Oh Promise Me
Hearts and Flowers
The Sidewalks of New York
The Band Played On
A Hot Time In The Old Town
:o Oh goodness......BOL I was born in the 80's. I remember vcrs, pagers, The Labyrinth, Flight of the Navigator - I've got both on DVD. Ponytails to the side. Hypercolour t-shirts. slap-bands, Punky Brewster, and everything in neon. Farewell the 80s I don't miss you one bit...well...ok, maybe a few things
Ya know, I wasn't into popular music at that time, so I know next to nothing about 80s music.
Did anyone else have a pogo ball? I had to use mine barefooted and I would get blisters on the inside of my feet!
:sing: Shot thru the heart, and you're to blame, Baby you gave loveeee, a bad name, bad name, bad name.... :sing:
:o
Oops!
:couch:
I remember being happy the 90s came along and thinking people had repented of the 80s fashions and we'd never be subjected to them again..... *looks around* :-? at this rate I'll see the 80s come back 2 or 3 more times in my lifetime :o
Some 80's fads
Leg warmers
Swatch
Rubik's cube
Strawberry Shortcake
Care bears
Jellys
Simon
Day glo stuff
Scrunch socks
Spandex
Friendship bracelets
Terry cloth sweat bands
Slap bracelets
Ripped jeans
Valley Girls
Where's the Beef?
Pacman
Nintendo
Koosh balls
Boom boxes
Any more? ? ? ?
i was only around for 7 years of the 80s, but boy did i love it!
i still have a carebears pillow case

bon jovi, prince, and journey will always have a place on my itunes
i will find a good deal on The Facts of Life of DVD if it's the last thing i do

I got to tape Facts of Life (A lot of them, anyway) when I was babysitting. I have them on VCR Loved that show.

I still have an original, working Nintendo and some games.
I was born in '79 so I was an 80's kid essentially. The only problem with remembering 80's things sometimes is that all the 70's shows and stuff were on as reruns..lol So I remember a lot of those.
I remember the smurfs (cause I wasn't allowed to watch them...lol) She-ra, He-man, and the power of gray skull! lol
I had a Rainbow Brite doll and a strawberry shortcake friend who's breath smelled like some sweet desert.
Big bangs, top ponytails, plastic adornment of every kind.
Lip gloss for kids seemed to have become big in the 80's I think for.
folding over jean cuffs and rolling them, whatever it was called.
cut off sweatshirts, ugh! the worst look EVER. especially when added to those MC hammer pants. those were so awful...lol
Mr.T and the whole WWF toy line, every boy seemed obsessed with them.
Feathered hair lasted into the 80's, waaay too long if you ask me...lol
hilarious!
Ms. Pac Man!!! Oh YEAH!
Mom and I used to play at the grocery store after we checked out. If we got ice cream, that wasn't always a good thing. lol
I liked feathered hair. Farrah had it! :laughhard:
Fat Boys (Remember a kid getting in trouble cause they had bad lyrics)
Garbage Pail Kids (Thought they were disgusting)
Animal Claw Monster Trucks (had "claws" that popped out of the wheels for when the going got tough.)
MicroMachines!
Nintendos (I wanted one so bad...)
Sis, if you have the box it originally came in, you could makesome big bucks on eBay.
garbage pail kids lol, I remember those
Rainbow Brite! He man and She-Ra and the smurfs, we used to watch the latter three so often lol. We even had a video of the Smurfs in Greek! LOL

**Still a classic**
but you have to do it WITH the arm movements or it's not the same!!
couldnt find a smiley face for that song... lol
Gumby, Jetsons and the Flintstones go WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY further back than the 80's. They were in reruns then.
They had video games at the laundromat? None of them around me had any! I feel left out! ROFL
they swapped em out between Rampage, Ms. PacMan, and Galaga
MZ Pacman is my fav but I liked Centepede, too!
One other song I liked in the 80s was "Hey Mickey" by Toni Basil
I loved Duck hunt
Also loved Galitica, Ms Pacman and Centepede
Some differnt hair styles I had in the 80s lol

anyone else want to post their 80s pics
...I could post my 80s pics....but I'd be either bald or have really short hair....I was born in '84....started kindergarten(do you know...it only just struck me that that's a German word) in '89...so most of my childhood ws more '90s....I don't know if this was solely an Aussie program...but has anyone heard of Mr. DooBee and the Romper Room? Also has anyone heard of Puddle Lane?....We used to watch that religiously and had the books as well.
I saw something last night that was out of the 90's (I know we are talking about the 80's)....remember when guys wore their braided leather belts and kinda let the end of it down and let it hang down about 8 inches on their leg?
Saw a kid last night who was desperately trying to look way cool doing the same thing with a cloth belt. Made me want to laugh while slapping the fire outta him for looking so stupid. LOL Anyone knows you can only pull that off with a LEATHER belt!

The 80's....
The best music decade ever! Creative use of synthesizers and electronic keyboards as well as the death of disco. And it all happened before the HORRIBLE Hip/Hop 90's! Honestly how many Maria Carey songs can you hum in the shower????

Never Ending Story I loved the movie and the music
That story made me sad, and inspired all in the same moment, and although the sequels were good, not sure that they would measure up to the first.
Between that story and the Chronicles of Narnia, I was transformed into a book worm.
i graduated in 1984 and came into the church in 1986.
so i have an odd mix of 80 memories. i won't post pics. the only ones i have are BC and not very nice. well. maybe i'll see if i can find my graduation pic. i think i may have posted it on facebook.
and the reason you don't remember many music videos from the 80s is because that's when they really started to groove on MTV. first one i ever saw was for 99 Luft Balloons. anyone remember that? and not far behind was Michael Jackson and Thriller, Billie Jean.
anyone remember doing The Freak with Chic?
as for REO speedwagon . . oh my word! do i ever remember that? you can tuna piano, but you can't tuna fish. :pwink:
other music . . . the Police, Sting, The CARS!!
Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult (i taught my grandbabies to sing the chorus to that as we knock blocks down . . . hee hee . . . :pwink:)

Carmen drove my dad INSANE. He hated him...lol
One day, I was on yahoo christian music, and was horrified to see a band named "STRYPER." I thought how in the world could they label them a "christian" band and call themselves Stryper (stripper)...then a few weeks later my pastor was preaching and said something about Stryper (stripe-er). It was a major light bulb moment...LOL
