintenance is included in our rent) and I am SO EXCITED.
Dina messaged and said she had a bad stomach bug. Prayers appreciated.
If I had an avocado tree in my yard, during avocado season I'd never get anything done. I'd be out at the tree all the time, checking if anything is just that perfect ripeness yet.

Lord. Called in sick Friday cause I didnt wanna work. Drove 3 hours to Racine Missouri for Bro Epley's camp meeting. Back home by 2am, up at 8 to go to a funeral, then off to little rock to visit Bro Rogers who is likely days from death at best. Breaks my heart.
Back at home tired and annoyed.
Shew. Little Rock yesterday... then church today. Hard service to preach. Then off to Little Rock again to find a miracle had taken place. Rog had done a 180, to the point they ae moving him to a regular room and possibly discharging him soon. He wanted sushi, so we took him some. Chey had wanted it for her birthday as well so I surrendered. That's some nasty mess, y'all. I won't be doing that again. And wasabi is flippin' HOT. Tomorrow will be work on her apartment I think

Well, my boss came to me some time back "You need to take some sick time off, you have 960 hours" Me: "But I am not sick" Boss: " Call in, say you are taking ten hours of sick time, I will say Ten Four, feel better. No lies, no questions, no need for you to lose time you have earned, it's not fair as others take their sick time as soon as they get it" Me: "Okay"
So that's how that goes down. I don't abuse it, but I WILL occasionally do exactly what the boss has told me.
UUSEEE IT DONT LOOOOSEE IT. I always holler to people at work. About PTO etc. Lord knows every single person in any job needs it these days lol.
Dealing with moving stuff. Still waiting on the mover peoples come and pack/pick it up date.
We get keys to new house next week on 8/7. New house has a pool. SO STOKED.
Ready to get thru this move part.
It's becoming super tricky only having one car. Lordy.
I wish everyone would call it pto, when I worked at the school, it was sick days and personal days. I lost tons of sick time because I wasn't going to lie about being sick.
At my last job, they just called it paid time off and you could use it whenever.

With the state we have vacation time; sick time; holiday time; and comp time.
I'm blessed to have amazing bosses as above. Basically if I need or want off they make sure it happens. I'm the same as you- not gonna lie about being sick to take it, so when he made it work like that, it makes it easier for me to take time.
To be fair.. mental health days are sick days. It's all semantics.
This policy has been the hardest for me to move from this job. I can take whatever time I want whenever I want as long as I let them know in advance (obviously except sicknesses) and I try very hard to make sure I make things easy for my coworkers by taking off days there's full coverage otherwise. That's not always paid back to ME in kind, but at least I know I'm doing what I think is right haha. I worked corporate retail for too long with super strict policies to turn my back on all of them, haha.

My nephew was born July 24th at 12:23 am! He came a week early compared to his due date - so he's a WEEK old today! It's hard to believe he's here already. He's the cutest little guy. His parents haven't shared any photos online, so I'm not either. So you'll just have to believe me that he's one of the most handsome little boys known to the world. LOL.

Life. It be kickin'. Not in a kind way, either.
I am officially an old man. I just started my first prescription medication. Bah humbug.
So... you know how a lot of people feel like they never did really grow up? "I'm pretty sure I stopped maturing at 17 and I've been faking it ever since." I've felt like that all my life.
Is this when that changes, when you get your first prescription? Is this when you start feeling like you're really an adult?
Well, it's better to take care of things when needed. I really waited too long on my blood pressure issue. I went front NO medication to quite a bit.

Absolutely not. I've been on medicine for a year or two for BP and before that for stomach issues. I'm not the adult LOL.
Feh.
Oh well.

Only two problems.
1 - That shopping cart is full of Airheads (tm) candy.
2 - I'm probably going to die at 51 from what the Airheads spokeman will claim is "probably natural causes."
Hi. Been busy, running in to say hi. Bro Roger, having been returned to the nursing home, was insistent on returning to church so I picked him up last night- literally- and took him to church. Weak and sickly, he still requested someone bring him a tambourine so he could worship in some form. I cried and thought that someday someone would stand before God and have to face God for a lack of worship, while the image of that little man doing everything he could to let God know he still loved Him plays.
It convicted me in my worship.
Church has been a rollercoaster. Great things happening, then the wind slammed out of you by someone unwilling to listen to God and set on stirring trouble. Was told- third party of course- that a man who has came for years in the past and who returned a couple of years ago is considering another church because "there's too much drama at our church". The problem here?
His wife and her best friend literally are the cause of the drama, with a huge portion being his wife's tendency to repeat and embellish every thing she hears. SO, yeah, good luck escaping drama. All I know is I ain't bowing, I ain't slacking off, and the church will continue to be a hospital for hurting souls. They can get on board or get off, but I fought all of hell and ran for thirty years from God before surrendering and now, it'll be a real cold day at the devil's house before I walk away from His will.
Yea I agree with everyone - I've been on 2 BP meds for years now, just started one for my cholesterol (hereditary moms been on both). I'm on two medications for headaches. Several more. LOL
We got the call Friday at 5:30 that the movers will be here Thursday to pack, Friday to load, and delivery after that.
SOOO been doing all the things cus Adam is in Wichita Falls all week already... AHHH :noo: :nono:

