Post by: Sis on April 29, 2008, 04:15:55 AM
How are ya?

Do you always take Mrs Yo on your trips?

Do you like being a trucker?

Is your yard getting put together?

What did yall think of Mom and Bro Dad?

Will you be going back to NC to visit more often?

Who do you drive for?

How long have you been driving?

Do you haul hazardous stuff or freight?

Do you enjoy being OTR?

i used to love trucking! i've been all over us. i usually go to south carolina and north carolina. i drive for a mattress co. called capital bedding. the co. has split into two groups factory and trucking div.. the trucking div. is called ww/trucking. most sholl nuff drivers wouldnt call this a trucking job. i'm home too much to be a legendary trucker. but i can put most of the wet behind the ears drivers to shame. i still drive for 8-13 hrs straight and put off a stop then go to the next one,etc.,etc.. when i'm on the road i generally work about 24-30 hrs before i rest. this messes a person up. my appetite is off, sleep pattern is off,and puts me in a slump when i get home. i've been driving for about 15yrs OTR. have driven a truck all my life, since i could reach pedals. dad let me drive an old dump buckett around home some when i was about 10. now 40.  i do not and will not haual haz mat. there are too many thing to go wrong with that and ticketts for haz mat loads are high.
mrs.yo goes on ocasion, not all the time. she is currently looking for a job but hasnt found one since Ms is so slow right now.
i will definatly be going back to NC to visit. bro.dad and sis.mom are cool. i like them alot.

hahaha!!! yard is coming along very well, although mrs.yo is getting tired of mowing already. i guess i could help a little, but id miss to much GP....LOL
should i put a thread up for trip locations to see if others would be able to meet.what would i call it. leeettts seee.  what about on the road again. ROFL
while on the road i have taken many nice pictures of the western landscape, the cross at groom,tx,and many city skylines. i even have one of statue of liberty-you can just barely make it out with a magnifing glass.  i guess i like driving alright, but i like it at home better. too much stuff going on in the world right now to be safe on the road. i talked about this a little on bible guestions-awaken started by onli-one-johovi. i also have xm radio and enjoy listening to conspiracy talk radio while driving to keep me awake. i know a lot of this is fiction but there are a lot of interesting questions being talked about. for more info on the current financial and government conspiracies look at prison planet.com or coast to coast am.com, C.toC. am is a variety conspiracy talk ranging all over the spectrum-aliens and such. i also like family talk channel and enlighten gospel music channel.
                                             thnx yo-allen

Road rage? ;)
Title: Re: Ask Mr & Mrs Yosemite
Post by: yosemite on May 05, 2008, 07:35:00 PM
some times the road gets to me when im to involved in it. i have driven enuff to predict what people are gonna do,but when i start to concentrate on that i get raged. i can tell by the way a person drives what they will do. some take too many chances. i've been cut off short, people stop short in front of me, people stay in blind spot, blinded by high beams-this irritates me to no end. people think because we dont have a back glass we arent botherd by high beams- we are by way of our mirrors. another thing i cant stand is when they insist on riding right beside me. if i had a blow out on a tire beside them it would demolish their car. just because we have more tires and brakes dont let yourself be deceived, 80,000 pounds cant stop quickly. at an average interstate speed it would take almost a quarter of a mile to come to a complete stop safely. i could give a lot of tips on how to drive when near a truck. vacation season is hear and some need them when driving a camper or rv.                 thnx-yo

That's interesting. Never heard it from a trucker's perspective before. I didn't think my highs would even REACH your mirrors. And I can't stand driving next to a truck. Want to be either ahead or way behind. Got into an accident (a minor one, everyone was fine) because of a trucker and black ice. *Shivers*  Truckers just can't hear the horns on little cars.

Post by: yosemite on May 06, 2008, 04:47:35 PM
yeah!! i got tips but fear i might offend some one that has a grudge against trucks. but will give a few.

1.trucks are tall and can see over you and cars in front of you so in rain, fog or general bad weather they can see alot better than you and will get in left lane so they can travel at their normal highway speed.-avoid left lane at all costs during this weather or at least get in and out of this lane quickly. remember trucks are tall. while you are in your car in the rain your getting road spray and the rain,we only get rain.(unless following another big truck)
some times you will see a truck following another truck too close and is wrong to do so but they are probly keeping in comunication on cb radio.

2. it is vacation time. roads will be packed with people trying to go fast. when speed limit is 70 drop to 65-68mls hr and you wont have to make a lot of lane changes and odds drop of having an accident. let the wild ones go!!  avoid clusters-bunched up traffic. this is a potential road rage gathering and people tend to make bad judgement here.

3. fridaynights and saturdaynights are always bad for partygoers. from 6-10pm
people are going to parties. 12-4am they are leaving them and may be intoxicated. be carefull and expect the unexpected. it is the season for kids to be out and about with graduation and summer comming on.

4.trucks headlights will always seem bright since they are at eye level when you are in your car. dont blind them with high beams to get him to dim cause if they are dim just think how much more your gonna be blinded when he shows you his actual high beams. now both of you are blinded!!
(truckers have a little trick they use to see street signs. we tilt the right light to the right and upward a little.) this cause a person to think driver has a weak light on right and bright light on left.

ok thats enuff for today.    whats the tape for? give us your oppion too!!
                     thanks yosemite-allen

always witnessing road rage whether it be by bad dicisions or accident havnt seen a phisical road rage incident. once a driver was trying to back into a parking place at a truck stop when another driver sliped in and stole his place this led to a cb fight where the victom said he was going to cut the theif-theif called the cops and victom went to jail on terrorist charges.
i generally bow out to these arguments and let them have what they want. i like my tires and being able to drive out of the truckstop vrs. flat tires and water in fuel, and mean little tricks like that.
it used to be that drivers were freindly and curtious,hospitable-not so much anymore. this is why i go to places i know are safe. i stay away from rest areas and tight truck stops more so if they have a reputation for meaness.

one old timer trick even i used to do is colored popcorn in stacks.LOL

I know driving a truck is tougher, but sometimes I drive a bus.  One thing I always hate is when, you are getting ready to backup, and someone who can't wait drives right past the back of your vehicle, right when you start back.

Also, There are no brakes on the passenger side! There is also no horn on the passenger side!  :yikes: If you hear a heavy thumping. It's not Yosemite's sound system. It's just me stomping my brakes. There have been times I was in the sleeper taking a nap when all of a sudden I found myself slammed in the floor against the cab console and wondering if anything is broken. It's very dangerous and scary out there when youre on the road constantly. You have more near misses than the average Joe. If it hadnt been for God's protection, We'd probably both be dead right now.

I have drove alot of times. People get up beside you and just mosey along. Then you have a turtle in front doing about 40 on the interstate. And a idiot beside you talking on the phone. You lose all your speed and can't pull all the weight uphill. When you finally do see a place where you can get around them, they speed up trying not to let you pass. Then when they cut you off and get in front of you, they just STOP! I guess they think that load behind the truck is going to stop too. The cargo has no brakes. lol

There are so many people who do not have a clue how they are flirting with death. I know there are alot guys who do not need to be behind the wheel of a semi. There are alot of bad truckers who give the safe truckers a bad reputation. Everyone always focuses on the bad.  Nobody really talks about all the goodhearted truckers who gave their own lives to keep from hitting schoolbuses, teenagers and elderly people. But there are also alot of people who cause innocent truckdrivers to have to die because of their ignorant mistakes.  Not that much respect out there for trucks.  :worry: There is so much information that people need about trucks that has never been taught to them. You could die just by riding too close to one if the tire blows.

Everyone also needs to take in mind the theory of the NO ZONE. The no zone is a blind spot  and a very dangerous area for a car to be. The driver can not see an immediate and present danger to you. When a Semi is passing in the left, he tries to give himself enough clearance from the vehicle he's passing before he moves back in. So dont be a wild child and pass in the right while the trucker is trying to move back over.  :thumbsup2:

Been there...done that....all the time. I got two hours on sunday and then pulled a 12 hour shift at my stupid job. Then didnt sleep well all day monday, bad dreams and restlessness, and then had to go to work again. But Tuesday, I took care of THAT little problem, and I am better now.

next time we visit i hope we have time to rest, shower and visit longer. seems every one was tired and goofy.(not up to par) of course I'm always a little goofy!! LOL

found out bro dad proposed on the third day- i told him if Jesus could rise to life on third day,he could to.  they are great. they are great together. we miss them already!! glad we have GP!!

i admit, bro dad and i got off on a rocky start, which led me to study what he said and found he was right. he has helped me straighten out my path and has become a part of my journey. a picture has a thousand words but none could describe that memory,it will be treasured.
bro dad and sis mom are definitely letting their little light shine,i thank God for them. *sighs*
wish we could meet all here, especially all of like faith.
                     sincerely thanks,            Allen and Symanthia

Title: Re: Ask Mr & Mrs Yosemite
Post by: yosemite on August 21, 2008, 02:47:14 PM
it was kindof a message bro dad delivered to sis mattox to make a pie.  it was combined in the message bro dad delivered to the congregation. it seems to have worked too! last night we had fellowship visitation after church. everybody didnt just get up and run off. we all sat around talking to one another, then some got to cleaning a little on the church getting ready for our home comeing service.

That is what I told Sis. Sam (or Bro. Dad, I don't remember who) I thought the pie was about, bonding. We can't have a bond without serving one another. Once someone does something for another person with no strings attached, one selfless act, being totally obedient, it will show others that someone really cares and that act of service can start others doing the same thing. Next thing you know, you could have everyone puttting themselves aside and just doing things for each other and needs will be met. Kind of like in the book of Acts when everyone brought what they had and it was shared and nobody was lacking, except in this case it's with serving one another. If you don't have money to give, you always have something you can give or do for someone.

our church is notorious for members not haveing much to do with one another. the only time we hear from one another is at church and right after service they all haul buggy out of there. we only have about 10-12 members and we hardly know one another. and most of us are even kin or we have grown up around one another.

during alter call it lead into a prayer service for certain ones whosoever desired. this is when bro dad had a call to tell sis mattox to make a pie and sis sharon said she liked pie and bro dad said maybe the pie was for her, so the pie was to be shared with her. in anycase the pie was a spell breaker and chipped away at the ice. after church lastnight we all hung around and talked and shared and even cleaned on the church.

* Wash my mouth out with soap * it up and do like Mom said and make Sister French a pie.  Why are you making it so hard.  As I read this post and saw the conversation between you and Brother Yo I got chill bumps.  I ran and got Sister Mom because of the conversations she has been having with you.  When I told the Sister to bake a pie I did not know why.  All I knew was God told me to tell her to make a pie.  But as I am reading this and knowing how you have felt lately I ran and got Mom and showed her what God was doing to Melody.  Now as Brother Yo said go bake that pie.  You will be surprised how good you will feel.

No Sister Melody needs to make a pie for Sister French.  Sister French is a sweet old lady in the Church where Melody goes.  Sister French is hard as nails when it comes to living for God.  But she is so full of wisdom and love.

we dont hate we appreciate. he just simply means to fellowship with your sister. if we spread the love(pay it forward) we might receive the blessings that were for us to begin with, and not miss out. maybe we can acheive a sence of inner peace that God has for us as we serve others in Jesus name.

we are not singling you out many need to see this. i dont know ya so i dont know if this applies to ya. just that sister mattox got a blessing out of humble pie.

Well it sure feels like punishment when I am all isolated and feel like that my closest friends dont care anymore, and that I sometimes feel that God Himself doesnt care, and I just want to die and get it all over with. maybe hes refering to more than just payment from a paycheck

just my guess

of course that was what i meant. spiritual blessings. not just the physical blessings. to me bro dad and sis mom have the power that the apostles had,(in which was given by God) they can overshadow someone and they are just filled with love and joy. it seems where ever they go they are begged to return. thats great and a testimony unto its self. i don't think it is so much bro dad and sis mom as it is the spirit they bring with them inside of them.

its just like what i said on the other thread where i know it is a struggle to live by faith and endure to the end, bro dad and sis mom do it seemingly effortlessly. though at times I'm sure bro dad and sis mom have to struggle and endure but it is wonderfull to see God at work in their lives. to see them blessed in so many ways is better than any paycheck could ever be.

i heard a guy say recently life isn't meant to be endured but enjoyed. i don't hold that view. the bible said those that endure to the end shall be free. we must endever to persevere and endure to the end. we must fight the good fight. but i digress! anywho love ya ll God bless. -yo

this post may help sister.(i hope) sometimes God lets us get to the dumps. it all depends on how hard headed we are. i have been bucking God's will also and have been very moody and hard to get along with, not to mention the bills keep rolling in and getting higher and higher and i know it is because God is dealing with me and i dont heed the call. i dont think God screams at us to get our attention, he just lets us get to where we need him. then he has our undevided attention.

like i said God dont scream at us he lets us do as we will and when we get out of our will he will do his work thru us. we must endure thru the valleys and on the mountain side.

i heard a sermon from brother Denton of new albany, ms a while back that said:
(member of church)
brother i dont know if i can go on, God has put me on the ruff side of the mountain.
(pastor)
well praise God for the ruff side of the mountain. he could have put you on the slick side. at least on the ruff side you have something to hold on to.

hold on Mel. endever to persaveer, endure to the end, fight the good fight. -yo

Luke 6:31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.
33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Melody Mom said to post this.  She said while Sister French is not an enemy, in your mind she has became one.  She said go bake here a pie.  Not someone else but a pie for Sister French.

Now in my words I think God has been speaking to you.

She isnt an enemy. That you are correct on, but shes not my buddy either. She has never been one that is easy to even say "praise the Lord" to or shake her hand. Every encounter I have ever had with her has been a negative one, and not on my part, but she will come up and say snide things to me. THATS why I dont go out of my way to greet her. I dont go out of my way to avoid her either, but if our paths dont cross, I dont sweat it. She has always been Moms buddy, not mine. And like I told Mom the other day, I really dont see how they became good buddies in the first place, it just doesnt add up at all.

My question, and I asked Mom already the other day (but I didnt get an answer)....but WHY does it have to be her? Why all of a sudden are you guys so set on me befriending her when I rarely even mention her name? I dont have a problem with her really, so why is it that you want me to bake a pie for her? Why not someone that I DO have a serious problem with...like...I dont know....someone else, anyone else...why HER?

And yall do know that I have never baked a pie right? Except those Jello no bake kind. Or the Sara Lee kind from the box.

Sorry Yos for thoroughly hijacking this thread.

Well it sure feels like punishment when I am all isolated and feel like that my closest friends dont care anymore, and that I sometimes feel that God Himself doesnt care, and I just want to die and get it all over with. It feels like punishment when I want to talk to people and I dont get replys to countless texts, and calls and PMs, and I feel like something is wrong, and I am back to crying ALL DAY LONG. It feels like punishment when everyone is happy and doing their own thing in their own world and having a grand ole time and I am stuck here in my stupid place about to lose it cause I dont have money for rent even when I am working my tail off in a dead end job that keeps me from friends and sleep, and I am miserable...then only to go to church determined to get over myself and my problems only to get a good blessing and walk out and have the same crud hit me in the face. And yall still didnt tell me how you think that THAT isnt punishment...and for the record, at this moment in time, I am not trying to be contrary, I just simply want people to answer my questions and quit ignoring them. I get my questions ignored alot from yall, and I just want to be answered.

