Finally made my GF banana cream pie tonight. It calls for egg yolks and I wasn't about to waste the whites so I topped with meringue.

Yes, that is one of the many downsides of working second shift. The only upside is sleeping as late as I want... and being able to tell people I can sleep as late as I want. :smug: I'd rather be back on day shift, but as I'm stuck on nights I take what satisfaction I can get from it.

I do love me some Silver Dollar City! I haven't gotten to explore much of Branson yet. There is a marriage retreat there every Valentine's wknd. But last time we went most things were closed and there was 3ft of snow. Sooo... we didn't get out much.
For all those trying to get healthier. Especially about diabetes. This floored me. Not sure why, we know vague things but to hear details just.. idk perhaps took it from "less healthy" to "harmful" in my mind.
Some basic background: "Farmers harvest the seed of the wheat plant called the wheat berry. The wheat berry consists of three parts--the germ, the bran and the endosperm. Wheat germ and wheat bran come from the same place as flour. The bran is the outside layer where most of the fiber exists. Most of the oils and nutrients are contained in the germ, and the endosperm is the center, starchy layer. Graham flour is the entire wheat berry (germ, bran and endosperm) ground into flour."
"The reason food is processed in the first place is usually to extend its shelf life. Once the wheat berry is milled, all the oils are released from the germ and bran, and it's shelf life decreases exponentially. The solution....commercial millers run wheat berries through a process to remove the bran and germ, which just so happen to be the most nutrious parts of the berry. When you purchase whole wheat flour in the grocery store, it has a decent shelf life, because most of the germ and bran have been removed to keep the oil content low.
The next step to creating white flour is the bleaching process. The flour is gased with chlorine which gives it that "nice" white color we are used to seeing and "ages" the flour. An unintended by-product of this process is a chemical compound called alloxan. Alloxan has one commercial function. It is the chemical that researchers use to produce diabetes in lab animals so that they can study cures for the disease. Alloxan produces diabetes by attacking the pancreatic beta cells and killing them. Beta cells produce insulin. No insulin means you get diabetes.
As if that wasn't bad enough, because the government said they have to, commercial flour millers then add the vitamins back into our flour that they killed with all the processing. The vitamins that are added are no longer natural, but instead a man-made synthesis of what was originally in the whole wheat berry. This is what they call "enriching". God intended for milled wheat berries to be full of fiber, Vitamin E , good fats, magnesium, Vitamin B, iron, phosphorous and calcium. Why mess with that?"

No, it's sinus. It only happens twice a year. When the weather goes from hot to cool, or from cool to hot. It usually takes a couple of weeks for my sinuses to adjust. In the meantime, it bleeds. Several a day for a couple of weeks. Not majorly like gushing out. That only has happens once. But just enough inside where I have to blow and blow frequently and it's annoying. Lol
At night, it dries up inside my nose and in the morning it takes forever to get it all out and be able to breathe normally again. Nuisance really.
Isaac - no problem. :) And thanks for being a patient customer. I wouldn't even be able to do large projects like this for some people. I love being able to go ahead and accept larger orders, knowing that a particular client won't be upset if it doesn't arrive within 2 or 3 weeks. It gives me the creative fun of doing large projects, and also the flexibility to work around my family's needs. Seriously - thanks. :)

Apparently he got into something that made him have this HUGE allergic reaction this week. Mom took him to the vet this morning because he had large red welps ALL over him. He got 2 shots, medicine and lotion.
When he was a puppy, he got into rat poisoning at my Grandparents house....
He's fallen in the pool twice....

Welp. I witnessed another wedding!! This time it was an elderly couple in our church who were married (to each other) a long time ago, and they stayed married for 20 years. Then they divorced cause they could get more money from the government checks and such if they were not married. So they divorced and just lived together. He is a natural born Jew and she was catholic. Well now they have both seen the light and are apostolic. But they recently decided to do what is right with God and remarry. No matter what benifits they lose. So they did! Yay! It was so sweet.
Both have been baptized, but only the man has received the Holy Ghost as of yet.
I'm fittin to go to bed. Gotta get up early and take dad to get his catheter in his chest taken out. Surgery is at 7am.

Jenn-sounds like a bee sting. My mom's dog Huxley tried to swallow one and it stung him IN his mouth. He was all swelled up and red around his face. I joked it looked like he's been in a fight club.
I've been known to wrangle some dogs before at work....
Well he does eat random things. They're always eating something in the backyard...I caught him with a dead locust the other night.
Mom does have a lot of plants in the backyard. Who knows...lol they were ALL over his whole body though. Not his face though.