Hoping for tomorrow to be easy too.
Its been busy here but at least I enjoyed smoked chicken for lunch. Hope yall are doing great.
It's Thursday... but feels like Monday. So glad I just have one more day this week!
Unfortunately for Tabby (our cat), her vet appointment is tomorrow. I've warned her, but she doesn't know it's coming, LOL.
Tuesday night I finally was able to secure my and my mother's flights to California for the end of the month. I'm excited but also not looking forward to the actual chaos of the airports. Being the adult and being in charge of my mom (who has flown once) while flying... eek.
I was checking for new posts yesterday but they didn't show up like usual. Today I decided to just go post something in this thread and found 2 posts that I hadn't seen. Weird.
:couch:
Tabby's vet appointment was QUICK with just her rabies shot and nail trim. I thought it was going to be a full checkup, but it wasn't. She pooped in her carrier when we got to the vet office and then threw up in the carrier on the way into the house. Jeremy had to help give her a bath because of course being in the carrier it got everywhere. So gross. Best timing of a nail trim ever. She did finally forgive us and snuggled again that night.
Had my crown appointment this morning, but they called last week to say the scans didn't work right and I had to instead use my appointment to get rescanned. Now it'll be another two weeks until I get my crown. Thankfully it IS before I leave on my California trip.
Got a mychart message from my doctor about my blood test results from a month ago. I have to go in on the 19th and discuss options about my blood sugar. Also starting a new meal delivery kit this week to try to boost us into healthier eating. Lots of changes happening.
Well. As is usual for this season of life as of late, I've not had time to turn around. Sunday, my church celebrated my birthday with a traditional "wear overalls and declare it old fashion Sunday" , which meant I got to preach in overalls. I was comfortable while preaching for once. My youth made me laugh and cry- they filled my office with ballons and attached notes from each youth on the balloons, with "what I love about my pastor:" wrote on them. One youth decalred he loved that I was a nerd like him.... which I could not dispute. One little one proclaimed that they loved that I "yelled about Jesus alot and we need to listen"- I'd always thought I was pretty low key but I guess I do yell occasionally. :laughhard:
And I got shout out from the teen girls, because they are universally in love with a brand of purses, etc named Juicy Couture. "He supports the Juicy Squad" . Chey is the ringleader and has around 30 purses, which I thought was ridiculous until she showed me where the purses she was buying for $35 and $50 were selling online and on ebay for $100-$150. Now I'm over here elbowing the local teens outta the way at TJ Maxx, yelling "I saw it FIRST". :laughhard:
I was in Burlington's the other day with Cheyenne and they had a stack of clearance items- and on top was a bunch of Juicy Couture ballcaps, bright pink and rhinestones, Yes, the fat old balding, overall wearing preacher gathered up one for each of the teen girls, aka, "juicy squad" and paid for them, thus endearing me to them forever. :hypocrite: The squeals when I gave them to them at church via Chey could be heard miles away " So cuuuuuttte!!!" :biglaugh:
I preached last night and God moved. This morning I had to get my spirit right, because my vehicle of choice wouldn't start and nothing I intended to get done got done. :pound:
I have the week off and I have a dumpster being delivered Thursday. If it aint nailed down it's liable to leave- I want clean and uncluttered.
That's funny Bobby. I don't think they make Juicy Couture anymore. Could by why they're selling for more than. Funny that Cheys generation is wanting them though. There truly is nothing new under the sun lol. What comes around goes around or something like that.