Going back and reading the bold isn't taking it out of context, it's exactly what you said.  :smirk2:

Why can't it be anyone else besides her? Because you want it to be anyone else besides her.
Put aside the way you want things to go, put aside the way you want God to use you for a blessing, put aside your ideas of doing a good deed and submit yourself to God, surrender your will, make the sacrifice of doing something for someone that you don't want to do anything for and don't do it in order to receive a blessing. Just do it to please God.

As for never having baked a pie before? You never spoke in tongues before the Spirit gave the utterance either.  ;)

The kind of pie and how she likes it and all the other details are totally unimportant except for the "when" and that is - as soon as possible and make it possible as soon as you can.  :thumbsup2:

Ok...I wanna say that Im sorry for my additude that I showed in this thread. I was wrong and I was fighting this pie thing so hard.

Im sorry for hijacking the thread, and Im sorry for my additude.

I am going to make a pie for Sister French on Monday and take it over there and see what happens. Im sure I will make a thread about it afterward.

I dont know why I am fighting it, its just a pie, and a lonely old woman. I am around lonely old folks every day and some I even dont like, but I have to deal with them.

I am not saying that I WANT to make the pie now, I still dont WANT to. But in obedience to God and to the Man of God, (not to mention his lovely wife, my best friend, who never steers me wrong) I will do it, and who knows, I will most likely enjoy it. :)

Sounds awesome, last night I preached in Kings Mtn.  When I got home we went to bed early and slept until 10:18 this morning.  I was wore plum out.  We had gotten up at 3:33 Sunday morning to pray.  Man we are always so busy on Sunday's that my the time we get home we just fall over.  But wouldn't want to change working for God for anything.  It is the most awarding job a person can have.  There is just something about seeing peoplelives change for the better.  No amount of money can buy that.

she'll answer by and by. our church has continued the work that was shown to bro dad in the way of uniting members by drawing names and whoever's name you get you can call and readem a bible passage or bake a pie. just what ever the lord lays on ya to do. our church is using this technique to break the ice so to speak. i'm sad to say we had two members to decline the activity and walked out on the idea. maybe we need to let'em see how much fun we are haveing!! funny thing is the sunday school lesson was on charity and these folks, as usuall wanted prayer for undisclosed reasons and wanted us to pray they would stay in the will of God. hmmmm! we prayed their heart would be opened to the church. well they asked for it. hahahaha.

i drew the name of the elderly lady that made the pie that got this thing going. i want to change her oil and make sure her car is winterized with antifreeze and new wipers. just using the skills that came early in life!!

our church has continued the work that was shown to bro dad in the way of uniting members by drawing names and whoever's name you get you can call and readem a bible passage or bake a pie. just what ever the lord lays on ya to do. our church is using this technique to break the ice so to speak. i'm sad to say we had two members to decline the activity and walked out on the idea. maybe we need to let'em see how much fun we are haveing!! funny thing is the sunday school lesson was on charity and these folks, as usuall wanted prayer for undisclosed reasons and wanted us to pray they would stay in the will of God. hmmmm! we prayed their heart would be opened to the church. well they asked for it. hahahaha.

i drew the name of the elderly lady that made the pie that got this thing going. i want to change her oil and make sure her car is winterized with antifreeze and new wipers. just using the skills that came early in life!!

That is just amazing!! Ain't God SOMEBODY!!!!

Not so good to hear about the 2 that walked out.  :-(

It's so awesome to see what God will do with one small act of obedience. It's a snowball effect!!

as in the pie making, i wanted to do something outside of church boundries that had something to do with things we are talented with outside of church. i could call and read a verse, but what did that actually cost me! i wanted there to be a sacrifice in it. so i opted to do what i know how to do. mechanics is a fair sideline trade for me as i did go to school for it, and as long as the car dont have any computer problems, i can work on it.

