Quick, someone come and officiate our vows!
Roscoe can do it, can't he? He's a justice of the peace.
ROOOOOSSSSCOOOOE!!!
Can you officiate your own wedding?
Where are all the preacher fellers when you need them?

Yes, you can. I actually know someone who did. Mainly because they really shouldn't have been getting married in the first place, and the preacher they asked to marry them refused. Loveliness, eh?

If everyone would say a prayer for me tonight. I've had a migraine for the past 6 hrs that won't let me sleep or eat. I'm gonna try to make it through the night to avoid an ER bill.
Prayers to you Heather
:headrub: Heather. Hurry and get better so you can attend another GP wedding! ;)
Glad to make you laugh, Rubes...but I assure you...we are not joking.
Thanks guys... You have made me laugh.

:beret:
Goodnight my friends.
Brandon has been keeping me in cold wash clothes for my forehead. Lessens the pain a bit plus cools me down. I've had a fever off and on all day.
:( Sorry, girlie. I hope you are WAY better by tomorrow morning.
I'm awake. Took dad to Dialysis, I'm fixing to head into WM now. I was gonna go last night, but didn't.
Funeral today. Supposed to be a BIG one. Lots of big name preachers and stuff gonna be at our church. This man of God was really a great man and well respected, so we are expecting a huge turnout.
His son and daughter in law runs the funeral home that Dad (and I) work for. Lol
Morning, all.. It is my Friday! Gonna try to get some around the house chores done this weekend- I'm WAY behind. Oh, and I received two wonderful Christmas Cards in the mail yesterday that made my day! That is all. :waving:
On second thought there is one more thing- To Mel, the new bride- :great: :thumbsup2: :great: :thumbsup2: :hypocrite: :P
I need to go to the post office. I may have a card or two...ppl been asking me for my address...both here and non-GP friends.
I gotta mail a card and a package today anyway. Two different parts of the US. :)
And Roscoe... :pound:

This is no way to spend your honeymoon.
Finally fell asleep around midnight. As soon as I sat upright though this morning it's right back to pounding. Driving myself to urgent care was interesting. Sitting in the waiting room now.

GET MOVING!

Hoping to get some good news today. We'll see how it goes.
Starting a diet today. Well, "lifestyle change". Same thing :p
Crashed early last night. Dreamed like a nutbox.
It's cold out.

Start a reality TV show.
Take care of the child?
Nahhhhh ;)
I have a severely impacted sinus's which have triggered migraines. I'm now home with antibiotics [which make me sicker and not want to eat], steroids [which make me want to eat and drink everything], nausea meds [which will make me sleep], and migraine meds [which i've never had before but have been told i need to take and lay down within 5-10 minutes.
So I'm out of work til Monday and spent what little was left of my paycheck at the doctor and on prescriptions. :-\ But I just want to feel better. I feel like my head is an 18 lb bowling ball with someone trying to chisel away at my right temple. I'm going to eat my last meal then med up

Heather I strongly recommend taking a probiotic with the antibiotic. That will help offset the ill feeling you get when taking it, as well as prevent any other infections that could take place.

No I meant at the same time. lol the dr's recommend it usually. To take a probiotic with an antibiotic because some antibiotics can make you very sick to your stomach.
My SIL is a prime example of someone who DIDNT take one with her antibiotics and she's very small/skinny. It really messed with her. She got an infection after the initial one because the antibiotics tore her up.

That is so interesting cause antibiotics do not discriminate, they kill probiotics. I've only ever read and heard to alternate them for your body to absorb, for less chance to be wiped out when taking the antibiotic dose. But then again I don't have a conventional Dr., she's Holistic. I've even read to wait to take them after being done with the antibiotics to ensure they aren't killed.
Whichever way, one thing is certain: Antibiotics kill all bacteria, including the good that boosts your immune system so not taking probiotics leaves one that much more vulnerable to sicknesses after taking antibiotics. My SIL has had strep like 40x in her life, and everything else. It's so ridiculous. She hasn't taken care of her body and now is becoming resistant to antibiotics, which makes her getting sick that much more intense. It's crazy. But she never knew what we just discussed.
Not to scare Heather, but...some girls at work were talking about antibiotics yesterday. They were saying if you don't take all the doses you can have a heart attack, etc. :o
That's what I mean - antibiotics KILL the probiotics. So your body needs them. Taking probiotics increases the probiotics to help offset the ones that the antibiotics are killing. lol

I dunno about that. Seems like speculation. There are SO many different types of antibiotics. They all prevent at different levels. Which also means different side effects as well I'm sure.

Have you read about eating Paleo? I know several people now that do and one I know has lost weight but it's not a no-meat way. I eventually would like to eat all Paleo.
Yea all my clothes are falling off...lol some of them quiet literally. I can't go down a size just yet though. Still trying though. Oh and it's def. a bridge....I want to lose about 50 more lbs.

Ate salad?
The funeral was amazing! But LONG! We had over 350 people at the funeral on the last count! Folding chairs in every available space, and still people stood in the foyer! I saw more preachers tonight in a 3 hour time period than is on the payroll on TBN! This man that died was an awesome man of God. I'm sorry I didn't know him better than I did. He was a war veteran, fought in Korea, also held lots of offices with the UPC. Pastored like 6 churches, and built one.
Granny and I served the food, and then had to stand upstairs on the balcony cause all the folding chairs in the house were taken too. We had people everywhere!
We fed the family before the funeral. We weren't supposed to, but they brought food and as usual, it was just Granny and I who served it. So I've been on my feet, in my church shoes from 2pm-9pm. Holy cow.
MY
FEET
HURT!!
I'm going to bed. But I am happy. Heaven gained an awesome solider of the cross, and tonight we celebrated his promotion.

I'll rub your feet if you'll pat my bottom.

:cloud9:
MelodyB: Yeah, I know the feeling. If my pastor ever dies we'll probably have to rent the school gym for the funeral. EVERYONE in town knows him and likes him, and an almost disturbing number of churches in TN know him.
About having a heart attack because you stopped taking antibiotics... huh? That's a side effect of stopping some medications abruptly, but I don't think it's possible with antibiotics. Someone's just talking through his hat I think.
In local news: JOY TO THE WORLD!!!
The official word was given, the notice was posted on the bulletin board above the time clock, it is now set in stone - we are getting 2.5 weeks off for Christmas, due to low business.
The good part is, it starts the week BEFORE Christmas! :D :D :D I was afraid it would start the week OF Christmas, and we would have a long time to wait during January when nobody is doing much of anything. Our last day is Friday, December 14th (half day, but paid for a whole day) and we come back January 2nd.
So I'll be off the whole week before Christmas, when a lot of people are doing a lot of stuff that I want to be part of!
And I still don't see why people are grumbling so much about "so much time off with no pay." We get 4.5 days vacation pay (Christmas Eve, Christmas, half day's pay for December 26th, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) and we get a half day's pay for nothing on the last day before this long vacation. That's a solid week of vacation pay.
And people STILL complain!
Maybe it would do some people good to go work at a certain fast food factory for a year or two. Give them a little perspective.
I think everyone should have to work some sort of customer service. Whether fast food, grocery store, department store, pharmacy, etc. Something where your only job is dealing with people. I know not everyone would change but I feel like a good amount of peoples attitudes would change.
I still want to eat everything in sight but the antibiotics are starting to kick in to make my belly upset. I have anti-nausea meds but one of their main side affects are headaches. I just got rid of mine thank you but no.
I feel much better this morning. Thank you Jesus!
Don't have to get up right now though, so I'm gonna lay back down. :)
Oh, and I have page number 2 on repeat in my head since I awoke.
Can anyone, besides Seth, name what song that is without looking? ;)
:sing: Oh I want to see Him, Look upon His Face! There to sing forever of His saving grace...
One of the few I remember!
...on the streets of glory let me lift my voice, cares all past home at last ever to rejoice.
Love that song!!!
I hope we get that snow they are talking! Looks like a wintery mix, but I want all snow!!!!
Morning. TGIF :hi:
You can have the snow! I'll give you what we might get too.
Last day of work this week
Oooohhh juicy stuff last night around these parts. Cops called, babies crying, but no one went to jail.
Yep. That was the song.
In other news, I just knocked my clip lamp off the cabinet above my bed and it landed on my forehead.
Now I have a headache and a large bump. I thought it was bleeding for a few mins, but it's not. My head sure is throbbing though.
What an idiot. *sigh*
Just found out some information that makes me VERY happy because now it can be explained away:)
Today's a good day.
Trying to figure out how to make myself study for the test I have next Friday. It's sooooooo boring but I think I can do it today.
I seriously wish this stupid dog would get hit by a truck.
I hate him.
This morning when I got up (with a song in my heart) there was poop in the bathroom again. I avoided stepping in it, and I informed mom. I walk back thru the kitchen, and noticed that there is a pile of liquid poop (and bloody) on the rug. I narrowly missed stepping in that one. So I went back to bed. I get up and go to the bathroom just now, and there is MORE poop on the rug in front of the toliet, and a pile in front of the door on the carpet in mom and dads bedroom. I inform mom again, an she said "I can't clean it up, I can't bend over.
I REFUSE TO CLEAN THIS MESS UP FOR THIS STUPID DOG!
I won't. I won't I won't I won't.
I JUST washed all the rugs Wednesday, and that dog has messed all four of them in this whole apartment. They dont even belong to us! This is all the church property. And mom just lays in the bed. I can hear her snore as I type this.
This dog is sick. He's prolly got internal bleeding cause there is blood in his stool, and yet she just lays there and sleeps her life away EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
Let the dog die. I don't care. I'm tired of him. I hate him anyway.
/rant
I need to take a shower. But of course that would involve going into that poop smeared bathroom, and I can't till mom decides to get up and take care of it.
I would also like to eat. But the kitchen smells like poop. She has to clean that up too.
So here I'll sit. Wasting the day.
*wonders how much a plane ticket is from MS to MO*
*leaves HUGS for Mel*
Lord.
What a sight.
And as I have said at other times, I actually don't know as many page numbers in the Sing Unto the Lord book because we had Pentecostal Praises when I was growing up.
And having to work in customer service just makes you hate the world. lol :P
Oh, and if I died, they could probably hold my funeral in a broom closet.
I woke mom up again and she finally cleaned up the mess in the bathroom. I wonder how long it will take her to clean up the mess in the kitchen.
I hate this dog.
My head hurts. I need a vacation.
I text Kimber and told her that I am gonna need bail money this evening cause today has started so badly that I may go postal and need someone to bail me out of jail.
I'm sorry for my attitude this morning.
Just leave the door open to outside and maybe he'll run away again.

I need to get rid of this puppy chow chex mix and chips today. Starting tomorrow, it's a whole new me.
Gonna have my last supper for lunch today. Eating all the stuff I'll miss.
Got my shower. Then I'll take out the garbage. Then I don't know what. But I'm at least showered and ready in case something comes up.
PF...I actually been thinking about leaving the gate open today. No joke. It won't be my fault if he leaves of his own will. Mom will be the one letting him out...if he leaves the yard...not my problem.
She blamed the at&t guy last time. It could be his fault again.
Do it! Do it!
It was not a good idea to eat lemon-cool-whip cookies that are covered in powdered sugar while wearing black....ha
If I do leave the gate open and he escapes, I will have to delete these posts to hide the evidence.
Does the dog count as trash? And I have headache meds if you need some!
Made my only adventure out of the house today to CVS for some probiotics. Of course Brandon chose to drive the curviest road to drive home on. I feel woosey again already. UGH!!
See, I TOLD you that YOU are the criminal mind in the crowd, Poopsie!

Think I'm gonna save the food for my mom's house. I've been trying to nibble on everything all morning but I'm not gonna be able to do it.