We are all moved in. I am so tired of boxes lol. I started feeling kinda bleh Sunday evening throat hurt and all, but Monday was good to go. I have the kitchen unpacked, but I need to dig out the microwave from a garage box and it's hot out there and it's not labeled that the microwave is in there, sooo idk.
But new house has a pool and we aren't paying that darned Okleehoma state tax anymore...and that makes things better at the end of the day.
That reminds me... I have a JC crossbody purse that I LOVE that I have not seen in over a year or so. I need to find that one again. I might pack it for my Cali trip.
Been trying to power through state contract paperwork for two projects with meetings the same day with a ton of the same paperwork. Same same, only different. lol.. I'll be happy for Friday when we can turn this business all in! Then I'll have to spend the next week playing catch up on everything else I had to let slide this week. Almost done tho!
Was scrolling FB marketplace last night and saw a Juicy crossbody. It was actually very cute lol. Cracked me up though.
JC purses can be super extra, but mine had a very tiny emblem - which is how I prefer all my purses. Classic and not an obvious marketing campaign, haha.
@Work.
This one had pink, yellow, and orange lemons, strawberries, and daisies lol. It was very cute.
The Shamrock people come today to uncrate our tv and hook up wash/dry. (this is a service hubbs job does for relocation).
The internet people are supposed to come again tomorrow. I need them to get with the program I need my internet. I'm running on my work hotspot and lordy the lag is awful.
:hi:
Shew. They apparently still make JC.... TJMaxx has some "exclusive" purses. Chey's tastes leans to the Daydreamer- big old tote, and she especially likes crowns and scotty dogs.
Been busy- bought cabinets for her kitchen today, and got trim up in the living room. It's a hot mess, the Amazon wallpaper was a mistake and I am not a finish carpenter, but it's ok. It's free for her so blah.
Got an electrician coming tomorrow to do some work and a dumpster coming so I can do some work.
And my shoulder is making its presence known. Therapy before church will be fun. :pound:
Chel and I ate at a Japanese food place that also serves sushi and we thought of Roscoe. We didn't order sushi. I had steak and chel had chicken with fried rice. It was yummy.
Ya'll don't like sushi? lol YUM I do!!!
The internet guy is here and we are IN BIDDNESSS.
Looooooooooooove sushi, but I'm a broken record there, LOL. I also love me some "hibachi" chicken. I say "hibachi" because I don't particularly enjoy the "show" at some restaurants. I just want the food. LOL.
Yay for movers & internet!!
yay for work done on the apartment!
I'm finally nearing the finish line for my big ole paperwork chaos that I've worked literally every single day on this week. If our subcontractors would just turn in THEIR paperwork, I could submit.
I like hibachi too. But could do w/out the show too. lol
Sometimes the sauces they give with hibachi can run right thru you REAL quick though.
Glad it's Friday!!
That's what this place is, hibachi without the show. It's good.
Hi. Been busy all week. And on top of the million things I've had to do, my sister wound up in intensive care in Little Rock, meaning I made two trips to Little Rock unplanned this week. She is improving thankfully.
The rented dumpster is nearly full; lower cabinets and cabinet tops are installed in the apartment; appointments made for the electrician to be here next week; and overall, finally some progress in the rolling freak show that is my life.
Now...I came in before dark, showered, and am going to rest some. Tomorrow is church all day; then Monday I'm going on a bit of a road trip to Boswell to spend a bit of time with Bro. Pickard, so I can get his perspective on some things. Been a long while since I've been able to see him.
Tell him I said hi.
Still here.
Nothing new to report so I haven't.
Lawd, 8-ish hours in the truck today. Home in time for bed- tomorrow, back at work.. :pound:
But... But... You LIKE that truck! I thought.
You did get around to putting AC in it, right? I hope.
Quote from: Lynx on August 19, 2025, 08:47:44 PMBut... But... You LIKE that truck! I thought.