Mine is Wikipedia, neither more or less valid. But alloxan aside, white flour is basically starch, which turns to sugar in the body. Between dumping sugar in everything and using white flour, small wonder we have so many diabetics.
In nature, that which is sweet is good for you. Sugar cane and sugar beets are loaded with trace elements, vitamins and minerals. Fruits of all sorts are good for you, as is honey, which was used for millennia to sweeten food. But man decided he didn't want the honey flavor in what he sweetened, so he took the sugar out of the sugar cane and sugar beets. He took what tasted good and threw away the part that was good for you. Likewise with most processed foods - flour, cheese, even what they do to most vegetables when they can them - the more processed it is, the less it is good for you.
That is why processed food is bad for you, because the processor has the wrong objective. Food that tastes better sells better, food that lasts longer on the shelf has less being thrown away because it is old, so the manufacturer has every reason to process food for the wrong reason, toward the wrong end-goal. Things that are sweet sell better than things that are less sweet. The more salt you add, the longer food is preserved (and the more water weight you can add, which is why too much salt is becoming an epidemic problem in the U.K.) So we are left with markets full of white flour, sugar in everything and hot dogs that (I kid you not) don't decompose over decades in the landfill.
I will say though, there is one thing I think should have sugar added. Chocolate! :D I go more for the 70% cocoa so there isn't a lot of room for sugar.
And I am convinced companies could just as easily process foods to be MORE nutritious instead of less. They'd go bankrupt though, nobody would buy it. There is a great disparity between what people want, will pay for, and need. :smirk2:

My family members have recently discovered Ebay. My mother has now posted anything she can get her hands on, and my sister seems to have a nack for selling things, including all my collectible dolls... Which are now sold and on there way to Thailand.
Her reasoning behind the madness was that I owed her $60.00 that I never paid, she claims its now paid in full...
Sometimes I want to hurt that girl, but when I thought about how sneaky she was to pull that off, all I could do was laugh.
Well in the last week we conducted a kid's revival in Georgia, then I thought I was dying on the way home of a heart attack in the middle of Hillbilly North Carolina, got home to spend 3 days in the hospital, had a tube run from the artery in my wrist through to my heart, had a double barreled shotgun forced down my throat to check out my stomach (among other torture methods called "diagnostic testing"), and found out my heart is in great shape but my stomach and esophagus isn't.
Now, I am off work through at least next week cause my right arm can't be used much so I don't bust the vein open and bleed to death. Going to use the time to take care of somethings I believe God has been leading me to do for awhile but I used work and other things as an excuse. My excuses are gone for next week anyway. Need your prayers big time for this coming week.

Honey is antibacterial. Not the runny kind you get from reg. grocery stores, that's the same as sugar.
Ground oats are supposed to be a moisturizing gentle exfoliator. Just put them in the blender.
And coconut oil is an oil that your skin is supposed to absorb like food and not clog your pores like petrolium based moisturizers.
I have these things in the house and they can't hurt me so I'm not out much if it doesn't work. If anyone's interested, I'll tell ya how it worked or didn't work. My skin is pretty clear since I stay away from gluten but it could always use some TLC after all these years of abuse... LOL
I'm a bit wired today so I'm going to go take a shower and try it, then try rolling my hair in a "sock bun" for the first time.

I'm really looking forward to church today. Let me tell you what God did for our church.
We have been busting at the seams, and knew we needed a church van. So for the past few months, we have been looking for one pretty seriously. Friday night, I got a call. We now had a church van! 2009 12 passenger van. Church logo on the side of it already, and ready to roll!
Funny thing was...we didnt buy it!
Another minister and his family were in town eating, and drove by the church and saw the van. They stopped, was looking at it, and called the pastor to say "We REALLY like our new van." Our pastor said "Uh...what new van?" Someone bought it for us, and gave it to us! Whats funny was the pastor and his wife were sitting down to eat and were discussing needing a new church van. He was showing her on his phone 2 that he had found when they got the phone call.
We have no idea who did it, but we are so thankful.
God is GREAT!

Had an amazing service today. Words cannot describe. Reminds me of a phrase I heard recently: When God's in it, there's no limit. I lasted not long into the choir song before I went down to the front to shout. There was a tongues/interpretation during Sunday school, my pastor preached it so well, I can't imagine anyone left without the Holy Ghost, there was such a love of God in that place. I am so thankful for the grace of God that brought us to this church.
I also LOVE that when people raise their hands at altar service for healing, that my pastor asks after we pray for them if they had pain before, is it still there. Much of the time, when there is pain, it is gone. God heals!