I got some sports tickets for December...but now I'm rethinking it. The team we're playing is actually doing pretty good :smirk2: Oh well. It'll still be an experience.
After two nights of sleeping in a different part of the house, on something that is not an air mattress, I finally got a good night's sleep on a real air mattress in my darkened room where the sun can't wake me up. I feel much better now. :)
Why didn't you sleep in other parts of the house?
*** did
Because besides the air mattress there is no bed in my bedroom. If I did not sleep in other rooms, I would be sleeping on the floor. Or on my swivel chair.
First night, I tried sleeping on the couch. Second night I tried sleeping on the bed in the guest bedroom. Both were not my air mattress and both were in rooms where the sun woke me up. Mean ole sun!

Oh, and I have page number 2 on repeat in my head since I awoke.
Can anyone, besides Seth, name what song that is without looking? ;)
Of course I can. I'm amazing like that.
Mel dearie, I think a GPer or two who live somewhat closer to you than I do should volunteer to come kidnap said stupid dog and "dispose" of him for you when you're *ahem* not looking. That way, you know nothing, and your mom can think whatever she likes.
Isaac, I know exactly what you're saying about the time off off without pay thing. Been there, thought that. But........... now that I'm trying to stretch a budget for a family of four (soon to be five) I'm realizing more and more how just a few days without pay can be a HUGE thing for some families. *shrug* I think it really depends on where you're at in life at the moment. Maybe. But I still don't see the point in grumbling and complaining about it. :)
A local coffee shop has some sort of "sponsor" for this morning, and all coffee drinks between 10 and noon are free. I asked hubby to take me on a date. And let someone else pay the bill for once. I don't THINK my boys will kill each other if we disappear for an hour...................... *lol*
:beret:
Due to my illness [which cost me around $70 even with insurance] and the fact I missed 3 days of work this week. I don't even want to think what my paycheck will be.......and right before Christmas too. Luckily I bought part of Brandon's already.
I've decided this sunday to attend the 'sister church' to the one I was going to where my ex now is. Bro and Sis Moore started a home missions church about 40 minutes away up in Damascus VA. They were actually the ones to do my first bible study and also prayed me through  I was looking on Google maps and it's literally only going to be 10 minutes more to get there than go the other way to my old church. The joys of living in the middle of the country....
Also Mel....I can take care of that dog for you when i make it down there :dead2:

^^ I agree. There have been times, heck even to a degree, now is one of them, that a couple of days' loss of pay could be the difference in lights, water, gas- or not. Right now isn't quiet THAT bad for us, but it ain't that far off either, just like many of you here....

Yes, I understand how a few day's pay can make the difference in bills. I just don't understand why they keep grumbling about the company. I know for a fact most of them have worked at other places. One would think they would be aware of how good they have it, even with low business at this time.

Speaking of eating half a cow though, I'm reminded of a line from Carl Hurley, a pretty good comedian. He's a short little, fat little man, and he gets a lot of humor out of it. He said he's going on the Atkins diet... not Dr. Atkins, Sam Atkins, his neighbor. Old Sam will eat anything.
He said Sam told him his doctor put him on a liquid diet - he could have anything that came out of a blender. He said last night he drank two chickens and a pot roast. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Some people just like to grumble. My place of work doesn't ask you to do ANY physical labor,it's rare for you to have to take official action, the chief has been known to personally work for you so you can take off if necessary, and the pay is some of the highest in the state for my field of work. And yet I have a large amount of colleagues complaining nonstop. They were twisted off a few months ago because the boss decreed they walk the building three times an eight hour shift instead of two. Five floors- it takes thirty minutes to walk IF you shake every door. Stupid people. If they had to work the streets like I did, they'd be thankful. But the majority haven't....

So far this week has been rather hectic on my end of the furnace. I've been running flat-out just to keep up. When you're catching parts off the furnace line it's either crazy or boring, rarely a nice steady pace.
It's still easier than it was working at a certain fast food factory though, and with much better pay. But that job you described sure sounds good.

Two dr visits at $15 each, 3 prescriptions at $7.50 each, two vitamins at $8, a vitamin b12 shot (not sure how much yet just got it today) blood and urine tests at lord knows how much (prob around $100) plus visits again in 5 weeks for new blood/urine tests then another vist the week after for follow-up for said tests.

It's about 40 minutes away and a rather gentle, shaded hike. I'm excited. I've never been. Speaking of donuts, it must be a night shift thing. My hubby really never has an urge for a donut but he worked third shift last night and on the way home this morning he was having a no donut yes donut conversation with himself. LOL

Picked some turnips. Have a pot a cooking presently.
I had better do something productive today. I would like to just hang out at home. Ironic since I'm home ALL WEEK and practically desperate for something different to do... lol Nathan already left for work this morning; Andrew and I had breakfast together. That was pretty neat. We don't get much time alone. He's getting so big, you guys! Makes me teary and happy at the same time. The little chunky mumchkin in a sleeper I'd rock to sleep is a tall skinny young man.
Hannah went to her first sleepover last night. First time away from us other than church camp. A few yrs ago she had a sleepover at our house and it was not a good experience. I have been leery of sleepovers ever since thinking that she just may never go/have one ever again. But this mama is a very protective mama also and her daughter spent the night a month or so ago and it was a wonderful experience! It's really a blessing to have trustworthy families around us.
Now I gotta get my backside in gear and clean the church. God's got great things in store at church tomorrow!
Gross! To the dr pepper thing and turnips! Lol
:waving: @chellebelle
Howdy y'all. I am once more conscious, coherent and cogent. It rained heavily here all morning, which is a good atmosphere for taking long naps, which I did.
We (my church family) have been cooking food for a hunt club meeting again, so if anyone wants to know where I am today, that's where I'll be.
How do you cook turnips, Seth?
I'm trying to remember if I've ever made them. I think I've made rutabagas and beets. We weren't crazy about either.
Generally boil them, or fry them like taters.
I'm boiling a pot presently.
They're very similar to a rutabaga really.
Hmm... perhaps I should try them. Do you make them like mashed potatoes?
We love the greens! An some of the roots. Boil em down with a nice meaty hambone and fix ya some cornbread and onion...whew doggie! Good eatin!
And beans, don't forget the white beans with that.
Actually they all go well in the same bowl, all mixed together - beans, greens and cornbread. But we won't make fun of you if you eat them in separate piles on a plate, like a yankee... :hypocrite:
I'm back from my adventure out into the world today! It was absolutely lovely. Also it takes roughly 30 minutes to get to the church. Plus I realized that I can get up to Abingdon [VA] alot quicker than I can even get into my town [in TN] to work. We have a TN address but literally live within a mile-ish of the state line.
But now I'm pooped. Think I'm gonna make a cake while Brandon goes to pick up his dad who is coming home a day early. Which I don't blame him. I couldn't spend that much time with Brandon's mom either

