P.f, I'll probably have it. I intend to at least provide the meat, ect. If someone else wants to bring something, though, it'll be more to eat..... :fork: I didn't mean that I thought y'all were gonna descend like a plague upon me.... :laughhard:
I've got my local butcher keeping me abreast of when pork butts are going on sale, and Bro Papa's gonna smoke 'em for me....I think we'll be alright. :thumbsup2:
I will of course bring the sandwich bread. And some thicker cut bread for Saturday's breakfast.
And myself of course. -1
Grandma is still a possible, will advise when she decides.
I'm in, but I won't cook! And for me not cooking, y'all should be happy happy! I will however, bring foodstuffs as needed, and contribute in any splitting of food costs we need to do.

P.S. The odds of my wife coming with me are looking pretty slim :sadbounce:
Pssst! Hey person-who-started-this-thread! Suggest you keep a running tally in the first post so we won't all have to scroll through all the threads to get a count.
The list so far:
Roscoe's gang, 3
Mini's gang, 4
Psalm_97's gang, 1 (possibly two, but don't put that in the first post until I know if Grandma's coming)
Newsman's gang, 1 (wife couldn't make it)
Fuzzy's gang, 2
:sadbounce:
Yeah, for real. I'm tempted to detour up there and kidnap y'all.

I'm on the list, so I don't need to add anything, right? I have a room at Day's Inn.

...and how about over in that attendee list we also add what you are bringing so we can see where the holes are?
An about 3lb. bag of onions
about 5?lbs. of sweet potatoes
a box of sweet corn, I'll shoot for 40?
Lemonade? It doesn't sound like anyone else drinks it though so maybe not?
Brownies
2 pies. Apricot and I don't know which else.
1 bottle of oil
zucchini & summer squash- We could grill it, saute it, bread it.. whatever else.
If something on there just won't get used then please tell me what you southerners would eat instead. (http://gfxlovers.com/smilies/imgs/girly/girly004.gif)
I have a 5 gallon cooler thing with a spout that I'll bring for water or whatever.
I love lemonade!
I dont know what i'm bringing yet... except my mom.
Make that lemonade with real lemons and honey. And then post Roscoe as a guard so I won't drink it all.
Roscoe and I have Saturday breakfast taken care of.
MellowYellow what are the onions, potatoes and etc. for? We should probably specify which meal we are covering, so we can see what day and what meal is left open.
And about that chili that we will not be eating Friday night because we'll be eating Bro. Papa's barbecue... How about a pot of chili for lunch Saturday? Get some gas before you have to drive home. :hypocrite:
I figured for fri night's sides & sat lunch?
I have a conf. starting tonight so I may not be able to keep up in here.
And I can't make enough of that kind of lemonade, Isaac. I would never use reg honey either, might as well be white sugar.
I think we need choices. Just because you say you have a meal taken care of doesn't mean it's something the rest of us eat.
I can't eat hot chili and neither can Chel. So we need to know what y'all are thinking.
What I'm bringing will not cover a whole meal, it'll just contribute. Others will still need to bring sides for Fri.night & Sat. Lunch at the very least.
Since there are stores, some of us could run & get things like milk, fruit, veggies, OJ, & whatever other sides they'd like.
As much as I like to cook, there would be fellowship & adventure to had, so I'm leaning toward EASY. If we are also doing Sat.lunch we want as little cleanup as possible.

we've posted the suggested Friday night menu- probably a light lunch such as sandwiches Friday and breakfast Saturday ...( french toast, maple syrup, meat- sausage, bacon, fried baloney).....only thing we haven't discussed is Thursday night meal for those arriving early and Saturday lunch...
I think Thursday folks could just grab something in town. ;) We'll help somehow, just gotta see what's needed.
We will be driving Thursday so we will grab a bite to eat somewhere on the way.

I don't do hot stuff either. My chili would be mild. If someone wants it hot it's a lot easier to add hot sauce to chili than to take it out of chili. ;)
Friday lunch could be turkey and/or ham sandwiches on sourdough bread, with maybe some good colby cheese from that country store I know of. As I have heard there are three Wal-Marts within half an hour of there, the turkey and ham should be easy for me to pick up on-site.
I'm bringing a dessert. And I can help with food prep. I can also contribute some money or donate some food stuffs for the cause as well. We really need to plan a concrete menu so we know what we have and what we need.
Sooo, I'm in the bachelor zone when I think, other than the Bro. Papa BBQ night, we could just wait til we get there, throw some money togther, and wing it for meals?
John :waving:
Newsman: I'm guessing you're not big on cooking. Two thirds of the fun is in plotting the meals.
And in addition to Friday night's barbecue, Saturday morning's breakfast is already plotted.
Yes on the not being a big cook (just big) and I honestly hadn't thought of meal-planning as fun, but happy planning, then! :thumbsup2:

Re: What everyone is bringing. I thought I'd list what we have and y'all can add whatever you'd like to bring. If this menu is not acceptable, let me know so we can try to accomadate you. I don't want anyone unable to eat or unhappy.

Also might consider paper plates, ect- I think Isaac mentioned he had this-
Meat- Roscoe
Coleslaw- Roscoe
Cheesecake- Roscoe (at least one)
Beans- Roscoe
Coleslaw- Roscoe
I got the disposable plates, cups, forks, spoons, etc... we'll be the landfill's worst nightmare.
Might oughta specify what "dinner" is. Around here it's lunch.
Might make that second post in this thread the "Where we are to date" post. Update it with the full list of who is coming, and full meal planner. So far we have a definite coverage on Friday night and Saturday morning.

Good point----- for "Dinner", I'm using that as the last meal of the day. AKA Suppertime around these parts. Lunch is lunch.
And speaking of lunch- I'm thinking sandwiches and chips at the campsite that I'm gonna get for those of us that ain't up to hiking ten miles on the trails.... Good? Bad?
Second post updated...
Sounds great.
I will go with the flow, eat, fast, or nibble... I'm good with whatever!

Sweet potatoes (and butter) - Melodyà

Pies, 1 apricot, 1 blueberry- Melodyà
Like that?
I was thinking I can prebake the potatoes and just heat them up when we get there. I'll have the corn shucked, halved too and a big pot to boil them in. I was trying to think of an easy side that could travel so I'll have my zucchini/squash all sliced up, seasoned (some with red pepper and onions, parmesean, and some without) and I'll bring my cast iron skillet to sauté them in. All in all, I'm hoping to use as little kitchen time and space as possible but let me know if that's still too much occupancy. We don't eat baked beans or coleslaw or most of the common picnic salads, that's also why I'm trying to bring corn and veggie mix. I'll also bring some disposable serving pan thingys for what I'm making and some contractor bags for trash.
Here's my question: Is that enough?
For Saturday AM, I will probably run to the local Wallyworld and get some fresh fruit, juice, whatever ect. may intail. My family will love Isaac's breakfast I know! It sounds like there will be plenty other stuff for me to choose from as well. Thank the good Lord I can eat meat! LOL
It sounds like most people are leaving before lunch on Saturday? So I'm not sure what we'll do. We may just go explore the mountain and be out of your hair (http://urduart.com/gallery/data/682/girly025_2.gif) Roscoe.

A watched calendar never gets there... or something like that.
MellowYellow sounds good to me. I like veggies more than most people anyway. (My reality was even questioned in chat one time - someone wondered if I was real or a computer program because I bake, like veggies and don't like fast food.) But change "explore the mountains" to "explore the local thrift stores." I have a habit of wiping them out of all their christian music. :freaky2:
