Wellll, that nickname reminds me an awful lot of that girl at mom's work who wore that "Dubble Bubble" shirt... and had some stuff to back it up. Soooo, I'm not so keen on that nic. K,thx. :freaky2:
Rabbit-cat... see, I have to be careful what I admit here because we'll be meeting some people who could use certain weaknesses* to their advantage. I've never, ever, ever wanted to go outside after dark* to do ANYTHING! However, this particular time there was no other option. I don't really remember why, I just know that I had to go. So I did. And we have a bajillion rabbits around our house, and those, along with the occasional cat, are always nosing through our backyard at night. (And sometimes a 'possum.) Well, I was hurrying through what I need to do when I heard this distinctive scurrying sound behind me and I just forgot it and ran. When I got in the house I was pretty shook up and my Mom and Chel were wanting to know why and I said really fast that there was a rabbit-cat outside; meaning one or the other. In any case, since some people don't let certain things DIE, this has become the catch-all label for "things that go bump in our backyard."
I think Bubbles is a good nic for you. ;)
Like mother like daughter. :P
I wonder if there are any rabbit-cats in Oklahoma... :o

What's the best prank you've ever pulled on Chel?
In what ways are you and Chel alike?
In what ways are you opposite?

:beret:
Well, for the prank thing, we're usually in it together. She knows me better than anyone else, so I try not to "prank" her that much, she has too much dirt on ME. :D lol.
HOWEVER, I have a great idea for when we get to Oklahoma if anyone's interested! We are alike in many ways... Long brown hair, brown eyes, Cajun babies, know how to go up and talk to perfect strangers easily (though she's better at that,) have friends in MANY places, we want God to be the priority in our life, we both see traveling in our future, family is VERY important to us, we both write poetry and take pictures (though hers are better).... and it goes on and on.
BUT
We are also opposite in lots of ways. Chel is more extroverted, more happy-go-lucky, while I tend to be more pensive and less self assured. I've found my Prince Charming, she's still trusting God on that one. Her hair is naturally a beautiful straight and mine is naturally a horrendous kinky. :D She's a *little less organized than I am. *ahem. I focus more on grammar and matching colors while she focuses more on putting her heart in her pen and seeing the big picture. I can be more critical while she tends to focus on flawed humanity as a way to be Jesus to someone. Her natural inclination in life is to thrive while mine leans more towards surviving. She really ENJOYS life and many times I have to fight to get past the "stuff." She's a Mary in a Martha world, I have a lot to learn from her.

Actually MANY people have spent more than a day with Chel and lived to tell about it... she's DEFINITELY a people person! That means she's always spending days with random groups of people while her parents would rather her be cleaning her room. hehe.
Oh, yeah, we also have similar voices... Hehe... We've only used that on a few guys. Namely, my husband before he was my husband and I can think of at least two others. :D
Well, the kids like to ride on the roof, especially on the freeway, so, just about any medium-sized car will do! I prefer a stretched Volkswagon Beetle. Hehe!
Methinks you were way too hard on yourself in your observations there.
*listens closely to the fine print* ;)
:beret:
I'd rather take pictures and be innocent, Dina.
I'll hold Chel's camera and take lots of pictures, okay?

Sorry Dina, didn't see this thread before.
Do you like cats or dogs? Cats! They generally clean up after themselves and don't slobber all over you!
Do you prefer small towns or large cities? Since I've grown up in a small town, that's what I'm familiar with and prefer at the moment.
What color would you want your kitchen painted? Depends on how much wall there was. If there were just little places around cabinets, I'd go with a Tuscany copper-like color. If it were more like a whole wall I'd tone it down and accent with that color.
Do you like barbeque or baked chicken better? Hmmm... If I HAD to choose, BBQ. Especially if my dad smokes it in his big 'ole smoker!
Do you like chicken or beef better? Chicken!
Ever been to a restaurant where they cook your food at the table? A few times. Those places are generally more expensive than I want to spend.
Do you like oranges or apples better? Depends... I crave oranges when I have a cold but I love apples, especially in desserts! :freaky2:
Do you ever compare apples to oranges? I try not to. How about apples to apples?
What is your favorite color? Orange!
Who is your hero? My parents for staying together for so long even though they are both very human and have faults.
Do you like being a mommy? Most of the time. I'm learning just how selfish I am. It's an humbling experience.
How many children would you and Ben like to have? 4
What is your middle name? I'm not saying online :D
What did people call you when you were a child? DeeDee
Do you have a favorite song? I have several that I like. Since I was little when I get scared I sing "In the name of Jesus, In the name of Jesus, We have the victory..."
Favorite verse of scripture? Isaiah 41 and "Our Rock is not as their rock, even our enemies themselves being judge."
Favorite book of the Bible? James
Favorite children's song? :sing: "Plan your work, work your plan, God will never bless a lazy man! First you pray, plan your day, and don't forget to go to work!"
:bigcheese: Yay, questions!

Since this question requires quite a bit of depth in several dimensions, please don't expect a complete answer. The most attractive quality was his desire to do what he believed God requires in living right. Other things were his self confidence, good phone voice, dark handsome looks, intelligence and musical and multilingual abilities. It helps that we were both Literature majors and have a lot of common ground there. He is also a decidedly calm person, which balances my high-strung nature. Oh, and he didn't believe in Christmas trees.

We have a yellow volleyball from WalMart that we've been using to play with Miss Priss. We roll it back and forth and chase it and lately we'll roll it and she'll bring it back to us. Tonight while we were playing, my husband rolled it to her and said "Bring me the ball!" like usual and she bent to get it. She was almost all the way down and she suddenly said "bye-bye" and waved at the ball and ran away gleefully. :) It was really funny.

We went to the zoo while we were dating, too. We've gone there several times since we've been married, too... it's just something that's clean fun to do that involves some exercise at the same time! Other things we enjoy include bowling (though we're not very good,) PuttPutt, Bookstore browsing, Coffee sampling, and traveling to Spanish-speaking countries in particular!
Dina, sounds like we have a LOT in common :thumbsup2:

Fireworks can be horribly romantic. lol They can also be awesome fun. Around here they can be COLD!!!! Well, not the fireworks themselves, but the weather while we're watching them can be! lol
Who is going to Paris? B? Or Ben?
Ben. If it's cold you have a good excuse to snuggle. :D

Do you like to go on walks?
Yes. I don't prefer to be in the muggy, humid outdoors of East Texas, but I LOVED going on walks in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Even though they DID have hills that were almost vertical. I have problems going too fast and not always appreciating the surroundings, but just getting into the movement and where. I. need. to. be. for goodness sakes!
are you excited about going to Guatemala with me?
VERY much so! Maybe we could make a user friendly, most common medical terms dictionary before we go to help out the nurses we can't be with. With pronunciations.
:D
that would be cool... i have the notes from last time from somewhere...
what is your fav memory of getting me in trouble?
when do i get to see you guys again?
Well, there was this time when I used a crayon on the wall and when Dad found it, I convinced you to say that you'd done it. I promise, that wuppin' you got really did hurt me more than it hurt you. I never forgot it and I didn't do that ever again either.
When you come over? Are you off for Ariel's first birthday party?
haha, i remember getting that whippin, but i couldnt remember what it was for.
and i remember that time that we all had to bite that piece of paper cause someone bit a picture... did he ever find out who did that one? i know it wasnt me... my teeth didnt match... thats when i was still way bucktoothed...

Well, at our after-church dinner Sunday, the 10 year old girl I've mentioned before whose mother passed away several months ago was sitting next to her father. I asked if I could sit next to her, and after being seated, told her I had wanted to sit next to a beautiful young lady, which she seemed to like.
She twice shook her head negatively, though, when I asked her if she thought I was the Grumpyest of the Grumpye.
Hmmppphhhh!!!!!

Hey Dina... in another thread you said:
Quote from: iridiscente on March 27, 2009, 01:18:00 AM
Isn't respect, be definition, something you earn? There is a respect for human life in general: I don't go up and kick a bum that's sitting in the street, but does he automatically have my respect? No.
Why wouldn't you go up and kick a bum that's sitting in the street? Wouldn't that decision be based on respect that he's a fellow human being who is made in the image of God?
:beret:
Like my mom said, there are different types of respect. Just because I don't overtly attack him doesn't mean I will heed his financial advice either. We're made in the image of God, sure, but mankind has very far fallen from any spiritual resemblance.
What actions equal respect? I don't think respect is some great show of anything, but rather, the lack of a show of selfishness and pride in that I'm not above or below you and being so, I should be polite to you. This applies to everyone. Pastors, kids, bums. Respect, the kind that all deserve, just equals politeness, and self-restraint.
There are other types of respect, however. The bible says that some are worthy of "double honor." You should read it's definition to see who that applies to:
1 Timothy 5:16-18 (New International Version)
16If any woman who is a believer has widows in her family, she should help them and not let the church be burdened with them, so that the church can help those widows who are really in need.
17The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 18For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages."
In other words, I think this level of respect may go beyond being polite, to actually heeding their advice if the Spirit confirms it after prayer. I do not think, however, that ANYONE besides God deserves the level of respect that unquestioningly heeds.