I cheated and drove the "new" truck, which is an '18 F150. Just didn't dig out Rusty for the trip.... probably should have.
I am having trouble getting out of bed this week. Z z z I just don't wanna work. Ever.
We had an emergency trip to Dallas on Monday for hubbs good eye. Thankfully no issues. They said they think the bad eye is just causing some sensitivity to the good eye. Had my Momma praying the whole day though. She believes God touched him. I do too. :sing:
I've finally gone thru all the living room boxes. All that's left now is guest room and office. Well, and garage, but I need all the empty boxes out of garage before I'll tackle the garage.
Post thou varlets. :demand:
So glad its Friday! :sing:
Relocation guy came and picked up all my empty boxes from moving. So, now I can park in the garage. Woohoo.
House is about 90% unpacked lol. Have a few more artwork boxes to get thru but that's easy. Finally feeling somewhat like a home around here.
That's nice, Jenn. I have boxes and totes everywhere. It's been too hot to mess with a garage sale.
Posts.
Just finished getting the monthly reports from July done for our pastor. I'm hoping to pack some paperwork to do on my Cali trip from the church (copies, not originals) as well as a few things from my work so that I have plenty of options for productivity during Connor's naps. I'm hoping with two extra sets of hands in the house, my SIL can fully rest while he naps. My brother obviously had to start back to work (he's a teacher), so he will be gone during the day. I'm hoping we will have some down time for me to work on some stuff. It would DEF help me out come end of year for church paperwork and just some day-to-day peace of mind from my job if I can catch up a report.
Speaking of the Cali trip... a week from today and I'll BE there. I'm really hoping it's a smooth trip coming, going, and being there. I love my brother, but he can be a lot to handle, and I'm exhausted by the time the trip ends when I just visit in Arkansas while they're visiting.
Connor's growing well and handsome as ever. He's finally getting to where he's going to be having less doctor visits due to extra stuff they've gotta get done after birth. Hopefully we can help them transition into a routine while we are visiting. I don't tend to handle babies as little as him, but I know I've gotta get over that because he's the nephew. lol.. They just make me so nervous when they're little and can't hold their heads up. I don't want to mess up a kid. LOL.
I've got to figure out what all I'm packing this weekend. My luggage scale thing came in today. Our plan is for me and my mom to share the checked bag, but I'm taking my extra carry on size suitcase just in case we end up needing it as well. Our plan now for carry on things is for us to each have a backpack to tuck under the seat instead of having to list up luggage above people's heads. I think that would help me feel less anxious overall. I'm already fairly anxious just for keeping mom together and us getting to our gates on time with our layovers. Apparently DFW isn't a piece of cake for going to the next flight. I have about an hour between, so I'm trying to remember that not all flights are delayed/late and that an hour should be plenty of time. :)
Not looking forward to how chaotic next week at work will be. I'm hoping that since one of our project managers is gone on vacation that will cut down the chaos a bit for me. I made a list Friday before I left of things I need to get done before I leave on vacation. I did manage to mark one thing off already, but the list is the full page, LOL. One day at a time!
I also get my crown on finally Monday morning. Two week delay due to their dental scans not working the first time. Hopefully this will be my last appointment with this dental group. I'm hoping to get into a new office by November. I need to make that phone call while I'm in California to cancel my cleaning at the current group and try to get on the list for the new one.
Tabby and I are enjoying a weekend alone. Jeremy & Athena went to their recertification/competition event this weekend. They'll be home tomorrow night sometime. Then I leave next weekend for a week. When I get back, that following Wednesday, Jeremy leaves for his bear hunt in Maine for a week. Athena stays home with me at least so I will have a scary protection dog, LOL. Normally my mom would come visit during that week to keep company, but I figure we will all be tired of each other after California and need some rest at our homes. Tabby & Athena will keep me plenty busy of course. I'm more confident of keeping Athena this year. Last year was a little rough because that was our first week together without Jeremy. She's never happy the first several days while he's gone, but then she gets used to him being gone. Then all of the sudden he's home again, so it'll go quickly. I always feel guilty for her having to stay home when I go to church tho. I didn't feel right taking her into places because she isn't my service dog. We'll go drive looking for deer to make up for those times tho, haha. She LOVES barking at them.
There... that makes up for my lack of posts this last week while I ran a work marathon of paperwork. LOL.
Well. Life has been busy to say the least. :pound: My dear friend Bro Roger took a decided turn for the worse and they called the family in. Transitioned to hospice and seemingly clings to life out of simple stubbornness. HIs son lives in Louisiana, just across the state line. He has no reliable transportation and could not get up here, so Lou and I drove four hours down friday night and four hours back, getting back near 3am....the boy spent the rest of the night and half the day Saturday with Rog, before needing to go back to work. I took him back Saturday. Lord, since Friday night I've driven well over 900 miles. Slept in this morning and let my assistant take care of Sunday school. Went tonight, preached and felt like I utterly destroyed a message... but I tried.
I went home, took a shower, then couldn't shake the need to go check on Roger so I got dressed and came up. The family was grateful- they didn't want to leave him alone and everyone had to work, so I went to church and grabbed my computer and now I'm sitting next to him with the Hinsons- he is a fan as I am- playing in the background. There is a peace here.
Was a bit perturbed- one of my church members who has been missing our church alot and has been truthfully not my biggest fan had volunteered to come sit.
This same sister has apparently been going to another semi local church in an adjoining county, which accounts for her absence.
The family told me, after I showed up and she decided to go home, that they were grateful. It seems the good sister had spent a large portion of time running down women wearing shorts- keep in mind the family is NOT Pentecostal, and two ladies were WEARING shorts-and a portion of time running down MY CHUCH stating it had lots of hypocrites in it. Yes, sis, we lost one of them when you decided to attend another church this morning as evidenced by your fb post. I'm over here singing an old country song- "Thank God and Greyhound she's gone".
Lord, with "saints" sabotaging everything I'm trying to do like that, who needs a devil to oppose?!!?
Anyhow. Love all of ya hope everything is going well.
:waving:
Hi. Bro Roger slipped away at 12:53 am this morning with How Great Thou Art playing softly on the background. It was very peaceful- not struggling or gasping, he simply, quietly quit breathing. So thankful I was the one by his bedside, with him. I was most blessed of all to have him as a friend, and more honored than I can ever express to be his pastor. He came as a fulfilment of a prophecy, was a supreme encourager, a prayer warrior, a worshiper.. When I stand before God and am asked to give an account of him, I will be able to truthfully say I wish I had dozens of him in my church. I miss him already.
The past few years have hurt...Bro Wilson, Bro Robert, and now Bro Roger. Nut I am so grateful for what they each brought into my life.
I've been too tired to do much today, and am going to bed early. I've been quietly laying in bed since 430pm. Chey is cooking dinner for us too. :fork:

Yea DFW is massive and crazy. And often you get off in Term A and have to get to Term C and it's not just a skip and a hop LOL

Stop that! LOL.. I'm praying for quick and easy! I told my mom I'd rather miss a flight than run like a crazy person in that airport. haha
Roscoe, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm thankful you were able to know him and have him in your corner. What a blessing to have someone who loved you so much and whom you also loved. I'm sure your presence in his room at his passing also brought him peace as well.
I thought I'd let you all know.. I found my Juicy Couture purse last night! I can't decide if I'm taking it (it's a black purse) or if I'm taking my white and multicolored Kate Spade. They're both crossbody purses but the KS will match more things. Unsure.
haha love that you still have one Nelle.
I'm strictly a Louis Vuitton girl over here. :hypocrite:

:hi:
Well... We've been sitting in Memphis airport since around 9am. Our plane coming from DFW has been delayed multiple times first for maintenance and then weather. We still have an hour for the last updated time but according to my American Airlines app, that plane still hasn't taken off. I've already rebooked our connecting flight to LAX once. Hoping we won't have to do it again.
Shew mercy, Nell. Sounds like fun. LOL
Did a bit of work today. Got most of Bro Roger's funeral service planned... will probably off the cuff some of it. He'd appreciate that. It's going to be somewhat brief.
Go preach it tomorrow... then might head for Memphis. We are to meet some other ministers there for a meet up tomorrow and at least one of the boneheads is driving in early...so we might too, since we wont be having church due to the funeral.
Alot is gonna depend on Chey... she is running a 100 degree fever and I hate to leave her home sick alone, even if she is grown.
In news for her- she now has been hired at the same bank her mom works out, although at a different location. She loves it.
Bro Roger's funeral is behind me. Difficult to say goodbye to someone you loved but immensely easier by the knowledge of his walk with God.
Enjoyed an evening with Jerm and Kim in Memphis followed by meeting up with him and two other ministers today. Kim and Lou did their own thing and I was blessed just to be in the company of men of God of their stature.
Headed home now...
We ended up with our flights being canceled on Saturday. They automatically rebooked us for 5am Sunday morning. We were exhausted when we finally made it to LAX.
I seem to have located a knack of being able to soothe and get my nephew to sleep. He's a cutie, of course.
Sorry your trip was such a hassle, Nelle. Hopefully the baby snuggles will make it all worthwhile.
He's keeping us all hopping! He's already changed so much in his 1 month and about 2 weeks of life. Christmas will be thrilling! lol
Thursday we are going to the Ronald Reagan Library. This will be my first presidential one and I'm excited.
Man, I'm jealous. Reagan is the measure for all modern US presidents I feel.
Battled sickness via nyquil. Headed over Sunday to preach in Weird Cat's vicinity...a bit north of him. Preaching for Bro Joey Weatherford in Parker's Crossroads. I hope I have a voice....
We are gonna leave Friday and drive Rusty over via the back roads. They are having an old-fashioned Sunday and I will be- at his request- preaching in overalls. :laughhard:
That will be a combo church trip/ anniversary getaway since Lou and I celebrate 22 years Friday.
Parkers crossroad is almost in spitting distance.
Unfortunately the only thing we have to show visitors is the shiloh battlefield. This is a nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit here.
Howdy in passing, I guess.
I have a check up at the dr today. Not a fan.
At least I get to see Chel, she's coming with me.
I need to find a regular PCP here in w. Falls. i never did when i lived here before.
but i have blood pressure/cholesterol meds that are gonna need refills with a new script sooner than later. sigh.
I'm glad it's already Thursday. Adams been off all week cus he gets 5 days off for our "move". He just couldnt take them when we actually moved lol. so I've been so sleepy this week lol. My body is on a rise at 6-7/sleep 10-11p scheduled cus he is often up that early and in bed by 9pm every night. Not so much while he's been on vac. It was 2am when we crashed last night lol. zzzzzz
This time of life, everybody got health problems.
I am currently at the hospital sitting with dad. He has a sore on his foot that is from an injury incurred last september. As he is diabetic, it has not healed and now he's going to have to get his foot cut off.
Tomorrow.
Oh no! I'm sorry Isaac.