I made the pie this morning.

:bigcheese:

Its GOOOOOOD too....I licked the bowl. :yum:

Two Boxes of Vanilla instant pudding
one large can of crushed pineapple with juice
two cups of sour cream
four tablespoons of sugar

Blend with hand mixer for 2 mins, put in a graham cracker pie crust, and chill for 3 hours.

Top with cool whip and eat!!

IT IS SOOOO GOOD!!

I am so thrilled about the ministry there in Evergreen, MS.  I told my wife I see Revival in Evergreen.  Always remember everyone except 8 people were destroyed in the flood.  Everybody in the whole world came from 8 people.  If god can do that in the natural, how much can He do in the Spirit.  I am getting excited about what God is doing.  I am believing someone is going to get the Holy Ghost real soon.

ok. but i must confess, we dont get down that way often. i dont even recall any trips down there with this company. i'll ask and see if there might be one comeing up though. drop by some mattress stores and request some capital bedding mattresses. maybe they will ship some down there.

hmmmmm! why dont ya check into being a sells rep in that area. i dont think we have one there.
if ya are interested in checking on a sells rep requirement our company # is 662-566-1144 capital bedding. may be what ya need. i dont know what it takes to get into that feild. if ya call, talk to doug the owner. dont mention me though. he doesnt like doing employees favors.

but just so ya know, we dont get a lot of freight out of FL so ya have to sell close to GA and AL unless you can land a big sell, someone who will buy a truck load of matts.

just a thought that came to me when i remembered you said you had a dead end job. like i say though i dont know what it takes to get into that feild. i'm sure just being able to sell matts.

The ladies conference was pretty good. We had fun. I got to see alot of ladies I knew and we all hang out together between services. I bought a VERY pretty hair stick, an ostrich fuzzy, and a cd. lol I came home and have been jamming. Its a pentecostal group called Roland Baker & Frontline. I guess you would recognize them if you heard them.

I wore my hair stick to church Sunday. I showed it to my pastor and he said, "it aint the hair stick .. it's the head it's stuck on".   :-\   WOnder what in the world that meant???

Melody, Lord Have Mercy on that man! haha Dont let him scare you off before you ever get here; talking about critters and so on. HAHA  It is funny though.  :laughhard: Our house isnt THAT bad. haha

Since nobody stays in the other rooms I keep them closed off to keep the dogs out of there. So those rooms stay mostly undisturbed.  That is why I have been in there flipping/turning everything upside down, ( beds and so forth) and I have been cleaning and spraying in order to make sure that there are absolutely no creeping encounters when you and Bro. Sis. Chapman come up.  (I only found one little spider, but he's a gonner now!)

Im excited. We are going to have so much fun!! :fork: Also as he mentioned, bring some soundtracks cause you know we all like to hear you sing!!  Your Room is Ready!!

I knew your house isn't bad!! I've been there before! Lol besides, if you only knew what kind of places I have stayed in before, you wouldn't even worry about it. I have stayed in MUCH worse conditions than you could imagine. So one or two (or even twenty!) or so stray spiders or roaches or whatever, don't bother me at all. I'm female, but I'm not a sissy girl! ;)

hA! you tickle me half to death.  :laughhard: I guess the reason I even brought that subject up is because I have such a fear of spiders myself.  And I've gone to people's houses and they say, " just stay on...we have a extra bed back there.." I get in there and Good Gosh, its the kingdom of the spiders. "  I've had that happen to me before and that is why I am so concience of it when I have company coming to spend the night.

But roaches.. I will move out of my house if those things ever get started. haha I dont think an atomic bomb will kill those things.  Aint no house in the world big enough for me and a roach. YUCK!  :biglaugh:
