Title: Scriptures on your mind
Post by: Tricia Lea on June 23, 2010, 02:04:27 PM
Ever just get a a scripture stuck in your head

I thought it might be nice to start a thread where everyone could share if they wanted

This is one that has been on my mind lately

Jeremiah 33
1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

2 Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;

3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Isaiah 55

6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 40:31 (King James Version)

31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Romans 8 (Amplified Bible) 18[But what of that?]
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (this present
life) are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be
revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us!

Romans 8 (Amplified Bible)

31What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]

32He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?

33Who shall bring any charge against God's elect [when it is] God Who justifies [that is, Who puts us in right relation to Himself? Who shall come forward and accuse or impeach those whom God has chosen? Will God, Who acquits us?]

34Who is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us?

35Who shall ever separate us from Christ's love? Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation? Or calamity and distress? Or persecution or hunger or destitution or peril or sword?

36Even as it is written, For Thy sake we are put to death all the day long; we are regarded and counted as sheep for the slaughter.

37Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.

38For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers,

39Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

 1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh,
      Justified in the Spirit,
      Seen by angels,
      Preached among the Gentiles,
      Believed on in the world,
      Received up in glory.

Psalm 91
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

When my alarm went off this morning, I popped right up and turned it off. Immediately this scripture came into my mind.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

I can't remember ever having scripture be the first thing on my mind. Normally, other than how much I'd love to go back to sleep, the first thing on my mind is what I have to do that day. And sometimes a song.

‎2 Corinthians 10 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

This has really been on my mind lately. We have power to fight we just have to choose to use it, instead of trying to do it on our own

2 Timothy 2:22 Shun youthful lusts and
flee from them, and aim at and pursue righteousness (all that is
virtuous and good, right living, conformity to the will of God in
thought, word, and deed); [and aim at and pursue] faith, love, [and]
peace (harmony and concord with others) in fellowship with all
[Christians], who call upon the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 But refuse (shut your mind against, have nothing to do with) trifling (ill-informed, unedifying, stupid) controversies over ignorant questionings, for you know that they foster strife and breed quarrels.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome (fighting and contending). Instead, he must be kindly to everyone and mild-tempered [preserving the bond of peace]; he must be a skilled and suitable teacher, patient and forbearing and willing to suffer wrong.
25He must correct his opponents with courtesy and gentleness, in the hope that God may grant that they will repent and come to know the Truth [that they will perceive and recognize and become accurately acquainted with and acknowledge it],
26And that they may come to their senses [and] escape out of the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him, [henceforth] to do His [God's] will.

This has been running through my mind almost daily after being in Guatemala with the indigenous Mayans... and after seeing how the catholic church is mixed in with shamanism... and seeing a bit of their rituals... how to explain that the True God they're searching for is the God of the Bible... and to leave behind their superstitions and demonic rituals... *hmmmm*

Acts 17:22-34 KJV
(22)  Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
(23)  For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
(24)  God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
(25)  Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
(26)  And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
(27)  That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
(28)  For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
(29)  Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
(30)  And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
(31)  Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
(32)  And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.
(33)  So Paul departed from among them.
(34)  Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

Joshua 1
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Deuteronomy 31
6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

7 And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

8 And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed

Eze 24:3  And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
4  Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.
5  Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.
6  Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.
7  For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
8  That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
9  Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
10  Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.
11  Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.

‎Lamentations 3
22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

Psalm 97
1THE LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles and coastlands be glad!

2Clouds and darkness are round about Him [as at Sinai]; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.(A)

3Fire goes before Him and burns up His adversaries round about.

4His lightnings illumine the world; the earth sees and trembles.

5The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

6The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory.

7Let all those be put to shame who serve graven images, who boast in idols. Fall prostrate before Him, all you gods.(B)

8Zion heard and was glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoiced [in relief] because of Your judgments, O Lord.

9For You, Lord, are high above all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods.

10O you who love the Lord, hate evil; He preserves the lives of His saints (the children of God), He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.(C)

11Light is sown for the [uncompromisingly] righteous and strewn along their pathway, and joy for the upright in heart [the irrepressible joy which comes from consciousness of His favor and protection].

12Rejoice in the Lord, you [consistently] righteous (upright and in right standing with God), and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.

Zec 4:6b   ... Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

Tony Bailey, who is being used wonderfully by God here, this wknd; said that the word "spirit" (notice the little 's') means: mindset of God.  Another words, it's accomplished by having the mindset of Christ, not sitting back and watching a miracle happen.  God DOES do miracles but that is not what this particular scripture means.

It struck me interesting b/c I was just reading how Solomon's wisdom caused him to have such an organized kingdom that he was able to accomplish great things, it made Queen Sheba awestruck.  The character of God is not all spontaneous, there is meticulous organization when wisdom is present.  As a list maker, I like that!

Psalm 9

1I WILL praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth (recount and tell aloud) all Your marvelous works and wonderful deeds!

2I will rejoice in You and be in high spirits; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High!

3When my enemies turned back, they stumbled and perished before You.

4For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat on the throne judging righteously.

5You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever.

6The enemy have been cut off and have vanished in everlasting ruins, You have plucked up and overthrown their cities; the very memory of them has perished and vanished.

7But the Lord shall remain and continue forever; He has prepared and established His throne for judgment.(A)

8And He will judge the world in righteousness (rightness and equity); He will minister justice to the peoples in uprightness.(B)

9The Lord also will be a refuge and a high tower for the oppressed, a refuge and a stronghold in times of trouble (high cost, destitution, and desperation).

10And they who know Your name [who have experience and acquaintance with Your mercy] will lean on and confidently put their trust in You, for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek (inquire of and for) You [on the authority of God's Word and the right of their necessity].

11Sing praises to the Lord, Who dwells in Zion! Declare among the peoples His doings!

12For He Who avenges the blood [of His people shed unjustly] remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the afflicted (the poor and the humble).

13Have mercy upon me and be gracious to me, O Lord; consider how I am afflicted by those who hate me, You Who lift me up from the gates of death,

14That I may show forth (recount and tell aloud) all Your praises! In the gates of the Daughter of Zion I will rejoice in Your salvation and Your saving help.

15The nations have sunk down in the pit that they made; in the net which they hid is their own foot caught.

16The Lord has made Himself known; He executes judgment; the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands. Higgaion [meditation]. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

17The wicked shall be turned back [headlong into premature death] into Sheol (the place of the departed spirits of the wicked), even all the nations that forget or are forgetful of God.

18For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the expectation and hope of the meek and the poor shall not perish forever.

19Arise, O Lord! Let not man prevail; let the nations be judged before You.

20Put them in fear [make them realize their frail nature], O Lord, that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

Mat 6:25 Therefore I tell you, stop being  perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?
Mat 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?
Mat 6:27 And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the  span of his life?
Mat 6:28 And why should you be anxious about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field and  learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin.
Mat 6:29 Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his  magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these.
Mat 6:30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith?
Mat 6:31 Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear?
Mat 6:32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.
Mat 6:33 But seek ( aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness ( His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
Mat 6:34 So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.