Ouch. That is terrible.
Praying for him.
We are pretty much packed....Rusty washed... roadtrip ready tomorrow!
Glad it's Friday. :sing:
But all the weird weather starts today. It's very gloomy outside at the moment.
Temps are supposed to drop. Sunday our high is only 79!!
Rusty performed in fine fashion all the way. All 350 miles. Some backroads...some interstate, with a ton of admirers. Everywhere we stopped he was the center of attention. Even when a "tv star" Hazen Arkansas Chief Bradly Taylor of "LivePD" fame pulled up behind us at the gas station. Brad didn't get near the picture requests that Rusty did.
I had worked with him on a couple of cases in the past, so I knew of him and his taste of fame. He's become a bit of a tiktok celebrity I guess..
We have made it to Parker's Crossroads, where our host pastor took us out to a delicious dinner and has put us up in a very nice Hampton Inn. My friend is spoiling me, and I pray I can deliver the Word Sunday adequately and someone gets what they need... I have a burden for the message I have to preach.
Shew. Just got in. Thought about Lynx when we were in his town, but didn't want to bother him knowing he was dealing with his father's illness. But brother you were in our thoughts. BTW, there is a little backwoods restaurant just east of Adamsville called "Earl's".... Dude, I WILL be back. Decor was old car/garage and food was automotive theme'd name...and was amazing.
My friends, The Weatherford's, were our hosts (Poplar Corner Pentecostal Church). They made us feel like royalty. I was scared I wouldn't have a voice to preach as I have been struggling with it thanks to the crud. I drank half a bear-shaped bottle of honey and half a bottle of lemon juice, mixed together and heated, to try to fix the issue. IT semi-worked. I made it through the message, but definitely wasn't in my best form. Awesome spirit of God there and people in the altars.
After a nice potluck meal and conversation with many of the elders- one was a ham radio nut too= we finally broke away. Rusty was a huge hit and was background for many of their old fashioned day pictures. I hit the interstate and did something I rarely do in Rusty. I ticked it up to 75mph and came home. He did great, and if the gas gauge is believed, got over 20mpg doing so.
We finally home tonight.... and Daisy is very pleased Dad is back.
I've been at the hospital in Corinth all weekend anyway.
Hospital food in the south is... Southern. They give Dad a diabetic meal that has potatoes in it. Really? Also a southern yeast roll.
Breakfast is standard for the south. Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits. The biscuits came from a freezer. I know this is the south, but are we trying to drum up business for the new cardiac wing? "Here, hope you enjoy it. See you soon..."
I was also wondering about how things were going. Hope he's doing ok.
I've come to the conclusion Isaac that nobody caters to the necessary food requirements in hospitals or LTC facilities anymore. They either don't care, or don't have the staff to fund it.
I follow a lady on Threads, who has kidney issues plus diabetes so she cant eat any type of tomato based anything cus of the acidity, and they are constantly bringing her food she cant even eat. It breaks my heard that these elderly people in homes half of them don't even get fed a proper meal.
Hubbs and I discussed it and we won't put either of my parents or his grandma or his Dad in a home. Ever.
Monday again - sigh. lol :noo:
Y'all know Ben and Dina are in Rwanda. Ben has malaria and something else going on. Prayers appreciated.
Ohh goodness Sandra. :'( Sending prayers!!
Made it home to Arkansas on Saturday evening. Stayed for church Sunday AM then headed home last night to Illinois. The cat didn't come talk to me for 45 minutes, but then wouldn't leave me alone. LOL. It was like having my nephew beside me in the crib again hahaha.
Ugh. Another work day down. Voice still out to lunch. Bah. :pound: :pound:
Maybe that's what you need. Lunch. Maybe your larynx is on strike until it sees some food go past it.
Or maybe it's looking for something else. Try sending a mocha down. :freaky2:
I'm putting chai down mine and it's helping lol. :goodmod:
I selected hot caramel cappuccino for mine. Taste buds definitely enjoy it.
Now I'm hungry, so I'm trying to figure out what to eat.
:waving:
Spent a large portion of the day plumbing and hanging cabinets. Made progress, but lord, still more to do. Did enjoy the Harley on one of my three trips to the hardware store. No matter if you take a list or not you are always going to deal with needing something else.
Two of the "elbows" that were installed years ago when Dad lived in the apartment I thought would be serviceable. Got the rest of the plumbing put together- two leaks. Both of the elbows I left. :pound: So Monday, I shall redo them. Edging closer to a stopping point for a bit, Thank God.
Just got home from visiting Alex.
Getting reallll tarrrred (tired in a country accent), of Monday's rolling around so quick. :pound:
Been having super weird nausea in the morning the last 3 days, getting up out of bed and starting to move helps. Which is odd. Sooo who knows, seeing Dr tomorrow afternoon.
Nausea? Morning? .... :o Future bottle feeding, sleepless nights and dirty nappies??..... :freaky2:
Btw, Jenn and Nell- I told Chey that ya'll had been "Juicey Couture" girls in the 2000s. Now she is HOUNDNING me to find out "Do they have ANY vintage purses I can buy?!? And especially are there and "Scotty Dog" purses?!!?"
She is OBSESSED with Vintage Juicey... :laughhard:
So. Got A/C at church fixed, 95% of my plumbing done. Work tomorrow. Bah.
LOL. I only have the one. I can send her a picture but I don't think it'd be considered vintage, haha. I'm also not sure how I feel about 2000s being considered vintage, LOL. But my purse is just a crossbody and it's black with a little gold JC logo I think. It seems pretty basic compared to what she seems to have liked, haha.
@Work. Starving waiting on my boiled eggs to cool off some so I can eat one. Sipping on my caramel cappuccino in the meantime.
Jeremy managed to get a bear yesterday, so he's done hunting but he's not coming home until Saturday still. He has to cheer on his other veteran hunter. Hopefully another bear is down soon haha. Interesting! Best "bear down" message I've seen... definitely infinitely better than those Chicago ones, haha.
The main difference between bear and deer is, a wounded deer will just try to run.
And yeah, no, that's not vintage! The people who were teenagers when it came around the first time have to be at least in their 70s before it can be considered vintage.