I think you could, but never have done that. Just cook em tender and eat em. I put more water in mine than I needed to this time. I put some butter in them from the start too. You can season them however you want to, I didn't put anything else in them. I don't use much salt on stuff I eat.
Fixing to go eat them and some Italian turkey sausage in stewed tomatoes that I fixed too. :smirk2:
Cornbread with the turnips would be ideal, but I don't eat much bread stuff so I skip that.
I'm with Chelle, turnips aren't my thing.
*HUG* PF and Chel!!!
I'm really trying not to have a bad attitude about my family situation, but boy are they making it hard. My mom and I have been in contact off and on the last couple weeks. Mostly through text and random phone calls. I haven't spoken to my dad or my sister since Thanksgiving. But I learned that my parents are now going to pay for my sister to have plastic surgery. Seriously? You refuse to feed me when I live in your house, assist me move, or even let me borrow money when my car breaks down but you are going to pay for major surgery?!?!?! I understand it's "medically needed" but come on! [My sister is incredibly 'well endowed' which causes some slight asthma issues and something to do with her horrible posture - which is mostly her being lazy and not standing/sitting straight. So she is going in for a reduction] But they pay for her cell phone, her insurance, her school, most of her groceries. I was her age and pretty told 'good luck' with anything. Just UGH!!!!

I really enjoyed church this morning. Everyone was very welcoming. I'll be going back again tonight. It's not a big church. Maybe 25-30 people and ALOT of kids. But I really liked it.

alright after looking up all the side effects of the antibiotic i'm on i'm going off of it. i'm having all the severe side effects and it's not fun.
Heather, you're having an allergic reaction to something! Better call the doctor, it might be one of your meds! If it's the antibiotic they can switch it. I've had that happen to me before. I say this cause I care. I'm so sorry you have to itch like that. No fun at all. I'll pray for you that it goes away.
At least "severe" is itching. For some medications "severe" is a lot more severe.
So what do you take now? Or do you just let the infection run its course?
Alex can't take bactrin. I think that's how it's spelled, it makes him break out. The dr gave him Zyrtec or something when it happened.. You might could take Benadryl.
What antibiotic was it?
As long as Benadryl doesn't make you feel like you are dying, like it does me. :smirk2:

Brown sugar wild wings with Roasted red pepper sauce

I had such a great time. Did my heart good.
Also, our missionaries, the Cantrells were home for a few weeks. I just wanted to hug them and visit with them forever. Sis. Cantrell taught the S.S. hour and Bro.Cantrell preached. *happy sigh*
We had a missionary from Ireland here today. It was great!
And Seth, EVERYTHING makes you feel like you are dying. Breathing cool fresh air makes you feel like you are dying...you hypochondriac!

I don't enjoy the feeling the Benadryl gives me of making my heart feel like it's going to just slowly stop. If you enjoy such frivolities, more power to you.
Oh yeah, I enjoy it. It makes me happy.

You are a known drug addict, along with your little holistic friend, so doesn't surprise me.
Heather, I had that happen last time I had to take antibiotics. It was horrid. *itch scratch scratch itch growl scratch*

He doesnt like talking on the phone much. (like someone ELSE I know. *cough*)
And I've tried the whole watching-same-shows-or-movies-on-the-phone thing...there is always a lag in the audio and it drives me NUTS!
If there's an audio lag, one or both of you must be on cell phones. With landline-to-landline phones you don't get that.
And yes, as an audio nerd that cell phone lag time drives me straight up the wall.
Land line? What's a land line?
I haven't owned or lived in a house with a land line in at least the last 8-10 years. Seriously.
Then it is decreed that you shall suffer lag! Bwahaha!
Uggg. It is already a two cup of coffee morning, and I foresee it getting worse. :pound: Exactly how does someone be a "morning person"?!?
As for me, when I see those happy smiling twits, I wanna beat there brains in, at least until around 10 am....
Night #3 (or 4) with no sleep. The pred is keeping me awake and the bactrim is keeping me itchy. I'm gonna see if I can just get some good ole amoxicillin to kick it. Also debating taking a migraine pill this evening because at least a medically enduced sleep is better than no sleep right? Lets try to make it through the workday......
Ugh. that is no fun Heather. I'm sorry you feel so yucky. *hugs*
It's not hard to be a morning person, Roscoe if you:
1. Eat well but not too late.
2. Get a full night's sleep
3. are prayed up.
4. aren't sick
5. wake up to sunshine and warm weather.
Everything else requires assistance... like coffee. lol
It is currently 19° right now. I've already made breakfasts for everyone and am drinking some roobios chai tea. Andrew just started the car so it can warm up. I'm not a happy camper. When it's this cold I wish I could just wear my jamma pants under my skirts all the time cause I get so stinking cold. And not cause I'm around the house either. When I was working on a daily basis, I was still freezing. It was Iowa though, so I was more validated.
Winter is here. :(
Ugh....merning all.
Just got sick at work :smirk2:
Feel much better though. The last few days have been horrible :sadbounce:
It's 39* here. Supposed to be 27 in the morning.
Kind of afraid to eat after my little meeting with the comode this morning. Got some apples and carrots but that's what I "lost" earlier so I'm thinking it might not be a good idea to eat those.
Weirdos. Every. last. one. of. you.
Fixing to go to North Vernon to Debbie's grandma's funeral.

Why are you reinstalling?
Because, contrary to all reports of stability, my computer decided to not access the net anymore. And after 2 weeks of monkeying around with it, I finally decided to format the hd and reinstall, to see if it would work again.
My question for mac users is this: If macs are so stable, why is there forum after forum filled with problems that users have?

