Title: got a monitor i need help with
Post by: Babs on March 11, 2011, 02:08:50 AM
someone recently gave me a Samsung SyncMaster 914V 19 Inch LCD Monitor

it has a very good picture and for tv shows and movies its great! i downloaded the drivers for it and works like a charm.

problem i have is, its almost square :yikes: (or so it seems)

the actual screen measurements are 12' tall, and 15' wide.

my problem is, its great for watching any kind of video, but cant read or view webpages on it at all. the resolution is way out of proportion and i cant seem to make one work right.

1280x1024 is what i have it on right now, but none of the choices make it seem the right proportions

any ideas?

Beats me.  Your computer should config automatically.  Given your experience with computers it's probably safe to assume you have already tried anything I can suggest.

What's your OS?  And have you tried rebooting?  Sometimes external monitors only work right if they are connected at startup.

yeah, i have been using it for a couple of weeks now. really like the picture, just wish i could do something besides watch videos on it.

its strange, because its not really square, but seems that way when you try to video websites or documents. everything is very out of proportion and distorted.

i have done all the tricks i know to do lol

may just have to live with it. its running xp

Shucks. I thought this was going to be another "pick on cheesey" thread.