haha def. not that. we are very strictly anti-children. My husband has von hippel-lindau (VHL) and it's a "rare, inherited genetic disorder that predisposes individuals to the development of multiple benign and malignant tumors in various organs". He only has like 1/4 of his adrenal glands, he's had brain surgery to remove tumors, he's blind in one eye from tumors, he has a tumor IN his good eye but it's not bothering anything but it's too risky for surgery.... So he's always been very anti-kid cus he doesn't wanna pass on the VHL gene. And I have never really wanted kids and the older I get the more I confirm that. lol
Give us all the animals and we'll be happy. :great:

Yeah, that's about the same reason I never have wanted kids. I mean... not inherited genetic problems, but... I never have been excited enough about myself to think that I should put another me out there.
Aaaaaand I have a cold. Quite a mild one. But still enough that I don't want to go visit dad in rehab for a while. That rehab place got enough elderly people to be a nursing home.
I'm just glad this didn't happen last week or the week before, when dad was in the hospital. If I couldn't go visit him then, it woulda half killed me.
It's hard parenting your parents. My mom was all confused the last couple days. Thankfully my sister lives with her.
Thursday already. Anyone else mad at how fast time is moving? lol
:argue:
Personally glad this week is progressing quickly so Jeremy can be home to handle this dog instead of me handling her, LOL. I love her... but.. I feel like I'm watching a newborn. LOL.
Listening to a webinar for new state legislation changes to our paperwork for our projects here at work. I love how every day it seems they have a group thinking of new ways to make my job more complicated and tedious. I get that sometimes things protect groups of people - but let's think the process through and make it user friendly instead of just thinking about the law parameters. Ugh. This host sounds like dry eye commercial guy - if you remember his dry voice. LOL.
So my brother and his family are trying to move to Arkansas. He had another interview this morning and they offered him the job. And he has an in-person interview with another one tomorrow.
Annndd once they move...then my parents will follow lol
6.5 hours is SO MUCH more manageable than 11-12 1/2. GLORAAY
That's awesome, Jenn.
Welppp brother got a second offer from the interview he had in person this morning. YAY now they just have to sell their house in Indiana. But it's been on market for a week and they've had several viewings. His new job is in Little Rock Bobby lol.
Next up - Mom, Dad, Grams, and Gramps! lol
Hi.
Jenn, I could've sworn I had posted asking where...but no where can I find said post. At least you answered anyway. LOL.
Just 60 miles from us. :sadbounce:
Guys, I have been in a whole new level of hell the last few days. My shoulder is really jacked, so they prescribed an MRI, with contrast. So Friday, I got to experience that. I will die before it happens again. That needle was a foot long and when put in my shoulder joint, it was a level of pain I have NEVER experienced. And, then the MRI machine was small, and my shoulders are so wide- nothing to do with being fat according to the tech, I just have broad shoulders- the ONLY way I fit was to place my "good", not really but not as bad, arm over my head and lay in this tube with it touching every part of my body for 30 minutes.
I have hurt ever since to the point that I can barely use the arm. Couldn't put a block of cheese onto the top refrigerator shelf. And that's literal- I tried and had to have Lou put it up.
I go the 3rd to get the results. I fully expect surgery. I'm hurting any way I go- so if I can get it fixed, I'll push through the pain. Until then, I guess I suffer and work.
Because of that incident, Saturday- I never left the house. Sunday- church. Today, left the house to get groceries, finished chey's plumbing and got her bathroom operational, just lacking a water heater for now. That put me back into a ton of pain, so I put a pot roast on for dinner and sat down. From there- I've made it to the bedroom, took more ibuprofen and am going to crash soon... getting older is not for weaklings, and apparently, I am overachieving by hitting milestones early.:pound:

Well I said wrong city anyway LOL - his new job is in Malvern... and they're going to try for a private school for the kids in Benton.
and how did you jack up your shoulder in the first place? That sounds awful.
Malvern is sweet. My family lives near there in Butterfield.
Bobby I was right there with you, nodding sypathetically and the whole bit... Right up until you got to the part about finishing up the plumbing.
NOOOOO! This is your golden chance to be a worthless slug and nobody will blame you for it!
Have I taught you nothing?

Worthless slug means work don't get done. I needed it fixed. LOL
Jenn the ONLY thing I can think of, about 23 years and 80 lbs ago, I was young, in shape and invincible. I arrested a 6' 3", 180 lb dude. He objected to my intentions and it was on like a Chihuahua and a Great Dane fighting. The Chi won and the Great Dane went to the pound that night, but.... the shoulder was popped out. I popped it back in, hey it's good, no issues. Now all these years later it started giving me major issues.
Not sure it the fight was the reason or if I just wore the shoulder out. I haven't exactly been easy on my body- lotsa metaphorical dirt roads and bad decisions.
Malvern- I have a friend, Gary Ryan that pastors around there... nice place. And Benton- another close friend pastors there, so they have good churches in the area for sure.
Now I am curious about something I will never find out.
If the great dane of a man found out today that his actions back then are causing you so much ongoing trouble, would he be gratified or contrite? Some people get older and wiser, but some people just get older.