And morning all. I am back at work. Ready for the day to be over. Woke up this morning and couldn't find my keys ANYWHERE. After a frantic search, I stole Lou's truck key and came to work. Turns out my sister grabbed my keys by mistake when she was at the house last night dropping off fresh baked peanut butter cookies. :smirk2:

I met a couple of cool people today. One is a fellow nerd, so we had a lot to talk about. His wife is hard of hearing, but says it's more fun to go with what she THINKS he said than get a hearing aid. :biglaugh:

In tother sharing news, I woke up SICK! Well, I say "woke up" loosely cause I didn't sleep well. I have what appears to be a nasty head cold. Complete with non stop coughing and fever. My throat is RAW and swollen, and I've done basically nothing but lay in the bed all day long, waiting on the storm and napping when I can.
I'm about to go eat some of that soup I made yesterday. Maybe food will help seeing how I haven't had anything yet today. Lol

Well today started great and ended... not-so-great. When I got home from meeting those two cool people I took a nap on the couch. Then I got up to go to work, but I found I had left the key in the ignition and my vehicle's battery was run down. So I had to bike to work, which made me late because I was expecting to drive to work, which meant I had to stay a quarter of an hour after midnight to make up for it, then bike back home. Have you any idea how many bugs are out and about at night out here in the country?

So now I'm home, online, with a jar of Dickinson's vanilla creme. I'm happy again. :)

My evening was awesome! The "two cool people" Isaac refers to showed up, and we all met Bro and Sis Papa and attempted to shut down the local Golden Corral. Then, RainbowJingles and Lou tore off to hit the local Goodwills, ect, while Taco and I headed for Rusty and a cruise around my tiny town. Then, we went to my humble abode, where we sat and talked until the girls got home, then sat and talked even longer. We were up until after eleven....I SO did not want to come to work today. Had this not been a spur of the moment deal, I'd have taken off of work, but we are shorthanded and so I couldn't. Taco was making noises about holding a yardsale in my absence, and the Clown was wanting to have an antique auto sale. :o
I'm looking forward to tonight's service......it is gonna be awesome!
Oh, and Mr and Mrs Clown brought two items, in particular, endearing themselves to me----1) three bars of Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Bars.. :fork: and 2) Two loaves of awesome looking sourdough I have yet to sample, from another awesome friend. :fork:

The storm FINALLY showed up. Still moving really slow. Has just barely made landfall now. We have had lots of rain overnight, and our yard is flooded, but nothing more than we usually have. We are not trapped or anything. A few months ago we were flooded worse than this, but it's not over yet.
Dad is already itching to get out and "see the damage", but I'm still not feeling too great.

Then, RainbowJingles and Lou tore off to hit the local Goodwills, ect, while Taco and I headed for Rusty and a cruise around my tiny town. Then, we went to my humble abode, where we sat and talked until the girls got home, then sat and talked even longer. We were up until after eleven....I SO did not want to come to work today. Had this not been a spur of the moment deal, I'd have taken off of work, but we are shorthanded and so I couldn't. Taco was making noises about holding a yardsale in my absence, and the Clown was wanting to have an antique auto sale. :o
I'm looking forward to tonight's service......it is gonna be awesome!
Oh, and Mr and Mrs Clown brought two items, in particular, endearing themselves to me----1) three bars of Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Bars.. :fork: and 2) Two loaves of awesome looking sourdough I have yet to sample, from another awesome friend. :fork:

We are ok. Here's the story:
The house was fine thru the whole storm, last night it started lightning and thunder storming and it continued all night. Dad was due for dialysis this morning at 9. So I got up at 6 and looked around, the water was up, covering the entire yard, and lapping up under the carport. The bottom quarter of the ramp was under water. We didn't think we had anywhere to go. No money for sure, but the area that our church is, tornados have been reported, and massive flooding down there. So we couldn't go there. After a few phone calls, the neighbor came and told us we have to get out and NOW, cause they are opening the floodgates in Mobile, and that means it will flood our house for sure. So we didn't know when we left, exactly where we would go. Then my sister in law called and said we could go to her moms house and stay till we can go back home, so here we are. And my Internet is working again on my phone.
Our house will most likely be flooded when we get back. I just pray it's not.
Dad has dialysis tomorrow now, instead of today.
I am so near to just bursting into tears it's not funny. I wanna just go and cry. But I can't.

We got a call from the neighbor, her son canoed into our yard and went into our house and he said that it was DRY! No water has been in the house, and there is about 4 inches left before it gets up over the door!! Praise the Lord!!
We won't be able to go home for a few days, but at least we have a home to go to! Yay!
I feel MUCH MUCH better about things now. Still kinda worried, but not freaked out so badly!