JennJenn: You will be glad to know that once again my macbook is working. This makes me very happy.
Macbooks are stable against virus' and corruption I think. But they have harddrive/motherboard issues a lot.
My motherboards been replaced in mine, and it's 4 and a half years old. But my hard drive is so full, it will barely do much these days. It's driving me crazy.
Computers aren't meant to last more than a certain amount of years! They just aren't...I need a new Macbook.
:sadbounce:
Ive honestly never had a problem like this on a macbook. Something went haywire and would not let adium, chrome, safari, or any other programs access the net. I could still ping, and small menu bar apps (gmail checker and calendar) worked fine, but it was about to drive me insane.
I have had a antivirus mess up before on a windows computer and block everything from accessing the net except IE, and thats what this was acting like.
Now for the rest of you, get back to the normal weirdness!
:ugly:
My mom, brother and sister have macbooks. My brother works for Apple. I just have an old HP that I've had since college (almost 10 years old) and it works fine ;)

Yea but what do you use it for?
I use a heavy duty designing Adobe program...lol which is why I got a mac in the first place.
I only use mine for the Internet and writing stuff. Sometimes I use it for downloading things but not often.
I'm simple when it comes to computers. If I ever have any issues, my brother talks me down

Feeling much better than I did this morning. I'm thinking I might need to start eating some protein at breakfast time and maybe eat dinner later. Last night it was around 5 and I could barely eat 1/2 chicken breast and some strawberries.
Took my last methylprednisone this morning. PTL...stupid junk makes me ravenous!!!!
My HP laptop just randomly won't connect to the internet anymore. One day it's fine, the next it won't connect. It says a network cable is unplugged. Well, there never was a network cable plugged in the first place, and no one unplugged it. So what's the deal? We use wifi. And the wifi is still going strong in the church. In fact I'm using it on my phone right now. But the laptop won't recognize it.
Any suggestions from you geeks? What could I do to fix it?
I could ask my brother but he'd probably have a big long explanation...and he's at work. I'll still ask him though :)
Doctor is gonna call me in a different antibiotic and I'm to go off the bactrim and the pred. Oh body please sleep this evening.......
Returning to work has been interesting. Got a bonus today for these coupons we have to fill out in the same amount I had to spend at the Dr last week! PTL He provides!!!
Also the schedule changes at the end of December. I'm finally gonna start cross training!! Meaning I can officially pink needle things (*cough cough Furby cough*).
WHOOT!! Pink needles!
Yay for Heather! I'm sure cross training and pink needles are something awesome!
Depending on which side of the pink needle you are on! ;)
Glad someone's having a good day :)
Need to study now. Test Friday!
Pink needle... brrrrrr! :-\
Roscoe: I'm a night person, but that's because I'm on second shift. Back when I was on day shift I was a morning person.
How late do you stay up at night, and do you go to bed at the same time every night? The only way I could be a morning person was by being consistent, going to bed at the same time every night - staying up late on weekends throws your body out of whack and it takes until about Thursday to get re-synced again.
ALL MAC USERS: Don't believe that about being immune to viruses. Back in the day Mac users didn't get many viruses, mostly because there weren't many mac users, so virus makers wrote viruses for Windows because everyone had Windows - it's a profit-per-time thing. The tide, it is a-turning, and Macs have just as many vulnerabilities as Windows. Get ready, they're coming.
Having said that, Macs are usually pretty good for stability. They're not as flexible as a PC, but for basic end-users who just want to get online and check email and Facebook, watch a Youtube video, etc I actually recommend Macs. If you can afford them...
SippinTea, I hope you see this: Thank you for requesting a soundtrack for "Blessings" by Laura Story. There's a little 9 year old girl at church named Alexis who is mentally very mature for her age, and has a great voice. Her mother handed me a CD just before church was about to start last night and asked if I could remove the vocals (which is a very iffy thing - IF the vocal is equally in left and right channel, IF the instruments are panned left and right, IF I have time to invert one channel and set both mono, IF... and it still won't sound very good.) I said "Oh, I have a soundtrack for that already."
When she got through singing, more than one person was wiping his eyes.
They played "Blessings" at Hopes funeral last week. It was very fitting.

My computer does the "network cable" unplugged thing and you have to restart it Or sometimes it just will restart itself if it's been "asleep".... Sometimes you can let it set a long time and it stays connected to the net and doesn't have a prob, other times it goes "dead" in just a little while and has to restart....
I don't know what all it's deal is.
:hippy: :hippy: Far out! :hippy: :hippy: Groovy, man............ :hi:

The doctor who was in the office today refuses to give me any other medication but I do have the ok to stop the bactrim and pred. I'm now close to 24 hours without either and thankfully my skin has quit crawling. Sadly my headache has returned but if I sleep I can deal with it.

Almost there. We're so close to having neat new gadgets that I actually have a use for. Just a little bit further and this could be a remote for a real computer. I could control a whole recording session from a watch.
I had chest pains most of the night. I was afraid to go to sleep. I finally took some aspirin around midnight, just in case it was a heart attack and the pressure finally let off. So maybe it was. This morning I am NAUSAUTED, and my stomach is tore up. Not to mention the severe heartburn.
And of course that ever present dull throbbing of my head from the lamp incident is still hanging around.
Supposed to have a play date with Olivia and Kira today, but I don't know if I'll make it. If this is the onset of the flu or the crud thats going around, I don't need to be around a newborn.

Yeah, we have Wifi only. There is only one computer in this whole church that's got a Ethernet cable, and that's cause it's too old to have a wireless card. We had to hardwire it.

Photographic proof! :pound: :pound: fuzzy. Ya thief. And I obviously have a sad face because someone I love and respected stole my avatar! :cry2: :nono: :noo: :cry2:
It was a crazy and sad day today at Ye Ole Animal Hospital. We removed a 15 lb tumor from the chest of a boxer. And he lived! He was sitting up looking around jolly as can be when I left. But on the other hand I had to fill out 13 sympathy cards for the past 2 days for animals whom we've either euthanized or have passed away. And I was handed 2 more charts immediately after I had finished those :( Somedays my job is rough. I think that's part of the reason I've started going to work out after work everyday. Leave some of that stress/sadness/anger at the gym.
Don't blame me cause Mel's phone is wacky.
Dinner turned out a lot better today. And it was my own invention.
Browned ground beef, diced onion, sliced raw potatoes, 2 cans cream of mushroom soup, can of milk, can of whole kernel corn, drained, shreadded cheese, and a packet of Lipton onion soup mix. Dump all together in the crock pot and cook on high for 3 hours.
It was yummy. Everyone had seconds, and we still have a serving left over for one of us to eat later.
After the flop last night, and not eating anything today cause of an ill stomach, (except some tea and toast) this dinner was hearty and filling and warm and yummy!! Perfect!
Next time, I think I'll add a can of sweet peas. It could have used a green veggie.
Roscoe should arrest Rat's Nest for impersonating an officer!
Went to work and some other errand crud and came home.
Finally.
Etc.
I made creamy chicken enchiladas for dinner!
They were delicious!

Or I listen to my Joyeux Noel - french christmas Pandora station...where it's all in french, and so I get the gist of what it's playing, but not all all the sickly, sappy overjoyful commercial christmas music!

Do you fellow foodies think if I mixed up the dry ingredients for chocolate cake that it would be equal to a box cake; in the way that you can just add a can of pumpkin to a cake mix and get the same result? I don't like buying cake mixes when I can just make it so much cheaper.
Yes, I think you can. Do it!

There are only so many ways you can sing a song, but every music star who decides to put out a christmas album has to come up with what he thinks is a new way to sing it. I wish they'd just make their own songs.
I think I might have a "plan" for my "situation". Feels a little better. It's still gonna be a doozy though.

I don't understand why you post that kkay when you're not actually sharing anything. Or maybe I'm the only one who has no idea what you're talking about. lol
Isaac, why do you post the link and not the actual comic?
Last year, my sister got my kids a gift of giving chicks to some poverty stricken family. It was sweet, so we did it this year. Something different.
Just not into sharing that much detail about this specific thing. Some personal things should stay personal. I was just simply stating how I feel and what's going on. Nothing more, nothing less.
in reality, you're not really sharing. lol
Have you met Isaac? Of course not. You two would make a great pair.

I'm not quite an open book....but close. I typically hide emotions until they explode...LOL Or at least I did pre GP. Now I find myself venting quite often.

Nah, I just really don't like sharing details about this one thing because it's ultra sensitive and I'd rather just share how I'm feeling about it instead of the gooey details.
Sometimes it just seems like there are backhanded comments on here. That's why I left before but I don't really get that emotional anymore about little things.
What do you mean by backhanded?
By the way..I'm sure it's not meant as "backhanded" but it just sometimes comes across as it.

I don't have anything to hide. It's just one situation that I won't discuss with anyone that's not involved in it. It's something between me and one other person that we have to deal with. I just post on here to kind of get my feelings out about how I feel.

I think I've become a little rougher online in the last few years. Especially after the split. I feel a little protective and on guard to what seems to be fake people just on here for attention, not friendship. That want the perks of friends w/o actually giving anything of themselves. That's not a person I can trust, because they're not contributing anything to bond with. The thing is, I want to see others open up and be real. I love new friends. I learned by example that GP is about having a place to be yourself, to actually share. That those are the ones that last and are real.
I've met a handful of GPers and with the exception of one, they were all awesome people! And that one whined and whined and isn't here anymore.
Actually I was talking about my cape. I got SippinTea to make me a couple, one black, one tan. Causes a few comments, but I never did really care what other people think and I always liked a nice warm cape.

That's here, that's here. :teeth:
And maybe I should correct myself...
It's not that I don't want to make any friends here. It's just that it's not my #1 priority right now in my life. I don't mind having new friends and old friends. I just have a lot going on right now and it's hard to make any new friends at this point.
*racks brain of when I said secretive*
Probably Isaac, we'd have to be around each other to find a working niche or something. It's not your privacy alone. It's your dramatic insecurity (as if some hacker couldn't still find you or that you are THAT amazing that people are out to get you) coupled with the fact that either you don't have any local friends or it's weird that you never mention them, that you're a grown man living with your grandmother who plays with computers, is more excited about food than me... lol and can't handle any jesting at all it seems.
Those things singularly are not weird. All together...
Ever think that the cape jokes are meant to have FUN with you instead of you touting off about how you don't care what people think? Geeze, I'd LOVE to just be able to be easy going with you. Everyone makes jokes about me being a pothead since the first time I planted tomatoes and didn't know the difference between them and weeds when they sprouted. I don't get offended, it's hilarious. Friends are people you can joke with. From the beginning, before I ever even thought different of you, you got your panties in a bunch over light jesting. Not only that but there have been times you come off very pretentious, not just opinionated.
So then I'm just put out with you. I think it bothers me because I would actually like to be your friend. I felt like I went out of my way in the beginning to be nice to you and your unique personality. But you didn't open up, you just maintained the wall. Making it clear you didn't want to be friends.
ALL that together I think causes us to rub each other the wrong way.
So there. Way too much drama for a sharing thread. lol
Back to fun :P
That's what makes it the sharing thread. Besides the drama keeps it exciting. Heh....
Heating up my left over creamy chicken enchilada's while singing a Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas...which I am singing very low, and very soulful like. Fun to sing.

ok. kkay. I think I understand.
You don't care about making friends here. You don't want people here to know your business. You just want somewhere to be heard. But it's not attention seeking. With like minded people but not share anything like minded... Are you Apostolic, are you in church? You want to walk in here, be a part of this but not actually be a part which might cause you to share who (generally speaking, not your face or address  ) you are. You want us to respond? to your feelings about which we have no clue what you're referring to.
Or maybe you don't care if we respond, you just want the attention to say what you feel and us all to listen? lol

Or maybe you don't care if we respond, you just want the attention to say what you feel and us all to listen? lol
Since everyone else is being sarcastic today...well, maybe I'll just zip it :)
It's not that I don't care what others might have to say about what I share, it's just that ONE particular thing I don't like to share EVERYTHING about. I've shared PLENTY of other things about myself and talked to others on here, even tried to help others. I'm sorry if you feel I should share something that I don't want to tell the world about. Guess that's why everyone's allowed to be different ;)
lol Kkay, I don't care that you don't share your business! What's annoying is YOU always alluding to it! YOU keep bringing attention to it but never clue us in to what you're talking about. YOU keep making it the focus! YOU talk about it all the time. If you don't want us to know what it is, WHY are YOU talking vaguely about it? It is a contradiction and in real life... which online still is, it would be rude and annoying. Not the person who asks about the thing you incessantly refer to.
Who does that face to face?
I can honestly say I'd say everything I post face to face. It might surprise people my disposition though.
This just gets funnier.
I thought we were allowed to share how we're feeling? Maybe I was wrong about that. I share how I'm feeling and share what I want about what's going on in my life.
I'm not really upset about what people say on here. It's just kind of depressing to know that people can say things that they know are mean and never have a second thought.
I'll discontinue sharing anything since what I do share isn't good enough
LOL You aren't sharing anything. just vague feelings. How can we respond to something we know nothing about? How can we be supportive if we have no clue what the situation is?
wait, are you really a liberal democrat? lol
you can share how you feel but I cannot w/o you running off offended? I'm only one person. Notice no one else is saying this. Just me.
Would you put others in the same precarious predicament face to face and then leave when they asked what you're talking about? Or asked why you keep talking vaguely about it if you don't want people to know?
OR perhaps I'm having a crummy day and I'm not allowed to call out ridiculousness.
Wow.
This is very entertaining. :D
Carry on.
MY, you do come across harsher on the forum sometimes than you did in real life. At least that one time I met you. ;)
Oh that was a lovely visit.
I do. I know I do. I don't yet know how to change that. I say the same things in real life, people do not think I'm so mean.
On the other hand, it immediately identifies the temperamental people who cause issues down the road that I should avoid. But I actually try and think that perhaps they really aren't that way in real life and want to think they are just shy and will open up. Perhaps I should just ignore new comers altogether and anyone else I'm not sure about. But that seems rude. :hypocrite: LOL
Rules on the internet are different from rules face-to-face. Think of all the cryptic status updates and inside jokes on facebook...
Also, just because something can be called out doesn't necessarily mean it should be called out. I wouldn't stand up in the middle of a church service and announce to the whole congregation that I saw Brother Joe smoking a cigarette, or Sister Sue was rude to me.
I just think that some people think what they say will be taken a certain way and they're not. You may not have the intentions to make someone feel a certain way but sometimes it does.
Or is that too vague? ;)
I don't expect anyone here to comment on the things I say or to examine them to try to help me. It's cool. I just like *sharing* on here. That's the whole point.
I agree with Isaac though. Some things may not need to be said. You risk hurting someone or putting out the wrong vibe.
No harsh feelings toward anyone. I just won't share how I feel anymore ;)

I'm not going to even begin to compare FB to GP. While GP is public, it's less than 10 of us interacting regularly. Not quite a congregation. And we're not in the middle of an organized service where no one talks. We're in conversation. A small group conversation in which people say certain thing and it feels like sitting there with crickets cause it's thrown out there but nobody wants to touch it, apparently. Yes, everyone has been having tons and tons of grace, Isaac. And today, I'm thankful they're having grace for me. I feel everyone else is taken advantage of in these subjects and I'm just feeling spunky enough to address it. :hypocrite:
And it now bores me. People will be how they want to be even if they are shown it's wrong. And if you think I'm being rude, it is the ultimate irony of the day. :biglaugh:
kkay, it's irrelevant. I've spoke my mind and have a better impression of you now. Have a great day.
How is someone wrong for not wanting to share certain details of a situation they're facing? *scratches head*
At least now I know what irritates certain people and I don't have to talk about it anymore. That's the quick fix ;)

There's a little mama here that wants to bring rabbit over & make it.
Does it taste like squirrel?
Nothing like squirrel. We had squirrel and dumplings last night though, speaking of squirrel.
Well that was entertaining.....[so it's not vague, I'm referencing the previous 3-4 pages of sharing....]
I got sent home early from work due to the extreme lack of business we had. Went and sat in the steam room at the gym. Best thing I've done since I've been sick. Will be doing that until this gunk goes away. Also officially joined the gym today [and got a discount due to my health insurance provider].
Going to work on a scarf I've crocheting for my secret Santa at work
No church for me tonight. I don't have enough gasoline in the car to get me to one.

Dude! What is that birds name?!
Mixed my spice rub, and chopped my onion, bell pepper and jalapeƱo. Putting those things and flank steak in my crock pot in the morning to cook carnitas all day.
Super stoked. I'm already drooling over my dinner for tomorrow. Haha.
Now, off to bed!
In the picture there those are Modena pigeons.....those don't have a particular name. Is what they are what you're asking? lol
The alt-text is what pops up when you hover your cursor over the comic. Here it doesn't work. On the home site it works. In this case, the alt-text says "A tradition is anything that happened to a baby boomer twice." You mean all this time you've been missing the alt-text?
MellowYellow: I can't say what rabbit tastes like, except rabbit. There's really no comparison. Squirrel tastes like squirrel, deer tastes like deer, etc, and rabbit tastes like rabbit. I know that sounds smart-alec, but it's really the only answer I can find to give. I've tried a lot of wild game and none of it tastes anything like any of the rest.
Seth: Those birds all look very cold. Or maybe it's just the way the sunlight looks... it looks like a very cold day outside there.
In the meantime, tomorrow I have plans which are not of earth shattering importance, but are extensive. I plan to (deep breath...) mail two packages, pay the water bill, pay the electric bill, pay the internet bill, stop by two salvage groceries to see what neat stuff they have, stop by a good Mediterranean restaurant (think greek food) and get back home before work.
G'night y'all.

Trying rabbit will be an adventure then! My friend has aguy at church that promised her one as soon as it's cold enough for them to be safe to eat, I guess. He's the one that makes youtube clips on how to cook wild game that I posted a while back.
Isaac, I wasn't being snarky either when I asked about the comics. I've never had the alt-text.

Morning, all. I am back at work on my Friday. I managed to remember to put out some pork steak to thaw this morning, so that will probably be supper. If I'd remembered to thaw it yesterday, I'd have it in the crock pot, but I didn't. Oh well.
Church was great last night. A spirit of restoration filled the church....was truly an awesome praise service, and went hand in had with the message. And that's my sharing. Y'all have a great day.

Things are going well over here. That *thing* I don't like to give details about is going to come back up in January because I'm going to bring it up and see how it goes. And that's all the vagueness I have for today.
I'm hoping the holidays are good. Found out my brother's ex-wife had one of their sons out at Wal Mart at 11:30 last night. He's only 7! And he has a medical condition and doesn't need to be out in the cold AT ALL let alone at 11:30 at night! :flamingmad:
Beautiful sunrise today, light pinks & blues. I'm off to see a friend today. She's my age but in a nursing home kind of place. Idk what her ailments are but she doesn't get out much. We might go to Hobby Lobby & look at all the Christmas stuff! It's been a long time since I've gone there.

It'd be SO hilarious if they stayed in the water long enough and got froze in the water. hahahahaha

How cruel.... :P
That would take a while in most cases.
It is possible that ducks could freeze fast if they sit on a pond overnight or something.
That would be SO hilarious. I'd laugh so hard.

Trying to keep thoughts outta my head while I'm at work. Things are getting better in that department. Need to go clean out my bowl from my soup.

Speaking of tax refunds, I can't wait 'til mine next year. Also, I think I might be getting a raise in April. Yay! Then my car and another loan will be paid off in June - August.
Next year should be a good year ;)
Just applied for an admin job at a company I have like 3 friends working.
The lady has my resume/letter of interest in her inbox. She's already emailed my friend asking about me.
I've interviewed with them before. So pray folks pray.
It's also literally like 5 minutes from my new apartment!~!! Be a SUPER DUPER blessing. Seeing as I'm driving 30 mins one way now to work!
Wait, wait... if you already interviewed for this job, and they don't have a record of it, they had to email your friends who work there to find out who you are - do you really want a job there?
Or is this a GOOD sign, that they need your admin skills?
Or maybe just her memory?

Speaking of getting out of debt... my brother and his wife (they've been married about 3 yrs-ish) have made it a tradition to get a new ornament every year. Something of significance or memory from the past year. This year, they got TOTALLY out of debt (well, other than buying a house, but that's kind of in its own category). So they're shredding a credit card and putting it inside a clear glass ball. :) I think that's pretty cool. By the time they're married 20 yrs, they'll have an entire history of stories hanging on their tree. :)

I said I've interviewed there before. For a different position.
Getting out of debt is HUGE! I told Nathan I'll feel more Christian when we are out of debt... lol
Ruby, that is so sweet. We started doing that in 2008 when we took our first family vacation. I wish we had always done it. Definitely makes decorating the tree so nostalgic. Do you do something similar?
I think once I have my car and the other loan paid off I'll be much happier. Of course, then I'll have to get some repairs done to my car but THEN I'll be able to pay off my credit cards. I don't have all that much debt but enough so that I'm not able to do whatever I want with what I make.
We've got a couple more years of slogging torwards debt free status....but it is getting better all the time. Chey's private school really slowed us down, as well as my Dad's dying three years ago. We took on some debt that I shouldn't have, just so I could be a sentimental fool and keep his pickup......Boy have I regretted that. :sadbounce:
I probably have a few years 'til I'm completely out of debt (credit cards, student loans, etc.) but it'll be muuuuch better when I am.
And Roscoe - I kind of know how you feel. You might regret it now but at the time I'm sure you didn't think you would.

At the time, it was someting I HAD to do....I guess in a way I was hanging on to the only thing I could of his. Now- well, I regret the position it put my family in. And I actually dislike the truck- alot. In fact if it weren't for me being so bullheaded and the fact it was daddy's it'd be gone. :laughhard: It is the exact opposite of anything I would've bought. It is an automatic, I prefer a standard. It is burgandy, I like blue. It has every piece of diamond plate stainless they make on it- I'd rather it didn't have any. It has big ole honkin' mudgrips on the back that I wouldn't put on anything I own......If it weren't Daddy's, it'd be slammed to the ground, rollin' on some sweet rims, all the chrome gone, bed cover, roll pan, shaved handles- everything I've done to my previous minitrucks.
But alas, I fear my sister or my dad's ghost would lynch me if I did that...LOL

There is a "Christmas Warehouse" that sets up shop here every year. Their ornaments are very inexpensive and unique. Maybe there is something like that there? Or maybe you all can make your own?
I heard on the radio today that one family's Christmas tradition was to wait till Christmas to put baby Jesus in the manger and then read the story. The youngest was telling the story and how that when it was
finally her turn, when she had gotten "big enough," she was so proud, reverent, and excited to do the honors. So cute. Traditions are so precious.

Y'all know that feeling when you have a burning in your throat from acid reflux and it is so intense at the back of your mouth and down your esophagus? Yeah. That was me a half hour ago. I was in some serious pain. So I ate 5 Tums first. That didn't touch it. At. All. So it was on to the mustard...after three tablespoons of cold mustard, it was bearable, but still there. So I drank a glass of milk. It is almost completely gone.
Now I sit here waiting. I'm afraid to lay down, but so sleepy that I fell asleep sitting here before I started typing this.
I need to try to lay back down and finish my sleep. I get to actually sleep in a bit today. We are going to Lowes later today to look at dishwashers! WHOOT! And possibly a furniture store to get a new mattress for me! WHOOT WHOOT!
:hi:
Roscoe -
I understand that. We kept everything of my dad's and most of it is just sitting up in mom's garage now in a box or tote. There were only really a few things we should have kept - WWII love letters, some glass bottles that he made at the factory where he worked, etc. But instead we kept all his clothes, boxes and boxes of receipts and other paperwork, everything glass, etc. We'll probably eventually throw some things out but I can't imagine throwing his clothes out.
And guess what, everyone? Last night the bf came in and said "I wanna go to church...I'm serious."