My brothers childhood best friend lives in Pearcy and he's already told my bro there are lots of good churches around there. He's so excited for my brother to be close by.
Unfortunately the body never forgets LOL sorry sir that sounds rough when it aches.
It's sooo gloomy outside right now. Making me very sleepy. Hubbs Grandma is coming to town to see her aunt nearby. So she wants to take Adam to lunch. I have a call at 12 and one at 1. soooo no go for me i reckon. hoping she doesnt hit rain/weather on her way here, or when she's here. :noo:
Pearcy..... Bro Will Culberson, I believe with Bro Anderson the bishop. Great people, great church from all accounts. We literally just got a sister transfer to our church having moved up here from Pearcy.
Finished bible study tonight. Dragging. Hurting. Oh well..
Go check in on the "who's left" thread that Scott started.
Did. Not sure why Scott asks about shutting it down when he comes in. I've offered and so has Germ- and we have sent Jerry funds for it in the past ( He did NOT ASK, we offered) and will continue to do so... anytime I am made aware of it being renewed or needed. The history and posts/communication of past posters and friend some of whom have passed away are where the value is for me. That and keeping track of y'all still here.
Who knows Bobby lol.
Happy Friday. I have -45% desire to do any work today.
Hubbs got to work successfully this morning but went to bank and on way back from bank his truck died in the middle of the road. Sigh. :pound: if it's not one thing it's another.
That's the way it be most of the time, Jenn. Today was long. I was over it long before I could escape. Came home and did nothing more than change a light bulb. Gonna snooze a bit, get up early and walk through the fall swap meet, then come home and hopefully clean up some stuff if my arm isnt hurting too much
My friend from school's mom started having some problems not even two weeks ago. Turns out she had a mass on her brain. Her funeral is today. She went from active to just gone in less than 2 weeks.
This year has not gone as expected.
Last night I picked up a bushel of jalapeno peppers at auction for 15 bucks.
I'm allergic to pain myself. But I know a lot of people who enjoy pain, I mean spicy food. So I've been handing out a lot of plastic bags this morning.
Fuzz, I'm sorry to hear that. I have a friend, Deputy Sheriff I've worked with for over 15 years. His 23-year-old married daughter had a migraine and went to the hospital two weeks ago, on a Monday. They did an MRI, found a mass, operated emergency Tuesday. She never woke up and they buried her a week after the E.R. visit. Never a sign or a clue until the migraine.
I've been in much pain with the shoulder. I know I'm whining, but lately it's about all I can think of. :pound:
I did get a water leak fixed yesterday that has been leaking for some time, but I had to humble myself to do it. I dug about a 1-foot square hole down to the water line...and was hurting so bad I was crying. I swallowed my pride and called my kid brother to help me. It got done, but I felt like an old decrepiit man. Chaffing because I KNEW how to fix it- but could NOT do it myself. If old age is like this the next 25 years will be rough. :pound:
This Monday at work as Monday'd hard. I'm over it. :pound:
Well today was my monday. And it monday'd. Tomorrow is work/church day. ...I'm honestly looking forward to the weekend... I go Friday for the dr to read the MRI. Then got a bit to do around the house. Took the Harley to the shop so the guy can fix an oil leak. If there IS a surgery in my future it and I will not enjoy each other's company for the next several months.
:ugly:
Jeremy & Athena went back up to WI for the last half of the week and the weekend to help out with the police K9 recert competition plus he gets to hang out with his friends. So me and Tabby are holding down the fort. Church tonight.
Tomorrow I'm getting the sensors replaced on my tires and an oil change after work - so I'll finally be able to monitor my air pressure again.

Y'know there's this little metal stick you can get...
Sorry. I'm old fashioned. I know.
It's WAY cheaper though...

True... but this is a built-in feature my car came with and the sensor batteries die after about 6 years, haha. I'd rather the car easily monitor it for me and let me know immediately than I have to physically check my car every day. I get one sensor changed out for free! Plus I need an oil change anyway. I'm also hoping they can check out my speaker on my door or refer me to a good audio place. They'll all be a little sad when I walk in without the dog today tho.
:hi: Bck from Doctor. MRI showed that I have a complete rotator cuff tear along with at least four detached ligaments. In other words, I had reason to be in pain.
Surgery scheduled for October the 17th.... he said 6 weeks in a sling, extensive PT, and at least three months off of work. I shall lose my mind....

Ouch!
Bobby?
Forced to be IDLE?!
The world shall end.
Hmm... Now is a good time to look up all the shows that you want to start watching after the 17th. You gonna need them. Start preparing now.
No show too big, no show too small, not when you're forced to do nothing for THREE MONTHS. Anything is fair game from Gray's Anatomy to the X Files to Ducktales. Maybe a Godzilla marathon. Or watch every attempt at remaking Spider Man. How many are there now, 25?