What? Windows is my go-to OS for music making. Use the tool that works, I say. And for a Windows computer that is always online, an OS reinstall is advisable every year or two.

Well. As of 10 am this morning we are officially homeless. There was a foot and a half of water inside this morning, and the water was still rising. We went to go pick up my car and dads van this afternoon and there is prolly about 3-4 feet of water in the house. *sigh* it will be about a week before we can get in and acess the damage. So I don't know what of value we have left, if anything.
I have cried my eyes out and still tried to be strong for dad. He's already down and talking of bad things. Lord help.

We had Furby placed in a foster home. I mean had called a friend and arranged for him to stay with them for the duration of our time in the apartment, and maybe permanently. Well, we were on the way back to Gauiter to pick up him and our belongings from the place we have been staying, and we were gonna take him to his new home...when...*sigh* Pastor called and said he can't bear to break his dear sisters heart, and that "against his better judgement" he will allow Furby to continue to live in the same abode as my mother. But he BETTER behave and no peeing inside anymore!

So much to my disappointment, we still have the dog in our possession. Blah. But mom is tickled pink.
When I saw him, I said "You dumb dog, I was really close to being rid of you!" and mom was not too pleased at my comment. Hehe.
So! For the time being, we will stay in the apartment at the church. I am SOOO HAPPY with this arrangement!

I feel...like I'm HOME. Seriously. I HATED living 14 miles from the church. (one way) It was too far from all the action and my friends and fellowship and the work of God. Honestly, for the time I've been that far distance away from the church, I've felt backslidden. It was too easy to not go to ALL the things at church and all the extra stuff cause it was far away.
That's how I felt at least. And dad would gripe about gas and whatever whatever. Now I can be involved with everything again, and still be "home" to take care of dad. :)
I know it's temporary, and it's not an ideal situation, but for now, I feel that I am at peace. A shiny bright window on what has been a really dark and cloudy few days.
I think I'll sleep well tonight. :)

Dad is on hold of course, and Im using the computer in the office. We are using the church land line, cause when we use the cell phones and get placed on hold, the call usually drops after 10 or 15 minutes and the approximate hold time is 25 minutes. lol so after several attempts to call, we decided that we needed to use the church phone.
Isaac, Im supposed to be here for now, even after all the crazy things that have happened to us this year, I do not have a release from God to move anywhere else. I belong HERE. If God gives me the command to move, I will. But until then, I cant.
Dommage, but understand that. And my place is here, for the same reason, so I can't move out west and slightly to the south to be central to where the cool people live.
But I have a great family and a wonderful church family, so it's not all that bad.
So the ladies from Hardee's informed me today that she has hired me and I start on Wednesday at 7am.
So I do not have to go in on Tuesday, which means I can clean a house with my aunt and get some money, it will not be much but it will supply me with the gas I need until my first check! GOD IS SOO GOOD.
My brother used to work at a Hardee's. Every night he'd take home cheese covered meat patties, bacon, etc to feed to the dogs. That was a good time in our dogs' lives. :)

Preached for a neighboring pastor yesterday so he could enjoy a day off. Went in, had a beautiful service, great altar call. Preached hard enough my shirt tail was untucked by the time I was done. LOL
Came home, got a great nap, then went out and got Sam(the52Chevy). Got up early this morning, spent some time with Sam getting the yard cleaned up. On my way back, I passed a guy in a new caddy. He saw me coming, rolled down his window, stuck his arm out and gave me a thumbs up! Made my day.
Finished off this evening with family dinner (BBQ!) and then some shooting with Pa and Lance my BIL. Oh, and Lance even drove Sam! First time to ever drive a stick!

Waaaaaay ahead of you. The JVC marshmallow earbuds at Wal-Mart are fairly good, with a very equable frequency response and surprising external audio blocking. Lord, what a morning. Decided to drive the 'vette, because a local car lot has an older Mercedes diesel I am interested in. Was gonna stop by tonight and see if they'd have any interest in trading for the 'vette. First, I hit an armadillo- and immediatly thought of Seth- and the sucker rolled from one end of the car to the other. As low as the Corvette is, he was toast. And toasty armadillo is not on my list of good smelling breakfast items. :laughhard:
I rinsed it off best I could, and went by the local station that I stop and get my morning beverage at. Car shows to have a quarter tank of gas, so I figure I'll fill up when I get to conway or Little Rock- cheaper gas.
My car' fuel gauge lies like a rug. The car refused to start. I immediatly suspected the fuel pump, because they are known for dying. After 30 minutes of trouble shooting I determined the fuel pump was working fine. Pushed the stupid thing to the gas pumps, put ten bucks in and it fired right up.
Needless to say, I have been running late all morning, it is 90 degrees out already, and I've sweated through every stich I have on. SO not a good morning. :pound: :pound:

And yesterday would have been my grandma's 93 birthday. And grandma was renowned for her chicken and dumplings...man oh man. Had an amazing service at mom's church Sunday night.

In other news, I'm studying to get my AIC certification. Took a test today after studying 3 chapters for about a week. Passed that. Next test is *hopefully* next week. Then I'll have about 2-3 weeks inbetween for studying other sections.

Wow, what a service. Awesome feel of God in the place. I had a message together, thought it bore an uncanny similarity to one I preached a year or so ago, but felt it was what was needed. Bro Papa turned it over to me while people were praying after a song, and I just felt led to linger a bit in God's presence. The church responded, I preached for forty-five minutes and probably didn't use two lines of my message other than the Scriptures.
As an aside- I have no doubt who the message was meant for. We had a new guy I have seen just twice- last Sunday and tonight- come in. Yes, he responded. Yes, he prayed. It is a good beginning.One of those rare occasions I felt completely delivered- and justified. It was great.
And I was highly concerned about even making to church. The towtruck driver that was supposed to pick up the Corvette was supposed to meet me at 4. At 6:30, he showed up. Church starts at 7:30, prayer at 7, and I was still in my uniform.... :o
No wonder people responded, they thought you'd shoot the them if they didn't.

Here we go again, the same notes AGAIN! Chel always says that, yet I have never seen any evidence of such. She's always a big hit with everyone, wherever she goes. The only downside is, after she comes through town I have at least a year of people asking when she's coming back. My pastor still mentions her at random, totally unpredictable times.
Oh well, Chel, your delusions are not our problem.
My pastors wife asked me about her this week even. And our Youth group kids do too, at least one will come up to me every other week and ask me about her.
And about her getting on people's nerves. She used to get on mine. And honestly I didn't really like her much at the beginning. Not much at all. But I soon got over it and now the only thing about her that's been racking on my nerves is that I haven't seen her in over a year now. :smirk2:

We had youth service last night. I had a man from church, a firefighter and trainer of other firefighters, teach. He started off with this quote: "Let no man's ghost return to say his training let him down." He went on to speak of the importance of training, and training ourselves right. Tremendous lesson.

I hope he REALLY knows what he's wanting to get into. Police work has been good to me, but it's nearly killed me too....Don't know that I'd recommend it for any person, especially a churchgoer, unless they have an extremely good walk with God. Just as long as he knows what he is getting into. I wanted it my entire life. And I won't lie, I HAVE enjoyed it immensely and feel that I have made a difference. I still like to run and gun and get a thrill anytime the blue lights are on, even after ten+ years.....But it nearly took me out of church and almost cost me my marriage. I hope he gets the opportuntiy and does better than I ever have in regards to keeping a walk with God.

Someone please say a prayer that I can keep my Dad OUT of our house today. He is determined to go in. We have already had a huge screaming match with me and him and mom this morning, that ended up with a call to Pastor. But he said he doesn't care what pastor or anyone says, he WILL go inside if he wants to.
I have no choice but to drive over there, but I refuse to help him inside.

and whoever else is having a rough morning. It's good to be challenged to be excercised in the fruit of the Spirit but it is NO fun really ever.
My morning is quiet, with Hannah looking like a burn patient from the poson ivy, and I'm trying to balance finances while still feeling like a Christian. *sigh* Did you realize there are more scriptures about finances than about love? How we handle money is so spiritual. We need financial freedom. So we can go on a mission trip or conference we feel led by the Lord to, so we can give more to the kingdom. Maybe I wouldn't be so concerned if I never asked God about homeschooling or world missions, or if I didn't listen to such good sermons on living beyond myself, not just in prayer. LOL God answers prayers!!! Wow. Ok. I basically just encouraged myself. hahaha

Chey drug me with her school to the county fair this morning, where I saw an old classmate and my high school Agri teacher, who I haven't saw in nearly twenty years. And I've ordered the part that I think my wretched Corvette needs.
Now- I'm caught up and I'm at the library. Yes- life is good. Especially since Bro Papa is reopening the BBQ shack today.(That last sentence was especially meant for Mini and Taco. Eat your heart out, I'll be eating BBQ Frito pie.) :fork:

So now almost everything is done. All that's left is my bathroom bag and switching to a different purse, then packing the car. I hope I sleep tonight. I feel like I'll have the before a big event sleepless excited night.
